Seriously?? When did someone bceing rude to you become a fun experience? That's what I am seeing in the reviews here. My husband and I went here with a coupon from the entertainment book. It's a great way to try a new place. Whwn we walked in the waitress immediately informed us that they would honor the coupon but that they automatically tack on 20 percent of the total bill without the coupon because the owner likes to " take care of his girls". No problem that is what we always tip for a good waitress. WELL we both ordered the lasagna. The order came out two pieces of lasagna covered with sauce that looked like spaghettio sauce. It tasted better than it looked. We were starving so we ate every bite!! BUT the atmosphere was horrible! We walked in at 745 and was told that we could not sit in the back because they had "got done" early so we were "allowed" to sit in the front where the pizza ovens are and also where it is a thousand degrees. The girl that seated us immediately PLOPPED herself down and was sitting behind me sideways in the booth with her legs propped up. Than she moved over to a table and put her feet up on a chair and on the table a baby was crawling around. In a restaurant?? Seriously?? I have never even seen someone let there baby crawl around on a table in a house!! So we ate our bread and asked if we could have more. Our waitress ( the one who already knows no matter what she does at this point is getting a 6 dollar tip) leaves to get our bread is MIA. We look over and she is standing at the counter telling another patron about her POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION!!! What a nightmare this place is. Our total after a 10.00 dollar discount was still 24.00 dollars!! If I would have paid 30.00 for that mess I would have flipped out for sure! NEVER NEVER NEVER EAT HERE!!! I am from New York. What the owner displays is not "New York attitude" -- it's just plain rudeness. Their pizza may be some of the best NY style pizza in the area, but I won't continue to patronize an establishment that does not respect its customers. read more

While the food is good by Colorado standards, the owners need a serious attitude check. I can deal with the grumpiness that is usually abounding, but what infuriates me is that every time I have been there over the past month the owner is parked in the ONLY handicapped parking spot in the lot (with no handicap plate and no tag either). read more

The food here is mediocre but that isn't what prompts my low rating of this establishment. Its the service. Not the wait staff but the owner he treats everyone like they are lower than he is and that attitude has seemed to rub off on their daughter as well, who snaps at the staff through the window to the kitchen. We were so lucky to discover Original New York Pizza shortly after moving here. My husband is a New Yorker and I also lived there so both know and love New York style pizza. This place does not disappoint! The best of the best New York pizza in the front range! As a bonus it's also a locally owned family business. Service can be a bit curt at times but never so much as to stop us from going when we want to indulge. Not sure how the food is at this restaurant because I did not make it past the door. The cashier (lady in a pink cast) was probably the rudest person I've encountered at a restaurant in years. I had never heard of it but decided to try it out when I got a coupon for a calzone in the mail. When I stepped up to order I was given a rude tone for not having called it in over the phone, then when I went to make the $6.50 purchase on a credit card I was told, "No, no way, not for just $6 bucks" If you decide to eat here you should probably be aware of the other restaurants in the area since that's where you'll be eating after she kicks you out. I guess they have enough business (though it looked about 25% full during a lunch hour) so they don't really need any new customers. read more

The vibe is familiar to me since I lived in New York for a few years, but it can be intimidating to those not used to direct, no nonsense style of communication. Being from NY I've been disappointed many times with claims of "authentic NY pizza". However when I first walked in the door and saw the owner I knew this place was different. I asked him if we should sit down and wait for a waitress and he said "not if you want to eat". So I looked at the menu at the counter and saw no anchovies on it so I ordered that on the pizza. He said no problem. The pizza was very good unlike most Colorado pizza, it was definitely NY style. The pizza nazi guy is great! If you have a thin skin and want to be waited on hand and foot this might not be the best place for you. If you read the other reviews of this place they mention the absolute horror that is the owner...I used to go to the restaurant for pizza because it was near my home and not dominos or pizza hut...Decent enough pizza, but the owner ruined it for me and i will never return...I was standing there waiting to pick my pizza up and it was made wrong...when i asked that he fix it he said he would not because it was done the right way...i asked for a refund and he would not give me that...so i turned around and walked out...honestly, it amazes me that the place stays in business with such a completely rude human being running it...no customer service and absolutely no class...even if mario batali was the chef there i would not take the disrespect... read more

I cant figure out why all the bad reviews. Just dont eat there I guess. I just order to go and pick it up. Ive been living in CO since 95. This is the only decent pizza in this area. What I have found with all pizza places is that the pizzas often vary depending on who makes them but most of the time I get a good one here. Great crust, its supposed to be chewy and crispy, thats good east coast bread. If you dont like lame thick gourmet pizza than this is your place. Just pick it up. Pulcinella in Lafayette makes a good pie but too inconsistent. I think Originals is best in denver area although Im sure theres places I havent tried. read more

