It's been a long time since I've been up to Cave Creek, so imagine how pleased I was to find an Oregano's right off the main artery running into town. Oregano's always has banging pasta, and they did not disappoint here. I had a wonderful Bowl O Pasta which is Angel Hair with a meatball added in for good measure. Served with a slice of garlic bread toasted to perfection. I was just stuffed with a single bowl, so it's nice they give you multiple servings if you want, but who can do that? They have a nice outdoor seating area to enjoy while the weather is nice, which won't be for very long, so get out there and try out their patio while the weather permits. read more

I hate to write a bad review of Oregano's because we truly love this place, but unfortunately this visit was anything but something to love. Oregano's is always a tradition for us when my dad visits, we typically go every time on his last night in town. We usually order the Oregano's Favorite salad and a large Bistro Classic, and it's something we always look forward to. We went on a Monday night and were seated right away. Everything seemed fine at first. Our salad came out, but shortly after we overheard a waitress telling a table behind us that there were issues with the pizzas and that theirs would be delayed. Since they were a large party, we didn't think much of it and assumed the kitchen was just backed up. After finishing our salad, the wait for our pizzas became very long. We had ordered a large Bistro Classic and a smaller pepperoni and black olive pizza for the kids. After a while a manager came over to apologize and explained that two of their pizza cooks had called out and the remaining employee was still in training. They eventually brought out the kids' pizza, which looked off, the crust was much thicker than Oregano's usual thin crust. We were told the Bistro Classic was still going to be a wait. When the Bistro Classic finally arrived, the manager apologized again. The pizza was burnt all around the edges, the tomatoes were thick instead of thin-sliced, and they didn't even cover the entire pizza. It looked and tasted nothing like the Bistro Classic we always order. The pizza was thick and doughy, and after trying a slice, it was clear it wasn't salvageable. The manager told us we wouldn't be charged and asked if we wanted to keep it, but we declined. She explained the employee in training was having trouble. We asked if they could make another one to go, hoping someone more experienced could prepare it. They also offered me a glass of wine on the house, but it never came. A few minutes later we were told an oven had gone out, so at that point we just said forget the pizza altogether. Our waitress had disappeared during the chaos so we actually thought maybe she was back there rolling pizza dough. When we saw her again she apologized and mentioned they were out of certain ingredients. The manager offered a free dessert, but my husband and dad declined. Given how long everything had already taken and knowing the kitchen was struggling, we didn't want to wait even longer for something else that might also come out wrong. We asked for the check. When the bill came, the Bistro Classic was removed, but our waitress brought out another Bistro Classic to go -- the one we had asked for before being told the oven was out. That was nice. We took it home and unfortunately, it still wasn't much better. While it wasn't burnt, it was very doughy and the ingredients still weren't what they should have been. Overall, it was just a bad experience from start to finish. Clearly, everything that could go wrong did go wrong in the kitchen -- staff calling out or no-showing, an oven going down, and running out of ingredients. We will come back during my dad's next visit and hope this was just a one-time issue, because Oregano's is usually a place we love and enjoy read more

I was told this is a super kid friendly location, and I was not disappointed. I just needed a good and relaxing dinner even though I was with my 3 and 5 year old grandkids. We had a wonderful server, and exactly who I needed after a long Christmas week, MacKenzie. She was very cheerful and gave the kids dough balls to play with while we ordered our food. The food came quickly. My 3 year old granddaughter looked up at me with noodles dangling from her face, a square of pizza in her hand and shouted out, "this food is so good." Both kids ate until they were in food coma; while I relaxed and enjoyed my meal. I got a chocolate chip cookie to go too. Oh my gosh. I have just arrived here from Ohio and this has got to be one of the best restaurants ever! Is food just better in Arizona. I loved the decor of this little gem. Can't wait to try the other Oreganos. Our waitress was incredibly attentive. I had a lot of questions and she didn't seem to mind answering all of them. This is one of the best pizzas I have had in a long time and the Italian sausage was spot on. So many memories of my youth. I couldn't believe the general manager stopped by to ensure we were having a great dining experience. I wish other restaurants cared as much. We have been at this location several times. Tonight was the END! We ordered (2) each of the Golden Wings for pickup and when we started our dinner we noted the chicken was raw. I love Oreganos and I've been to many in the valley! This one in Cave creek might be on my top 3! Food is always delicious. We love the calamari as appetizer. I can eat a whole basket by my self but shouldn't! The meatballs with marinara is also amazing. Our go to pizza is the numero one O! We had a great dinner last night with friends. It took us a little bit to get seated because we were a party of six, but it was all good. Kaila was our server and she was fantastic! Once we got that settled out our food started arriving accept mine, it took at least 10 minutes longer than everyone else. Granted it was pizza, but the crust was very thin and should not take long.....it was not burned but was cooked longer than needed. Even though I was hungry, it still was not very flavorful. Went to the Cave Creek Oregano's and split a large One-O pizza. Very yummy and super filling since it had loads of toppings and a delicious square-cut crispy thin crust. A great place for a family pizza and a night out - very kid-friendly too. The eye-catching ambiance was a lot of fun with colorful decor, vintage objects covering the walls and ceiling, and vintage B&W tv shows playing on the televisions. Our monthly guys outing chose Oregano's since another new restaurant couldn't accommodate (12) It's a great group, but can be a little challenging with all the different orders and need for individual tickets -- but you'd never know that here thanks to Jennifer! She was awesome, full of energy and so friendly -- we felt right at home. The atmosphere is so good and inviting as well, it's got a great vibe throughout the restaurant and bar. The only knock, and it's not a deal breaker, is the food. I'll give it 4 of 5 stars and just know that it's just good ole fashioned American/Italian comfort food. We'll definitely go back, but if you're looking for a Michelin Star -- this probably isn't your stop. read more

