I have fond memories of this place as my husband and I had our first date here a few years ago. The Cajun chicken nachos were delicious. Cajun is not a flavor that I particularly care for, but this chicken was tender with a mild flavor with a barely there tinge of sweetness that was yumz. Fish tacos were just ok. Fries were soggy and fried in what appears to be a very dark and old oil. A friend ordered the gyoza which looked quite delectable. Quality of the drinks was poor. Caesar was absurdly salty, but I made it work by taking intermittent sips of water while topping up the sips taken with even more water lol. Tito mule had a very generous ratio of vodka. I think this restaurant is more of a 3.5 if anything but all satisfactory stuff. The interior was clean with a mix of booths and tables. We went one evening and it was relatively dead inside and for such a big place I hope it isn't always like that. We ordered the nachos and chicken lettuce wraps. The nachos are mediocre and nothing to scream home about. The chicken lettuce wraps were well flavoured. I think I would have preferred lettuce head wraps instead of romaine lettuce just given the ease of the shape haha. We had a giftcard so it didn't feel like a wasted meal or anything it just, again, wasn't something I would rush out to go to. The service was nice enough and it would likely be a good place for a little gathering in my opinion! The menu is big enough so everyone can sort of order something they want. They also had these party nachos, which I assume is great for sharing! the meal plus two drinks and tax came to $49. My friend and I came here for lunch for the first time and had a good experience! We were here for lunch. I had the lasagne which was prepared in an interesting, non-traditional way served in a ceramic dish. A bit overdone but still tasty. Had a side salad first that was good. My friend had the fish and chips which was a huge portion and she enjoyed it. Nothing memorable, nothing to complain about. Our only complaint is we had to flag down the waitress for refills and also had to request silverware. They weren't busy. The restroom was clean. read more

We ordered (accidentally) the vegetarian nachos. If you don't get a protein I expect the avocado dip to be included. This isn't the case and 3.00 seems very steep for a small avocado dip. I thought I have never had a bad poutine so that was my safe bet. Did you know French fries can be darker than gravy? They can when they are either old and re cooked or overcooked completely. The flavour was something in between. Next time I'll save the 8.00 difference and go to A&W. I will say the one good thing from the experience was that the food was ready to go and we were promptly helped. We were the regulars in south Surrey and always enjoyed our OJ meals and experience. Today we stopped in for lunch and after reviewing the menu my friend and I couldn't justify paying the list prices for the offered menu. We ordered a couple beers and wings we received 9 wings for $15 and they were the worst overcooked wings coated in a delicious sauce, but the burnt wings lingered for hours...in fact I still taste the wings...needed a couple more beers and with tip our bill was $60. Server was amazing and we let her know about the wings, but not her fault. I hope she let the kitchen and management know. Can't say I'll go back any time soon. read more

