3 stars on take out items ( getting order correct & preparation ) & 5 stars for checkout. They forgot to give us steamed rice with our entree. Our veggie fried rice filled in for the missing starch. Had the egg roll, dry wok spicy beef, veggie fried dumplings & stirfried green beans. Egg roll, dripping grease. The Fried dumplings, like something out of a Sini-Soviet Gulag's kitchen. The Dumpling skins almost a quarter of an inch thick with an anonymous filling. One bite of the half cooked dumplings exiled them to the trash forever more. Dry wok spicy beef could have been a home run as the flavors & heat were just right but the way the beef was presented required that a knife & fork be utilized to cut the meat into pieces that could be chewed & swallowed without risk of choking & more points were lost when chef poured all the grease from the wok into the take out container leaving us confused & sad since we were looking for a true dry stir fry & not a goopy mess. It was mighty tasty though. The green beans were excellent. read more

This is the only Chinese restaurant I'll eat at in Harrisonburg. As a Chinese person, I appreciate the majority of this restaurant's authentic menu, but over the years I've found that there are certain dishes that are lacking in quality, while others excel in quality. So, it seems like sticking with the good dishes are what I will be doing rather than trying some other dishes. I had high hopes for the appetizer baby ribs because my family in China makes them really well, but these just seemed like barbecue ribs I could get from a a barbecue restaurant, and were not baby size. I also had high hopes for the shredded potato and chili dish, but it was lacking in flavor. Lastly, the Dan Dan noodles were just ok, but barely had any spice. If you want things spicier I would suggest calling and requesting more spice. Some dishes I would highly suggest include the Ma Po Tofu, Dry Pepper Chicken, Sichuan Style Dry Fried String Beans, and Pan-Fried Noodles. I would say that they are good in comparison to other Chinese restaurants in the area. read more

sushi was delicious however their fried rice was not the best. from MY experience, the rice was just a tad too oily and couldn't really taste any seasoning; no salt no nothing. the service was phenomenal. the place is pretty quiet and calm. i suggest you try their sushi rather than the fried rice! read more

I wouldn't consider it an amazing place to get your fix but it's definitely worth a try. The menu is quiet large and has options for every taste pallet. Two years ago this place really good, but now I came back and I was very disappointed. First of the service was not good, we felt like we were bothering them. I ordered my food and the asked to specify again later. My dish did come quickly but as I ate it they came up and snatched it right under my nose saying that it was the wrong one, I was confused but it's fine they brought me the right one and as soon as I started eating it, they came again, changing dishes literally as I was chewing. I was craving some sushi after my exam. Fortunately, I made it in time for their happy hour that's from 3-5pm. I'm willing to bet that this restaurant is family owned because I walked in to a huge Chinese family and they were going in and out of the kitchen. As long as they can give me good service, I don't mind this. I heard good things about the 3 amigos and 007 roll and ordered those two. The 3 amigos roll was not bad but it was really sweet. Sweet as in refined sugar that's been sprayed on top? The 007 roll was pretty good on the other hand. I wouldn't pay regular full price for these rolls. Staff are friendly, my father in law is a regular. they have a very large menu which is great, ranging from American-Chinese food to sushi and traditional chinese food. we got vietnamese summer rolls for appetizer, very disappointing, it was 90% lettuce. would not order those again here. My Pearl's of the ocean or whatever it was called, looked exactly how it should look, but it tasted extremely bland and watery. The vegetables were all undercooked. very disappointed. General Tsao chicken... chicken was nice and moist... but the sauce was lacking flavour, tasted more like a watered down sweet and sour. wouldn't order it again. the cashew chicken was very tasty! tasted almost like teriyaki. Over 15 years in the industry has taught me some basics about service and this was an absolutely piss poor example! If you're open until 9:30 you serve until 9:30!!! It is owned by a wonderful family who is always supportive of our community. The rolls on the platter are spider roll, spicy tuna, 007, da bomb, and California. My go-to Chinese restaurant in Harrisonburg. It serves both American-style Chinese food and traditional Chinese food. Both of which are of top-notch quality. Service is solid, at least in comparison to any other Chinese restaurant you'll go to. The menu is extensive, so they have almost everything you could want as well. I noticed they had a long list of sushi on the menu, but personally, I don't know how to feel about ordering sushi from here. Most recently, I had a take-out order of the crispy hot beef, dry pepper chicken, and stir fried bok choy. Each dish came with a serving of rice. I ordered through Yelp+GrubHub and it was super quick in getting prepared. Each dish was fantastic and left me satisfied. Ordered dinner from here since I was craving Chinese and it looked surprisingly good. I got the pan fried chicken gyozas, pad Thai with chicken, and fried rice. Everything was delicious. The gyozas were crispy with a flavorful filling, the fried rice had a great taste with lots of fillings such as eggs and vegetables, and the pad Thai was delicious with a nice crunch from the peanuts. The pricing was pretty cheap and the delivery was extremely quick. I would definitely order from here if you want some late night Chinese. read more

