It may not look like anything special from the outside, but trust me when I say that the back patio of this restaruant is incredible. It's huge and tropical and feels like you're in Mexico. We felt like we were family there when our waitress greeted us and then the owner came over and made sure everything was ok. I think the chips and salsa are made by an angel because they tasted like heaven. As for all of our main dishes, their signature steak plate was great and the shrimp and fish tacos were some of the best we've ever had! I did not love the food but we'll have different tastes so def try it out first yourselves. To me the seasoning was off and I did not like the warm salsa as it wasn't spicy for me. I need the kick . I asked for grilled jalapeños to bring up the heat a bit. The rice was too mushy for me, the beans a bit salty and the meat over cooked :/ The marg was ok. My friend also did not love her food. She ordered a steak and veggies dish but it was mostly tomatoes. The restaurant itself is cute and spacious. Staff is very welcoming and sweet. I simply did not enjoy my food and I love Mexican food. I was very excited to visit this restaurant, as this restaurant was a recommendation from someone. My excitement quickly turned into disappointment. For starters, they were out of salsa for their chips and salsa. After being seated for about 15 minutes, our server finally asked us what we wanted to drink. I was surprised and disappointed when she told me they were out of horchata, too. It's ludicrous to me that a Mexican restaurant would be out of both horchata and salsa. I then decided to order the queso fundido to pair with my chips, since there was no salsa. I waited half an hour, but it never arrived. Meanwhile, a table that was seated after us received all of their drinks and appetizers. In the entire hour I was there, I only had the chips and a fresh watermelon agua fresca. The chips were okay, but the agua fresca was very underwhelming. While we were trying to order our entrees, we asked our server a question, and she said she needed to go into the kitchen to find the answer. She never came back. In fact, we only saw our server a total of two times during our visit. The restaurant wasn't very busy, so we were all surprised that the service was so slow and poor. Our server lacked both communication and hospitality. My party got tired of waiting, so we decided to leave. It was a complete waste of time. Pretty sure this restaurant is closed... I have called multiple times on different days and swung by on different nights.

My son's piano recital's have been held here for the last two years. I love that we have a spacious place that serves food to have the recitals! Shout to the Guillermo Orozco who is the owner of the restaurant. He is always walking around trying to help in anyway he can. I appreciate that he took the time to open the gate for my mom to be able to walk with her walker comfortably. He seems like a very friendly person. I wish the lady that took our order would have been a little more friendly and patient, but maybe she was just feeling overwhelmed by the amount of people ordering food. Other people in my party thought she was just plain rude. The food is authentic Mexican food. I had their Chile verde plate made with pork and green salsa. The Chile verde plate come with rice, beans and a salad. It was very tasty! I Just wish the portion was as generous as it was last time we were there for the recital. We walked in on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't so busy. Staff were setting up for a reunion happening later that evening so they had their hostess act as our waitress too. She was a sweet lady, I can't recall her name, but it was something sweet, like Shooting Star. (?) The food was delicious, I ordered the fried fish, it was served with beans, rice, and house salad. My husband ordered their tacos, my daughter had the shrimp ceviche. All fresh and tasty. Another favorite part was the warm salsa they served with chips as we waited for our food. The atmosphere was nice and serene. We sat in the back. If you listen closely, you can hear the ocean waves from 2 miles away. You can also hear the trickle of their water fountains that surround the back patio. The location is quaint, located at the far end of Wharf Street, a little ways from the hustle and bustle and crowded parking area of other establishments up the way. We definitely will be back, and hopefully our next visit will include an order of their famous tomahawk steak. :) read more

I came here with my husband because we wanted to try a new (to us) Mexican restaurant. We parked on the street, it's got a pretty strange vibe - kind of mid on the outside, but from the outside you can see the white tablecloths so I thought it would be upscale. Then I sat down and when I went to scoot my chair in, exposed nail points (or maybe staples? I have no idea, something sharp) pricked my fingers. It was all together confusing. I felt along the chair and found 3+ sharp bits on each side where I'd hold the chair to scoot it in or out. At the very end of my meal I mentioned this to my server, and she acted like it was a known thing to the staff. I'm still giving them a 4 star review because my food was great and I wasn't bleeding or anything. The complimentary chips were the firm kind with tons of crunch. My favorite. I ordered bacon wrapped shrimp and it was delicious, with juicy shrimp and a good amount of food. My husband got carne asada and I think it was a lot less meat than he would prefer but other than that he enjoyed it. They had live music on the night we were there, which made it difficult to converse with our server, but we managed. Overall I'd consider going back. But they really need to make the chairs safer (or at least that one chair). read more