Wow, this was so disappointing. Our pizza was terrible. No sauce at all after asking for extra sauce. The pizza came out quickly but was not hot and all and the toppings were just dumped on the pizza and barely cooked. It seemed like this started out as a pepperoni pizza that just sat under a heater until someone ordered it. They just dumped all the toppings on when we ordered and just threw it in the oven for a few minutes. We let our server know about our issues and all we got was, sorry about your pizza. She asked if we needed a box but it was so bad we didn't want it. We choked down a few piece but that was all we could handle. Surprisingly, a manager never even came by. It had been a while since I had eaten at Oreganos and I was due for a return, 3.5 to be fair. We started with the guacamole with pizza crust chips and for an Italian restaurant they make some good guacamole! Very fresh with a zing. First pizza was number one with sausage pepperoni peppers exc. and it was I would say average, whoever ordered it ordered pan crust which was A LOT of crust I'm more of a thin crust but it certainly wasn't their fault. The second pizza was the BBQ chicken pizza with red onions and scallions as a personal preference I was going along with the group I HATE BBQ anything (yes I am weird) as the night wore on and several glasses of wine later I accidentally raided the wrong leftover pizza box in the fridge and heated up a slice of BBQ and it was pretty darn GOOD BBQ. MY MOUTH IS STILL WATERING! We ordered dinner to go on Saturday. We plan on dining in NEXT Friday bc when we picked up our food-WOW WHAT AN AMAZING ATMOSPHERE! I almost wanted to unpack my to go food and stay all night! FROM THE GET GO-BEST EXPERIENCE EVER! I always say it's who you meet (or talk to on the phone) at the door that is a make or break type deal for me. These people are the face of the business and can either carry them a long way or sink them. MIKKEL-the kitchen mgr-KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK! I was transferred to him to place our to go order. Prior to ordering I joined Oregano's app -which is sooooo awesome. It is user friendly and designed really well. Also as a sign up bonus you get a delicious cheesy bread or garlic bread. So when I called to order I told Mikkel -kitchen Mgr that we were neighbors to Oreganos and that we were so excited to try it. HE WAS SO AWESOME AND HAS THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE OF ANYONE I HAVE EVER TALKED TO! WOW! Mikkel was genuinely so happy that we were trying Oregano's. He assured me we would love it and it more than met our expectations! Mikkel told me about the app and asked if I had signed up for it. How kind was it that he took the time to inquire. He then told me that I would get free cheesy bread. He asked what we wanted to order and when I told him-he was super excited about the items, as one was one of his favorites (el Diablo pasta). He went into great detail about different items on the menu and left me with many ideas for next time. MIKKEL is the face of Oregano's even though I didn't get to meet him-he is responsible for so many things!! He actually made OUR AMAZING, BEST EVER DINNERS! He was so happy that we were trying oreganos that I believe he put his whole heart into our dinner. Well-I have a feeling he does this with every single meal! Bc of MIKKEL-who makes the best food and made us feel like family-we will now dine at Oregano's likely weekly from now on!!! He is definitely a keeper and a huge asset to Oreganos -especially if he is making the best food but is gifted with the best personality, as well. I can't get over how delicious everything was. Who goes to a pizza place and only orders salad? This girl! Went on a hike in the area and then decided we wanted a quick bite before heading home. Seeing Oreganos we pulled into the parking lot and began an online order. The online ordering system is definitely flawed - I see others have commented on that, so I won't harp on it too much. Wish the employees were empowered to help, but they didn't seem to be able to think outside the box. A little ridiculous to wait an hour for 2 salads when they literally just opened their doors and had no cars in the lot...the excuse was the online order system sets the time and they can't do anything about it. Not even cancel the order and redo it. Luckily we weren't starving and I really wanted that salad! Their Pablo Picasso is one of my top ten favorite salads. Fajita chicken, fresh Romaine blend, cotija, cheddar and a four cheese blend, all mixed with fresh cilantro, tomatoes and onion and tossed in a slightly spicy chipotle ranch dressing and mixed with tri-colored corn strips. I typically don't like chicken in my salad, but this chicken is a must on this salad. So good! We also tried the Oreganos Favorite Salad: Fresh Romaine blend, roasted red peppers, our spiced feta cheese, combined with a medley of sundried tomatoes, Kalamata olives, pine nuts and raisins, tossed with our tasty honey vinaigrette dressing and topped with red onions. I complained gravely about their parking lot having a major swimming pool pot hole that really swallowed up my low profile sports cars' belly pan one day. I was really mad.... Our server was nice and she actually was able to answer all of our questions that we had for her about things on the menu and she had a great attitude, the food was good our pizza and wings had good flavor, the fried raviolis were crispy but had a bunch of oil on them, there salads are huge and can feed 3-4 people and we actually talked about how cool the place was decorated inside and how the location used to be an inn a long time ago. The reason for the 3 stars is when I took my 9 month old son to the restroom to be changed there was no changing table in the bathroom. I litterly had to walk out to our car and change my son's diaper. Good thing that it was not super hot outside but then I noticed there were a ton of other families with babies at the restaurant and either they didn't change their kids diapers or changed them where they could. We could not understand why there was not a baby changing station in the restroom. I even asked my husband if there was a changing station in his restroom and he let me know there was not. So in the future if we come here again I'll have to remember there is no changing stations. read more

Oregano's in Cave Creek used to be our favorite haunt. This last year we've gone several times and had a disappointing food experience. Our pizza and the person next to us, their pizza, had no sauce or cheese... Mentioned it to the waitress and she said, that she would bring out sauce that we could dip our pizza in... that totally defeats the purpose. Anyway, there's just too many choices in this area for restaurants, and the competition will hopefully help some of these restaurants improve. read more
