Date night on a Sunday. Everything was absolutely amazing from the dinner, dessert and service! You feel like a welcomed guest dining here. The employees are friendly and you literally want for nothing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The property is absolutely beautiful too![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you want to impress this is the perfect place, you will not be disappointed.

Jasheem made our night. Excellent service from him and all the staff & the shrimp were delicious just like I remember them. Thanks for making the 3 birthdays at the table special One piece of feedback to the manager, please introduce yourself when you approach tables. We were a little confused as to who you were. ‍

I had a lovely dinner here for my birthday with my husband. You need to make a reservation. We went on a Tuesday night at 7 and the place was absolutely packed- hard to find a parking spot busy. Inside the tables are quite close together but it still feels upscale at each table setting. The servers are attentive and fantastic. The food and drinks were excellent. My husband has the paella and enjoyed it! The boozy milkshakes are a nice touch to end the evening.

We were there for dinner . Once you reach, it gives you a farm house vibe. We had booked the space for an office gathering. There is this bar where we were served with drinks and cheese and sone fruits. After that we were seated at the dining hall and narrated the history of the place. Next we were served the green salad and 1 out of the 3 entree choice. Which were crab cake, steak and salmon. The dessert options were cheesecake and chocolate cake. It was an amazing experience with some amazing good. Loved it!

My husband and I came for our first wedding anniversary. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A beautiful venue with old school fancy restaurant vibes inside, from the wood walls and roaring wood burning fireplace.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The weather was terrible, so we didn't get to explore outside, but we definitely will in the future! The service was impeccable, and the food was delicious. My husband ordered the lamb lollipops as an appetizer. The unique presentation made me think of Dr. Seuss, but he absolutely loved them. As a Brit, he was thrilled to find Beef Wellington on the menu, and said it was outstanding. I had the filet, which was also perfectly done. Can't wait to come back!

Huh, no wonder they're still up. The oldest. restaurant. In Virginia. Crazy. Good. Food. Good vibes by the water , in a neighborhood wutttttt? Went here for my birthday and it did not disappoint. Got their freshly picked fig and prosciutto wrap and that was the best dish of the evening. Beat the wellington hands down. Quaint vibes with the waiter being attentive to us. Granted he was my wife's childhood friend but eh. Service is service. Gottttaaaa go again to try out the other stuff.

Steinhilber's is tucked away in cozy neighborhood, it offers a beautiful view of the water, making it romantic and relaxing spot. The staff at Steinhilber's are friendly, attentive, and if you ask they can give so good recommendations on what to try. My girlfriend and I ordered the paella, beef stew, and oysters Rockefeller -- all of which were absolutely delicious. The combination of outstanding food and excellent service makes this a place I'll definitely return to.

Went here for my birthday dinner with wife and daughter. We were seated right away outside. Beautiful location looking out at the gardens and water in the distance. Service provided by our waiter Reed was excellent. I ordered steak and scallops, wife ordered fresh Halibut and daughter ordered Duck and Truffle Risotto Everyone was very happy with there entre. Just a couple of comments though- No bread was offered just some very boring toast. The scallops were smaller than expected and finally two excellent surprises were how good the truffle risetto was and especially the apple pie dessert

Service definitely great. A waitress opened main entrance and led me to the hostess desk. They immediately confirmed my reservation and read that I had requested for a window seat, which I got. The server was very friendly, immediately asked if I've tried their popular shrimp dish whether as appetizer or entree. They had tiny dehydrated toast like the primo ones available in Asian stores. They also served bread although not soft/pillowy warm. It was dry and semi hard. Would have been better not serving bread and serve amuse bouche of their popular shrimps, just a suggestion! I ordered the octopus and fillet mignon with side of broccolini. The octopus was crispy on the outside but very tender on the inside. The octopus tentacle was a decent portion, loved it. The filet mignon came as I ordered: medium well with slight pink. Their house made steak sauce is good, pairs wonderfully with the steak. The broccolini was slightly overcooked, not as crispy to the bite as I had hoped.

    Filet med to perfection!

