My Family unfortunately brought back bedbugs from a family vacation in June that contaminated our master bedroom. The bedbugs were contained to one room, our master bedroom, and we contracted Orkin in Manassas to kill the bedbugs. After 2 full treatments, one month apart, we still have bedbugs. During the 2nd treatment, Orkin performed an inspection and claimed that the bedbugs were dead and we could "return to our normal life." We waited an additional 3 weeks before returning our bedroom to normal and found bedbugs again. This has been going on for nearly 2 months and we have spent over $600.00 in services. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you do not use Orkin services and find a different pest control company who deserves your money. I am requesting a full refund from Orkin for failing and hope that you will make a better choice in pest control services than I did. read more

Called Orkin to remove a yellowjack nest from my basement. Very professional. Everything is good now. He provided me with suggestions.

Do not recommend this service. We attempted to cancel autopay and our next service date, and were told it was all good to go and cancelled. A few weeks later we received an email saying our service was complete and had received a charge through autopay. We never received any type of contact to even let us know anyone was coming, which we would have once again said was not needed. Instead they came at 7am, serviced the outside without ever even alerting us they were there and charged us. This was our second time trying this company and our last. read more

Person on phone allowed me to schedule someone to come out on a Saturday 10am-12pm (next day). This should have been a red flag. Technician called 10am the morning-of, and let us know she is running behind since they scheduled her in multiple different cities in a span of few hours. Not sure if there was a miscommunication, but she still didn't arrive by 4pm. Gave her a call and told her not to come where she explained her situation. I don't blame the worker if the management is making them work unreasonable schedules. How was she supposed to make it on time if she was already behind at 10am? I wouldn't have minded rescheduling, but they want their money I suppose. I heard good things about Orkin, so it was disappointing to say the least. Local company near by was dependable and always came on time. Spoke with the manager on the phone & he sounded indifferent. They don't care about customers or employees. read more

