I have eaten there many times and each time I hope that the next time will be better but I think I finally given up. I usually get a Bento box or teriyaki chicken... every time the chicken tastes old and the teriyaki sauce is extremely salty... I even got a spring roll yesterday and the chicken inside of that also tasted old. I initially thought maybe because this place was new they will get it together but they haven't. I do not recommend. Mediocre at best. Once I found out that the owner was a former owner of another Asian restaurant in town it all made sense. They ran that one into the ground, and this place has the same exact food the other did. The bento box is a glorified chicken bowl w rice and veggies with a horrible attempt at what one calls a sushi roll included. It took over an hour to get our food when the place was not even that busy. My dining partner was on lunch break and was not even able to eat. The chicken was undercooked as well as the veggies. I ordered the veggies without onions and green peppers and it was obvious from the flavor all they did was pick them out. I've had better veggies out of a steamer bag in the microwave. Steer clear. The prices are horrible and there are much better options in the Boro. Save your money and order a glorified chicken bowl from elsewhere. read more

I had chicken teriyaki when I was at the restaurant the chicken was tough and chewy and the vegetables I had might've been OK if they hadn't put canned carrots on the plate. They tasted like canned carrots and it tasted like they sweetened them with sugar or something they didn't even taste like carrots. And since when does an Asian restaurant serve carrots. I like spicy rolls, so I mostly ordered spicy items. I was surprised to find all my spicy rolls smothered in some spicy orange sauce, with additional containers (4) of the orange spicy sauce. We were visiting from out of town & this place was recommended. As soon as we walked in, I knew it was going to be a good experience. The restaurant is decorated very pretty & is clean. The lighting is great and it wasn't too noisy. Even the restrooms were very clean & looked cute. We ordered the teriyaki chicken hibachi entree, special soup, side salad & a side of fried rice. All of our food was delicious! The ONLY thing I didn't like was that my soup was spicy & it didn't say that ahead of time. It did still have a great flavor though. Talk about pleasantly surprised! The decor is wonderful, and the customer service is impeccable. The food comes out at an appropriate time as well! I'm glad this restaurant is in The Boro. I ordered the Cali roll, which was really good, as an appetizer. I also got the hibachi shrimp meal with white rice, miso soup and broccoli. The portion size is perfect. Highlights were Summer Rolls- Fresh ingredients and amazing peanut sauce Seaweed Salad- some of the best Ive ever had Orchid Soup- similar to a Thai red pork noodle soup great! This is a restaurant that I normally go to and enjoy, but the food and service is terrible! I got the hibachi chicken and shrimp when I went this time and my food was cold after waiting over an hour for my food. When I told the manager on staff about my food being cold, he told me that it couldn't have been cold because my food had been on a warmer. I then told him it was cold and he brought out more chicken and shrimp that was overcooked and dry. The server was terrible and she watched our table whenever she walked by and took 20 minutes to bring our drinks (all waters). When we complained to her about our experience she smirked at us and gave us excuses to basically get us out of her hair. When talking to the manager he went on to give us nonchalant attitude and didn't really care about what we were saying. They did not offer to comp our bill until we demanded a discount for such bad service. After they lied to us saying that there wasn't a manger on staff that could give us a discount which was not true. We then overheard our waiter say, "I don't care I already got my tip." Our manager and server also gave each other nonverbal gestures when going back and forth from our table. Deangelo (the service manager) was very rude to us during the whole conversation with him. Overall they were extremely unprofessional and it was the worst experience, I will not be going back. read more

This place is not what it is advertised as. Sushi is cut wrong, to thick and the rice is plain long grain. I ordered Hibachi chicken, old, dry as well as cold saturated in sauce to hide it. Soggy boiled carrots, mixed veggies over cooked and seemed they had been reheated. I would not recommend this place nor will I revisit. Very disappointed. Really tasty food. Lots of vegetables, fresh and not a greasy taste like seasons. I've been here a total of three times. My third time the food was not the best, the rice was very hard and the vegetables overpowered the chicken. Wonderful retaraunt, but the other reviewers are missing the main point here- they serve Vietnamese phó. Phó is a rich beef broth soup with hints of anise and loaded with noodles and fresh beef or chicken and is a popular dish in more populous areas. It's a quick and easy (not to mention filling) soup that is beyond welcome here in the food desert that is statesboro. The sushi is lacking, but with Tokyo down the street and shogun less than a mile away, there is no real reason to visit orchid but for the soup. The other dishes I've had here tend to be quite good, but the bento boxes are subpar. 5 star phó, 4-3.5 star food with good service puts this restaraunt at a comfy 4 stars. read more

They offer a variety of sushi choices as well as hibachi style entrees which are typical for this type of restaurant, but the flavors are unique enough to separate them from the pack. While the flavor and quality of the food alone warrant a 4-star rating, the prices and portion sizes make it deserving of a fifth star. It also has a great atmosphere with a very friendly staff. Orchid has the best sushi in Statesboro by far. The Georgia Roll is great for people who love cooked sushi. While the Hot Night Roll is an excellent spicy choice. The Spicy Tuna Roll is the best I've ever had, as it is made of a solid piece of tuna and not a minced mixture. The price is outstanding for sushi and sashimi of this quality. I have also tried a platter that consisted of the chef's choice. I was so pleased at all of the wonderful fresh options that were presented. Our server was clueless. I could tell from the beginning and we should've left then. I ordered bento box 2 and my boyfriend ordered shrimp hibachi. We both ordered ginger salads. We waited a while, food came out I got my bento box and he asked my boyfriend if he got a porkchop...so he told him no he ordered the shrimp hibachi, then server came back with chicken hibachi and no salads. Went back to get our salads, and my boyfriend had to tell him a third time he wanted SHRIMP hibachi. Crazy. Food made us both sick within the next hour. Will not return. server apologized for the mix up because he was new but he wrote our order down?!? And it seemed simple enough. The place was dead and our server only had one other table. The ambiance of this restaurant is quite nice. The food, however, needs some work. I have only been to this restaurant once I should clarify. My chicken teriyaki was sub-par. The meat was dry, hard and chewy. I have had similar but better chicken teriyaki from food courts in shopping malls. The sauces, entrees, and salad were all pretty standard for a Japanese grill. The service and ambiance were good, but they did not offset the mediocrity of the food. Thus, I give it my standard 3 stars: nothing very bad but also nothing that outstanding. read more
