This place is my go to. Hands down the best food truck I've been too. I found them once when they were on Pacific blvd and since then it seems like they moved to the barn at hickory station. No worries Kento, I would follow you anywhere. It's around $13.50 for a combo plate (I get chicken and steak) and I think that is absolutely reasonable. The other food trucks in the area charge maybe slightly less but you get cold, mediocre food. I would gladly pay for a plate of fresh made food that feels like it comes right off a hibachi grill. Service is usually pretty quick, but understand that they are cooking you food and not microwaving it, that takes some time. Overall I adore this place and anytime I don't feel like cooking I try to convince my husband to get me something from here. 10/10 will always be a go to for take out. read more

One of the best food spots in Corvallis (probably). I got the veggie plate and it came with more than enough rice, veggies, and tofu! the veggies were grilled along with the tofu, and the rice was stir fried. it also came with their yum yum sauce which was pink and creamy. Not the first reviewer of this place, but the reviewer from Corvallis it appears. Kento has been open a month as of today. I used to live in Japan for 5 years so my Japanese food standards are on the high side. Ordered gyoza and it was very, very good. This food truck has an advantage that the ones on 5th don't. A covered table & chairs in the bay created by the old car wash.... it was nice to sit out of the sun and enjoy my food. There were a couple of out-of-town Japanese students there at the same time and they seemed to enjoy the food also. The staff was not Japanese, but Indonesian. That's not a negative comment but a slight disappointment for me because I like to practice my Japanese whenever possible. read more

Not terrible but expected more based on previous reviews. Steak and shrimp combo - fried rice was decent but I felt that steak and shrimp lacked flavor. Gyoza sauce was sweet and definitely not traditional Japanese gyoza dipping sauce (should be soy sauce, touch of vinegar and spicy sesame oil/rayu). Service was quick and friendly. All in all the flavor just wasn't there. Needed something more. Oh and the pink sauce it came with didn't add much. Wish I could have liked it more. read more

Great choice for something different in the area. I had the chicken and steak combo and I ate and enjoyed every bit of it. The location is a food truck (trailer) but they do have a covered area (old carwash) to sit and eat. The flavors were on point, I'm just on the fence about the price. It rides the line between worth it for the amount you get (which isn't bad). I understand the style of food & convenience ect but it's juuussst riding the line of too expensive. After passing by this place at least 30 times, I finally decided to stop by. I ordered the spicy sukiyaki steak for $10.50 and the gyoza for $3. The gyoza was better than most that I've had, but also smaller. The menu picture didn't quite match expectations, and I felt that each gyoza wasn't quite worth $0.60 each. That said, this is where I would go for gyoza cravings if you're nearby. On to the main course. There was a substantial amount of fried rice, made with perfect amounts of sauces and egg. Unfortunately, there was nothing else in the rice. Not a big deal, just unexpected. The vegetables had decent texture, but the taste was lacking - admittedly, there was a sauce cup that I didn't notice until after I finished, but so many things could have been done to make the vegetables more enjoyable on their own. The steak was delightful and some of the best I've had outside of Korean BBQ, but I was expecting more for the price point. The staff was polite, patient, and receptive. The owner is clearly receptive to feedback, as evidenced by other reviews. Overall, I'm happy I dropped by to satisfy my curiosity; the food was delicious and the staff was welcoming, but the portions were smaller than I was expecting. Places like La Rockita, American Dream Pizza (or MoC, depending on your pizza preferences), and Al Jebal provide 2x to 3x the amount of food per dollar with similar quality and speed. Tacovino, Sada, Tianfu Noodle, and most other sit-down places provide better food at the same price point. This is definitely the best place to quickly satisfy a Japanese grilled meat craving, but it doesn't seem to do anything else better than other options in Corvallis. read more

I got the hibachi chicken with grilled vegetables and fried rice. It was ok. The flavors were kind of bland. The chicken and vegetables didn't have that much of a grilled flavor or grilled colors on them. The sauce was in with the chicken but served on a 3 compartment clam shell box so you have to mix the sauced chicken with the rice and vegetables yourself. I would season more and mix the chicken in with the vegetables and rice on the grill and serve it all mixed and seasoned. Maybe the grill wasn't set hot enough to get a good sear on the meat and vegetables. With the door and windows of the food car open I can see that the smoke from the grill doesn't always directly go up through the hood, maybe the air curtain needs to be rechecked. The portion sizes was fair and good for the money. Healthy ingredients, not greasy. read more

Loved the food! I got chicken hibachi, and my boyfriend got steak hibachi. Everything was wonderful. Their fried rice is seriously so delicious, and their sauces are top notch. A hibachi dinner comes with grilled vegetables, plenty of fried rice, and your protein of choice. The employees working in the truck were beyond kind. They were full of smiles and quick to answer my questions. We felt very welcomed. We will return, and I highly recommend this food truck to anyone. PS if you are worried about how the food will hold up if you live out of town, worry not; we brought our food back to Albany and it was in excellent condition. No issues whatsoever. read more

I've ordered Kento and had it delivered by Munchys twice now. The first time I shared the steak and shrimp plate and an order of the chicken gyoza with my mom. We were both very impressed. Simple food but so fresh and obviously high quality ingredients. Their Yum sauce tates like it's sweet chili sauce mixed with mayo? The gyoza were VERY delicious and the sauce they come with was awesome. The second time I ordered the veggie plate, i didn't realize it comes with tofu. I'd never had tofu I particularly enjoyed. Customer accessible sauces and condiments to add would be nice (think soy sauce, Sriracha, salsa-type,salt,etc). Good sized portions of both meats and sides. Prices are toward the high edge of reasonable. Also, they have a covered outdoor seating area, which would be good for hot or rainy days. Not today though, as temperatures are in the 30's.