We originally had a service contract with a smaller company that eventually sold to Orkin. We have been so very frustrated with our service ever since. We have had to make multiple requests, phone calls, and emails to get services completed. Technicians and other employees are very nice but somehow there continues to be no follow-through/ completion of the jobs they are supposed to do. I'm so incredibly tired of chasing after them to complete services. I'm done. I do not recommend unless you have a lot of time to be phoning and have a high threshold for frustration. One job that should have been completed in a day, took almost a year of calling to get them to come back and finish. Making matters worse, this was a service they recommended and when they finally completed it, there were issues with the seal. When we brought it to their attention to fix, they then said it wouldn't really make a difference. If the gap left open wouldn't make a difference, why did you recommend the repair to begin with??? Out of nowhere we had mice. I needed someone who could help me make them go away. The young man who came to help over the last year, Marcus B. did an OUTSTANDING job!!! I had millions of questions and Marcus B. took the time needed to answer all of them every time he came to treat the house. I was very grateful for that. While the mice have been gone for some time I wanted to keep treating the house for a few extra months just to make sure. I hope I never see them again but if I do, I will call Orkin and I will ask for Marcus. It is nice when you have someone that knows their job and takes the time needed to do it right the first time. We have an agreement with Orkin to perform periodic inspections and treatments for our house. For the last TWO instances, I have received and email alert 5 days prior to the visit and another alert the day before. Each alert gives me a two-hour window as to when the technician will arrive. In both instances, this time window has been missed! I called the office and have been told that the technician was overbooked by the office! I spoke with both the local and district managers regarding the lack of regard for their customers (me, in particular) and have informed them that should this occur again, I will be looking immediately for a new pest control service. By the way, the local manager said that he could not address was happened previously since he was not there/involved. Hard to write a review here but now I think it's warranted. We've been with Orkin for maybe 20 years. After we bought the house, we noticed termites had entered our basement and were chewing on cardboard boxes. We called Orkin. The initial treatment seemed reasonable and then the followup annual payments have been the same since then. However, this is ONLY for termite treatment which is only supposed to include the outdoor bait stations, maintenance of the stations with outdoor checks throughout the year, and then one annual inspection of the basement interior walls. That's it. We now use plastic storage containers. And no interior termite activity since treatment started. The outdoor inspector had been pretty much the same guy for years. Great guy, always nice. Apparently he has left Orkin so we were disappointed but so far hadn't had any issues. FIVE STARS for that guy. Except (minus one star) -- a couple years ago, two technicians showed up for the interior inspection when we usually had only one technician. They came in and checked the basement. Then I was told that they needed to look inside the garage and both the garage and house attics. I thought that was weird since they were only supposed to view the basement according to the original contract. Of course it was odd. I remember it was raining really hard. My husband was out of town and I'd taken the day off. They mentioned lots of mouse activity in our attic with multiple active nests. OK, sure, we had problems every now and then but it stopped after I quit feeding the birds outside. No food source, no more mice. Also, there were inactive mouse nests found in the attic when we bought this home and we didn't have them removed. The inspectors also complained that we had used bug bomb cans up in the attic to kill wasps and that was not at all a good idea. Of course, not as they can charge us a ton more to do the same thing. They quoted me almost $10K to have all of our insulation removed in just the house attic (not the garage attic). The insulation would be taken out THROUGH our house (really?). Do I really want that inside my living areas? And then they would blow in new insulation that contained boric acid which is not proven to kill or even deter mice. I called my husband and he said no way to all of it. The men didn't want to take no for an answer, telling me how my health would be affected by bacteria from mouse poop, etc., and I almost had to throw them out. They were here for hours and it was past my dinnertime by the time they came up with their ridiculous quote and finally left. They told me that mice were going into the house attic through holes in the wall between the garage attic and house walls. Nothing that $12 worth of expanding foam sealant wouldn't resolve (it did). Several weeks afterward, the quoted $10K price magically dropped but we didn't bite. At that time we had a fancy convertible and a nice SUV in the garage. Might I also note that we have a Clifton, VA address and are used to getting the "Clifton Surcharge". In February this year, a young man came to do the annual interior termite inspection of the basement. Since that last incident with the ridiculous quote, the followup inspectors had only asked to see the basement. Yet this inspector wanted to see the garage. Once he saw my husband's expensive sports car and motorcycle, he wanted to see the attic as well. I was confused but took him upstairs anyway. He said he saw snake droppings (a long black line with a white spot at the end) which indicated snake activity likely because of mouse activity. First of all that's not what a snake dropping looks like. We've had rat snakes around this wooded property. But inside the house attic? Yeah I'm sure they'd choose that over tons of available mice next door at our neighbors' barn. He quoted me only $5K to do the same work of removing the insulation (again take it out through the home's living areas) and blowing in new "treated" insulation. No thanks. Minus another star. After he left, I got up into the attic to look for myself. I found NO evidence of snakes or shed snakeskins. I called a local herpetologist -- that's a snake expert. He saw no "snake poop" in the attic nor other snake activity. In 2018, they claimed our annual payment was past due yet had cashed the check. This week we received a card to schedule our annual interior inspection which already happened in Feb of this year. When I called, I was told that I had to schedule for Nov when we just had one in Feb. They want me to schedule a Nov inspection in June? I was told the Feb inspection was "extra" not annual. Minus another star. Terrible bookkeeping. Only one exterior inspection so far this year. I'm not sure what's going on at this location as we've generally had great service, but please beware of possible scams. It's one thing to check "gratis" for other issues but in a 44-year-old house, you are going to find mouse activity remnants over the years. read more

This business gets an extra star solely for the fact that the tech who has been working my home for nearly the past 9 years doesn't deserve to go down with the ship on his own. I hope the manager of this location gets booted. I hope the regional|district manager gets booted. It is sad, because I have been trusting these folks to do their tasks of spraying for insects and spiders for the past 9 years or so. The tech performs well, but when we have a problem, the office staff gets a big FAIL stamped on their forheads. What a tragedy that the good techs of this business have to suffer because of dereliction of post and a haphazard approach to customer relations. For the past several years they have been fine with charging me, this year; they failed, and instead of calling me they *THINK* they sent me mail with back-due payments and then when I called to find out what to do about the ants in my home they try to hold me over the fire about these back-due payments; and said they were already in collections (internally). Hmm, seems auspiciously close to collections in general, and they didn't even provide me with services. I then pay them to get caught up, and they withheld the fact that I owed more for this month. Wait, WHAT? I was just on the phone with them. read more

I called and scheduled an appointment for them to come to my house and treat the yard for chiggers...only to have them call me about the time they were scheduled to arrive and inform me they do not perform that treatment. Avoid this place...unprofessional and lacking fundamental exterminator services. read more

