I'm usually not a huge fan of sushi, but every dish here was phenomenal. You truly can't go wrong.

We had an incredible meal at Osaka. From the amuse bouche to the cocktails to the service we were delighted at every turn! Every bite was thoughtful and whimsical. I felt transported to somewhere I've never been and wanted more of every dish. Our server Anna Maria brought a jovial spirit and level of detail that made the entire experience feel truly special. Osaka is currently, hands-down, my favorite restaurant in Miami. Where do I start?! I was literally blown away the first time I ever tried this restaurant, so much so that I returned the very next day to continue trying items on the menu. This overview summarizes Osaka perfectly -- "A multi-sensory journey in every bite. A blend of the millenary precision of Japanese techniques with the textures, flavors and colors of Peruvian cuisine, creating a fascinating progression of flavors, textures, colors, smells and sounds" Every dish has been delicious but I was blown away and always order the Tuna Foie, Carpassion, Katsu. The Mariscos Al Fuego gets an honorable mention. The cocktails are delicious, and I would highly recommend the green tea cha. There are a few seating options to choose from: Main dining room, Terrace, sushi counter, lounge/bar. I personally enjoy the bar/lounge area, but I'm sure you'll be happy with sitting anywhere is this beautiful restaurant. I would describe the vibe as sophisticated. Finding street parking can be tricky in this area, so I highly recommend you plan to valet or Uber if you live near by. Yes, Osaka is pricey, but it is an experience that as well worth it. read more

Great overall experience. Server was fantastic and helpful with the menu. Very attentive and courteous. The ambiance was as expected for a high end restaurant. Busy with most tables being full. On to the food... Otoshi - Nice way to start the meal off and this little sample of salmon which was really fresh. Tuna Tataki - Amazing and probably the best item we ate. It was probably the main dish that highlighted the Japanese/ Peruvian fusion. It was fresh, a little spicy, and very savory. Wasabi Ceviche - The quality of the fish and scallop was good but overall thought it was too acidic and was expecting it to have more of a wasabi kick to it. Would pass on this next time. Veggie Ponzu - Loved this dish. A unique blend of veggies and executed well. I would order this again. The Sunchokes were a mystery veggie in this dish. Never had it before and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would order this again. Anticucho Octopus - Really liked this dish. Octopus is a favorite. Not the best octopus I've had But I'd order it again. Would have done well with a sauce on the side or some more chilies on top. American Wagyu - This was just okay but was expecting more. The accompanied sauces and crispy potatoes were great. The potato's were actually one of the stars of the meal and ultra crispy and different from what you'd expect. The beef itself was fine but I don't think our stone was hot enough because the meat just didn't char or sizzle. Coco Matcha Cake - This was an insane dessert. Every bite melted in your mouth. The lava cake combo w the ice cream was on point. The raspberry and matcha dust actually put it over the top. This dessert deserves a trophy. Came here for dinner and had a nice meal. I'd been wanting to try nikkei cuisine and was happy to find a restaurant in my neighborhood. The Hotate Parma (hokkaido scallops, aji panca curry, Grana Padano, lime) from their summer menu was delicious and beautifully presented. We also loved the duck in the Pato Mochero (crispy moulard duck leg, wok rice, shiitake, smoked pork, curuba honey). But the other dishes we tried were average or a little below. The Osk (tuna) ceviche was good but definitely more of a poké as there wasn't an acidic component. The Nikkei makimono was underwhelming and lacked flavor. Our waiter told us they were known for their nigiris so we decided to try the Katsu (salmon belly, lemon zest, white truffle oil) and it was not worth the $16 for two pieces. A redeeming factor was their cocktails (albeit at Brickell prices). The sencha granite of the Honey Cha was super refreshing. My fiancé got one of the AKA Sour which was also solid. For dessert, the miso toffee crumble was deconstructed and satisfying. All in all, the food was pretty good but not good enough for the $100 per person price tag. read more

