    Carne Asada Taco to go
    Alice Y.

Good food, great price, and friendly employees. JB Burgers offers breakfast, burgers, hot dogs, salads, sandwiches, and American and Mexican style meals. I tend to order the same thing to go. Order at the window or call ahead to place your order. Credit card accepted. FOOD ORDERED - Cheeseburger ($5.45). A wide and thin burger that tastes fresh and good without being greasy. I usually order everything on it except for onion, so it comes with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and housemade thousand island dressing. My fiance sometimes gets the regular cheeseburger and adds bacon for $2. The bacon is thick and crispy, but adds a lot of oil. - Breakfast Burrito with bacon ($10 + $2.5 avocado). A solid breakfast burrito option. The scrambled eggs were well done, and the large pieces of diced bacon were thick and crispy. However, the slabs of creamy russet potato, melted cheese, and soft tortilla made the overall texture a bit soft for my liking. The burrito was served with a tangy, herby green salsa that kind of tasted like tomatillo and Italian dressing. - Hard Shell Ground Beef Taco ($4.50). This had ground beef, cold cheese, lettuce, tomato, and raw onion. While the taco was tasty, it was excessively oily. After wrapping it up in napkins to drain for 5 minutes, it still doused my fingers in oil! - Carne Asada Taco ($5.50). It was alright. The taste was kind of like an American-Mexican taco. The portion was large, essentially two tacos in one. Beef, lettuce, and green salsa topped double corn tortillas. The carne asada was just okay, a little lacking in grill flavor. SIDES ORDERED - Chili Cheese Fries ($6.45 - small). This is my kryptonite. The savory chili tastes like a brown gravy with chunks of ground beef. The fries stay somewhat crispy under the generous topping of chili and shredded cheddar cheese. - Zucchini Fries ($6.45). It only comes in one size: a huge bag that serves at least 2 people. The breading adheres well to the tender zucchini spears, which have a wonderful vegetal flavor. It pairs well with their thick and creamy ranch. The only thing that could be better is maybe more herbs in the ranch. - Onion Rings ($6.45). I didn't enjoy these. The onion was bland and basically just tasted like the breadcrumb batter.

I love onion rings and this place is top 3 on my list of best in LA. Always hot, crunchy, and never greasy. The burgers here are good, but when compared to other burger options in LA, I can only give this place a 4/5.

Burger and fries. It got the job done, no complaints!

It's an honest little burger joint filled with the nostalgic feeling of small town America and days long past. Admittedly nothing really to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. The staff was pleasant to interact with. I'd definitely be happy to return here. Parking is not difficult to obtain in the area. There is a restroom present, but it's out in the back lot, and it appears you may need to ask for a key to use it.

Great neighborhood burger spot! I get my hair done at Agence Salon and eye this place every time I drive by. Finally stopped by and I'm so happy I did. I was trying to find something satisfying that wouldn't be too heavy. This was perfect. I ate half while heading to my next errand and the rest when I got home. It was delicious!! The grilled chicken was moist and flavorful. Loaded with bacon, cheese, tomatoes and lettuce. The bread was toasted but not too hard... didn't cut the roof of my mouth. I'll definitely be back for a breakfast burrito in the near future.

    Double Cheese Hamburger

I think I found my new favorite local hamburger spot...JB Burger in downtown Monrovia. We ordered: - Fried Zucchini - Onion ring - Chicken club sandwich - Chili cheese fries - double cheeseburger Everything was really good, but I really really love their fried zucchini and their chili cheese fries is definitely one of the best around San Gabriel Valley area. I'm already craving it now that I'm writing the review. Will most likely be back next week for some more fried zucchini and chili cheese fries. Please make sure to check them out if you are near the Monrovia area. Friendly service, good prices, and you can go walk around old Town Monrovia.

Visited this place after a morning bike ride with my buddy. Service was fast, the venue wasn't busy at all at 8 in the morning on a weekday, and the food was pretty cheap when the budget is tight! We got the regular breakfast platter, which wasn't anything to really rave about. The hash could be a little bit crispier as they were a little mushy when I got them, but the sourdough bread was toasted very nicely. Regardless it was decent food, at a good price!

Cheese burger and chili fries (small)

J B Burger is located in Old Town Monrovia. Their slogan is "good and plenty at a reasonable price" and I concur that is indeed what I experienced. This was one of the best burger joints I've been to in the 626 area. They have a small price parking lot, but I opted for street parking. I went on a Saturday evening and there were many customers inside. You order from the inside or outside, and can find seating indoor. It's a narrow restaurant, but there are still a good amount of tables perfect for smaller parties. I got to try the cheese burger for $5.45 and the small chili cheese fries for $6.45. The food came out very quickly, so this is perfect for a quick meal. Additionally, the portions are what you'd expect for that price. I was blown away by the flavors. The burger is truly an American dinner cheese burger with the perfect amount of vegetables to patty and sauce. They did not skim on the chili sauce for the fries - every fry was sauced and cheesed. Overall, with the delicious taste and great prices, I'd definitely come back.

2025 Monrovia Car Show. This great looking truck was parked in front of JB Burgers.

I arrived for the 2025 Monrovia Car Show about 9:30 am. Before I looked at all the cars I was hungry and felt like try JB Burgers. I ordered their Mix Breakfast Burrito. It comes with ham, sausage, bacon, eggs, cheese and potatoes. I substituted beans instead of potatoes. After waiting about 10 minutes my order was called. I sat outside, because I had my dog Frankie with me. The burrito came with homemade salsa. Taking my first bit the flavors of the, good quality bacon, eggs and cheese were first to tickled my tastebuds. Their beans were awesome and the sausage and ham were equally delicious and for the great price for under $12 I just could not complain. Their salsa was good but it did not have too much heat. On my next visit I'll have to try one of their cheese burgers.

