Good Crust, good sauce, but a little runny, and definitely not enough cheese (Order extra). I am a pepperoni guy and here they have a lot to learn, what a grease-fest (Please buy some better pepperoni ! ) - also tried the sausage - eh, not that great either, ended up picking a lot of it off. Will go again though when I don't feel like driving to Proto's Pizzeria in Lafayette - maybe I'll just get an extra cheese pizza or try one of thier specialties none pizza items. If I could give this place a -5 I would. I had such a craving for an eggplant parm sandwich that I googled eggplant parm near me. There was only 2 places that came up and I figured I would pick the closer one (mind you it was still 25 mins away). I had ordered on my way over because we were kind of in a rush. The old man picks up the phone and takes my order quick and hangs up on me. I wasn't even sure if he heard everything I ordered. So we get there, they end up selling us on a salad and soup. the $2.50 side salad was small enough to eat in 3 bites. The minestrone soup was awful -veggies were mushy and bland. Moving right along to the eggplant parm sandwich- their website has this description "thinly sliced, lightly breaded, pan fried eggplant baked with layers of sauce and mozzarella cheese" LIARS - there was actually no breading at all on the eggplant, it was 1 super thin layer drenched in so much sauce and a little bit of cheese that it was falling apart everywhere. It was so wet and soggy I couldn't even eat it. The lady finally asks us after 15 mins of staring at this pathetic excuse for an eggplant parm how everything is and I told her- NOT GOOD. she offered me one small slice of cheese pizza, which was at best "meh". Chicken parm was still cold in the middle and flavorless. I would have liked a refund instead of any more of their disgusting food. I used to look forward to ordering pizza and a sub from Original Pizza about every other month. Sure, it was more expensive than every other pizza place within 20 miles, but the quality was great. That changed maybe 3 years ago. Oh, the price stayed the same, but suddenly the subs were 90% bread and romaine lettuce ribs with far less meat, cheese, and vegetables. The eggplant in my sub was sliced so thinly and breded so poorly that it was like eating eggplant leather rather than eggplant parm. Then there's the pizza: it changed to a flavorless, unseasoned, greasy mess that was actually COLD and so underdone the last two times we ordered carry out that the dough was still raw in the middle of the crust. The grease literally soaked through the cardboard box in less than 20 minutes. Gross. It had a good run, but it's way past its prime and seems to be suffering from that old restaurant pitfall: a menu that hasn't been updated in 15 years combined with a need to cut costs and move to cheaper ingredients and smaller portions of meat, cheese, and veggies on everything you order. I used to love this place despite the lack of atmosphere and poor service, but the food has really gone from "excellent" to "worse than the Olive Garden" in quality. read more

Hello again all of my fellow restauranteers...here comes another review from Westy-Tim! Today was lunch with the wife day. We decided on Italian and drove to Original New York Pizza. Ok, the owner, who is the one that makes the pizzas is crusty, just like the pizza crust. His wife, who runs the counter is just as crusty. Folks, these transplants from New York brought to our lackluster mountain-area town some seriously good pizza. My wife ordered the two-slice and a drink special...like $4.99 or some trash like that. She ordered a slice for baby Ethan and the crusty lady turned around and said she had one slice that was still warm but wouldn't burn the baby's mouth. Score one for the crusty lady! She then proceeded to cut the piece of pizza into bite size morsels...score two for the crusty lady! You all know my low-carb diet...I ordered a side of meat-balls and a side of sausage covered in marina and mozz! We both ordered a side salad also. We bought a friend the two-slice special also. Drinks added and the total of about 25 beans. Not too bad. My dish came out double plated as the first plate had roasted in the oven to melt the cheese. The meatballs were tender and flavorful. The sausage was amazing. The pizza eaters were similarly impressed. Don't miss out on this New York treasure just because of some crusty old transplants! As always, tonight's dinner was delicious. We usually go with a crowd, tonight there was only 9 of us. No biggie, they got us two tables set & ready to go in a NY minute. My hubby and I have recently relocated to CO from NY. We have been searching for good pizza ever since we got here only to be terribly disappointed every time. Luckily someone mentioned this place to me (Thanks Marc) and thank the heavens he did!! The pizza is wonderful. It def reminded me of home!! And I have no clue what everyone's problem with the owner is..he was funny and charming and pleasant!! I loved listening to the back and forth between him and (who I think is) his daughter. Reasonable prices, super fast, friendly, and accomodating. The garlic knots are also really, really good. This has become a staple take out food in our house. Definitely recommend!! This review is more my husband's review, since he is a NY style pizza snob and I only every buy pizza here because he loves it. Apparently what he loves is the sauce, because its bursting with tomato flavor. He also really likes the crust when its fresh out of the oven. I would say that I go to this place about once per month, and I've never had a problem. I always just get a large cheese pizza for maybe 12 or 13 bucks, then take it home and VOILA! --Happy husband. I've never had them refuse my credit card or yell at me, and the pizza is always ready before I arrive (despite my occasional early arrival). I'm really sorry to all you folks who have bad experiences with the owner, but I have seen no evidence of rudeness despite being there at least 8 times this year. read more

