I really enjoyed my meal here! It's cozy, and very welcoming. The portion is big and the croquette was delicious too! I ate it so fast that I forgot to take a photo of it. Service is super good and extremely fast

Finally tried out Oretachi Curry, which specializes in Osaka style Japanese curry. They have a second location in Richmond. This branch is a few doors down from Nui. Most dishes are $16.50 to $22.00. You can upgrade to medium ($2.50) or large ($6.50). Portions lean towards the small side. Make sure to try their fukujinzuke (pickles). - Beef slice curry ($17.00) - beef was tender and flavourful. Curry itself was well balanced. More rice would be nice at this price point - Beef curry udon ($17.00 small) - broth had good depth. Same beef slices as the ones in the curry rice - Chicken cutlet ebi miso curry ramen ($21.00)

Hands down my FAVORITE food spot in Vancouver. I could not speak more highly of this restaurant. You do have to fill out a waitlist board if it's busy, but you usually get a seat quickly! The location is small, but I don't mind how cozy it feels. Service is great, people are kind, location is right next to the park... food is DELICIOUS - what more could you ask for? I highly recommend the chicken ramen curry - chicken is tender, broth is flavorful, all the ingredients tie together perfectly. If you're feeling rice, the chicken rice curry is amazing as well. For dessert my partner and I got the matcha cake - it was light, flavorful, just the right amount of dessert after a meal. You can tell all their food is made with love. Will not stop recommending this place to people if they're nearby!

Really good curry place. Flavour is really good, just right, not too light and not too strong. Hint: they let you upgrade the size but medium is enough. Hint2: add the pickles. I had chicken cutlet curry. Chicken is great - tender yet crispy. The curry is really great esp flavour. I added eggplant and LOVED the eggplant. Really really good. My wife got the eel ramen which was great too. Would definitely come back for this curry.

We tried the Oretachi curry in Steveston in the past. Now we have tried the one on Main Street. We were lucky dining in for dinner without lining up. We ordered the curry tonkatsu with rice and onsen egg. We enjoyed the food. If mwe go back to the restaurant, we will definitely try other dishes. The customer service was good. Servers were polite. They were Japanese. The ambience was same as the one in Steveston.

There's something so special about perfectly cooked Japanese rice that takes curry to the next level. This was exactly what happened on my plate of spinach curry from Oretachi Curry! Loved how rich and flavorful the curry was without being too heavy on the palate!

Tasty Japanese curry place on Main near 33rd. Parking is available but limited on Main as well as the side streets. Inside looks pretty traditional themed, with the wooden panelling and trim. Staff are friendly. Tried their curry chicken cutlet and curry pork cutlets on rice. Nice and fluffy, and their signature curry is pretty tasty. The one complaint is that the rice dishes are listed as different sizes with corresponding amounts of what looks like a bowl of rice and a bowl of sauce(?). Buddy and I assumed that the "larger" sizes also meant more protein. Good thing we checked. Nope. The extra price just went towards rice and sauce, with the same sized cutlet. Why anybody would pay that much extra for curry sauce and rice is completely beyond me. So that's what they meant by "Toppings portion are the same for all sizes". Talk about disappointment. Knock 1 star off for lack of value. Buddy and I left hungry. Might be worth trying once, but for that price I'd rather go get pho or ramen.

Walked passed this place with a friend and heard so much about this place, so had to give it a try. Opened in September 2024 Oretchi Curry specializes in Japanese Curry Rice dishes along with an assortment of Japanese Curry Ramen. Place is cutely decorated in your typical Japanese mom and pop eatery you would see all over Japan. Me and my friend decided to order their small (200g rice + 180ml sauce) Regular Chicken Cutlet Curry Rice $16.50 and Hot Pork Cutlet Curry Rice $16.50. You can upgrade to a medium size (300g rice + 270ml sauce) for an extra $2.50 or large size (400g rice + 360 ml sauce) for $6.50 extra. *Pro tip, the medium and large upgrade does not increase the portion of your protein toppings.* The portions were quite small, the Cutlet Chicken and Pork Cutlet were pretty average as I've had better. Sauces were quite tasty and the order of hot offered just a little kick. It is of my opinion, to stay with the small order size as the upgrade fees does not translate to a good value addition of what you are getting. At the time of this review they only accept credit cards. Plenty of free parking along side streets of the restaurant.