Tonight at STEINHILBER'S From valet parking to the final bite of a flawless experience, The filet mignon was perfect temperature at medium, the sautéed crab meat as a side was tender and sweet, the brussels sprouts as a side we're roasted to perfection and piping hot. Rod, was celebrating his 53rd birthday today. We split a wedge salad, a beautiful balance. The blue cheese was fresh and lovely. Rod had fried shrimp always a house favorite. We finished off with the Keylime pie. The best I've ever tasted... so light and airy and what would appear to be a crème Dement type item spread on the plate. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A true returning of an early visit in the 70s or 80s of what I remember to be Steinhilber's at their best.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] What a wonderful way to start out the new year, which is almost here!...with old friends and a five star rating of food. Thank you, Dan Hunt Ghent Antiques.

Came here for date night and to close out my birthday week. We had a reservation so we were seated quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We had a table by the window so we had a great view.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was amazing!! The waiters were very attentive and gave great recommendations. My husband and I split the ceasar salad and she crab soup. After thresher told my husband the oysters were local farm raised & fresh, he tried 6 which he really enjoyed. Got entrees my demand got the New York strip, mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts since he knows I love them! I got the lobster thermidor. Both dishes were great!! My husbands steak was cooked perfectly and those mashed potatoes were amazing!! The rosemary made them a star!! The brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly. My fish was great, the pasta was cooked perfectly and the fish was super flavorful. The lobster was very fresh. I tried their limoncello blueberry martini and my husband got a glass of Chardonnay. We both enjoyed our drinks. For dessert we got the carrot cake, which was great as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Definitely a great spot for date night or for a celebration.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely will be back when it's warmer to sit outside.

We had reservations at 7:30 and arrived about 20 minutes early. They still seated us promptly. We had to remind the hostess that we requested the patio but that was no problem. The patio was beautifully lit. Our table had a fire pit in the middle so even tho I was in a dress, I was still warm. It took a while for our drink orders to be taken but our waiter had a large and talkative party close to our table. I believe it was the manager that stayed outside on the patio. Checking on tables, helping when needed. She even took a picture for a cute couple, which I thought was sweet. I ordered sangria which was tasty, my boyfriend had a coffee and said it was the best coffee he has ever had. We are going to inquire about purchasing some, if possible. The place is rustic and still has an old time feel. I really appreciated how the staff was dressed very professional. The vibe is very classy but not snobby. There were people in flannels to very nice evening gowns. We didn't get the impression that anyone was judgy. The crab cake was phenomenal. No filing. Get the Steiny sauce with it! The twice baked potato was also full of flavor. My boyfriend had the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. It melted in your mouth and the flavor was on point. We had the scallop casino for an appetizer and he had the she crab soup. The soup was full of meat and thick. It was good. The sauce complimented the seafood perfectly for the casino. The prices are higher than many places but you definitely pay for the quality and experience here. It is obvious through the presentation and flavor that things are cooked to order, fresh and not frozen. The atmosphere, staff and food made our date night one to remember. The only thing I would change is to have more than one bathroom on the first floor. It was very clean though. We'd like to go back during the day so we can enjoy the view of the water. Highly recommend.

I've heard nothing but great things about Steinhilber's so I couldn't wait to try them out for a friend's birthday dinner. Steinhilber's is a beautifully quaint restaurant hidden in a neighborhood near Town Center. The exterior landscape of the restaurant was absolutely stunning at night and the outdoor seating included fire pits to keep you warm. We made reservations for 5:45pm on a Sunday and the table was ready upon arrival. The servers were very informative of the menu and provided the specials for the evening which all sounded great. We were also served complimentary bread which was warm and tasty. Our food was served fairly quickly. I decided on the Crab Cake with Twice-Baked Potato and it was absolutely amazing. The Crab Cake was a great size and full of fresh crab meat. The Twice-Baked Potato was also very good but I did have to add some salt. I tasted my friend's Filet Mignon and it was divine, especially with their homemade sauce. The restaurant manager, Kelly, came by to check on us, which I really admired. She was awesome and welcomed me to the restaurant. I wish I could give 10 stars for my experience! Everything about this restaurant was amazing and I can't wait to return.