Don't waste your money with these guys, unless you're a glutton for frustration. We subscribed with Orkin (Manassas) last year - we had problems with another company not checking the stations and not reporting issues. The salesperson told us they track all of the stations, annual inspections, etc. We also told them that they needed to call ahead - we have large dogs and a locked gate. No problem. So, they came out without calling - they couldn't have checked the back yard. When we called, they said all of the stations had been checked, and everything was fine. When we asked about the detailed report, the office then told us they don't track checks like that. We confronted them on not checking the back, and promised to send someone out. The next person who showed up a few weeks later could only replace the bait in the one station noted by the first tech. That was his department, and didn't know anything about the stations not being checked. Third time, they finally called and checked. Because my husband escorted the tech around the house. She didn't even have the right tool to open the stations. We decided not to renew at that point and we called them and told them why- our contract ended in April. Orkin just came through today and checked. They apparently have such bad recordkeeping that they couldn't figure out we no longer had a contract (and, no, they didn't call ahead - we would have told them we didn't have a contract). We'll be using Yelp to find a more reliable source for termite control. read more

NEVER AGAIN!! I was with Orkin since 2011 and with this branch since Feb 2014. I never missed my bills but recently in July of this year (2016) I went on vacation and received a bill when I returned. When I called this branch the employee told me they serviced the outside but since I was not home they could not service the inside and that's the bill for. I asked him to come and service the inside and I will pay the bill. I never heard anything after that conversation and last week I received a notice from a collection agency. This is THEIR treatment when you have been with them for long. Please safe you self time and go to a different company. read more

Great work! We booked our tech to come out yesterday, due to a conflict with another company we needed to change the time. Orkin did not guarantee my new time slot but they said they would try. The next day we received a call from a supervisor confirming our time slot. Since the tech had double booked, the supervisor came and did the job! I love seeing management in a company leading by example. Hopefully our other experiences are just like this one. read more

I purchased my house in December of 2010 and before moving anything into the house I had Orkin treat my house and check for activity from any pests. Based on their recommendation, I've had them come out quarterly to treat my house for bugs and mice. They've been coming to my house for three and a half years and never missed one of their appointments. I've even had to call them to come back between appointments, because I've spotted activity. My house backs to the woods and every winter I have to deal with mice entering my house. Since I've lived in my house the issue has gotten worse each winter. This winter has by far been the worst to where I can hear them inside the walls and in the attic. Orkin has come out to try to take care of the issue, but all they've done is put glue traps inside and poison outside. They clearly weren't trying to figure out where they were getting in, because one night while sitting outside I noticed a good size hole where it looked like the mice were getting in. I had to bring the hole to their attention and then they finally filled it with wire mesh. If my untrained eye can see the hole from six feet away, I don't know why they couldn't find it. I told them for months that I was hearing something in the attic and I was ignored. The last time they came out, I told them again that I was hearing something in the attic and nothing was done. I was told an inspector from Orkin would call me. Weeks went by and no inspector had called me. I called Orkin again to see if someone was going to come out to check the attic and they finally sent someone. The inspector opens the attic hatch and immediately tells me my attic is infested with mice and they're nesting in there. He shows me pictures of the mouse feces and the tunnels they've been making in the insulation. He says all the insulation is going to have to be removed, the attic treated and replaced with new insulation containing boric acid, which of course is a service Orkin provides. He then proceeds to tell me that it needs to be taken care of immediately, because my health is in danger and he's surprised the dogs and I haven't been feeling sick lately and that he's shocked my house isn't also infested with snakes, because they usually follow the mice, which are their food. After working up a list of what needed to be done he gave me an estimate of roughly $6,000 to perform all the work needed to clean my attic and rid it of mice. I then explained to him that Orkin had been treating my house on a regular basis since before I even moved in, so he spoke to his supervisor and they deducted what I had paid in their services for the last two years and he gave me a total of $3,700 to perform the work. He told me it needed to be done immediately before it affected my health even more and wanted to start first thing the next morning. When I moved into my house, the home inspector went into the attic and there was no sign of rodent activity. Shortly after that I also went in the attic and I saw no sign of rodent activity, so all this happened while under the care of Orkin. Even after repeatedly telling them I was hearing something in the attic, it was ignored for months and months until Yesterday. I was clearly paying for a service that wasn't being provided to me, now Orkin wants me to shovel out more money to cover what they neglected. For months now I've been living with everything from my kitchen cabinets and pantry on top of my kitchen table, counters and in my sun room, to try to keep them from the mice. I've had no use of my kitchen table or counter this whole time. I'm afraid to see the damage the mice have done to the wiring inside my walls, but I now have a GFI that trips constantly when nothing is even plugged in, even after it was replaced. I fear there's more damage inside my walls that I can't even see, because the cost could get much higher. To make things worse, I actually have been feeling sick lately and have developed a constant cough and had been to the doctor two weeks ago for it, thinking it was allergies. Now I have a strong feeling it's from the rodent feces my dogs and I have been breathing in for months. After complaining, I received a call from the manager at this location. He was very professional and lowered the cost to $2,400 and gave me a written guarantee that the new insulation would take care of the issue. I was later contacted by the area manager who wanted more information after receiving my complaint from the Better Business Bureau. I explained the situation to him and he gave me two quarters of free service. He also gave me his cell phone number and asked me to contact him if I had any issues with pests in the future. I had them perform the work of removing the old insulation and installing the new insulation with boric acid. It's too soon to know if this will actually fix the issue, but I do know one thing and it's that I'm out $2,400 because of their neglect. read more

