Have no emergency service. We ordered a specific Fireplace. They put in a completely different unit from the one I ordered. They never mentioned that the one they were installing was not the one I ordered. Plus we had a defective thermostat. It has been months, still don't have it. Put in a Dehumidifier in the attic over the garage. Leaked down thru our garage ceiling, called them right away on the Sunday. They did not offer to come out until 4 days later. My husband who just went thru major surgery for his left shoulder had to go up into the attics and siphon the water out with my help. Had an independent contractor come out to inspect the unit today. Report was it had been installed incorrectly. Showed us a diagram showing the correct installation. Last winter when it was under 20 degrees our heater quit. It was freezing. Now we have only been in this house for a year and a half. Brand new house. Thank goodness our builder brought us a heater and we had one we used because Ortiz could not come out for two or more days. We have been telling them ever since we have been in this house that it is not cooling properly. All we get is excuses or offers for us to purchase something else. Our independent contractor advised us that the return subdues are to small for the amount of air needed for this house, so they installed the wrong size vents, which also caused the issue with the dehumidifier freezing up, it will cost us almost 3,000!to rectify the problems and make things work correctly. We paid for a two year maintenance program. They came to service our system and put new filters in. They apparently did not have the correct size so the cut one that still did not fit and said nothing to us. Their lack of response to the major leak was the last straw. Since we confirmed that our unit was installed incorrectly and other responses I do not recommend this company. read more

I recommend Ortiz Heating and Air in Burlingame. They recently installed 3 split-air units, to supplement our central system. It was a particularly challenging job, because two units are recessed into the attic, with very little attic space. The third unit serves the Kitchen, installed below in the garage, with short ducting runs under the cabinets. All the units are "Carrier" which apparently are only available to contractors, and are much higher quality than what is found online. The whole process was seamless, from estimating to installation. Alex, the owner, quickly assessed the situation, knew exactly how to solve our issues, had a clear vision for solutions, and showed us real-time photos on his iPad to give us an idea for aesthetics. The project started exactly the day it was scheduled, and work continued without interruption until complete. The crew was extremely qualified, polite, and respectful. Others have mentioned this, however Alex was extremely accessible via phone, text, and email. Communicating with me on weekends, night time, or whenever I needed something. I am happy to recommend Ortiz Heating and Air in Burlingame. Under a time crunch during the holidays Alex Ortiz came to my rescue. I knew he was an honest man who would give me an honest diagnosis for the heating problems in my rental duplex. His company repaired one furnace and tried to repair the other. They spent hours trying to get it fixed but I had to replace that furnace. The ducts were in very bad condition and he recommended the kind of ducts I should replace them with for longevity. He didn't charge me for the time spent trying to fix the one furnace and had his employees do other needed repairs such as wiring the thermostat correctly and fixing the way the old furnace had originally been installed incorrectly. He did this as a favor to me without ever having met me before. He is such a kind man and treated his employees with respect which really impressed me. His technicians were friendly, professional, and didn't mind explaining to me what they were doing. They left everything spotless too, vacuuming bits of debris. They loaned my tenants portable heaters until the repairs could be completed. They even made a special trip to deliver the heaters at night. My tenants are now warm and happy and I am so grateful to have lucked upon calling this company. The prices are very fair, especially considering the extras they did. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, even the office employees were wonderful. I didn't have to leave messages and hope for a phone call back. A few years ago we had a 98% efficient two-zoned heating system installed. One zone had never had heat so duct work and two more cold air returns were required. Our contractor had one company in mind and with our urging, he asked Ortiz to bid the job. Alex's bid was much better than the other company, and our contractor decided to give Ortiz Heating & Air Conditioning a try. The installation was impeccable. I'm reviewing now because we've had Alex come out to our house a few times for issues large and small. Within warranty the fan stopped working and therefore the system shut down. Brrrr. He was on it immediately. Another time he came out to do an in-service on with us on cleaning the reusable furnace filters and the individual returns. Yes, our cold air returns are also filtered. And once I broke the master thermostat and we needed a new one. Handled quickly and efficiently. No mess left behind. Everything as quoted. This last week I was having a problem getting the master thermostat to talk to the sensors downstairs. Downstairs is supposed to listen to me and for some reason it decided to be an independent contractor. Heated when it felt like it, and it didn't turn down as requested. Once again, I was scheduled within a week, and Alex was here inside of the one hour window given for his appointment. Finally, we stumped Alex. He tried a few things and downstairs didn't listen to him either. He had no problem calling his Carrier rep right here on the spot. He explained what was happening and together they found the issue. Boom. Fixed. Downstairs now listens to Mama. This company does exactly what's needed, for fair value. I always appreciate great work initially but moreover Ortiz treats our home and all the follow-up visits as though being an "Ortiz home" means something. He doesn't leave us stranded because the big sale is complete. Last, in the days of Covid, Alex was masked and careful to stay back from my husband and me. He asked me to touch door knobs where needed so as not to needlessly cross contaminate. He's no longer having his crew meet up at their shop. Alex Ortiz and his crew did a fantastic job on our installation. They installed a large unit in our living room and a smaller one in our bedroom. They installed the outside unit on the side of the house, and ran lines through our attic. It took their crew of three all of a day to install the units, and another day to run the lines and seal up the entry points on the outside of the house. We were in the house the whole time, and they were so quiet, courteous and respectful that even our anxious dog didn't mind them. They even made friends. I needed 2 new heaters, duct work and finally Air Con-- thank you Global warming. Ugh. I was given a time line, start dates, finish date and all the process in between. At precisely 8:30 on the Monday they started two brand new spotless trucks showed up with two installers- also in clean uniforms and smiles on their faces. Not my usual experience. So you get the picture. I am a happy customer. I got to know both workers over the course of the week and really enjoyed them both. There were some questions along the way and these guys never felt upset by my inquiries. Long story short-everything was done on time on spec including the permit process as promised. They even found one install error on the original Installation when the house was built. Asked me if I wanted it changed while they were there. From early on we had nothing but problems with grinding noises, the air conditioner stopped all together, or not cooling the house. The owner, Alex Ortiz sent out a number of people to repair it. After several years, he stopped returning my calls. I hired ECO Air Conditioning to see if they could fix the problem. They did! It turns out the pump under the house and connecting pipe was not installed properly. My recollection is that no one from Ortiz HVAC went under the house to fix the problem. I sent the ECO INVOICE FOR $1200 to Alex to see if we could agree on resolution. I got no response to my two emails to Alex. I had my furnace replaced in early December last year and my thermostat stopped working two weeks ago with no heat in the house. Called and managed to secure a weekend emergency service but the technician found out it was still blowing clod air after new thermostat installation. He found the solenoid valve was malfunctioning but after ensuring it was still under warranty, got the parts and Alex personally guaranteed replacement visit only two days later.