Regular, casual restaurant. Nothing to wow us other than the service. We were well looked after. The firey, tempura, deep fried shrimp, was very tasty but the mains were not impressive. Came here for lunch on a Saturday in between shopping, it had a lot of groups but wasn't super busy or noisy. We weren't sure if it was okay to bring our daughter as they had a prominent bar (I remembered being told we couldn't bring her at a different location & were treated rudely) but they kindly explained this was only during the evenings, which made sense. Had their brunch menu & their breakfast tacos were really good! They came with Valentina hot sauce, which was pretty mild for my tastes - but putting more was good enough for me. Better than it being too hot for me to enjoy it! As with most large mid-range priced restaurant chains, the food was consistent - the highlight was definitely the friendly and attentive service. Our server was really friendly. The food was really tasty. Reasonably priced and big portions. Their calamari is really good too! We have ordered the Jambalaya and it was really good. Our server was really funny and very animated lol.. We also had LOTS of leftovers and we brought it home. Well worth the price. When you order their burger, it also comes with two sides of your choice. If you're choosing the home-cut fries, go for the dill dip instead of the gravy. Their dill dip and fries are the bomb! Really had a good time here. Will definitely come back here again. I must say that I have been to this restaurant a number of times and normally had decent service and food. Most of my experiences there were quite positive so when I invited my wife and youngest child to lunch, I expected much better than what we received. The service was lack-luster at best with food taking much longer than I have experienced previously and quality decidedly lacking. I was annoyed when the server informed me that they were not serving salads at all because of the Romaine lettuce scare currently happing in the country. Imagine my surprise when I saw the next table over receive chicken lettuce wraps as a starter. I understand that there was a concern with one kind of lettuce, but is it not possible to offer a salad using iceberg lettuce or spinach or...? Instead I was forced to change my order to a steak sandwich and because of dietary restrictions, I couldn't choose from most of the side dishes offered. Both my wife and I asked if the soup of the day could be substituted as the list was decidedly small. The server informed us that we could but never mentioned we would be penalized by having paying more for this service. The food, when it finally arrived, was not hot. My steak was not cooked the way it was requested and was the texture of shoe leather. Worst of all, I left still feeling hungry, unsatisfied and pissed off that I had to pay so much for an extremely poor experience!! He then said he'd be right back for food and took another five minutes. It wasn't busy at all and shouldn't have taken this long. This was our second time here and this time we arrived at 11:15am and were the first customers of the day. I ordered the fish tacos and my husband ordered the chicken strips and fries with dill dip. The size of both entrees were impressive. The chicken strips were not only large but they were crispy without being dry. The fries were AMAZING!!! These fries are the perfect accompaniment to a fish and chips or this chicken. They were uniform in colour (not burnt or undercooked). Not an ounce of grease was to be found on them and the dill dip was the finishing touch. My fish tacos were delish and stuffed!. They also serve a Mexican hot sauce to add to the tacos which I highly recommend doing. The only downside,and the reason for the 3 stars, was I felt the fish itself needed to be warmer. Actually it was room temp which I didn't like and could have used more spice but I guess the hot sauce was there to do that. Our server was great. I don't like leaving negative reviews...but I would have wanted to know. We didn't have wi-fi or would not have stopped here unfortunately! Ordered the beef dip myself w/ fries, the dill dip for the fries & the coleslaw. Hubby ordered some 'steak sandwich special' that's not on the main menu, mashed potatoes & side salad... The server said these were two of her favorites & best things on the menu. Even asked if we had been to the restaurant before & when we said no, said we were 'in for a treat' The food came out & looked good, but nothing seemed to have any flavor; not the dill dip, not the meat, not the coleslaw, not even the horseradish! There was supposed to be horseradish mayo on the beef dip & there was no 'hot'...so assuming there just wasn't very much on the sandwich, I asked for a side of horseradish & asked them not to mix it with mayo so that it was still hot. To my surprise, the horseradish didn't have any flavor! What's the point of a flavor-less horseradish...how do you even get horseradish to be flavorless? If a person likes horseradish, I'm going to go out on a limb & assume they like a little 'hot' to it. If a person doesn't like hot, they probably avoid horseradish...right?!? Well that's enough of that...a paragraph on horseradish, I digress. I wish I'd known, which is why I'm leaving this review. I've been to the South Surrey location many times and it's always been good, so I figured I'd try this new location since it is a little closer to home. The food was as expected, good with decent portion sizes. The service on the other hand left a little to be desired. We decided to go to O.J.'s because we were meeting up with a couple of friends and needed somewhere kid friendly. Tip: if you're going with wee ones and require a high chair...bring your own. Although they have a kids menu, they do not have any high chairs or booster seats. There were a couple of other people with kids that arrived around the same time as us that left because of this. Since we were meeting others at the restaurant, it was just easier for me to leave my wife and daughter there and run home to grab our booster chair. I'm sure it's just an oversight as there are newly opened, but one they may want to fix sooner rather than later as there were a few families that came and left for this reason while we were there. Other than that, the staff while mostly pleasant, although they seemed to be a bit disorganized. Refills were a little tough to get, one waitress tried to take my friends beer before he was done...and when he was brought another it came in a broken glass. (A replacement was brought once it was pointed out to the waitress). All in all it was good and I believe the issues (which were all minor) will be sorted once they've been open a little longer. read more

Had a great Birthday lunch for a friend at Original Joes with a group of 8 or so. The service was fantastic and we were well looked after. Nice craft beer selection. Great service and atmosphere, the food is was good. I ordered the butter chicken and the fiance ordered a wrap. The butter chicken was meh. ...loaded with gummy brown rice and the sauce was more tomatoe and less creamy than I would like. I tried the wrap and that was actually fantastic! Loved the fries with dill dipping sauce and the awesome siracha mayo dipping sauce. My fault for getting butter chicken at a non Indian place I should know better. Next time I will stick to the standard stuff which was awesome. A little disappointed that with such a large group that came in there was no recognition for the birthday in the group. read more

