We come to the plumeria Beach house often for their Sunday brunch and Sunday brunch buffet. This Sunday we did the brunch buffet as usual. The offerings seemed a bit sparse. I thought they typically have sashimi and sushi but this time they just had perhaps 1 to 2 poke offerings, their typical oatmeal and cereals, and waffle and pancake bar. They also have an omelette station and on the buffet was their typical lineup of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and other items. I thought they typically had more Japanese offerings and maybe they're cutting back???. Not as much seafood offerings as usual. Service was always outstanding. We had a large party of 12 in our server, he was awesome and very attentive 10 stars for our server!

This is what you get for $34, very colorful

This is at the Kahala Hotel and resort, lots to see; the property is beautiful. We had a beautiful ocean front table and ring side seat to a wedding. The service was impeccable. The food, not so much. We were there for breakfast but did not opt for the buffet. At this price point I was disappointed. The coffee tasted like dishwater. The guava juice was delightful. I had The Continental; the variety of pastries consisted of 3 chocolate; a chocolate muffin, a chocolate chip muffin, a chocolate croissant; a plain croissant and a pecan cinnamon roll, so sweet on sweet. All tasty but not much variation. The fresh fruit was excellent, the pineapple was not cored. Hubby had the avocado toast; it was just okay. The fish was plain and small portion. I am sure we will visit the Hotel again but maybe give the poolside bar a try. The setting is idyllic.

The Best beachfront bar in Hawaii!! I absolutely Love the vibes and breezy atmosphere of this place. It's truly reminds me, YES we live in Hawaii!

Service at the Plumeria Beach house was kind and attentive! Had a nice leisure lunch with family from out of town. The open air seating was refreshing as was the view of the ocean. We started with the seafood tower appetizer! Wow! All cold seafood but very refreshing on a hot summer day! I enjoyed the bento box lunch that came with a Mac nut pie dessert! Food is a bit pricey but I think it's the norm based on the current economy. Would definitely recommend eating here!

I love the bar at the Plumeria Beach House. Located in the Kahala Hotel it's a friendly place with amazing views. After a day of holoholoing FPO and I decided to do Sunday pupus and drinks at the bar. You can self-park in parking structure or valet in front of the hotel. The Plumeria validates. Steve and Aaron were manning the bar and both are terrific. They helped the folks t the bar as well as a couple tables outside, and the people coming off the beach. The prices are a little on the high side but you get what you pay for. This place is a go to for us every time we're on the island.

It's been a minute since I last went to the Plumeria Beach House to have the seafood buffet on a Friday night. I wanna say the last time I was at the Plumeria Beach House was just before Covid-19, and for awhile I even thought that buffets were gonna be a thing of the past. Luckily for us, even though Covid-19 is still around, most of us were lucky enough to have gained some kind of immunity from it, therefore buffets.....here we come! Lol! The biggest thing I look forward to when coming to the Plumeria Beach House seafood buffet is the crab legs & miso butterfish. On the Friday I came here, I was able to get my crab legs, but the miso butterfish was replaced by a stuffed salmon dish instead. (Insert Sad Panda face)! Although I was a little bummed that I didn't get my miso butterfish, how can ya get mad at this WONDERFUL buffet???? So many wonderful food choices, and da desserts were to die for! Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm! I was too busy getting my GRINDZ on to get all the photos, but I tried my best. Lol! Service at the Plumeria Beach House is always first class, no complaints at all. Looking for a great place to enjoy a seafood buffet? Plumeria Beach House is da one!

On our recent anniversary trip to Oahu, we returned to the beautiful Kahala resort where we were married several years ago, and celebrated with dinner at Plumeria Beach House. We reserved outdoor seating at sunset and the views of the ocean and sunset colors were absolutely stunning. Thursday happen to be prime rib night. We started with Chef's onion soup, which was rich, savory and topped perfectly with crunchy onions. The prime rib was massive, juicy and tender & served with generously size bowls of creamy mashed potatoes and creamed spinach the portions are so large we easily could've shared one meal. Even though we were full, I couldn't resist the Lillikoi tart. It arrived with a chocolate happy anniversary plaque and to our surprise they also brought out a slice of rainbow cake with another plaque. This extra touch was really appreciated and made our night extra special . The LiliKoi pie was delicious, tart and sweet and the macadamia nut crust was buttery & crunchy. The hostess, servers and everyone who stopped by our table were warm, friendly and very attentive. Plumeria Beach House is just as delicious and top-notch as we remembered. As a bonus valet parking is validated with a $50 spend, making it easy to enjoy a relaxed memorable special evening.

