Another LA staple , if my family and is craving some fast food it's either in n out or Tommy's. It just really depends on how we are feeling. The service is always kind and friendly and the place is always usually clean especially for a fast food place . It's probably not the healthiest but it sure does taste good. A nice cheat meal that hits the spot for fast food craving. I always get the chili fries with the fries well done. The food honestly isn't the most aesthetic but that's not the vibe here. A lot of 5 stars for taste of nostalgia. Sorry I disagree, 3 stars for thee. I hope they improve the flavor. It's just a burger with textured soy protein "chili" in it. The patty wasn't seasoned (no salt) and the chili is really plain, no flavor is what I'm saying. Wendy's and Wienerschnitzel chilis have more flavor no doubt. I got it at $4 during their promo, and even then I don't know whether I would want it again. $16 for a combo and $18 for a burger, drink, and fries is really pushing it for this kind of fast food. Chili's and Applebee's offer a better value, even taking it to-go. Don't get me wrong, I get up eating a lot of these; from Rick's to Jim's to The Hat, I'd love a good greasy spoon because it's tasty, greasy, and indulgent. This place is just greasy sadly. The two items came out to be $15.77 with tax which is totally reasonable but i would've paid an extra buck or two for some higher quality ingredients. For being a lasting chain and the chili looking so luscious, I felt mislead and disappointed. This was my first breakfast at Tommy's. I got the breakfast egg and sausage sandwich with tomato, onion, pickles and chili. It was so delicious. The food was hot, and made right on the spot. The restaurant was super clean and the wait staff were very friendly. I haven't been here before, it was a delightful morning, the sun filled the 50's style restaurant and reminded me of a simpler time in the world. I loved coming in for this visit. The workers here are really friendly. It's my first time here and she helped me with my order and suggested the yellow peppers. I ordered the double cheeseburger with chili meal, upgraded to well done chili cheese fries. I added extra tomato, mustard, and the yellow peppers on the side. I would order extra pickles instead as you need the acid. It tastes exactly as you think it's going to taste. Mild chili, there's not a lot of spices or flavor in my opinion. This is the seling point as it's on every menu item, but the chili overwhelms the flavor of anything else and I didn't think it tasted very good to be the highlight of the chain. Strange story, but I had the worst sore throat and I could barely eat due to the intense pain. I was resultantly very hungry and thought for some reason that some soft chili fries would do the trick, and boy, was I right. The pepperoncinis on the side were extremely spicy and acidic and the meal soothed my throat. It was nothing short of miraculous. In a world where food only gets more expensive and comes in smaller portions at the same time, Tommy's hooked it up. You could eat their chili with a fork and none of it would spill. It has been YEARS since I had Tommy's! I used to go consistently when I was working in DTLA and our director would take us there for a yummy team lunch, resulting us coming back to the office with food coma. BF had a hankering for some Tommy's, which we both haven't had in a long while, so we drove to our nearest one in Monrovia. I still remember food OD'ing with both the chili burger and the chili fries so I was hesitant to order the same again, but BF convinced me that we got this. So we ordered a chili cheeseburger ($4.45 with no pickles), double chili cheeseburger ($5.70 with no pickles, no mustard, and extra onions), and chili fries ($5.30). We both love that there was a graphic at the register of what's in a typical burger so you can quickly and easily modify your order. Food was out in a reasonable amount of time and we enjoyed it back home. While we would've loved to have more chili on the fries and we remembered the burgers bursting with chili back then (maybe it's less due to costs nowadays), it still hit the spot. We weren't too food comatose afterwards, so that's a plus (or minus if you think of it on the other side of the coin). We're eyeing their breakfast burrito (available all day and comes with chili) and their breakfast sandwich next! They have their own parking lot, so it's not too hard to get a spot. Came to Tommy's for the first time last week and ordered a double chile cheeseburger, chile cheese fries and a soda. I thought it was quite expensive as it costed $18. My order took a very long time too. The person who ordered after I did got my order before me. I think I waited around 15-20 minutes for my food which is quite a long time for fast food. However, when I got my order, one of the employees apologized to me for the long wait and threw an order of regular fries for me which was nice of him. The fries were really crispy and fresh. The chile cheese fries were ok. The chile was good but they didn't put that much cheese. I think after like two bites I didn't see any cheese left. I really liked the burger. It was juicy and the chile was good, just like the chile from the fries. I grew up close to the Tommy's in Eagle Rock and grew accustomed to FAST AFFORDABLE AND good friendly service...Not so at the Monrovia Tommy's. On a Saturday late afternoon in May, I drove to Monrovia Tommy's for a drive thru from San Gabriel. I was sad of the Pasadena location was closed. The closest one is Monrovia or El Monte. I haven't eaten at a Tommy's in yearsss, I used to eat their chili fries before it started to give me heartburn. lol However a friend of mine mentioned their soft served cone and I feel this treat itself deserves a shoutout! I visited recently on a Sunday afternoon and there was no other customers inside. The soft serve cone is only $1.75 and it's definitely sharable! It's tall, creamy, and not too sweet.