Definitely not what locals are saying. 3 stars yes not 5 stars. Something cheap feeling going on here. Bacon is the worst around. Seriously a joke. Burger only food worth mentioning. Came here several times with locals from Monrovia. Every time it's a disappointment. Service usually consists of someone at counter arguing with someone or attitudes. Ambiance is what you would expect from small burger spot. Owners are cleaning up here financially and should invest in better ingredients or watch profits slide away. I would return only for a burger nothing else.

    David K.

This is one of the last classic style burger stands left. Bacon Cheese Burger combo is the go to. Fries are always cooked to perfection and they may have the best 1000 island ever. Staff is busy but friendly. The vibe is nostalgic. Great stop if you want that classic taste.

    Brandon S.

Ever since mooyah closed, i've been looking for another burger spot to be a regular. I passed by this place many times and finally decided to try it out. I got a hamburger and fries. I regret not coming here earlier. This was the classic american burger and fries I was looking for. Thick cut crispy fries packed with potatoes inside. The hamburger buns were nicely toasted on both inner ends. The sauce + tomato + lettuce gave a nice refreshing crunchiness in contrast to the juicy meat patty. It felt light and not greasy at all. Overall, 11/10 hamburger and fries. They are even cheaper than fast food chains while being way tastier. I am now a regular. I've gone 3 times now while writing this review. On a side note, I really like the old school interior. It's not a diner style but feels very 90s to me.

This last visit was frustrating enough that we won't be rushing back. We came in just before 6:00 PM with a babysitter and a limited window. The restaurant wasn't busy, maybe five tables, but service was completely off. Our entrée took about 45 minutes. It was comped, but no one acknowledged the delay. No apology, no explanation, nothing. We also got the wrong side (fries instead of onion rings), and while it was corrected quickly, it added to the overall feeling that no one was really paying attention. The bigger issue was how absent the service felt. Our server never came back for a second round of drinks, and I had to go to the bar myself. When I mentioned it, the response was basically that the server was busy with another table, which felt dismissive given how long we had already been waiting. No one was busy. By the time food arrived, it was around 6:45 PM. The problem wasn't just the wait, it was the lack of communication or basic hospitality the entire time. I actually emailed the restaurant directly after our visit and never heard back, which is disappointing and honestly says a lot. At this point, it's hard not to feel like they just don't really care about the customer experience or about keeping people coming back. It's a shame, because the place has potential, but right now it doesn't feel like it's being taken seriously.

We ordered: Popcorn Shrimp - Loved this sooo much! Reminds me of Sizzler. Popcorn shrimp was hot, fresh, and had a crispy batter! The actual popcorn bedding added to the theme :) 9/10 Ceviche - We got the Mexican style and it was good. Not as good at Kickin Shrimp, but it was a good appetizer to start with. 7/10 Clam Chowder - This clam chowder reminds me of Sizzler's clam chowder. It was creamy and thick, and had a few bits of clams. 7/10 Grilled Seafood Sampler - The fish was nice and flaky. Very flavorful with the seasoning that they used. The shrimp was nicely grilled. We were not a fan of the bell pepper that was on the skewer that bled into the shrimp itself. The flavor was a bit intrusive considering shrimp already has a light flavor. Finally the scallops were a pass. Just grilled, nothing amazing. 7/10 overall Shrimp Scampi Linguine - Not sure what the hype was about, but this was the most forgetful dish I had here. The linguini was a bit soft/overcooked, the fettuccini sauce was thick and not too cheesy, but more creamy, if that makes sense, and the shrimp was just shrimp (possibly the grilled shrimp) and was just drowned in the fettuccini sauce and lost any natural flavors it would've had. 3/10 Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream: Out of the disappointing Shrimp Scampi Linguini, the Lava cake made up for it. We do not usually get dessert, but we were sure glad we got this. Similar to the pazooki from BJ's, but a hot choco cake instead. I can do without the whipped cream though, since I don't like it too much. 8/10 Overall, this place is a small, quaint place for seafood. The appeal is the hometown feel, friendly service, all while providing good, affordable seafood.

It appears that Friday is one of their busier nights. Come prepared to wait approx 1 hr. Once we were sat the service was fast, we told our waitress her to come back for the food order but she seemed overwhelmed. She took her time to come back to get our order. At the end of our meal she let us know she was clocking out but we were unaware she wanted us to pay right away, she mentioned someone else was going to tend to us. I feel we had a miscommunication because she came back looking for the bill & we kept on chatting thinking another server was coming. Anyhow, I get it's a high pace environment & she might have been overwhelmed but she didn't directly tell us she needed us to pay. I like the food at this spot & variety of choices either way I'll come back but just not sure if it will be on a Friday night.

We ordered the ginger sesame salad (Chinese chicken salad) and the honey Dijon club salad. My husband wanted a sandwich which he used to get years ago and they were able accommodate him. It was the vegetarian garden grill sandwich. We really appreciated the friendliness of the staff at the cafe and their willingness to accommodate my husband's order. We went on a Saturday afternoon but were able to find a table. There are also tables on the patio as well. They have 2 bathrooms for customers. Great casual ambience.

I really appreciated that and was excited to eat my meal. Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by how I was treated by one of the staff members. I had ordered online ahead of time since I only have a short lunch break and planned to dine in. There were plenty of open tables, but I was told I couldn't sit because online orders weren't considered "dine-in" and that seating was reserved so staff could make tips. That explanation didn't make sense and honestly made me feel unwelcomed as a paying customer. I was really looking forward to my meal, and the interaction completely killed the vibe. If you plan on eating here, I would recommend ordering in person to avoid any confusion. I'd also suggest the café clarify this policy, because the inconsistency took away from what would have otherwise been a great experience.
