I stopped by this place as I was coming home from dinner. I wanted something sweet and ordered a pistachio ice cream that was delious. We also ordered something called a crazy cucumber. I must say that was good it was cucumbers, Japanese peanuts,chili, Mexican fruit roll up with chili. I tried the passion smoothie. Pretty good and I opted for the "not too sweet" one. Large is pretty big, although a little pricey. Freshly squeezed juice as well. Love the large straws they supply you with. Facility was clean and easy to access. I do recommend this place to someone who wants to get a quick fix. read more

On two separate occasions, I went to JJ and they told me they had already cleaned the machine :( I remembered about this place and I called to place an order. This review is about the new location on Meridian at Hamilton Avenue in San Jose. I went there with a friend once just after it opened. I had a crepe and a smoothie (and ate there). Both were good. I think my friend enjoyed the sandwich he had. I took 2 chicken tamales to go and had them at home for dinner. They were ok (I've had better, and I've had worse). The guy that waited on us was nice, it was convenient, and good. I would plan on going back. However, I went back a second time yesterday. I had a couple of coupons. That gave me a tamale half price and a free smoothie with other purchases. I spent just about $9. The smoothie was good. I got 4 tamales to go (2 chicken and 2 corn). Communicating with the lady was a bit difficult, as her English wasn't great. That's fine. I asked that the tamales not be heated, because I was going to take them home and heat them up for dinner at night and the next day. Regardless, I had to wait while they heated them. So, they clearly didn't understand me. Since they heated them, I decided to have one after I got home. I ate a corn one. It wasn't right. While the flavor was good and sweet, I felt like I was eating corn husk and corn shells (like the bottom unpopped pieces of microwave popcorn). It felt weird, and I was getting pieces stuck in my throat. I even saw shell-type pieces on the plate. I ate most of that tamale, but threw the rest away. I saved my receipt and the other 3 tamales (1 corn and 2 chicken) so that I could return them. I went back the next morning (today). The same lady waited on me. She asked why I couldn't have returned the same day I bought them, and I explained I was busy working. I brought them back the next day, still wrapped in the same tinfoil and bag, and with my receipt. She said she would call her manager, since she could not take a return. After talking with the manager in Spanish on the phone, she told me that they would refund my money for the 4 tamales, but only if I paid for the smoothie that I gotten for free with the coupon. I said I would do that, but I thought that was poor customer service and very petty. She put me on the phone with the manager. He asked if I wanted another tamale instead, and I said no. I did not want to try another one, and I didn't have time. He said ok. He then talked with the lady in the store that was waiting on me. They gave me a full refund for the 4 tamales. She said that this refund was a one-time refund. They did not ultimately make me pay for the smoothie that came with the coupon. When she gave me the cash refund, it seemed like it was a bit more than the correct amount. I asked to see my receipt, as I intended to check the amount I had paid and give her the excess she was trying to refund to me above what I had paid. She held the receipt and would not give it to me, saying she needed to keep it. I said that's fine, I just wanted to look at it to see the amount I had paid. So, she held it up, in front of her, and without my reading glasses, it was not so easy to see from the other side of the counter with the cash register in between us. And, she had her thumb over the amount. Why couldn't she let me hold the receipt so that I could see it??? So, I told her that I thought she was giving me back too much money (maybe a few cents too much) and that I was going to give it to her, but she was nasty. Then, she said that if I have any more coupons for their store, she would not accept them from me (at least that's what it turned out she was saying after I had to ask her to repeat herself a couple of times given her accent). I'm not sure that she has the authority to do that. Regardless, I won't go back to there to be treated like that. While their smoothies and crepes were good, and I would go back (just not to buy any more tamales), now after being talked to like that by her, I won't go back there. She almost treated me like I only wanted the free smoothie, and then I returned the tamales the next day pretending that one was bad. Just so I could ask for a refund for the tamales and have gotten my free smoothie. Trust me, I don't have time to be bothered doing stupid stunts like that. Way too busy with work. And, I don't need to fabricate stories to get a free smoothie. I can afford to buy smoothies! Good luck to them. read more

I have seen this place before and regret not trying it sooner. This place is all about Mexican treats/desserts, but they do have tortas, tamales, quesadillas. I had the guanabana smoothie which is so hard to find, it was delicious! I will be coming back for sure. So many treats to try, including healthy options like fruit salads & natural juices.