Plumeria Beach House was one of the highlights of our stay at The Kahala Resort. The breakfast buffet was divine and even though we went multiple times throughout our stay it didn't feel repetitive. There was always something different or special, like Malasadas over the weekend. The view is absolutely gorgeous, fresh air, and wonderful interior design. The service somehow was even better than the food and ambiance. We were very fortunate to have Randy as our server for most of our trip. Randy is the epitome of the Aloha spirit, just genuine kindness and love for the island that radiates from within him. We are so grateful for our time at The Kahala Resort and cannot wait to come back soon as a family of 3.

my fiancé reserved us a lunch date at this restaurant for right after he proposed! So it'll always be a 5 stars from the heart because of the occasion. We sat right on the beach and soaked up the sun. If you're afraid of birds, you might want to ask for an indoor table. As we walked in, the staff already knew who we were and had our table ready which added to the occasion! We ordered the loco moco and butterfish. This misoyaki was the star of the show! I can see why it was the signature dish. It's soo flaky and perfect umami. Honestly better than nobu! We ended lunch with a complimentary congratulatory cake slice which was perfectly sweet. Not sure if this is made in house or catered in but either way we loved it. It's not too busy during lunch as it's inside the Kahala Hotel which might be a good alternative to dinner! The hotel is also a beautiful site too see would definitely give this spot a try! Only giving this a 4/5 stars due to the pricing and not something i can afford regularly; however, understood as it's a hotel restaurant!

Coconut cake: very light and tasty

This is a great place for a special occasion brunch or even a business meeting. Situated in the Kahala hotel, it sits on the beach and the atmosphere is very relaxed. During the summer months, it does get a bit warm but the temperature was perfect for a December meal. There are elaborate Christmas decorations in the historic lobby. I highly recommend the signature bento. This is a sampler of multiple local delicacies. There is a green salad and very fresh, thick-cut tuna sashimi to whet the appetite. Then I turned my attention to an ahi poke stuffed musubi along with teriyaki marinated ribeye. Very hearty portions! The misoyaki butterfish was cooked perfectly and it left me craving more of this delectable seafood creation. I enjoyed it so much that on another occasion I ordered the butterfish entree by itself. Dessert is awesome. Chocolate macadamia nut tart provides great crunch with rich chocolate and a dollop of vanilla ice cream. If you wish to sugar load, may I recommend the coconut cake--very light and fluffy. The bento provided a very satisfying tour of many Japanese/Hawaiian favorites. When you're finished dining, recommend taking a stroll on the historic Kahala hotel grounds. There is a dolphin exhibit and almost always a live show.

This is a small seafood tower - very good. We had a large one the other day.

Located at the Kahala resort. This is hands-down, an amazing restaurant. We have been there for breakfast for lunch and for dinner while we stayed at the resort very impressive selection of foods. The staff are friendly and very attentive. Todd was our waiter at lunch.. we had the most amazing seafood tower!! onion soup was very tasty. They had this chicken curry on a papaya.... Don't knock it because that flavor mixture. It was amazing. And we split a burger. Still that was so much food so good though. Steve was our bartender- restaurant was closed at 2 PM on marathon day... we ordered the smaller seafood tower this day Jessie was our waiter at the Hawaiian buffet on Sunday. We brought our family. Definitely have to come back again. They had so much selections. The service here is top-notch. They really love their job and work well together. It's located, Beachside you could have indoor or outdoor seating. Casual day to dressy attire for dinner.

We love the Plumeria Beach House and always try to squeeze in the opportunity for brunch when we are on Oahu. I love the ambiance of the restaurant, it's a nice and open space. You can either sit inside (closer to the food) or outside near the water. Either locations make me feel really relaxed and happy. The food is delicious! There are so many options to choose from, starting from the pastries which I believe are mostly in-house or local, the fruit and yogurt options, soup, smoked salmon, and even steak. I love the make your own cold brew bar, juice station, as well as the omelette station (you can choose to get your eggs over easy). Service is amazing, the servers are really tentative and friendly. We love talking story with them!

Restaurant Week 2018. Dessert. Island Sorbet, seasonal fruits, mango coulis. Hmmm, where's the coulis?
    Randy S.

This is always a pleasant choice to have a breakfast or lunch w out-of-town guests or a family gathering. The views from the outdoor seats are mostly shaded and this area of kahala always seems to have a good breeze to keep things cool. The best part of dining near the beach is there is almost no one passing in front of you - unlike in Waikiki. If you like a buffet there is a breakfast and dinner version. There are always a la carte choices if you decline the buffet. Lunch is strictly off the menu. Their breakfast buffet used to be quite extensive and a very good value. Now, while the price is lower the number of items offered and the variety of foods has noticeably decreased. Coffee is served in a carafe on the table which makes refills easier, but specialty barista made coffees were not offered. If you dine outdoors it is a good idea to always have one person at the table while others hit the buffet for another plate. There is very aggressive pigeons that will fearlessly attack a plate of food as soon as the table if left unattended. The servers will shoo away the birds but they cannot stand guard over your table. The other alternative to leave cloth napkins covering your food. Service is generally good, though it is mostly limited to removing empty plates. And they are happy to snap a photo for you if you desire. Complimentary valet parking is convenient - don't waste your time trying to save a couple of dollars by self parking

no lunch buffet , but they do dinner buffets on Fridays and weekends. You have to check the website for the specifics on the type of buffets.