Oretachi Curry is originally from Osaka, and apparently the curry here uses the same recipe. The restaurant is styled like a traditional Japanese shop and the service also meets the high standards of hospitality that you expect of Japanese restaurants. The menu is very helpful with pictures of all the curry toppings and icons to indicate meat, seafood, and vegetarian options. You can add toppings to the base curry to your liking, and in most cases it doesn't matter which one you choose as your base for the pricing. I ordered curry with natto and okra. I loved the natto and okra together and how the natto made the curry sauce almost creamy when mixed together. The curry itself was very tasty. I ordered regular spice level and at first thought it wasn't hot at all, but by the time I was finishing I noticed some heat had built up. If I wanted it spicy, I would try the hot, but I was happy with regular heat for just a hint of spice to give some edge to the flavour. Don't forget to add pickles from the condiment tray! The condiment tray also had curry powder and a brown sauce (maybe tonkatsu sauce), but I didn't feel like I needed to use either. I see that lots of other reviews mention small portions, but I thought there was plenty of both natto and okra on my plate, and the hefty amount of natto made the dish pretty filling even though I got the small size. I thought the $16.5 price was appropriate. I tried the sweet potato cake for dessert. I wasn't sure what to expect for dessert since I've been to some Japanese restaurants that have good food but then pull out those frozen convenience store cakes for dessert. I think this cake was previously frozen because they told me it would be 5 minutes and when it came out it was very cold (but not frozen), but it was definitely not a convenience store cake! It was pretty good! There was a cake layer and a pudding layer, and whipped cream around the edge, all dusted with cocoa powder which reminded me of tiramisu. The cake was light and a little earthy, not too sweet. From the food to the friendly service and atmosphere, I had an enjoyable experience here and would be happy to return.

Natto curry rice with spinach added (vegetarian/vegan) - medium size

Nice, casual, little Japanese curry restaurant with plenty of vegetarian (indeed, vegan) options. I showed up around 6:30pm on a Friday and was seated at the bar. All dishes are $13.50 for a small size, plus $2.50 for a medium or plus $6.50 for a large. You can also order additional toppings for a few dollars more. I got the natto curry (medium; $16) and added spinach ($3), selecting the hot option for spiciness. The food came out in under 10 minutes. You get a big portion of rice and curry, though not that much in the way of natto or spinach. Very tasty, moderately spicy curry with great depth. At the table, there's pickled cabbage and curry powder you can add to your dish, which is a nice touch. Super friendly service and a comfortable, no frills environment. Good food, decent value. Recommended.

Stepping into Oretachi Curry felt like stepping into a culinary time machine! The aroma alone teleported me back to my old favorite spot in LA--except this place has BETTER service and zero hipster waitstaff asking if I want oat milk in my curry. The curry? An emotional experience. Rich, savory, with just enough spice to remind me I still have taste buds. The katsu was so crispy it sounded like a symphony every time I took a bite. Honestly, if I had one last meal on earth, I'd request this curry and eat it while serenading the plate. The service was stellar too! The staff treated me like I just won the lottery and came to celebrate here. Quick, friendly, and they didn't even judge me when I licked the plate (don't pretend you wouldn't). Oretachi Curry, you've won my heart and my stomach. I'll be back soon--maybe too soon for my cardiologist's liking. Five stars and a standing ovation!

My partner and I decided to try this place since we were craving katsu curry and heard from friends that it's really good. The location is a bit out of the way and was quite a walk. Inside, the restaurant is very cute and small like any other ramen place. I liked that the menu had pictures. For myself, I ordered the small chicken katsu curry (regular spice) and my partner got the medium pork katsu curry (also reg. spice). Our meals came quickly, and we were so excited to eat since it had tons of curry sauce. I added some tonkatsu sauce on my chicken and my partner loaded his plate up with the pickles. The curry sauce itself was so creamy and rich, and the spice was a nice warm kick, nothing too intense! I loved how the sauce coated the rice nicely and the katsu stayed crispy throughout the entire meal. The flavours were spot on and katsu was juicy and crispy. I definitely think this is now my favourite place for katsu curry, I will return whenever I get my cravings!