The lady who answered the phone gave a huge attitude when I asked her a question and began to start arguing with me about whether or not the tech came inside. Which he didn't. I had the email reciept that said so and so did her computer. So I asked for the manager who was nice on the phone but charged me for the visit in between. Which they say they will come for free in between bi-monthly visits......very sneaky and rude people. read more

Horrible! So I got a contract May 2013 for one year, they were suppose to come ever 3 months for a total of 4 times that year. At first it was ok they were in time and helpful, but after the 1st time they were showing up in my house about ever TWO months charging me 90 dollars each time they came. It got pretty ridiculous, so I after The 4th and "final" time they came it had only been about 9 months!! I was heated, I called in to cancel the service and told them what was going on. Not only did the guy over the phone sound like he had no idea what I told him or said but he told me he canceled it as well. But guess what?!! Here I am 8-1-14 I get home from work and there's a receipt on my door saying that they came by to do some more work outside and that my card will be charged another 90 dollars!!! I am furious with these people, I am currently waiting on a phone call from the "branch manager" so I can vent off and tell them that I am not paying this time so they can go ahead return my money and cancel me for good!!! This location is shady. The manager did a termite inspection and said I had termites. They quoted me 1300.00 to get rid of them. This is a lot of money. I got a second opinion and no termites were found. I also asked my second opinion how much a typical termite treatment cost. It was less than 200.00. I called the manager and he had nothing to say. I'm not sure why they have bad reviews. We got stuck in a really bad situation. We had moved from an old cockroach infested apartment when the leasing office had told us we were basically out of luck and they couldn't do anything else, and that we were free to leave. So we moved into a new condo. We had thought we had checked everything and gotten rid of all the stuff we didn't need, just to be safe. When all of a sudden baby cock roaches come pouring out of our almost brand new couch (still had the tag) I tried to get them up by vacuuming and squishing with paper towels. But of course had to call an exterminator right away. They came promptly on time the next morning. And the two men were so nice. Mr. King and his partner Marcus. They were knowledgable, and friendly. They answered my questions. They inspected the condo up and down and every inch of the couch. They figured out where the infestation had started and treated the whole condo. They were fantastic. Mr. King explained everything to me, and even told me about an experience he had in his own home. And made me feel better by explaining why I'm lucky it wasn't bed bugs. Still havn't seen a bug. So I'm very happy with Orkin and my experience. Especially a this has just been the biggest nightmare and overtaken my life for the past year. Thank you guys so much! read more

I decided to write a review since the last one seemed to be in 2016. When we started Orkin we had just bought our home and noticed a roach problem from one area. Called Orkin-they came out and we started a service. They took care of the problem and service was good-AT FIRST. the Tech quit and we were left with another person who was nice but didn't do a freaking thing. I was due to make a payment. I got a call from an old lady who said that my invoice would be sent to collections but it was criss crossed with a check I had sent in. I found out today they took my payment over the phone AND CASHED THE CHECK. After I specifically told her to destroy it. In a few minutes I will be calling them. I no longer trust them with my money and my home. I suggest you stay away. There are so many competing companies. I plan on looking for a small business that will value me as their customer....ORKIN DOES NOT. read more

Orkin of Manassas is a very poor service indeed. At Christmas time, my wife appealed to them as we had mice in our home AGAIN. It is now Feb 1, 2014 and we have NEVER had a call, service, kiss by but, nothing. Oh, I'm sure we will get the quarterly bill in a timely fashion! Do not use this service, I have had better luck controlling pests on my own. We are rapidly learning what they should have done. Shame on this company for cheating older folks, we hope you don't let them fool you. read more
