We had pizza here for a late lunch for my birthday. The pizza was pretty good, and my wife liked the drink that she ordered. The staff was very pleasant, and the place was clean including the restrooms. The parking is a bit of hassle, but there is a parking garage near. However, I suspect during the busy hours good luck finding free parking. We didn't pay, but just note it when you come here. Overall, it was a good experience, but a bit pricey for eating out at essentially a bar. read more

This place is just okay. The cheese pull is great and cooked on the whole bottom, and the cocktails were good! But honestly look at the pizza. It just looks lifeless. It's anemic. No color, no life. Just putting a little olive oil on the crust as it comes out would do this place wonders, or maybe playing with the dough recipe a bit. But again it does taste better than it looks, just want them to kick it up a notch. Service was great, loved the bartender! Excellent pizza, and the drinks are solid. The wine list, however, is at best average -- and probably not even quite that. My bigger concern is the pricing. For a simple pizza parlor, they charge like they're running a white-tablecloth establishment, and the value just isn't there. Because of that, I've only gone once, and at those prices, I'm not in a hurry to return. read more

I want to preface by saying I placed a pick up order around 7:30 - not realizing at the time they closed at 8. So my advice is that if you don't deliver the same quality 30 min before close as you would 30 min after you open, then don't bother even opening. We got 1 pepperoni and 1 margherita and the tomato/mozzarella appetizer. The appetizer was completely missing the basil. The pepperoni pizza had 2 pepperoni per slice. The margherita was just meh. And both pizzas were COLD. Like they had made them at least an hour ago and they had been sitting out cold. The bartender who I paid was lovely. I've been having issues with my credit cards since I'm out of town and she wasn't rude or nasty and was understanding of the situation. That issue took about 5 min so definitely not long enough for the food to be cold. Honestly, the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 was because of the bartender. The pizzas themselves were just ok at best. NONE of the food was worth the $60 I spent. I'm in Broomfield fairly regularly and sadly I don't think will be returning to Protos. read more

51$ (incl tip). The salad was iceburg lettuce, 4 slices of parmesaen, one sliver of cold bread, and one morsel of an anchovy. The margarita DOCG was a cold terrible joke for that price. Diced tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. Neither found here. No seasoning, zero flavor. Crust like cardboard/sawdust . I cannot recommend. Same for the Hawaiian. Next time either I wait to go home to NYC or take the trip to Pizza Locale. Never again. Save your money and tip especially with waitstaff who was rude & condescending when I asked at least for a second morsel if an anchovy. read more

The Low Rider comes with a blend of house made honey tomato chipotle sauce, mozzarella, bacon, pineapple, and cilantro. Yuuummmm! ++ John, our server was awesome! The place was packed and he handled the throng of guests with ease! ++ Dessert! Mmm... They offer a variety of Italian favorites including cannoli and tartuffo. All we delish! ++ Great location for post-show sustenance! ++ Happy hour from 4pm to 6pm! Def some great deals to check out there! CON's: -- While they boast a rather impressive local brew list, much of it is bottle versus draft. Bummer! -- They were out of many of their drink and dessert items. Still the best pizza in the Denver area, even if a little far too the north. Great patio for people watching in nice weather, convenient to the Broomfield Event Center, and there's a free parking garage next door. We enjoy lunch with Kayla and the team every week, and I try to bring my volunteer committee there a few times each year. Also, try their half-baked pizza for takeout! I crank up the gas grill with some wood chips and throw the pizza in for 4 minutes. Yum! read more

This is my happy place! Kayla, the manager/bartender extraordinaire, really makes this place special. Always cheerful and friendly, even when it's crazy busy or there's some problem that needs to be handled. Kal, her other bartender, is also very friendly and attentive. The variety of pizzas are all delicious, with a fresh, crispy crust and really good choice of toppings. The white pie is great if you want something simple yet tasty without tomato sauce. The Pontiff, with spinach, garlic, and roasted tomatoes, is my new favorite. The Angel, with red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni and pesto, is another favorite. And, of course, the Margarita DOCG, with roasted tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella, is also yummy--I prefer it crispy. They have salads and desserts that are good too. People watching on the patio, where you can have your pup, is a lot of fun since the First Bank Center is just down the street. Pontiff & a Protini....a heck of a name for an order. Lets explain....the pontiff is a personal pizza including olive oil. Spinach, & roasted tomatoes a real cool combination that worked well. Where as the Protini.....think coffee cocktail....pretty much spot-on taste wise. I stopped by this place b/c it was walking distance from my hotel. It turned out to be a sect stop. Quaint little pizza shop with a full liquor bar! Residents who live in the Arista Uptown neighborhood are lucky to have a place like this within these mixed use buildings. Pizzas here are not the run-of-the-mill big chain stuff! These artisan pies are all crispy thin crusts with super fresh ingredients! I read about some reviews complaining about the burnt crust... yes it did appear burnt, but it definitely did not taste burned at all. Protos used to be a favorite for our usual Sunday dining for Plus years , while our favorite bartenders aren't there anymore, we have been frequenting the same and getting to know the only other one left. Wish we could say we want to keep coming back, we just found her to be kind of rude, inconsistent and impersonal. As for the pizza, we love it, but it's also been very inconsistent because of the drastic change in staff. We overheard a comment about this being the "dream team" and we hope that management re-evaluates what they consider to be that, as it doesn't come out in their service or food. Last few experiences have also lacked cleanliness and raised larger concerns about our safety dining in this establishment. Hopefully management takes this review and makes some very necessary adjustments. My office is down the street from Proto's so we stopped in for a pie for lunch. We were greeted immediately and our server was very friendly and on top of it. We both ordered the tomato, mozz, basil salad (which was delicious!) and a personal pie each. I went with the white pizza, added black olives and prosciutto. It was yummy! The crust was cooked perfectly and it was just a filling tasty pizza. I'm happy its really close to the office as I think it's a good lunch spot for me! read more

I really want to like this place, but they don't make it easy. We've eaten here multiple times and never end up feeling like we get a good value for our money. The pizzas are expensive (upwards of $20/each), lack flavor, not filling (a large really won't satisfy two adults with a decent appetite), and are often over-charred. I understand a cracker crust, but I've nearly broken a tooth on a black crust that just shatters. I think the only time we've ever been happy is when we stopped by late-evening for a glass of wine and a couple cannolis. Still expensive, but at least we weren't disappointed by the pizza. I wish they would at least expand their appetizer menu to give some more non-pizza options. Also, of note, Memorial Day weekend 2021, none of the staff members were wearing masks. I guess that's their thing now, and we were there for takeout anyway, but it would have completely deterred me from dining indoors. read more

My daughter and I stopped in for a quick dinner, and were so happy we did. We needed a new pizza joint and we found it. The staff was so friendly and on top of it there. They greeted us immediately and didn't miss a beat. Our pizza was half a proto pie and half angle pie. We couldn't decided so we got both. The flavors where spot on delicious. Lived in neighborhood for 2 years and never tried proto's till today and I'm glad I did. I had the Caesar salad and the proto pie. Caesar salad was very fresh although I knocked a star off because if your going to put pieces of actual anchovies on the salad (not including the Caesar dressing) the expectation is that there will be more then 1 little piece. The thing crust wood fired pizza was very good although could have used a little bit more sausage. Overall 3.5 stars. read more
