We went toward the white, given the heat and toward the dry, because we hate sweet wines. Service was friendly and quick. The pours were generous. The wines were much better than I'd expected from a small town winery, located far from any wine country. But the prices per bottle are a little high, which makes sense since they can't rely on economy of scale in production. The tasting, however, is an excellent value. The shop is cute and carries some fun wine related items. They also do classes and allow people to bottle their own wine. Make sure to say hello to the friendly shop dogs.

They have a very large selection of cheeses from Wisconsin, the US, and abroad, with lots of unique offerings. We tried a chicken soup Monterrey jack and a mustard Gouda, both of which we really enjoyed. The chicken soup cheese actually tastes like chicken broth from a rich soup, which was definitely a new experience. The room is decorated and bright, and felt like a great spot to stop on a Saturday afternoon. It's a nice change of pace from the usually-crowded bars through downtown Cedarburg. You should be aware that the tasting room apparently can't serve charcuterie boards themselves because of the class of license (maybe no food service cert.) but they're happy to help you enjoy any of the cheeses you purchased in the store and offer you some wine(s) to accompany them. The bartender graciously offered us some crackers to go with the plate and we were able to put together a satisfying little wine tasting experience! The one thing I would like to see is a few more wines on offer for the wine flights; at the time, they were a bit heavy on sweet white wines, which is just not my taste but may be popular in the area. They also have a cocktail list, beers, and their own brand of several liquors, so there are plenty of options. We will be back for a nice afternoon glass of wine and some cheese. I wish I could give the winery a higher score. I have been coming here since the 70s. And I have…read morebeen going to the winery itself for many years. Although they do have a couple of good wines, most of their wines I find are either too sweet, or not up to par with other wineries around Wisconsin that I have tried. The last time we were there, there was a very small selection for the tastings that you could choose. It is changed a lot in the last few years. There are fewer wines to sample, and that's a bit disappointing. If you happen to like sweet wines, then I would suggest trying one of theirs. I think they do well with the sweet wines. It is just not something that I enjoy. And there used to be a place where you could sit next to the river and buy a bottle of wine and cheese and sit outside. Sadly, those days are gone because there's a restaurant there now. But I do believe they have a small spot on the parking lot side that you can sit at and enjoy.