Beautiful ambiance! Delicious food! Terrific service! I came here for a coworkers retirement party a few weeks ago and everyone was so happy with our meals and service. The outdoor dining patio was beautiful. Today I came back with my husband and again the food was delicious and the service excellent (I had the tropical ceviche and he the asada de Orozco plate). Star was our server and she was awesome!!! She also made our margaritas and they were soooo good! Guillermo the owner was very hospitable and friendly. We couldn't stop eating this . They definitely have the salsa down to a T! Fresh Margaritas definitely did not taste like it was made with fresh limes . Tasted like it was made with a premix . Okay, so I'm a little confused by this place. It has great potential, and the ambience is nice and somewhat dark making it a cool date spot. My first experience was very hit and miss. First, there was only one waitress, and though pleasant may have been overwhelmed. True, we had a big party, but we staggered in. We were the only new table of patrons. The only other table was paying their check. It took like 20 minutes to get our drinks Instead of carrying out a tray, she walked them out one drink in each hand. Hits: The tomahawk steak and ribeye steak platters were amazing in quantity and presentation. The chips they give you are homemade, warm, and salted perfectly. The table salsa they give you with your chips is perfectly balanced with spice and acidity. I could drink it. Ceviche looked great, as well. Misses: For listing wines, it only says "red", and "white". The tomahawk steak is $140. A steak like that at that price point deserves a wine list. No local beers on tap. We were told the steak fajitas were shareable, they're not. Fajitas were just okay. Corn tortillas fell apart immediately after first bite. Also...the drinks come out in plastic cups. Not very visually stimulating to have a $140 tomahawk steak with a margarita in a plastic cup behind it when you're wanting to share that on Instagram and impress people. Average price for a plate is around $30. I would definitely give this restaurant, another chance, for sure, and maybe try a couple of other items on the menu and see how they are. read more

We love this restaurant! Everything about it is amazing! The patio is gorgeous and you are so close to the ocean you can almost hear the waves. All the food that we have had is phenomenal. We especially love the garlic shrimp tacos and the guacamole. The guacamole is the very best guacamole anywhere it is fresh and chunky. I have been very disappointed when I've come and they were sold out. The owner Guillermo is one of the nicest people we have ever met. He really cares about his customers he treats us like family. Morning Star makes the best margaritas makes you want more and more. They are very dog friendly. We love love love this place. We arrived and stood waiting for 8 minutes while the waitress/hostess finished something. First impression was I'm not impressed with the inside. Then we got seated outside. Beautiful! Tom, the cat, was roaming around. Then we sat and waited. And waited. Anddd waited some more. The waitress finally came over for our drinks. We got waters and homemade horchata. We were so excited. Finally the waitress was running by to a larger table and acknowledged us. Finally we ordered. One chicken fajita and one combo steak/shrimp fajita, both with flour tortillas. The food took quite a while to come out. When it finally arrived, we were excited and starving! The chicken and the steak were charred, dry and had an awful salty seasoning on them. The rice was mushy and so watery. There was no sour cream or guacamole on the side. No salsa. We ordered flour tortillas with both and got flour and corn. Both Charred. We just wanted to leave. Waitress didn't ask how the food was. We asked for the check. Currently I'm still sitting here and seems she's disappeared with the credit card Overall, the atmosphere was a 10. Service was a zero. Food was a big fat ZERO. I will say that the owner came by at the end. He was a nice gentleman and apologized for the fight that had broken out there about 15 minutes earlier. We told him we were just waiting for our credit card back so he went and got it: He was very nice and apologetic. I really wanted to love this place! We were told to go there for a nice authentic dinner, we arrived there in a Saturday evening. There was probably one table with 10 individuals and no one else, we were greeted and offered indoors or outdoors, we picked outdoors. The setting was nice but since owner was not on the premises, they couldn't turn on the lights, the staff tried to bring us candles and a heater for lights. The watermelon margarita was weak and tasteless, I'm not one to complain, there was only (1) server and she did the best she can. We sat outdoors and had to use our cellphone flashlights to view the menu and music was on in dining room so we played our music from our phones for ambiance since we were the only ones outside. Food was actually tasty but very small portions especially the fajitas was not sizzling like you normally receive at any other Mexican restaurant. The server apologized but had no control because the owner was not there on the premises. Service was good, since it was my birthday, server offered me dessert which I accepted but returned later apologizing what she offered was not available after all. Ambiance was upsetting, no lights, ate in the dark, no music and lost the feeling of enjoying a nice evening. Food was probably 5 out of 10, ambiance 1 out 10 and service was 7 out of 10, as a single she tried. We did receive a discount but we will not being going there ever again. I got the orozco traditional cocktail. It comes with shrimp, abalone, and octopus. Tasted great and generously portioned! I believe it was $25.99, and worth every penny. The cucumber margarita is $13.99 and is delicious. It has freshly chopped cucumbers. Our server was one of the best I've had in a long time. This is a solid 5 or higher on food alone! The green michelada is a power punch to the pallet that will make you never want to have a regular one again. The mojarra was pumped with flavor a garlic sauce that hits every bit if you're taste buds and stays crispy on the outside and flakey on the inside!! Talking with the owner he even acknowledges his flaws and need to let the kids take care of the service but he just loves what he does and I can't judge that.