Arrogant & rude. I thought I may have caught the owner on a bad day the first time, but after a few visits I realized that the owner is simply not nice. The last time I picked up a pizza "to go" the lid was raised about 6 inches above the box. I asked them to please tape it shut and I was told to "hold it shut with my hands"! We went there as a family of 4. Two adults, a 3 year old and a 10 year old. After ordering they brought our "salad" which was an over dressed small plate of ice berg lettuce, tomatoes and olives. Nothing special. Next came the main course, mediocre. Had to ask for more napkins and straws for the drinks. The biggest shock came when we tried using a coupon. The owner said the bill was $50! We added it up afterwards, and we are sure he over charged us by $5. Then when we left a tip which was just under the 18% (can you figure out what 18% exactly is standing at the register?) Having a NY attitude still means showing customers respect. The people at this place are so rude and the pizza tastes like what I ate in the school cafeteria growing up. I try to support local businesses but was treated badly here on numerous visits. During our last visit we placed our order, were told it would be 20 minutes, so we said we'd wait outside. Returned in exactly 20 minutes and the owner was still sitting reading his paper. He saw us and THEN got up and started making our food. Ridiculous. And that was our best experience. Owner's reply that teenagers aren't employed is not true; several teenagers were waiting tables when we visited (on a Friday nite). Gabby Gourmet's opinion of food she was served in 2008 - we're almost to the end of 2011 now - has NO relevance to the quality of the food my husband and I were served just weeks ago. I am willing to overlook so-so food in most instances - but if it is coupled with the attitude we received literally seconds after we walked in the door, then it's much harder to overlook. Owner's remark that I should have spoken to him about our food is almost laughable - we were seated in the very front section, directly across from the prep area, and we could hear nearly all of his interactions with other customers throughout our visit and he was as rude to all the other non-regulars as he was to us. I read many reviews and yes, the family that runs the place lacks, or refuses to use, customer service skills. The owner Ralph is a nice guy, but I and others have nicknamed him "the Pizza Nazi",(~Sienfelds soup nazi) because of his rudeness. But, aside from the lack of pleasantries, I like the food. I have not tried the entire menu, and just usually get pizza. My favorite is their white pizza. The dough/crust is like is should be. I am from back east and there are not may pizza joints in Colorado that make pizza dough/crust like it is supposed to be, crunchy and chewy, even the next day when it is cold! If you want good pizza like from back east, give it a try. I heard Ralph is from Italy, and had a joint in New York City before moving to Broomfield. Original Pizza is a small but nice family owned Italian restaurant. I highly recommend Original Pizza however; I will say that for those looking for immediate, constant, or excellent service you may find your experience unworthy. The heavily Italian influenced personality's of the staff, calls for a good deal of patience or the utmost respect for classic Italian humor. Original Pizza has been in Broomfield for twenty years now and is a neighborhood favorite amongst many families in the Broomfield area. Although their personalities may not necessarily keep some coming back, if there is one thing that would, it's their Italian-New York style pizza. Their New York style pizza has been recognized state wide as one of the best in Colorado. As for the rest of the food, there is nothing that stands out. In general, they are all average homemade Italian dishes. In some instances, it is obvious that a tight budget is being maintained due to slow business. I first noticed that the lights in the back dining room remain turned off until the front dining room consisting of four tables, was filled. I also noticed, that each refill is questioned rather than automatically brought and the plates are just big enough to fit your meal. Because of the small restaurant type the amount of business can never be reliable, so staffing is always minimal. For example, during peak times don't be too surprised if service begins to lack. Because it is a small restaurant, it can be pretty expectable for a private conversation to become public really quick. The main downfall for me however, eating alone, is that they don't except credit card for any bills under fifteen dollars, bummer. All in all, Original Pizza is a good restaurant and I encourage anyone and everyone to try it. I hope that you can enjoy the strong Italian influence of the restaurant as much as I did. read more

Went there with my sister on a Saturaday afternoon. The place was overrun with children. We used a coupon from the Entertainment book and were immediately told that there would be 15% gratuity added to the bill. I was ok with that because we usually tip that, but when we got the bill she tacked on a 20% tip and the service was not the greatest. I have used coupons for many restaurants in the area and this was the first one that demanded an up front tip. If I could just rate the atmosphere I would give this place "zero" stars, its a dump. This guy is squeezing every dime he can out of this joint. There were no napkins on the table and were given one each of the cheapest ones money could buy and this is Italian food. The food was mediocre at best, but overpriced for what wou get. I knew we were in trouble when she brought the salad; just iceberg lettuce with a glop of dressing, no tomatoes, no cucmbers, no nothing, just iceberg lettuce. THIS IS THE FIRST REVIEW I HAVE EVER WRITTEN ABOUT ANY RESTAURANT BECAUSE THIS PLACE LEFT ME TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED. Needless to say, I will never go back, not even for a pizza. Get the pizza. Anything else you order is going to be your run of the mill Italian food, even though it is still very enjoyable. But the pizza is where it is at. Some people say its no "New York Style" Pizza. Yeah it is. This is coming from a guy who lived in Whitestone, Queens for 10 years (Although I do think Cosmos' Pizza in Boulder makes a better New York SLICE). But if you want a pie, goto the Original. And for the record, who gives a crap if the customer service is lousy?!?! If you knew what you were doing, you wouldn't have that problem.