This is a fantastic restaurant. This is more on the authentic side and not the traditional American sugar sauce and breaded everything side. We liked the sushi, my mom had the shredded chicken which had a delicious sweet sauce. My daughter had a thin noodle dish that was delicious and fresh-tasting. I had a meal with chicken, beef and shrimp from the chef's specials and it was excellent. It was called the scholars Trio and had a sweet red pepper updated Kung Pao sauce. See picture. 3 stars solely for being in Harrisonburg, VA. It is one of the few Asian restaurants in this area. If this was located in NoVA it would get 2 stars. Being one of the limited Asian restaurants in Harrisonburg my gf's father (a major Chinese food fanatic) opted to eat at this place while we were there visiting my gf's brother. We started off with fried calamari and chicken lettuce wraps. The calamari did not look like your standard calamari. e.g. round fried rings. This was more of an elongated shape, the shape is not important but the quality of the squid was low. It was extremely chewy and difficult to swallow. In my opinion the chicken lettuce wraps were decent as they were not too salty. For main entrees we went with the combination dry pot (beef, pork and seafood), fried rice, chow fun, salt and pepper shrimp and the double cooked pork. The dry pot was extremely salty and was hard to eat. The rest of the food was just meh.. I definitely had better Chinese food elsewhere. But as I mentioned above for this area this is probably good enough. Their service was good but that's probably solely due to the reason the owners recognized my gf's parents. Honestly if you are truly craving Chinese food in Harrisonburg this place is probably your only choice. I didn't see many other Asian establishments besides a Japanese restaurant across the street. read more

What an underrated find! Food was clean, fresh, fast and service prompt and friendly. What brought us here didn't disappoint, this is legit Chinese food; we got the hot wok , some Vietnamese style noodles and some mixed veg; and wanted to get so many other dishes as we haven't had Asian foos like this since we left Canada! The hot wok was SO good, spicy but not overwhelming. We are not sure why it's not better rated other than maybe the authentic nature of their menu may not be to everyone's taste. Great, authentic Chinese food in Harrisonburg! My parents always want to come here to eat whenever they visit me at JMU because this place has some of the best Chinese food they've ever had, and they live in Northern Virginia. They're even forcing my sister to go to JMU for school when I graduate just so they would have a reason to drive to Harrisonburg to eat here lol. There is a main menu and the "Chinese" menu with the more authentic Chinese dishes. Definitely ask for the Chinese menu and order off from there. Everything comes out super fast and entrees can literally be split into two or more meals because the portions are huge. My personal favorite dish is the pepper pork + dried tofu, so good! The sushi isn't bad either, definitely would recommend the 007 roll. Service was always good! read more

Overall, fantastic Chinese cuisine. If you go here, ask for the authentic Chinese food menu. It doesn't come with the regular menu, and you'll be missing out without it. Current favorites are (1) fish filet w/ chili miso, (2) creamy sesame jumbo shrimp, and (3) eggplant w/ garlic sauce (lunch menu). If you're a health nut, I'd recommend the chicken delight with the sauce on the side. For such a large menu, it's impressive that they can prepare so many different Chinese dishes so well. This place has a lot to offer, and doesn't have to be just another American-Chinese restaurant if your willing to look past General Tso's chicken or sesame beef. I'm sure glad I did. read more

This place was very busy so I decided to give it a try the food was decent but not great. The one thing that bothered me was that I added an order of spareribs to my order and she asked me for $11. I looked at the take-out menu and it said 7.95 but then I noticed that there was a sign on the window that said that those were not accurate pricing and to add one dollar to every dish on that menu, ok 8.95. My daughter and I love this place and visit each time we are in Harrisonburg. I think we have eaten here 10x by now. There is a wide range of Asian dishes that include Chinese, Thai, Japanese, and more. We try something new each time. I am particularly fond of the Masago and Hamachi sushi and the hot tea. Horrible service, I would give it a 0 Star but the food was okay not the tastiest and the tea was awful, tasted like dish water. SANDY was very rude and didn't even ask us if we were okay or ask us if we needed water topped off. She sat on her butt eating rice with some man and continued her conversation instead of helping her customers. They rushed us out the door and took our food plates from us while we were still eating all because they were closing but didn't let us know that they were closing. The good? Seemed like the food was delivered before I'd finished hanging up the phone. No really, it came to my door in less than 20 minutes. The bad? General Tso's chicken is supposed to have sauce. It was clearly cooked in some, but almost no sauce made it to my door; just dry chunks of deep-fried chicken. Which don't taste like much.
