We ordered a couple of pizzas this evening for take out as we live close by. - I had the Numero-One-O and my husband did a BYO. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too salty!!! I could barely choke mine down, and finally just gave up. My husband's wasn't quite as bad, but he ordered green olives on his pizza and they also put black olives on it which he doesn't care for. My husband and I have always loved this place, and we had another great time this past weekend. It was crazy how many people were put in downtown Gilbert, but oreganos did a great job of social distancing. They opened up their private dining area to make sure they could really spread out the tables! As usual, the food was great as well. The food is great. Pizza is thin and we like it that way, the crust is delicious. Oreganos is usually crowded. The place is very tight and very loud. They don't seem to accept large parties very well (we had 8). It took an hour and a half to get our table when we were told 45 minutes. Service was OK, nothing fantastic or notable with our server or staff. Pickup is always a challenge as well as there are many people hanging around and there is general confusion in the atmosphere. Lunch specials are great though, and is probably my favorite time to visit as there is not as many people and the staff has time to work with the customers. read more

Chris was good the only reason he didn't get 5 stars is because he forgot little things like the lemons for our water and the salt on the rim of the beers but besides that he was good and the food was great, besides the calamari they tasted and looked like fish sticks but he was great when we returned it he made sure it was off the bill and the Mac N Cheese was actually the best thing we ordered spicy and very yummy!!!! read more

My husband and I have been loyal customers for years. Tonight that ends. We took a little break because we did feel like the food was going downhill for a while. Tonight we decided to order takeout and were told it would 30 minutes. My husband got there after 30 minutes and was told to wait outside (we have never been asked to wait outside & it was said in a rude manor) - my husband asked where they said wherever you can hear us call your name (the doors were all shut). Well, it ended up taking 50 minutes for our order so we had to wait an additional 20 minutes. Then once he got home, they forgot something. They pretty much have forgotten some part of our order every single time we have ever ordered takeout there. The food tasted mediocre and the only good part was the pizza cookie. The deep dish pizzas are amazing- the cheese is out of this world ! One slice will get you full and that's saying alot because I'm usually a 4 slice eater. Then walks away never comes back and hangs out at other end of bar just leaving me standing there. New server comes out of kitchen and sees me waiting. Says can I help you only to tell me "just a sec" and answers the phone right in front of me. Guess phones are more important that customers standing in front of you. Still waiting. Make your reservations online. Food is very good. Food tastes authentic and the portions are large. Waitstaff used to pack leftovers in box for us, but they don't seem to do that anymore, which always made us feel like they we're going above and beyond. What has happened to Oregano' s Downtown Gilbert?? We have been coming here for years. Tonight left us all with a jaw dropping experience. Terrible. To begin with appetizers. Horrible. Bone-in Chicken wings...no kidding...like drum sticks. Large. Gross. Ravioli. Looked and tasted dried out like it had been waiting days to be served. Calamari. Never presented that way. Looked like half onion rings. Sauce was so thick, no way could you get it on a piece of the calamari. Thin crust pizza. Sausage, pepperoni extra cheese. The sausage resembled dog food spread across in non-specific clumps. Just gross. The salads. Big Beefstro and Vino Bambino. Both served in bowls, much smaller than we ever remember. The Beef Beefstro was just gross. The shaved beef was in clumps. So gross you didn't want to see what else was in the salad. Vino Bambino I didn't try, but whoever did, only had a spoonful. Total bill with tip almost $200. Waiter was really good, but I hope he finds a more reputable place to work at. I don't do reviews, but hope somebody reads this and corrects the PROBLEMS. We will never go back. So sad. Oregano's was one of our GO-TO spots. read more

