A $95 dead orchid sent by this company

Worst orchid buying experience. This business sent a dead cattleya that was 5in pot for $95 with no live roots and even pests in the soil. The order included two other orchids as well. Paid for the two day shipping USPS, which they then changed to UPS three day shipping. Shipped during a cold spell where the owner agreed to include hot packs prior to shipping. They were not included. The plants arrived severely damaged, yellowed, and the cattleya was absolutely not fit for sale. When approached about the shipping, the owner refused to own their fault in sending a dead orchid or acknowledge the pest that they had sent with it. Instead they demanded I spend more money on shipping and handling to send them the shriveled waste that I received. Avoid their poor business model. Honestly disappointing in how poorly this company did in this shipping. I am so grateful to have experienced it now, as I found a better store in Hawaii who was far more capable of meeting my needs. I bought the same orchid from Kawamotos in Hawaii, which was shipped by the agreed 2 day shipping and arrived with hot packs. Kawamotos orchids were on 39 dollars for 5in pot, and were shipped with healthy roots and continue to grow. Maybe Orchid Design could take some pointers from their Hawaiian competitors and do better.

Angelic & Dave are the best and they sent me three lovely healthy orchids. Their communication and knowledge was professional and their shipping was lovely and super fast. Thank you to you both ~ I will most definitely purchase from you again ~!

Man, that plant sure is huge haha

I got a plant from them, Stanhopea tigrina 'The Predator' FCC/AOS. A very rare plant indeed. It is actually a division of the original awarded plant, so I feel very fortunate to have it. They were very nice, and their customer care was great. The shipped quickly and it arrived quickly (I think in to days). It was packed perfectly and there was no damage to a single leaf. The plant is HUGE. I mean, massive. It is growing in what is probably an 8 inch basket, but it has outgrown that and the new growths are going every direction, a lot of them climbing down the side of the basket. I'm not even going to try to repot it. It would be such a difficult repot, and it seems very happy, so I'm going to just let it do it's thing, so it's really more like it's mounted than potted. Anyway, the plant was listed as having 5 flower spikes starting, however the owner said that she moved the plant to take pictures for the listing, and then didn't put it back where it was before. She thinks it got too much sun and not enough water, and the buds all blasted. That's okay with me. I'm buying an orchid plant. If it has buds on it, that's an added bonus, but if it doesn't, that's fine too. I will wait, and it will bloom again when it's ready. Plus, it's still early in the tigrina blooming season, so I may still get some flowers after all before it's all said and done. However, because of the lost flower buds, she knocked the price down from 200 to 150, which wasn't t all necessary, but I really appreciated it just the same. Another example of their great customer service. They clearly wanted to do whatever they had to do to make sure I was happy. I love my plant, and I'm so excited to have it. I browsed their website, and they have some really cool stuff. I'm sure I'll be doing business with them again. I can't tell you what a positive experience I had with Orchid Design.

If you're looking to get orchids (mainly cymbidiums and cattleyas) and want something different than what's offered at your local nursery or hardware store, then Orchid Design will have what you're looking for. Orchid Design is usually by appointment only since the orchids are grown in Angelic's (owner) backyard both under patios with screen covering and a greenhouse that her husband built. Throughout the year they will have an open house to the public or they can been seen at local orchid shows such as the San Francisco Orchid Expo and Orchids In The Park in Golden Gate Park. For most of the orchids she has available, the price is fair, but some can be very expensive. I once bought a hard-to-find cymbidium for $120 along with some other orchids and I asked if she could take off $10 since she had a handful more. She didn't even budge. I would have passed on the $120 cymbidium considering there's a few nurseries in and around Santa Barbara that sell it for $60 shipped, but I need it fast for Mother's Day. Shame on me for poor planning. When they're available, Orchid Design also has potting mixes such as bark, coconut and perlite for sale. Competetive to what you'd get from local nurseries, but considering how hard it is to get coconut husk chips this place is your best bet. They also offer floral and graphic design. Overall, a place you should check once if you're a fan of orchids. Best time to check out this place is open house in spring. You'll be like "wow, the colors!"

My brother might know the owners or something - can't recall. I believe he got her the -- Love You to the Moon Bouquet -- looking at the sample photo anyways. Each friend who has received a birthday arrangement was in love/awe with their gift. --Timeless Bouquet-- (Perfect for someone is is classy, elegant, love neutrals, and beautiful things) In July 2022, Urban Flora texted me once the flowers were dropped off; I had the flowers dropped off outside as my friend was quarantining and was the point of main point of contact while keeping this a surprise. --Pink Sorbet Bouquet-- (Perfect for a lover of pink, someone with a vibrant personality, maybe someone into anime). In March 2025, Urban Flora will e-mail the purchaser that it has 'shipped' once it's about to be delivered and will e-mail the purchaser once delivered. It would also be my first choice for my man -- if only they delivered to his city which they do not -- might have to do a pick-up one of these days. I would not recommend Urban Flora for last minute custom for like a Condolence arrangement - I did reach out in 2023 but was not able to get a hold of them at the time. Otherwise whether you order the day prior (within a reasonable window frame - they can get the job done, orders prior to noon would be best for those situations -- and the more time you give in advance, the better the delivery experience and outcome. You definitely get what you pay for and 'the best bouquet' is the experience you are providing.