Is there a discounted kamaiana rate for the Friday and Saturday seafood buffet?

    No.

Is the experience dining indoor or outdoor better? We were thinking about going around 6:30/7pm for Saturday Dinner.

Outdoor dining should be an excellent experience with times given for summer evenings. PROVIDED, Weather conditions with no rain and a nice breeze. I believe you should see the sunset. It can make for a romantic dinner.

Are reservations needed for breakfast buffet?

No reservations needed, but highly recommended

Is crab legs served in the breakfast buffet?

    No, only the seafood buffet

How much is the dinner buffet?

The Seafood Dinner Buffet, served Friday & Saturday, is currently $88 for adults.

How much is the dinner buffet?

About $88/per person. It is only on friday and Saturdays

Is the breakfast ala carte menu the same as the buffet menu, like ALL items in ala carte are available on the buffet?

No, there are some items in the ala carte not in the buffet.

Are their açaí bowls included in the breakfast buffet? Can anyone kindly list what food they remember being included most recently? THANK YOU!

For future reference, as of Nov. 2022, I would like to add to Olga's and Denise's comments that the buffet also included: made to order eggs and omelettes, a carving station - roast beef on both mornings I went, but supposedly changes, tenderloin…

    Is buffett self service?

Yes, self service except for the omelet and carving station.

Do they have much that is gluten-free and dairy free?

Hi Steve! Yes, Plumeria Beach House has both gluten and dairy free items on their menus.

Are dogs allowed on the patio?

I believe so because I saw others with dogs on the patio.

Is 745 pm too late for a buffet reservation here? Since they close at 830pm

If reservations are full. Are walk ins available?

Walks in are available but it's best to just make reservations online it's very easy! Amazing place to have breakfast and look out the ocean.

Are there any private dining rooms for events?

And we just can't go here anymore unless changes are made! We used to prefer them over Zippy's, but now they are less than 7-Eleven quality, while charging higher-end prices for the neighborhood. We have given them many chances, hoping it was just a fluke, but we have repeatedly been disappointed. Their chicken has become chewy and fatty, their rice is mediocre, and condiments such as mayonnaise are stripped down to the bare minimum quantity. Chile is poured so lightly that it is practically a minuscule amount. And their prices have continued to rise. I don't know if greedy people took over the restaurant who just don't care anymore, or what is going on. I remember when I used to take people here, and they would be impressed with the quality and quantity--plates just heaping with good cuts of meat, noodles, and rice. Those days are no more. As they say in Japan, the price performance is poor. Furthermore, their staff is rude. I can only imagine it was an owner working this day because it was a face I haven't seen that often. An older gentleman who appeared to be of Okinawan descent, working the cashier register, accosted us because I was privately discussing with my family about splitting different items with them. We were all ordering something, so he wasn't losing any money, but he told us about how prices are double in Waikīkī. First of all, it is rude to interrupt your customers that way. Secondly, we don't go to Waikīkī or care about Waikīkī. What happened to serving the locals? Third, Waikīkī has an assortment of restaurants, prices, and qualities, and they shouldn't be how you base your services. Lastly, I guarantee I could find a better deal in Waikīkī if I wanted to. Next time you're in the area, just go get a $6 bento or a $5 burrito from 7-Eleven next door. I assure you, the price performance and experience will be better. If Rainbow Drive-In is in the business of comparing themselves to other things, let's compare them to 7-Eleven and at least try to be better than them, right? I can get mochiko chicken from 7-Eleven for $6.99 that is similar in portion size and better quality. Meanwhile, they are serving their fatty, dry chicken for $16.75. Highway robbery! And they are not fancy, with their dirty picnic tables and plastic cutlery. They are just a step above a food truck, if that. Save yourself from the hype. They have gone downhill like a landslide. Go elsewhere.

OMG! This was a dining experience! So, the restaurant was closing so my friend said we should eat…read morethere! I didn't know that the servings were group sized!! I found so many things that looked great on the menu, to include fried gizzards, boneless Kal Bi ribs, fully loaded fried rice, Mac salad and other stuff I can't recall! So the TWO of us ordered way too much! We tried to eat as much as we could and ended up taking the rest home! Everything we ordered was delicious, so we knew we were going to eat good leftovers! The restaurant was a great place to go with a group to eat and watch sports! Our Waitress (I have to remember to get names) was a track star, she was running to and from several tables of groups to deliver food! I will go again if they reopen!