Oregano's food is good. This service was subpar. I think that this is downtown Gilbert, so it is going to be packed. They are either overwhelmed or under performing. Not terrible but little things in service slip ups like forgetting a drink or part of an order or getting an order completely wrong. They don't seem to care if you are going to return as the bill comes unadjusted and the waitress asks "How was everything?" I just looked on my bank statement. They gave me a refund on my bill. I appreciate it, thank you. Sincerely...Restaurant Manager or corporate person, hear my review and see the pictures! If something is spicy it needs to be clearly labeled on the menu as spicy. When a parent calls asking if a child's dish is spicy, please help the staff answering the phone to say Yes it is spicy....but we have (this) dish that is similar but NOT spicy. Please let your staff know they were not helpful that evening. The meat/salad dish was literally a handful of greens with a flick of cheese and that small portion of meat. There was no care or art demonstrated in that meal. Some people may not care how their food arrives just as long as it gets inside their mouth. I am not like that. Would you be at all inspired to eat that and exclaim "what a marvellous dinner!" Am I expecting too much in these Corona virus quarantine times? I will never come again! I would never recommend! ZERO!!! I invited my important guests to dinner. And a complete fiasco! We waited for 1 hour and Orders came wrong. They completely forgot the kids menu! almost at the end of the meal, a bad pizza slice that we ordered for the kid arrived. Worse still, all the food was horribly bad and very very salty! We were a party of around 15 people. The food was excellent but I am writing this review to also appreciate the hospitality. Our server, Daniel, at the downtown gilbert location was extremely helpful and attentive. Being a big party, he helped us put together the seating arrangement and the tables so that we all could sit together and have a good time. He was very patient, towards the little things we asked for and kept us comfortable. It made our Friday night not only having good food but also a good server. We have been to Oreganos many times and this evening was one of the worst experiences we have ever had. With the exception of the waitress being polite and apologetic, the rest of the service was below average. It took over 10 minutes to get just water and my husband had to ask were the beer was as it took another 10 minute to get that. We ordered one cheese bread and one regular garlic bread, out came both cheese bread. They happily took the other away to throw into the garbage. Then dinner. The 12" pizza was average. Kids each got a kid slice and we're fine. I ordered the Basta Pasta that I have had many many times before. It came with barely warm noodles, no cheese and two olives a couple sun dried tomatoes. The chicken was warm. I said something to the waitress and she happily returned to the kitchen. When the second pasta was delivered I took one bite and this big chunk of brown something was in the pasta. Myself assuming it was sausage (not suppose to be in the dish) asked the waitress to please take it away. The manager then comes back to our table with the brown chunk to let us know it was not sausage, but chicken skin!!! Really, should of left it at sausage. The actual reason we even went out was for our sons birthday (his choice). They both got a cookie desert and both came with ice-cream mush vs cookie and ice-cream on top. When you can't see any of the cookie and the ice-cream looks like whip cream - probably left it sit to long. This Oreganos is not what is used to be here and the service surly has slipped. So I'm pretty much obsessed with Oregano's, any location. Yes, the wait is ALWAYS long and the food takes a while to come out. So plan on a long social lunch/dinner. BUT you can get in line ahead of time with the "NoWait" app and if you keep this in mind ahead of time, it's worth it! Get the Big Rig Pasta with Chicken!! Spicy and sooo good!! I am literally addicted. :) The food is always hot and flavorful. Personally, I don't like the pizza crust and stick to the pastas, sandwiches, salads and desserts. There is plenty without pizza. It's a louder ambiance so maybe not as friendly to the elderly or those looking for quiet dining. But it's fun, enthusiastic and has an old time, 40's/50's vibe. JUST THE WINGS, MA'AM.... In town visiting family and they were insistent on getting some ziti...I just wanted some chicken wings. They came with homemade chips (unbeknownst to me) with each order which were actually good the next day. I had 2 orders of their wings (they come in batches of 10) as hot as they could make them, and had bleu cheese dressing to "cool them down" and an order of fries (they were waffle). I'm accustomed to putting the equivalent of liquid hot magma style wings in my mouth, but I guess this is as close as it gets by Gilbert standards. The flavor was still good with a nice slow burn at the end (hot enough for mere mortals to possibly complain) and was actually a bit better the next day after the sauce had soaked in some more. If you happen to be in the area and want some wings...GET YA SUM!! OH, and the Italian food is pretty good too.... read more
