My friend took us to this place for dinner and the food was so good! The staff was friendly and welcoming and the owner was very nice. The Cajun seafood pasta was sooo flavorful that I had to thank the chef personally. You should definitely check this place out when you're in Norfolk.

Stopped into Ordinaire for some food and a drink after work. Our server was new but she wasn't friendly and looked annoyed that she had to be there. She did check on us throughout but her attitude gave off a bad vibe. We ordered the wings, deviled eggs, fries, and salmon bites. The food SLAYED. It was so freaking good. The salmon bites dipping sauce was *chef kiss* I ordered a southern sangria and it was nice. I wanted wine, however, they do not have a a big selection. I'm talking like one dry, one sweet and that's it. The bar was super cute when I looked online but I probably should have researched ahead to make sure they actually served drinks other than cocktails. Despite our waitress and lack of wine, the quality of the food more than made up for it. (4/5)

Ordinare was around the corner from a hotel (The Glass Light) I was staying at so I decided to give them a try. It was around 7:30pm on a Friday. Upon arrival the lower level was empty with only one party seated. The restaurant appears to be two levels. They have some seats at the bar on the lower level and you can also see the cooks in the kitchen with the way it's set up. The lighting is dim but bright enough to still read the menu. Chairs are comfy and the place looks aesthetically pleasing. The hostess greeted us, asked if we had reservations we said no and then she seated us. The server said she would be right with us and after about 7 mins she came over to greet us and drop off water. I think the other party was just seated too and that's what took her a while. Then another 6 or 7 mins passed before she came back to take orders. Our server was Ziggy and she was pleasant. I was torn between two drinks and per Ziggy's recommendation I went with the Southern Sangria. For a starter I chose the she crab soup and for my entree I went with the glazed salmon that was paired with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I subbed the asparagus for brussel sprouts. The soup was a tad bit salty but still tasty. My entree was mid. The best part of it was the salmon. The salmon was moist, right flavor and piping hot. But sadly it was placed on top of warm mashed potatoes that had no memorable flavor and my brussel sprouts were overly cooked. It appeared as tho the sides were premade and the salmon was the only part made to order. This resulted in the food being different temps ranging from piping hot to lukewarm. The presentation of the food was ten out of ten but definitely lacking in flavor and temperature. As time went on more parties started to show up and then it became very loud coupled with the guests and the music playing. Overall decent experience. I would return but I'd try some different food items. My friend ordered a lemon drop, lamb chops and crab dip and she was pleased with her meal. Maybe I'll try that next time.

1st time here, came for a brunch date with a friend. Started with a French 75 which is my go to brunch drink. For food we had the shrimp and grit and the lamb chops and grits. The grits and sausage were tasty but not hot temp wise. The fried shrimp was a unique combination with grits but it worked well. The lamb chops were very good and seasoned well. Very good 1st experience, looking forward to coming back!

The restaurant has a great ambiance with excellent service. Our company waitress, Xi, was delightful and attentive. We were there for happy hour, reasonable prices, and good drinks. I had a lemon drop and charbroiled oysters, which were very good. However, the happy hour food menu was minimal, and customers should be able to order full meals during happy hours. Once the happy hour ended, I ordered the Caesar salad with salmon. However, the salmon wasn't cooked all the way through. But I will definitely return, the service and drinks were excellent.

I came to this spot for a Vibes event hosted Rob Hill and decided to try there food while I was there. I ordered the wings and the presentation and taste of it was all so good! The service was also good. I did not have to wait long for my food and our waiter constantly checked up on us.

This establishment is located off Plume Street where the old Brothers restaurant used to be. I spent a while at the front door before someone acknowledged me. Once seated, Jasmine was a great waitress. We had the salmon bites, wings, Marconi and cheese, she crab soup. The salmon bites and wings were really good, packed with flavor and fresh. The she crab soup was really salty. The Mac and cheese lacked the cheesy flavor that I'm use to.

    Salmon was ok. Nothing special

Service was excellent, food was top tier and the ambiance was a great vibe! This is my third time there I've gone twice for dinner and once for brunch. My favorite was a Chefs special Tuscan Chicken and the Shrimp.and Grits. I have nothing but good things to say!

Ordinaire has been a place I've wanted to try ever since it's grand opening so I grabbed my girlfriend and we decided to dine in on a Saturday evening. I called and made reservations ahead of time for 7pm, uncertain of how busy it may be on a Saturday but when I arrived at 7pm, it wasn't busy at all. The lady at the front was very pleasant and welcomed us in. Our server stopped by our table right away. I asked her for some good drink recommendations and she mentioned that the Southern Sangria was pretty popular, so I ordered that and it was very tasty! Since I scanned the menu prior to arriving, the Chargrilled Local Oysters were definitely something I wanted to try. From having thoroughly enjoyed them in New Orleans, I figured they were going to be just as good. We also decided on the Deviled Eggs as well. For our entree, we both ordered the Ordinaire Glazed Salmon. Our appetizers came out fairly quickly. Unfortunately, the oysters were a bit disappointing. They were the smallest oysters I've ever had and the taste was mediocre. The Deviled Eggs were okay, the added bacon did help give it some flavor. My friend's entree came out first and for some reason, there was a mix up in the kitchen because I didn't get my food until at least 15 mins after her. We both ordered the same thing so I was a bit unsure as to how the mixup happened but they were very apologetic. The salmon was pretty small, in my opinion, and was a bit underwhelming. It also could've used more flavor. It did come glazed but most of the glaze was underneath the mashed potatoes, which made them very sweet. The mashed potatoes seemed to be a tad bit watery but did have good flavor. The Brussels sprouts were also glazed and tasted pretty good. The decor and vibe of this restaurant is absolutely wonderful and I could see myself stopping in for drinks but the food missed the mark for me. If I do visit again, I hope I have a better experience.

