My mom really loves bamboo, so I wanted to gift her one for Mother's Day. I was looking for places to find a really good one and stumbled across Phuong Nam Plants. As I entered the store, I was warmly greeted with smiles by the lady. She was very kind enough to help me and decided to put the heart shaped bamboo & regular bamboo together, which I thought was a great idea since I told her how my mom wanted a bamboo! It was a total of $60 since I wanted to add the vase, which is pretty reasonable. However they have pretty good selection of orchids and other plants. They also sell decorative pots as an additiona charge if ever you get one. Stopped by to get a gift for my friend's grand opening party of her new business. The space is kind of cramped but lots of options here - bamboos, orchids, money trees. They even had heart shaped bamboos! Lots of pot options. The money trees were either really big or really small at the time I went since they were sold out of others. I opted for a bamboo bundle which cost me $30 total for the bamboo and the pot. I think that's not bad. My friend loved it and when I came by her salon a couple weeks later, it looked great in her space. Still green and alive. Service was friendly. I took a while to decide what I wanted but the salesman was patient and helpful. I paid in cash. So some of their bonsai while nice and may need a good trim and TLC, the price is quite steep too! None of the plants here really seem that healthy. The wonder was reluctant to answer any of our questions and kept walking away. I don't know why someone wrote 'nice bonsai collection'. There are around 4-5 and none in good condition. There are only prices on a select few plants so you have to get the owners attention to ask him the price. The price starts at around $80. Funny story: one of my friends bought 2 white orchid plants from Costco and has been watering them for months. Lately, he found out that they were artificial plants.:-) I have been tempting to replace them for him with the real ones since he LOVES white orchids but haven't found a place to get nice ones. So today I decided to purchase a bonsai tree nothing too special just a small one as a gift. I went here because the rating were great they said the owner was nice and helpful lots of varieties etc etc. So as I walk into the store the " Owner " ( bald man with glasses ) was speaking with another customer I'm guessing .. so I decide to walk around and see my options. Beautiful arry of orchids, bonsai and bamboo stalks ( idk exactly ) but I didn't spot any of the bonsai trees ive seen in the pictures. The ones that were for show were huge ones. Not one word was spoken to me, not in till I asked a lady outside if she worked her because she was moving plants around. She then said " how can I help you?" I was like yess finally. I asked if they had any more bonsai trees something small as a gift. And she replied " yes we have these 2 one 40$ and the other 60$. Not too ecstatic about the price I went with the 40$. It didn't look like the ones in the picture but I thought ehh why not.. I asked her if she had a pot to make it alittle bit more presentable and she said yes but it will be 60$ I was fine with that but unfortunelty I only had 40$ on me.. they do not take debit cards which is a drag. She then tells me to go to a atm at 7/11 and deposit 20$ and it will be ready when I come back. So I give her 20$ , depart for 7/11 get my money etc etc. When I come back the " owner " ask me how can I help you and I said "well I'm looking for a lady who was helping before about a small bonsai tree." He then grab the bonsai tree in the back which is the one I picked and says how much did she say. I told him she said 60$ for the tree and a nice pot. And he pauses looks around and says we have no pot. And I said well she said 40$ and 60$ with pot. And he said No No No 60$ for the tree only. Sorry. So I was so confused.. I asked who the lady was and he said that's my sister this is my store. I asked him if he could find her but didnt say anything. I was frustrated because not only did I waste my time I went to a atm to withdraw money I didn't need. They were not willing to negotiate with me like other reviews claim. He asked If I wanted my money back I said please because I was tired of wasting my time.. My advice is look else where tbh. Theres two chubby dogs running around named Michael Jackson & Bill Gates lol which makes browsing for flowers such a joy. The owners are very patient, helpful, and sweet. Orchids are very high-maintenance in general, so beware when you buy any orchid anywhere. We especially like to come here for Tet and buy big, yellow chrysanthemums, a traditional bloom for Vietnamese Lunar New Year. The yellow cymbidium orchids, bong mai, and cherry blossoms for Tet are also beautiful. We really like all the different fruit trees, like the tangerine trees, lemon trees, apple trees, and etc. are available to be purchased with fruit already on them, so you know it's not a dud! They also have a large selection of bonsai trees here, so if you are looking for a bonsai, this is where you should go. They will also give you a lot of tips and advice on how to take care of your bonsai and any plant that you purchase here. My friend bought about 32 potted orchid plants for their wedding reception here, and they were beautiful. The bride and groom were really happy.
