This is my second time here. I love this place. It has a relaxed vibe, fun decor and friendly atmosphere. So far, both servers I've had have been great. Very attentive. If you want a real treat start off with the coffee and a warm cinnamon roll. Fantastic! (you may have to exercise a little extra to burn it off but Well worth it!) They offer a nicely rounded menu including dietary options. One warning if you're enjoying a pre breakfast treat; cinnamon roll, homemade pop tart, muffins, etc, is that they bring out your food rather quickly. Arrived early-ish on Sunday (before 9am) and there was already a small wait so you know this is the spot. The gentleman host offered that we could be texted when our name was up to allow us to wait in the car - it was a cooler morning. While in Phoenix, I ate at three different breakfast restaurants. Original Breakfast House was my favorite. I ordered the hog heaven with a biscuit. The omelette was cooked as ordered, soft, and had plenty of bacon, ham and sausage. Would have preferred the biscuit to be cooked less. I arrived at the restaurant around 920 am on a Saturday, and it had a waiting list. Instead of waiting 20 to 30 minutes, I sat at the counter. An older gentleman sat next to me, and ordered a hot chocolate. It looked enticing, but I refrained inasmuch as I had already ordered. The server provided a pitcher of water, allowing you to pour ice cold water as you needed it. The restaurant is cash only, and does a terrific business. Come early and beat the crowd! After coming here twice I've realized this place just isn't for me. I tried their pancakes on a previous visit (I think they had berries and chocolate on them) and they tasted like lemon. This time I tried bacon, eggs, home fries and a biscuit. The bacon was perfect- extra crispy just like I asked for. That's where the good ended. The home fries were so spicy I couldn't eat them and the biscuit was overcooked so that the top and bottom were hard and chewy. We tried a cinnamon roll also and the inside part was ok but the outside was hard and not enjoyable. This place takes cash only which is odd in this day and age. My husband and I love breakfast dates but we hadn't been on one in so so long! Original breakfast house isn't far from where we live but we hadn't been before! We were worried it might be crazy on a Saturday morning but we got there about 8 am and it wasn't bad. We were seated right away and the service was super fast. We were out of there by 8:30! I got the vegetable hash and I can't have eggs so I sad no eggs and our server recommended I do avocado instead which was a good choice! I got pancakes as my side. My husband ordered cranberry juice, they brought him apple instead but he didn't mind. He got eggs bacon and hash browns and upgraded his side to French toast. He always asks for bacon extra crispy but places often don't follow through, he was pleased that his bacon was prepared extra crispy! I tried a bite of the French toast. So so good. My husband loved it too, sweet with a perfect crispy sugary outer layer. We got the real maple syrup too! The pastries looked delicious but we didn't get any. Went here on 10/07/23. Food was delicious. I wish the chilaquiles had more sauce on them. Meat was good and flavorful. The strawberry waffle was delicious. We missed the breakfast rush thankfully. The waitress was great and I love that they have someone filling up the coffee mugs. Don't forget they only take cash. The menu is big and intimidating but here's the tip, ask your server what they like and what's popular. I ended up with the green Chile pork Benedict and some French toast. I found the Original Breakfast House on Yelp and based on the reviews and what people had to say and what I saw I had to give it a try.'70s vibe of a surf shop you might find nestled on the coast in Hawaii maybe even Venice Beach California. A great feel as you walk in very warm and welcoming. Make sure you get some cash from the ATM as you are walking in as this is a cash only place. The menu is original and unique. A host of various omelets ,pancakes, waffles, breakfast burritos and sandwiches all the way down to lunch offerings. I decided to go with the Crispy Carnitas omelette with avocado topped with their red chili sauce and queso fresco. Crispy home fries on the side went with the key lime pancakes as a sidecar. If you're a pancake fan you're going to want to check this place out as the pancakes range from key lime pancakes ,Hawaiian pancakes, cinnamon roll pancakes ,and the gluten-free granola banana pancakes. An iced coffee from the good folks at the Cortez Coffee Roastery which was smooth ,delicious and refreshing. The crispy carnitas omelette was very tasty perfectly made fluffy, dense and flavorful the red sauce was a nice touch next time I'd get it on the side as smothered was a bit much. Just the right amount of avocado... not too much to overtake the taste but just add to it in the right way. The home fries were delicious, nice flavor... but not too crispy. I find that it goes either way either not fried enough or not too much. The pancakes were delicious good size but a bit sweet for my taste, my son would absolutely flip out for them! The key lime flavor was authentic and just right..it really worked. Excellent service and the owner walking around making sure everyone had a great time and enjoyed their meal. Upcharging for a meal that nothing would change is bullshit. They lost a customer. I can go to Dennys and order off the kids menu with "NO" problems.