Our wait staff were friendly and on point. They were considerate about answering our questions about the food and food allergies. I ordered the chicken thigh katsu ($26 Can) and my hubs got the chicken thigh curry ($28.50 Can). No dairy involved in either dish which I was happy about because I have challenges digesting milk protein. Yes, it's kinda pricey. Yes, it's totally worth it. My friend and I started off by sharing the spicy garlic fries with tartar sauce. I love the way these fries are thinly cut, with the right amount of crisp and lightness to them. I had the 3 piece chicken Teishoku - which comes with miso soup, rice, a side (today was seaweed salad), and choice of salad (I chose the Mogu salad). I was disappointed that now each additional chicken sauce cost $0.75 extra, as it used to be unlimited. Understandable though! I got the Japanese mayo, and my friend got the spicy gochujang sesame. We shared and mixed these sauces to dip the chicken. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside, and tender and moist on the inside. It is a must to order here. I liked the miso soup, but found it slightly too salty. The Mogu salad was hearty! Lots of kale and tasty dressing. I ended up having leftovers for my lunch tomorrow - I'm very excited! If you order 3 onigiris you can get a free Veggie Miso Soup. We ordered 6 Onigiris altogether so we got 2 free Veggie Miso Soups at our table. My husband ordered a bowl of Ramen noodles and shared it with our daughter. He ate most of the ramen along with one Onigiri; she had two Onigiris and a small bowl of his ramen noodles. They shared one of the free Veggie Miso Soups. I had 3 Onigiris and one bowl of Veggie Miso Soup. The Onigiris we ordered: Tuna Takowasa Teriyaki Chicken x Avocado Tuna Mayo x Avocado Nasu Peperoncino Seared Cheese x Shiso with Tuna Mayo Filling Seared Cheese x Shiso with Unagi Filling Heard the Teriyaki Chicken Onigiri was "meh". My daughter and husband both said there was something in it that tasted kinda weird. I thought my Nasu Peperoncino Onigiri was also kinda "meh." It had an eggplant filling in it. I liked the idea of the eggplant filling. Something about the sauce they used to flavor it though...perhaps the sauce is wasn't didn't go over so well with me. I think the Nasu Peperoncino could do with a bit of tweaking. It's got some potential though and is one of the only Vegetarian Onigiri options on the menu. The free Veggie Miso soup was actually quite impressive. It was packed with a lot more ingredients than I expected. I was just expecting a regular miso soup with may some tiny bits of tofu and a few pieces of seaweed floating around in the the bowl. Instead I found some pretty sizeable chunks of daikon and mushroom in my bowl, along with quite a few strips of carrot as well. I really enjoyed the soup and will probably make sure not to order anything less than 3 onigiri whenever next I come to this place so that I can make sure to have the free bowl of Veggie Miso Soup again! Hubby raved about the Tuna Takowasa Onigiri. I took a bite of it and was pretty impressed with it as well. Loved my Tuna Mayo x Avocado Onigiri. A bit more Avocado might have been nice but there was plenty of Tuna Mayo in it. Both of the Seared Cheese Onigiris were yummy. More Unagi filling would have been an improvement for mine, but I do understand that these kinds of ingredients can be costly for restaurants. Not the first time I've seen a restaurant skimp on the filling for an Onigiri. Love that you can dine in and eat these Onigiris warm instead of cold from a refrigerator. The Ramen according to my husband was "meh". Kind of a shame as I recall that years ago, when this shop first started out in the West End and was called Marutama, their Ramen was awesome. Seems like the quality of their Ramen has gone downhill over the years as not that long ago we were at the Metrotown location of Maruhachi and the Ramen noodles there were also kinda "meh". This place is kind of hit and miss. Kinda wish I could give it a higher overall rating. There are some really good Onigiri here though, so I would definitely come back for the Onigiri.
