Had a wonderful time at Ordinaire for happy hour last night with my coworkers. This was my second time dining here, as I came in for restaurant week. During restaurant week, I had the She crab soup & side salad that was fabulous. Presentation was beautiful with a mini crabcake and greens on top. This time for happy hour we sampled the entire happy hour food menu and also indulged in the hand cut french fries. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. I enjoyed that the shrimp could be ordered either fried or grilled. The prices were very reasonable for both food and drinks. Our waiter took great care of us, making sure we got our additional orders in before HH was over. The restaurant itself self is very chic with decorative wallpaper behind the bar and cute upholstered barstools. This may be our new favorite happy hour spot in downtown Norfolk! read more

My husband and I ate here for the first time this past Saturday and we're blown away! We started with the salmon bites that she crab soup - AMAZING. I don't know what they put in the little honey sauce that came with the already cooked to perfection salmon bites ... but that sauce was so good my husband asked our waitress for some to pair with his entree. The she crab soup was savory and lite, the perfect portion size. Everything was delicious, from drinks and appetizers to dessert. We always appreciate an appropriately sized menu too, because it's usually a sign that the food will be consistent and perfected. The ambiance was very classy, yet chill and low key. We even got a chance to chat with the owner. She is so kind and personable, and you can tell she genuinely appreciates her staff. She spoke so highly of them! 10/10 experience!!! Love this restaurant and I think we just found our perfect date night spot. The music was romantic and soft r&b played throughout our meal (4:30-6pm). Babyyyy when I tell you the food was DELICIOUS round after and round, we ordered apps (salmon bites and crab bisque soup) and mains (Tuscan chicken -chefs special, and the Cajun seafood pasta) and whewwww!!!! Bring your appetite & Bring your bae, you about to have an incredible dining experience. The service was exceptional and our waitress Tequila was on top of orders, drink refills and went above and beyond for us without breaking a sweat. The rest of the staff were friendly, professional and came to check on us to make sure things were going smoothly! Had a great time celebrating my brother's 58th birthday! The service was good and the food quite tasty! Owners were so nice and personable, checking to make sure we had what we needed...now those shrimp & grits were delicious. You gotta try it yourself. Visited this restaurant around 9:30PM after seeing SIX the musical at Chrysler Hall. When we initially walked in we were the only people in the restaurant besides the staff and owner. Another couple joined shortly after. Everyone greeted us and was very polite. We were seated quickly and ordered drinks. I went to the bathroom before looking at the food menu. It was very clean. They have this cute Versace wallpaper in the bathroom and main dining area. We asked for recommendations on the menu. I ordered the fried deviled egg with shrimp, my sister ordered the fried deviled egg with crab (not pictured) both were great but I liked the crab better. My drink came out quickly (not pictured) and was a strongggg crown and coke lol It was great tho. Only needed to order one drink. For dinner I got the lamb chops, mashed potatoes and collards. I believe it originally came with asparagus and they were out and using Brussels sprouts as a substitute. Not a fan of Brussels sprouts so I asked what other vegetable was recommended and she said collards. Now... I typically will never eat collards outside of my home, family or holiday meals but I will say these greens passed. A plus they used smoked turkey instead of ham. Mashed potatoes were so creamy. And the lamb chops were seasoned and cooked well. I ate about half of this meal before getting too full to finish. Meal was a 10/10 the table next to us has a friendly conversation with the chef who also spoke with us. We were greeted by the partner owner of the store. She was very polite and made sure to speak to us as we were leaving. I love black owned restaurant with great, fast service! I will definitely be back! read more

It is rare that I visit a restaurant and can't wait to write a review. Ordinaire extraordinarily checks all the boxes. Food-outstanding. Service-impeccable. Ambience-exactly what you need in music and aesthetics. I had the She Crab appetizer. My son joked that they wouldn't need to wash the cup. My entree was Shrimp and grits, cooked perfectly and well-seasoned. My adult son had charbroiled oyster appetizer and lollypop lamb chops, mashed potatoes and asparagus. We laughed as he inhaled the oysters and he raved about the dinner. Please do yourself a favor and book a reservation. read more

Food is amazing and as someone who doesn't eat pork, I was super please with the many non-pork options (actually the whole kitchen is pork free). We dug into the food so quick I didn't take pictures, but the brunch burger and the Cinnamon Toast Crunch French toast were amazing! It seems like everything was made fresh and in house. It took an hour to get out appetizers and almost 3 hours to get our food. The food came out in sperts, the first person was finished when the last person got there food. The food was great, but I had no appetite after 3 hours of waiting. It's too small to accommodate the volume, not enough staff or chefs. First to start with the place was absolutely amazing! Today was a raining day which Ordinaire has very nice floors which in turn were very slippery so just be careful! My girlfriend ended up slipping and everyone was so accommodating! They provided us with complimentary drinks and appetizers which was just spectacular. The service and people working are wonderful and would recommend this place to anyone. The food almost tops the service. With the crab dip being addicting to the lamb chops and the salmon that were cooked beautifully. Perfect date night recommendation and thank you to everyone who was working today. read more

Would not recommend this place. Walked in at 830 pm. Ordered appetizers and entree at the same time By 915 pm we walked out as we never received appetizers or entrees. Everyone seated on the first floor had zero food in front of them as well for that entire duration. Also they were playing the music super loud & waitress was whispering so it made it hard to hear her. We asked how long would the food be after waiting 20 minutes & she said she would find out, but never came back. They blame a party of 30 being the reason for the delay, but that party said they ordered and let the restaurant know 4 hours ahead of time! read more

My experience at Ordinaire was anything but ordinary. The food was incredible, some of the best food I've had in Norfolk! I was able to visit when Chef Wimbo was there, and I ordered the crab stuffed salmon, gouda mac and cheese, and collards. Oh my goodness. The food was packed with flavor; as full as I was, I could not stop eating. The second time I went, we shared the orange chicken and the shrimp lo mein - these meals were complex, fresh, and full of flavor. The BEST orange chicken and lo mein that I have ever had. The service is on point, and the ambiance is great, with great music playing in the background. Overall, I highly recommend Ordinaire. It will not disappoint. read more