It's our first time here! Yay!!

I was taken care of by the chef and she was very helpful with the menu. They have so many appetizing options on their mostly healthy, all fresh menu. I love soup, so I love that they offer several each day, with some standards, plus a soup of the day, which on the day I visited was cream of potato. Where I sat at the counter, I could watch them making all the food and I was impressed to see that they don't just ladle soup into a bowl to serve it, they actually cook and prepare, then dress it to plate it perfectly. Their cream of potato was really good and not the traditionally made where the potato is pureed into the soup - rather they make a creamy soup base and then add potatoes to it. The combo of the soup, a small piece of potato, scallion, and a small piece of bacon really made for a great spoonful in each spoonful I enjoyed!! My coworker got their Asian Chicken Noodle and that looked amazing! He said it was incredible. Next up was the entrée and we both got their lamb gyro.... It's not the traditional gyro, it's an openfaced style, just like their chicken salad toast. It was really good! The tzatziki was great on it! And we also got a side of their cucumber feta salad... this tasted fresh and the feta was vibrant, with the combo of the cucumber and feta together being incredibly tasty. Overall, another very nice visit to a Stockpot restaurant... Looks like I need to try their Chesapeake location to get the trifecta of Stockpot! Highly recommend stopping in!

A few minutes after we placed our order, we were informed that they were out of breakfast potatoes, which was surprising since it was still before 10 a.m. This limited some of the breakfast options, so I ended up ordering the Selden Breakfast (a biscuit sandwich), a kid's chicken noodle soup, a biscuit on the side, and a lavender matcha. The sandwich was delicious, especially after adding the garlic aioli. My only complaint was that the biscuit wasn't served warm, and I think warming it would have elevated the sandwich. The biscuit we ordered on the side was also not warm. The lavender flavor in the matcha was enjoyable, but the drink itself missed the mark. The color and matcha flavor seemed off, and it wasn't mixed well--I could see clumps of matcha powder sitting in the ice. On a positive note, my nephew really enjoyed the chicken noodle soup. Overall, I was a bit underwhelmed by the experience, but there were enough positives that I'd be willing to come back and give it another try.

From the moment we walked into Oceanview Diner, we felt at home. There was an immediate warmth--like stepping into what America is supposed to feel like--people talking, laughing, and genuinely connecting over good food. The attention to detail was impossible to miss. Fresh-cut flowers sat on each table, adding a simple but thoughtful touch. Before our meals even arrived, we were served homemade herb focaccia with olive oil--an unexpected and appreciated gesture. And yes, even the water stood out. Being near the ocean, you often get that slightly earthy taste, but this water was clean, crisp, and clearly filtered. Now, the food. I ordered the Parmesan-crusted chicken with roasted potatoes and collard greens. The chicken was juicy (not dry at all) and cooked perfectly--something that sounds simple but is rarely executed this well. The collards were good, though I personally would've liked just a touch more salt and a splash of vinegar to bring them fully to life. My partner ordered the fried flounder with asparagus and mashed potatoes and had nothing but praise. Not a single morsel was left on the plate, which tells you everything you need to know. Oceanview Diner delivered not just a meal, but an experience rooted in care, pride, and hospitality. I visited a Hampton Roads Restaurant group on FB and asked if someone was visiting from out of town: What is your go-to place to take them? Out of 90+ comments, No Frill Bar and Grill was mentioned the most - six times! So when I finally had a day off and some other business to tend to in Norfolk, it was the perfect excuse to finally try them. No Frill Bar and Grill has been open for nearly 30 years by Jerry Meltsner. Jerry's nephew Jon Kliner helps co-own and manage operations. It originally opened on Tidewater Drive, but the space didn't allow for much growth - 10 years later, he moved to a location off Colley Avenue and Spotswood Avenue. Growth continued, moving from counter service to table service. The second location, at 1620 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach, opened in 2005. The restaurant's longevity stems from quality, consistency, price, service, and staff who genuinely care about the business and serving the community. I asked the server for her opinion on two options - Salmon, Shrimp and grits won. The dish was incredible: lightly blackened salmon, for once blackened food that doesn't just taste like salt. I don't dine with the swine, so I asked for no andouille sausage. The sautéed shrimp, caramelized onions, tomatoes, and spinach simmered in Norfolk Canyon ale sauce over cheesy grits and Boursin lavash cracker. The cheesy grits were smooth, and the Boursin lavash cracker was a nice touch. The Boursin added extra creaminess to the meal. The cracker wasn't really a cracker - more like little toasted bread. After this first meal, I know two things for sure: 1. I definitely understand why it is such a local favorite, and 2. I will be back.