If you're visiting Hawaii with a big group, 100% recommend taking them here…read more We initially were a party of 16, and showed up without a reservation at 6pm on a Saturday. The staff was super nice about it and was able to accommodate us, with only a small request that we be out by 8pm since there was another big party with a reservation coming in. Absolutely reasonable. They sat us right away at three large tables, which gave us plenty of space for food and didn't force us to sit super close together. Menus, waters, plates, napkins, and forks were all brought out immediately, and our waiter was quick to take our order. We started with the prix fixe menu for 8-10 guests and were going to add other items à la carte, but a handful of our group accidentally went to the other Side Street location (make sure your group is all on the same page), so what we ordered ended up being more than enough. We left stuffed and with 5 boxes of food still. Edamame was nice and steamy, and large enough to easily pop the beans out with your mouth. Wish there was a bit more salt though. The farmer's salad had everything going on from citrusy to salty to crispy. Avocado had a little bit of oxidation but the capers, dressing and potato curls provided plenty of reasons to overlook it. The fried rice came in a hefty portion, with sizable pieces of bacon and sausage. The chicken I didn't realize was boneless based on the shape of the deep fry, but it was nice to freely bite into it without worrying about hitting anything with my teeth. Probably a bit too much on fried bits but still good. Pork chops had a better meat to crisp ratio in my opinion, as well as juiciness. They even came with ketchup on the side, which I love as a pairing but don't see much of at restaurants. My favorite meat item was definitely the sizzling boneless kalbi. The presentation on the sizzling plate with a side of kimchi was spectacular, and the meat was full of flavor. We also ordered yakisoba, which wasn't part of the prix fixe. Tasted good but nothing past standard expectations. We let the waiter know we had a 30th birthday at the table, and they brought a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream with a candle, and did a decent job getting the whole room to participate in the singing. It could also be the type of crowd this place attracts, since it seemed that everyone was so friendly and approachable. Thanks to the quick and consistent service, we were out in a little over an hour with no complaints.

Although everything was so good. Service was insanely fast and super friendly. Lots of outdoor tables with umbrellas, the place was pretty busy but we were able to get seating and we got our food in seconds.

While they do have a parking, I suggest just parking on the street and walking up to the place. Signs clearly direct you to which window you can order food from and another for food pickup/dessert only ordering. We opted for combo plate (kalua pork and chicken long rice) w/ a side of poi. Both the kalua pork and chicken long rice were tasty but wished we had ordered rice instead so that i could mop up the delicious fat from the kalua pork! Loved the haupia pudding but wished they would give you a bit more. For dessert we ordered the tahitian sweet lady which was delicious! Wasn't a fan of the salmon lomi as it was pretty fishy for me. As we waited for our food, we noticed a dessert chilling on the ledge and joked with my wife that it was likely ours. Sure enough after 10 mins, the ice cream guy asked the cashier whose it was and at that time was our number called. Sadly, the ice cream had already started to melt. Wished they wouldn't have prepared the dessert until after our food was ready. Would definitely head back for their plate lunches and to try the sweet lady of waiahole dessert.

The owner was very friendly and took the time to recommend dishes for us, including the laulau and lechon kawali. We also ordered the BBQ short ribs. Overall, it was a good experience trying Hawaiian food, but it's just not really our type of cuisine. The laulau was quite dry, and the preparation felt more like meat that had been boiled or cooked in liquid, which isn't something I usually enjoy. The lechon kawali had a crispy pork belly texture, topped with something similar to a salsa, but it didn't suit our taste either. Unfortunately, the cabbage served with it also had some black spots, which was off-putting. The BBQ short ribs were the highlight of the meal and the dish we enjoyed the most. We appreciate the experience and the hospitality, but the flavors just didn't quite match our personal preferences.

Either the owner or the manager seemed like a one man show. He was the server, bus boy, and chef. Husband got the pipikalua short ribs/he enjoyed. Sisters got the pork lau lau which came with sweet potato, rice or poi, lomi lomi salmon (more onion and tomato than salmon). i got the chicken lau lau, again stuffed with chicken, not enough taro leaves. The Haupia was smoky, so either burnt or something- inedible! Only six tables in the entire restaurant. The gentleman that was serving us I believe was also the bus boy, cook, server and cashier! Place is a hole in the wall with missing ceiling tiles and exposed panels above our table (gross!!). Sis loves this dive so we keep coming back!
