Please pass right by this establishment when you think of being hungry for Chinese food. It's awful now. The Lo Mein tastes like day old, over cooked noodles from somebody's house. The recipes have changed since the new Management has taken over and it really isn't worth it, especially since they've raised the prices. Please don't spend your money here. While ordering to go, I asked three times for the COMBO General Chicken to be spicy. Three request! When I picked it up, I asked if it were made spicy and she said "it already comes spicy" so I knew what that meant. Not spicy! Plus, the chicken was dry. Why so many bad reviews? This Chinese food was sooooo tasty!! We got take out, two of the family meals for 4 and it was plenty!!! We even had enough for everyone to eat lunch the next day!! The man on the phone was very patient and we will def be making this our new Chinese spot as we are new in town and grateful it's only 5 minutes away. If I could give zero stars I would. I really don't understand how this place has a higher rating than a one star. I was very excited to try the Sunday special because it came with a soup and an egg roll. & I thought it was such a great deal. The hot and sour soup smelled like cow poop, I am not kidding I wish it was a joke I was very grossed out and the chowmein was gross I couldn't eat it. The egg roll was the only okay thing about the entire special. I am very disappointed and would suggest to go eat somewhere else. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Kingwood!!! We have been ordering from here for nearly 20 years and never been disappointed once. The food is well prepared and the portions are large. The house fried rice is great as are ALL the dishes I have ever tried and the crab puffs are amazing. This restaurant has been in business for over 20 years at the same location. With all the restaurants that come and go over the years the fact that this one has served Kingwood residents quality chinese cuisine for that long should speak for volumes for the quality of food and service performed by this establishment. read more

Our favorite Chinese restaurant in the whole area. Particularly love the General Chicken, wow great and large pieces of tender white meat in that zesty brown sauce. Friends tell us that their special salmon dish is the very best they have ever had, but should call ahead to make sure they have the salmon, sometimes they are out. Portions are large; many times we share and add an extra soup. They have lunch specials every week day. They have a second room that we use with large groups which normally provides some privacy unless they are very busy. Jim is the greatest server and very friendly. read more

This experience was horrid. I came down to visit family here and I wanted some Chinese, we called in and got decent delivery time but that's where it went down hill. We started to eat and noticed a hair, we have pets so typically we thought it was from then. But come to look further the food ( rice and soup) was pretty full of hair. We found multiples, we knew it couldn't be us when we found hair cooked into the rice and egg. The person working the phone when we called back was nothing but rude and accusing. She refused to let us speak with a manager or anyone higher up. When asked for the owners or managers number or to have them call us , she profusely refused. 10/10 would recommend to never spend money here. read more

I'll be skipping the Chinese food around here for now on. The food was cold and stale, even the white rice. The fried pork hurt my stomach and was 90% fried breading. The pork and breading taste frozen prior to being cooked. I showed up when Yelp told me to and my order hadn't even been started. I would get a refund if I could. Disappointing!!! I have been eating at Oriental Garden for over 25 years. The food was always excellent. Just recently the restaurant was sold. The first time we ate there after it was sold, we noticed our favorites did not taste the same. The food was not as good as we were use to. We chalked it up to their getting use to things in the kitchen. We ate their last night and were extremely disappointed. The food does not taste the same as it use to. Came in here for the first time today; not pleased. My brother and I are very simple men, we are powerlifters and practically eat anything, but this food was unappetizing and slimy. The place feels too done up at a very cheap rate. It just feels like they tried to fix it up very nicely with a really low budget. The waiter was nice, but really awkward. Not to mention the fact that we were the only people dining there. You think the food would be better. I am currently driving, and as we speak I've never felt a stranger mix of pity and indigestion. Maybe I'm just used to westernized Chinese food or maybe it's the oil oozing from my pores, but that was the slimiest oilest modt unappetizing food I have ever had the displeasure of clashing with. It feels like they are trying to hard to sell you on presentation and not the food itself. In spite of all this the people were very nice, the food wasn't very good, and the ambience was weird. I am shocked at the great reviews this place has received--maybe the reviewers haven't eaten good Chinese food? I got one of the lunch specials. It came with soup (three choices), an egg roll, fried rice and the entree. The soup was good--I got the Won Ton Soup. When the meal came, the "fried" rice was white rice that they probably threw some soy sauce on to turn it brown. It was NOT fried rice! The egg roll was a huge mass of fried won ton wrapper(s) with something that resembled shredded cabbage inside. It was all white inside, and I really couldn't determine if it was rice or cabbage, but decided it was probably cabbage because I had never heard of an egg roll having white rice inside. So, I didn't eat the "fried" rice or the egg roll. I got a shrimp dish which I ate a little of. It was extremely salty (no soy sauce needed). No need to go back....there are better Chinese restaurants in Kingwood. read more