Ask the Community - Steinhilber's Restaurant

Do they offer a happy hour?

    No unfortunately

Is this a good place for elementary age kids? Is there a place for them to play/run around while we eat outside?

Not really. It is pretty dignified.

Are small dogs in a carrier permitted in your outdoor area?

I didn't see any pets when I went there. Sorry

Do you have outside seating for 7?

They do have outdoor seating, and I'm pretty sure they can accommodate a party of seven. Call them and ask for sure.

    What's the normal dress attire?

Mainly business casual and a great place to dress up for any occasion.

    Is there a children's menu?

We had a family with two toddlers in a stroller placed right beside my family. They were never taken out of the stroller, just coughing and touching our table the entire time. And saying Hi the entire time. I was not there to entertain these two children. I was surprised the host/hostess didn't notice or ask the family to put the children at the table. The server had to maneuver to get around them. As far as our meal, the rib eye was great! Beautiful cut of beef, yet the butter was way too much and over powered the taste. Way too greasy. This does have the potential to be an amazing restaurant but the other factors really do come in to play when dining. And adding 20% tip to a 4 top was a bit much. The server would have received a larger tip if it wasn't added. Without telling me. I would like to try it again and hopefully not have the negative factors ruin the experience.

This was our first visit, but it certainly won't be our last. We were fortunate to grab two seats at the bar--our favorite place to dine--and from the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller, which arrived piping hot. The oysters were large, flavorful, and perfectly prepared--a wonderful way to begin the evening. Our Caesar salads followed shortly thereafter. Crisp romaine, fresh ingredients, and a well-balanced dressing made for another excellent course. For our entrées, we both chose the steak and lobster tail. My wife paired hers with the grilled asparagus, while I opted for the loaded mashed potatoes. Every component of the meal was cooked exactly as ordered, seasoned beautifully, and absolutely delicious. To top off the evening, the staff surprised my wife with a complimentary slice of cake garnished with fresh strawberries and mixed berries to help celebrate her birthday. It was a thoughtful gesture that made an already memorable evening feel even more special. Prime 757 delivered exceptional food, outstanding service, and a warm atmosphere that made my wife's birthday celebration one we'll remember for a long time. We left impressed and are already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended.

Stopped by for a burger and a beer to drown in my solitude. Had great service. Prompt, attentive and genuine. If it wasn't for some derogative guy whining off the bell about how the service wasn't up to par every couple minutes I'd have enjoyed what would've been quite a depressing day for me. The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV

From the moment we arrived, the hostess, Milk, was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and professional. She made us feel valued from the start, and throughout the evening she continued to provide excellent service to every table she assisted. She truly deserves recognition and a promotion. Unfortunately, our assigned server provided one of the worst dining experiences I've had. After taking our food and drink order, she returned only with our drinks and then disappeared for 15-20 minutes without checking on us. My friend's daughter's entrée arrived before our appetizers, and our appetizer--fried hard chicken wings--didn't arrive until about 20 minutes later. When we asked about the delay, the server said it was because we requested the wings to be fried hard. She then made a comment about "Black people in the kitchen cooking." Whether she intended it as a joke or not, the comment was unprofessional and made us uncomfortable. Because of the poor service and attitude, we asked if another server could assist us. While Milk continued to be wonderful, another employee with purple-blue hair was also very rude when we asked for assistance. Her attitude was dismissive and unpleasant. Later in the evening, around 11 p.m., I asked a staff member near the kitchen if they had lids for our seafood buckets. She responded "No" with an attitude. I then asked if they had to-go cups, and she said they did but claimed she was off duty. Less than 30 seconds later, she went behind the bar and began making and serving drinks, which made her response even more confusing. Shortly afterward, she began arguing with my friend at our table for no apparent reason. At that point, we asked Milk to get the manager. The manager came over, sat down with us, listened to our concerns, and apologized. He explained that he was actually off that day but had come in to help support the restaurant. We appreciated that he took the time to hear us out and said he would address the issues with his staff. The food itself was good, but good food cannot make up for poor customer service and disrespectful attitudes. We wanted this to be a memorable celebration for my friend's daughter, not an evening spent dealing with rude employees. Customer service is just as important as the food. Sadly, because of the experience we had, we will not be returning. I hope management invests in better customer service training because employees like Milk show what great hospitality should look like, while others left a very negative impression.