Full story: I placed an order 5 months before a photoshoot where I wanted to hold a bouquet of flowers. I sent them a verbal description and a photo of what I wanted and they assured me they could do it. They quoted me for the bouquet consisting of pink garden roses, calla lilies, and lily of the valley and I paid in full as requested. The day before pickup (that we had agreed on 5 months ago), I sent an email to confirm. They replied with "Please call me to see what you are referring to." After calling, they could not find the order and after being put on hold, they eventually found it. Clearly they had completely forgot about the order. The order which they themselves said "I'll check availability (especially for lily of the valley, as it's seasonal) and provide you with an exact quote and timeline". Upon arriving for pick up, they had replaced the lily of the valley, one of the most expensive bouquet flowers, for baby's breath, one of the cheapest. Not only that, the garden roses were standard grocery store roses. The roses were also dry like paper, which isn't surprising since they had thrown it together in less than a day even though they had 5 months notice. When I asked for a 40% partial refund, I was negotiated down and patronized about how the price for the bouquet was way too low for what I had asked for because lily of the valley needs to be special ordered from France weeks in advance, etc etc. 1, it's not my fault that they under quoted, 2, I know that the flower needs to be special ordered; that's why they were given 5 months notice and I asked if the flowers would be available for that time. They also argued with me that the roses they had used were actually garden roses. The photo speaks for itself --standard roses were opened up, fluffed, and squished in the center to mimic the round shape of a garden rose, and others were unmistakably standard roses (like the one I circled in my photo). One of their employees was agreeing with me and saying that the flowers used did not match the photo and description I sent. She was shortly dismissed from the counter. They kept saying "we want you to be happy" - yet never acknowledged or apologized for forgetting the order or gave me as much of a partial refund as I was asking for. They asked me if the inspo photo I provided was photoshopped. The flowers exist in real life and they simply did not use them. They said they could create it at the time, so why would they ask that other than to make excuses? They simply forgot about the order and didn't order the right flowers and tried to pass off a cheap bouquet of old dry standard roses and baby's breath as what I asked for. I could have made what they made from a grocery store and the flowers wouldn't have been paper dry. Their tone when I was talking to them was like I was bothering them and being ridiculous for asking for money back, saying that the cheap bouquet was worth more. They said "I used extra calla lilies and I put it all together." First, there were not extra calla lilies and even if there were, it would not make up for everything else. Second, you put it together?? Are you not a florist? A florist is supposed to 1, source flowers, 2, put the flowers together. Failed on one. Bragged about the other. Sorry for not being impressed. Upon me insisting on the partial refund and arguing back with them, they offered to remake it and for them to deliver it the next day. Which would be day of the photoshoot which I had to leave in the morning for, which is why I scheduled pick up the day before. In the end, the delivery did not work for the timeline and I never got the flowers.

Let me just say first, Ruby was so amazing to work with! From the start, Ruby was informative, thoughtful, and flexible. I appreciated her expertise and advice when it came to wedding florals. We booked Ruby a year in advance and throughout that time we chatted about my vision for the wedding. Ruby helped me narrow down a color palette and was patient with me as I changed my mind about the color closer to the wedding date. The biggest ask of Ruby was to execute the arch of flowers and I can't believe how stunning it turned out to be. She completely understood what I wanted and made it happen. We also ordered two aisle markers, which got reused in front of the sweet heart table. All the round tables had candles, bud vases, and a wreath of Italian ruscus. My bouquet was colorful and vibrant. All my bridesmaids were given a singular bouquet that featured a flower from my bouquet. As they all have a piece of my heart. My husband had a pocket square boutonniere. The groomsmen had boutonnieres on their lapels. We also did a boutonniere for my grandparents and officiant. She was mindful of my budget and recommended multiple options when it came to what I could do for arrangements and set up. She was on site for set up and was such a trooper for setting everything up a bit of venue chaos. Ruby is a wonderful florist and we would love to work with her again in the future for different events and celebrations. We also look forward to recommending her to every bride and groom. Thank you again, Ruby! My bouquet has been dried nicely and is hanging up in my office now, it is an heirloom I am going to keep forever.