Went here with two friends on January 25th, 2016. I had the beefdip, my roommate had the ribs and our friend enjoyed the jambalaya. I was awoken January 26th around 5am by my roommate throwing up. Upon checking my phone I saw that my other friend had also become ill (to the restaurant's credit he said the jambalaya was still pretty good coming up and gave it an overall 3/10 after adjusting for vomiting). I have spent most of the day with an upset stomach; to my knowledge none of us really ate today. Avoid this place. Edit: After Sherri left her response I reached out to her to discuss my experience at Original Joe's. She was very polite, understanding and sincere. Based on the fact that Fraser Health has cleared the restaurant of any obvious causes of foodborne illness, and our conversation, I believe that my friends and I experienced a very rare event for this, or any, establishment. We were here early as it was a Friday night. Actually, we were very late and the group we were meeting were on time. First thing we noticed was that it wasn't that busy. Last time we were here a few years ago, it was busy and the food was good. We sat down and put in our order. The group waiting for us ordered and were just getting their food. It looked ok. I ordered the fish tacos and my wife got the pacific rim noodle bowl. The tacos were average, but the cost per taco was like $7 ... not the best value. The noodle bowl was pretty big and was a good recommendation- had to steal some from my wife as I wasn't satisfied. The bowl had noodles and lots of veggies and soup. I would not call it better than a bowl of Pho, but ok. Overall, food was ok but expensive. Probably will pass if I was looking for a hearty meal. read more

But when I asked for a high-chair for my daughter, the server replied "oh we don't have high-chairs we don't promote being a family friendly restaurant". I was dumb-founded but didn't complain. Went here last night with some friends. Wanted to order nachoes (at 7:30 pm on a Friday night) and they didn't have chips?! Manager came over and said they are having issues in the kitchen etc.etc. but they use special chips so they can't just go to a store to get more. Then wanted a ceaser salad as a side and they don't have romaine?! So they must use a special type of romaine I guess because they couldn't go to the store for that either. Food was cold when we received it too. One of the employees was smoking right outside the door and the windows were open so the smell and smoke was coming inside. Not cool. Had to ask for more water and half the time the server forgot. She forgot that one of us ordered a decaf coffee too and had to order that again. All in all will stick with the south surrey location. Love the fact that the same meal is just as tasty each time we come; great quality control! While the menu has changed (I don't like change) their sides are great (honey slaw & quinoa salad) as well as the dip and gravy so you can imagine that the meals must be just as tasty. Salmon burger is my go to meal! Cloverdale location is much easier to find parking (than Langley) and the patio is quieter because it doesn't sit right beside the road/traffic. Me and my wife really like Original Joes but after 2-3 bad experiences at the Cloverdale restaurant we won't go back. The food is hit and miss. I really like the lettuce wraps but their flavor depends on who's cooking it. Also there service is Terrible. There was maybe 3 tables in the restaurant who had customers at them and 3 waitresses... took about 15 minutes for someone to come over and take our drink order. I don't know if the manager who was there was on shift or not but she was sitting at the bar having a beer- just didn't look good! They really need help in the service department! read more

Once in a while, you decide to go into a restaurant for no better reason other than you are hungry and there's a decent looking building entrance to what looks like a new joint. We were waited on by Sam on a Sunday around 130pm. The restaurant shouldn't be this quiet but that's what happens when they don't do any promos. This place might remind you of Joey's, a Cactus Club or maybe Brown's Social House, only more approachable. My son had a buffalo chicken wrap and I had their appetizer ribs. I wasn't hungry. What was surprising were the portions and the quickness of their service. I think this might possibly be the first time my son's ice tea was refilled without us badgering anyone for a refill. One-fifth left of the liquid and Sam gently floats by with a new drink in hand. We were passing thru and thought we would give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was overall more healthy than most of these types of establishments. My dinner was a Mediterranean Chicken wrap-fresh and tasty. It came with sides of veggies and dip and brown rice (I had choices). Not bad for $15.50 Canadian.
