We heard many great things about Oregon BBQ, and were very excited to try it out. It is unfortunate that it was so disappointing. As far as a drive through bbq, it was great. We got brisket without getting out of the car. However, the quality of food was not even worth 1 star. We got 2 combos, one sausage combo and one with brisket and pulled pork. The sausage tasted like Vienna sausage. The brisket had very little flavor and had no bark on it. it tasted stale and tasted like it was soaked in liquid smoke before it was served. The pulled pork had a nasty after taste to it, like it was old or something was wrong. I had to douse it in bbq sauce to cover up the taste. Came in around 6pm on a Friday night. Ordered the two meat platter with pulled pork and chicken because they were out of brisket. The pulled pork was lifeless and looked like it was served flwith an ice cream scoop. It was gummy and was probably cooked yesterday or the day before. The chicken was good, but the baked beans probably came from a can where they also added yesterday's pulled pork to it. Since they were out of corn as a side dish I also ordered the coleslaw which was dry. So good! We spent 5 months in Texas and had some top notch BBQ and this is right up there with the best. We had ribs and brisket plus slaw and baked beans. I will say the brisket is a bit more lean than some in Texas so it maybe doesn't cut like butter but that's kind of a plus. It's a lot less fatty than some award winning southern bbq we've eaten but doesn't make for an upset stomach later. I stop here from time to time primarily just for ribs. The proprietor parboils (?) them until the connective tissue is glutinous and then smokes them and serves them with a thin wash of some sauce which is just enough for a flavor accent. You can suck the meat off the bones without utensils and that just happens to be my preferred style, but it's not everybody's. It's scratch cooking and smoke intensity varies. Portions are a little less generous than Big D's. A quarter rack is $11. Been a while since I tried any sides but they didn't leave any impression. The pulled pork is wet style, like Lloyd's from a store. Not a putdown, serving is good and generous, but some people prefer their pork dry and doctored with slaw, etc. Friendly folks; auto takeout windows are efficient. read more

This place used to be THE barbecue place to go but it has gone a bit downhill. There seems to only be one person working each time I go with is typically on my way home from work (dinner time) and the last three times they have been out of at least one of the items I'm wanting to order. Hot food isn't very hot, cold food is on the warm side. Potato salad today was lacking any flavor and was watery- which is not typical for them. I average one negative post a year and unfortunately it is for this business that used to be 5 stars. Maybe they're just another victim of people not wanting to work and supply issues. Stopped in today to try their BBQ. After trying BoMacks I about gave up on trying to find a good BBQ joint. Thankfully, I gave this place a shot and was pleasantly surprised. First the negative... They charged me a dollar for a cup of water... Which isn't a huge deal, I mean it's a buck; but then again I'm a firm believer that you should never charge a customer for a cup of water if they are patronizing your establishment. Another negative is they don't have an attached bathroom; instead you must use a porta-potty which was pretty poorly maintained with no hand sanatizer (we are about to eat folks, this needs to be available). The food: EXCELLENT brisket. I had their brisket sandwich and it put BoMacks brisket to absolute shame. Their brisket was moist and tender. Virtually melted in my mouth if you can believe that... The way brisket should be done. The Potato Salad was "good.". Nothing spectacular. It was a too heavy on the mustard and could use more sweetness. The Cole slaw was also "good.". Not excellent but certainly not the best I've had. It was a tad too liquidity. Overall the quality of food for the price is very good and if you're looking for a good BBQ joint in Albany look no further. Don't waste your time with BoMacks. Come here. read more

Fantastic food, fantastic customer service. I ordered the pulled pork with beans and potato salad instead of ordering the pulled pork sandwich which is what I meant to order. When I explained my mistake, they gave me buns for the sandwhich for free! :) The pork and the brisket were 'slap your mom' kind of good. We will definitely be back. read more

If you're from the Carolinas or another place where BBQ is considered it's own food group- you'll be disappointed here. The pulled pork was mushy and too sauced up - no texture at all. The beans were good - but Bush's baked beans are always decent for canned beans. My husbands sausage was plain and too pink on the inside. Potato salad was okay. This is what I have been waiting over 10 years for. This is real Texas style BBQ. They have a big reverse flow smoker out back and an oak wood pile. I have only had the Brisket once, and when you cook Brisket right you don't need sauce. This is the first Brisket I have had in Oregon that didn't need sauce. read more

There's no place to sit. It's hard to find. And it's not the prettiest place. BUT...when the smoker out back is as big as the building itself, you know you're in for some serious BBQ. The service was stellar from the beginning through the end. And I am sooo glad we decided to eat here. Our group of 4 guys sampled nearly everything on the menu. The pulled pork, the ribs, the sausage, the slaw, all great. But the runaway favorites were the brisket and the baked beans. Wow. The meats were impeccably smoked. Tender. Still juicy. And sooo flavorful. The beans were sweet and savory and just like we like'em. The portions are generous and appropriate for the price. Very good place!! I go here at least once a week I get the pulled pork sandwich and the regular bbq sauce so good! My mom has sensitive teeth and she gets the brisket with no bark they always do such a good job at making sure it's soft. BBQ is my first goto wherever I travel. From Miami to Texas, North Carolina to Tulsa, Portland to Beijing and all points in between... I like and try all types of bbq. My favorites tend to be the "low and slow" techniques but flame grilled of anything usually gets my attention. While spending time in central Oregon I came across this place. I do not have to cook my own brisket, they are just too big for one person. The brisket was pretty good not the best I've ever had course this is not Texas. The barbecue sauce was flavorful but a little too thick for my taste and it should be thin down and warmed. I see the potato salad gets high ratings, it was not my favorite I found it a little plain I like pickles in my potato salad could had a little more mustard. The baked beans were good. Decent bbq. I think they do the brisket like my dad does with coffee grounds? I have had better at a lot of places but they still do a pretty good job. I would rather go to Bo Macks. This is a drive thru bbq which I think is a great idea. They are quick and friendly and the food is decent. My wife did not like the brisket because the pieces she received were fatty. Stopped into this place when in the area around lunch time. Yelp search helped me find it as I never would have guessed it was there. Looking at the menu I asked what comes on the sandwiches. He told me they have condiments. To me a sandwich isn't a sandwich if it's just meat between a bun so asked if they come with coleslaw or anything like that. He suggested a hot dog that comes with pulled pork and slaw (can't remember what he called it and can't find it on the menu). I got the sides of chips and potato salad. Everything was very tasty. The dog had good flavor but the pulled pork could have had more consistency (very mushy). Would have preferred a toasted bun with all the liquid from the pulled pork and slaw. I was expecting normal potato chips but when I opened the bag I noticed they were Fritos lay instead. Turns out combining a couple of those with a bite of the potato salad was an awesome combination! Delicious barbecue. It's definitely a drive-through to go take it home kind of plays. When the weather is nice they do have some outside tables but you're in Millersburg across from I5 and just down the way from the rare metals foundry. It's just off the main road which means there's a lot of traffic going up and down to service the various industries that are in Millersburg as well as the traffic noise from I5. If you're not sure where you're from out of town I would get it to go and take it over to Simpson park or even up the freeway to the Santiam rest area which has some nice picnic tables along the Santiam River if you kind a knows around in there a little bit. It's not commonly known Or understood play at the Santiam rest area you can actually drive under the freeway and be able to turn back around and go back south or go back north depending without having to go either up or down the freeway from there and again it's a nice little recreation area in addition to being a rest stop. read more