I'd give Original Pizza about 3 and one-half stars. Great stuffed shells, pizza is good, ravioli and garlic bread are good. Service is hit-or-miss. Either they are very nice and attentive, or they ignore you and treat you like you are bothering them. That being said-not the cleanest place I have ever eaten. Some of the best New York style pizza I have found in Colorado. Great thin NY style crust with fresh cheese and really good sauce. The Italian sausage is amazing and the veges are fresh. The people that operate this restaurant were great and the service was attentive and prompt. One of the only places that I've ever had an experience that was anything like a New York Italian experience. Great pizza with a terrific sauce -- oh how I love their sauce. I really liked this pizza, so I kept coming back... well, I kept ordering delivery. One Friday night they told us they only had two people working... I thought that was odd being a pizza joint. That night, it took us right at two hours from the time of order to get our two pies. We were really bummed, because we had specifically ordered the pies so they would be there right after we got home from running errands all day, and by the time the pies got to us, we could have prepared something at home. :( Also, I love pizza but can't have cheese. I ask to substitute spinach for the cheese, because it's not just that I'm being picky, I can't digest cheese and have terrible reactions to it. I usually am not charged for a dietary restriction, but here I don't get the cheese on the pie, and I get charged extra for the topping... and it's not even covering the whole pie. :( read more

I have been going here for over 15 yrs. Every now and then I get urges for pizza. No other pizza will do. For 4 years I had a live-in 100% Italian GF from Brooklyn. Shortly after moving in with me she began to 'Jones' for a really good pizza. After I told her about Ralphie's Original Pizza and we came here for her, too, that was it. No need to go anywhere else. They advertise Brooklyn pizza served with a Brooklyn attitude. She, being from Brooklyn asked, "What is a Brooklyn attitude?", to which Ralphie replied, "What's it to ya'?". Then he has the nerve to have an ATM next to the counter so you can get cash out and pay those wonderful ATM fees. We came in to get lunch, he didn't want our business if it wasn't cash, so we left. Worst service ever! We walked in hours before to grab a menu for take out and told us they close at 9 and that they will take their last order at 845pm. We called at 830 and we were told kitchen is closed and that we were only able to order pizza and nothing else from menu. Then whoever took the pizza order was so rude that I had to tell them to just cancel the order bc I had to repeat my single veggie and pepperoni order so many times. And btw their "to go menu" has no address or phone number on it so you have to google it .. Lame .. Such a waste considering I heard so much about their food read more

Now THIS is PIZZA!!! Having grown up 60 miles outside The City, one thing that you never plan to find when you move away is PIZZA!! Real, handmade, back home Pizza. Original Pizza has the crusty bottom and the slices, when you fold them, just the last inch sags a bit under the weight of the cheese and toppings! I recommend "The Sizzler". Pepperoni and Garlic. "Forget about it".... I mean really forget about patronizing this place. The owner cops an attitude like someone forgot to tell him he was in Colorado. Between the owner's negative attitude towards coupons and credit card purchases less than $15 dollars save yourself the aggravation and time and go elsewhere. The coupons are sent out on regularly basis but, the way staff acts, one would think someone was illegal printing them. They charge an extra and unreasonable amount of gratuity, if you use a coupon for eat-in service. They also dis-contently credit coupons if you call in an order but, forget to bring it in with you. And don't get me started on the attitude you catch if your total is less than $15 dollars. The owners is a real ball buster, even though the total is well above $15 dollars when you factor in tip. My advise go elsewhere... the owner acts like he doesn't need the business so don't give it to him. read more
