My 20 year old car still has a lot of life in it, but needed a new catalytic converter or else it wasn't going to pass the smog check. Since the pandemic, it is still too expensive to purchase a new car and the availability of what I would want for my next vehicle is still limited. I called around few places and got a lot of different quotes. Mike was able to quote me for approximately $1200, MANUFACTURE FIT, not universal like all the other guys were telling me. After going over the options with my husband, we decided to go with this place. Made my appointment and had to pay up front in order to get the part. Dropped off my car on the day we agreed upon and he told me it would take about 3-4 hours. When the car was ready to be picked up, Mike told me that he had to replace my O2 sensor because it broke off, and was floating around the catalytic converter, which probably explains why I had the funny lights show up & it failed the smog check. LOL. Had to pay an extra $100 for the part, which was fine. Fast forward a few months to now, my car passed the smog check with flying colors and it runs like brand new! As the ORGINAL owner of this 20 year old vehicle, I can't complain paying $1300 for a one time fix instead of buying a new car and dealing with monthly payments for who knows how long! read more

I needed a complete exhaust system for my 1985 Jeep CJ-7 from after the downpipe to the tailpipe. I called a local muffler shop near me in Cypress first but the reception I received over the phone immediately turned me off from me taking my business there. Randomly, I was watching a video on YouTube and came across the ad from Orange County Muffler and decided to give them a call. The initial call was professional and it actually sounded like they were willing to work with me. I took my Jeep down, I'm guessing it was Mike who looked at my Jeep, told him what I needed and that I wanted to use the muffler I would be supplying. Immediately, Mike? began calling suppliers to find a CA compliant catalytic converter for my Jeep as he didn't have one in his shop. I left the Jeep at his location and I received a call shortly after indicating he found a cat and that it would be delivered later in the day and he would start the fabrication the following morning. I was fine with that. The next morning I received a call at around 9:30 with news that my Jeep was done. When I arrived, it was perfect and exactly what I wanted. I had a rattle coming from the exhaust on my Crown Victoria, and it was becoming more persistent. I have also wanted Flowmaster mufflers on this car for a long time. Two trips to Orange County Mufflers took care of both issues. The rattle was one of the four catalytic converters on the car failing, and Mike ordered me a new one and it showed up later that day, I came in the next morning to have it replaced. BUT he had the Flowmaster 40-Series mufflers I wanted in stock and available for immediate installation! In this day and age, rapid delivery of goods and/or services is a promise to nobody, but Orange County Mufflers solved all my problems in 24 hours, and the price was reasonable too. I've taken two of my vehicles to Mike over the years and have had quality work down on both. My 1992 4Runner had a cat replaced after my old one fell apart and a muffler replaced after I punched a hole in it while 4x4ing. The welds are high quality and have lasted well. I came back to Mike due to the good job he did on the 4Runner to install my exhaust on my 2000 F250. I left the truck overnight with him since there where several cars in front of me, however he knocked the exhaust out the next day and my truck has been purring ever since. Nothing has came loose on it, everything seems to be how it should be. The one problem with Mike is he's a pretty serious dude, he doesn't joke around too much unless you can get him talking. Some reviews find him rude, but I think he's a busy guy just trying to run his business. Otherwise his service is the best in Costa Mesa, and anytime I have an exhaust that needs work I'll be taking it to OC Muffler! read more

Just poor customer service, scares me to bring a car to a shop where the main mechanic will hang up in frustration when you ask for a quote on exhaust work instead of working with you and walking through the process. 2006 4Runner 4.7L replaced stock muffler with a Flow Master 50 Delta and sounds great and not too loud. I later decided I also wanted a side exit exhaust to i can drive with the rear window down instead of straight back and also removed the stock resonator. I no longer get that rotten egg smell i used to on hard acceleration. All prices were lowest nearby and Mike always delivered on time. As a motorsports car nut fanatic like me, I took it upon myself to check this place out after hearing from other friends who had their resonator deleted by Orange County Muffler for a decent price. I showed up at 8:30 AM Thursday morning to get a quote. Mind you, my car is 4 inches below the ground. And this sleepy eyed prototype looking being with an unwashed face proceeded to bend his left cheek down to the ground to (I'm guessing) using his superhuman powers as if he had some kind type of Robo-Cop see through night vision. He quoted me $100 to replace the resonator. Seriously, one hundred U.S dollars to install a 2.3 inch pipe by 11-12 inch length. Aluminized steel, not T304 stainless steel. Arch/Mig welded not quality TIG welded!?????!?!?!??! I wasn't sure if this guy didn't get laid this whole year or he's depressed about PENN STATE being banned. Oh and he crapped out of his mouth by talking into space and not look me in the eye saying " It. will. look. like. sh!t. and. fcuking. messy. if. I. don't. mandrel. bend. the. pipe". When there is nothing to bend in the beginning. It's the obvious "I wanna see if this man is blind enough to fall into my trap" tactic. He obviously doesn't trust his own work, have no customer service skills and manners. I ain't your homie fool! Don't talk to me like we ride together son! Had an awesome experience here. I had my muffler removed and I really didn't like how the car sounded after that. I was looking for a place who would be able to put the muffler back on, at a reasonable price. I found Orange County Muffler on Yelp. When I called them, they said to drop the car off early in the morning and they will get it done. I dropped off my car. A few hours later, it was done. Stopped by to see if they were available. Within 30 mins, i was in and out for a replacement to magna flow catalytic converter from test pipe. The exhaust sound now is very deep and less loud and no more smelly exhaust gas. The fee was very reasonable for the work done.