Was looking for a unique place to visit on Christmas Eve for lunch & this was the perfect spot! It's a family owned, small business with great service & delicious food. Definitely recommend the lunch specials to get the biggest bang for your buck. It's a quiet little place that feels like the perfect balance of 'fancy' & 'casual.' I've eaten at many small businesses like this one before, and at first I was surprised by how much food we got from the lunch special, however I was disappointed. I ordered the Kung Pow Chicken, hot. It wasn't spicy at all and the entire dish was mainly vegetables and cashews. I was shocked by how little meat they put in the dish. It's a rip off. My family loves this restaurant. My husband is a chef (used to be the sous chef at Raffa's) so he's super picky. His favorite dish is the hot and sour soup and sesame chicken. I love the dumplings and lo mein. We've tried just about everything and it's always fresh and tastes great. I've seen some reviews that say the food is tasteless and oily. I have NEVER had that be the case. My parents came in from Houston to eat with us a couple times. They loved it. They still talk about the egg rolls. Speaking of egg rolls...they are perfect. Large and super tasty. We now live in Conroe but still make the drive every now and then because it really is that good. The only thing that I've tried that I wouldn't order again is the special soup but that's just because of my personal preference. I felt it had too many vegetables. Staff were courteous and accommodating to my dietary restrictions. The food, from appetizers down to the sauces was incredible. Just finished my first visit. Went for a lunch special an hour after they opened. Place was about half full when I arrived & three quarters so when I left. I was seated right away, given a menu, water and asked if I wanted anything to drink. Waitress came quickly, took my order & then brought the soup included with lunch. I had Hot & Sour which was very tasty. My food arrived while I was still only halfway through my soup so they weren't slow at all. My Shrimp with garlic sauce was also very tasty. Great place to set and relax with great food. Service is great and we travel from Atascocita because we can't get the quality close by.

The service is very slow. The egg drop soup was delicious. The egg rolls had a very strong fish flavor. Based on my limited knowledge of why it tasted that way, I assume it's because they don't change the grease vats frequently... We had to ask for our food to go because we had to pick our kids from gymnastics class. We got each dish for $10 because of the early bird special. However, I'd be willing to pay more for fresh food and quality ingredients. This is not the place for that. read more

The restaurant is very nicely decorated and the atmosphere was relaxing unlike other places during lunch that are noisy and everyone running around. I ordered the lemon chicken and it was pretty good just a bit over cooked. Their steamed rice looked like fried rice but it was still good. Had left town for a few years and got takeout with family from here while visiting. Since this place is right up street I wanted it to be good but was very unimpressed. The sesame chicken was OK and had white meat (pretty dry) and the ingredients were fine but it just seemed overly oily with a very dry inside to the chicken. The sweet and sour pork was awful. The pork was rough and dried out in a deep fried casing and there was really no flavor or anything to cook and bind it together. I simply didn't even eat this. The crab wontons may have had a crab escape them.... Because they were most definitely just cheese wontons. I don't expect a megaton of crab in these but am pretty confident they literally contained zero crabmeat. I guess the soup and eggrolls were decent though, but won't be returning. read more