It was challenging to find parking but thankfully, we were able to find a spot right in the front. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and were seated right away. With it being lunch time, we assumed we would be able to grab some lunch but to our surprise, they were serving brunch and we were only able to order off the brunch menu. We were slightly confused and definitely didn't have taste for breakfast items so we had to choose from a small selection of non-breakfast items. We started with Palomas. The drink menu only included the drink prices for Happy Hour, and it definitely wasn't Happy Hour, so we weren't sure how much the drinks were. The server mentioned one price, then came back and told us another price but either way, all that would've been eliminated if the prices were on the menu. After looking over the brunch menu, my friend didn't see anything appetizing so she asked if they could make a BLT Sandwich, which wasn't on the menu, and they agreed. I decided on the Crab Cake Sandwich. The food was served in decent time. My friend had an end piece of tomato on her sandwich, which was disappointing. Our server took her sweet time checking on us so and we literally had to flag down another server just to get ketchup. My sandwich didn't even come with remoulade sauce that was supposed to be added. I did enjoy my sandwich though, it was very tasty. I also ordered the Bourbon Glaze Wings 'to-go' and they were delicious. From not being able to order from a lunch menu, to our server not being attentive at all, our experience wasn't that great. We also had to battle flies the entire time we were there, and we were sitting inside so that was a bit frustrating. The restaurant is located right by the Marina and it has great views but the service left a lot to be desired. I may return for dinner in hopes of a better experience but it probably won't be any time soon.

I believe I was talking to the owner while I was there, and one thing that stood out was how he greeted everyone with a smile. I don't take customer service like that for granted. You could tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, and that made the experience even better. As for the food, everything was very well seasoned and flavorful. I ordered the fish and shrimp basket, and it was exactly what I was looking for. I also tried the wings, and those were good as well. Honestly, I don't have any complaints about the meal. They don't have any specialty house-made drinks, just your standard Pepsi and Coca-Cola products, but that wasn't a big deal to me because the food was the star of the show. Overall, this was a great experience. If I'm back in Virginia Beach, I'll definitely be stopping by again to try some of the other items on the menu. This is a spot I'd recommend if you're looking for good seafood and good people.

Finding out that he's a military veteran was a big plus for me and definitely added to the experience. The restaurant itself is small and cozy with seating for about seven people which gives it a welcoming personal feel. As soon as you walk in you're greeted warmly and made to feel right at home. I ordered the Crabby Cali Cake combo sandwich and it was delicious. You can tell care goes into the food the homemade sauce really brought everything together and made the sandwich stand out. Simple flavorful and satisfying. If you're looking for a friendly atmosphere and quality seafood with a personal touch this spot is worth checking out.

It was a wonderful burst of light during the cold months our first year here. Since then, my husband and I have come back for each night of the week. He love Tomahawk night! I have enjoyed each time we've visited and I can't wait to celebrate milestones with my loved ones here over and over!

Both the host and our server were very friendly. The restaurant itself is nice - it has a dark, masculine decor vibe. While I loved the types of chairs they use, I will say their tables for two are very small. They had this little side table type of thing and that was where I had to put my purse and some of the extra dishes to have room. We had the Wyagu Ribeye and the Picahna steak. Both were very good and cooked to perfection. I had the risotto which I didn't feel was cooked right; it had a gummy texture. The Cesar salad was one of the best I've had. I am not sure if their dressing is house made but it was very good and the addition of prosciutto was a nice touch! I also had a Paloma that was very fresh! Now this is supposed to be a steak house and cantina. The decor did give traditional cantina vibes, but the menu did not offer many traditional cantina type foods. If you are looking for cantina style dishes, you may find yourself disappointed. We did do the guacamole though, and it was just OK I'd say. Would I come back? For the steak and salad yes. Otherwise it was a little underwhelming to the price!