We decided to try this restaurant and given the fact that I am Peruvian and it was my wife's birthday. The location is really nice in the center of Brickell. The restaurant is awesome, nice update music at the right level create a nice atmosphere for dining experience. We are greeted up on entering the restaurant with a nice smile and proceeded to be lead to our table. Our waiter was nice and polite, but nothing that he did enhance her experience. He was not intrusive, and he took the order properly, but having a full and flat personality didn't enhance the experience. We received an Amuse-Bouche of spicy tuna with Peruvian potato at the bottom, which was delicious. The sushi roll with acevichado sauce was nothing special from any other similar role in Miami. The causa tastes delicious, right amount of spice but it was drowned in the same acevichado sauce, which is poured table side to add some flair to the dish, but it ends up drowning the cause making the flavors unbalanced with way too much acid. The tuna and octopus garnishing the dish were delicious, the dish is served in a very unique bowl. The octopus with anticucho sauce were cooked very nicely, soft but almost too soft. They were supposed to be grilled and they were just mushy with no texture, it could have been shrimp or even chicken since you only taste the sauce. Presentation of this dish was nice and also unique (see photo), but I did not enjoy it I wouldn't order it again. The pisco and cocoa ribs were outstanding. Tender and falling off the bone in a thick and flavorful sauce. The true showstopper is the rocoto tiradito with fish and a bright red leche de tigre that ties the dish together. I would return to Osaka entirely on this dish. Overall the meal had highs and lows. I would be willing to return and try other tiraditos and fish dishes. read more

This place is pricey and portions are tiny! It was $400++ for dinner and drinks for 2. While food was good, considering the portions and pricing it should have been phenomenal. Most of the menu consist of portion where they bring out one piece of sushi per person. I really enjoyed the Kobe beef you cook yourself on rocks as well as the crab tacos. Ceviche was just okay, I would skip it. I loved the honey cha drink, definitely get that if you go! I did not like the unisex sink area in the bathroom. Women want to adjust their makeup and outfits and want privacy to do this, very weird and awkward to be next to men sharing the only sinks and mirror available. While it was nice to try one time, I don't like to leave somewhere hungry after spending $400 so I probably won't be back. read more

Highly recommend trusting your waiter. Service is outstanding. Our waiter expertly guided us through their menu, both food and drinks. Our waiter was a big part of our exceptional experience. For drinks, we loved the ARASHI KURO signature cocktail. It's complex and wonderful. The HONEY CHA was enjoyable, just not the same level. We enjoyed five dishes: 1. Carpassion - salmon (lightly cooked) carpaccio with passionfruit, wow this is tasty and great way to start, would go back just for this dish 2. Crispy Quinoa - makimono roll, enjoyed this but would skip next time as it's similar to gourmet rolls elsewhere 3. Hotate Truffle - signature, exceptional, highly recommend, seared at the table which is quite fun 4. Tuna Foie - small, rich in flavor. Also seared at the table. 5. United Meshi - their version of paella. Hearty with incredible flavor, esp the scallop. 3 Stars not because the food was bad or service I just did not really like it very much. We ordered a lot of items from the menu and none really impressed me. Everything we ordered was very sweet. We started with the carpassion which was good but very passion fruity. The crispy quinoa sushi roll was okay, the quinoa was very hard. The Nikkei role was better and a good roll to start with. The turbo shrimp was fried shrimp is a sweet sauce and it was good but not good enough to order again. The scallop nigiri was the best thing we ordered. The vegetables were good but nothing special and the ribs were very sweet. The sea bass was actually pretty good just had a lot of butter on it. All the fish seemed fresh and was good and I think we just ordered the wrong things for our pallet. read more

Harrison and Alex. Lifesavers. Came here for the first time and sat at the bar. The food and drink recommendations made by Harrison and Alex hit the spot. They know what they're doing, which is so refreshing. I feel like a lot of Miami restaurants bar seating lacks service and quality. Osaka surpassed my expectations because of the service from these guys. I recommend and would probably give my left ear for the sea bass, the pato mochero, and the miso toffee crumble. This is one of the best restaurants I have been to! I had high expectations for Osaka and they surpassed them. Vibes. Vibes. Vibes. Perfect spot for a date + girls night out. FYI - A reserveraton is a must here! We started our night with the Clasico Ceviche and Tuna Tartar with Aji Amarillo Sauce. Both were very good and paired nicely with the Rosé our waiter recommended. I have to mention our waiter was very helpful, thoroughly went through the menu for us and recommended amazing dishes! Then came the Tuna Foie. This. Dish. The duck liver is seared right at the table and it literally melts in your mouth. This dish has gone down as one of my favorites - you cannot go to Osaka and not try this! I just wish for the price you'd get another piece or two but the quality of this dish is 100. As a main course we got the Niki Kabayaki American Wagyu Steak, which you get to cook yourself on a hot stone. This comes with fried potatoes and a delish dipping sauce. We also got the Umi Mechi Seafood Skillet Rice. This dish was generous - it came loaded with shrimp, maduros (sweet plantain), scallops, octopus and charred avocado. This is a good dish to share if you want to try multiple smaller dishes! We finished off with the Cacao Matcha dessert. Very decadent, but the Green Tea Ice Cream on top tones down the richness of the chocolate. read more

Every Valentine's my wife and I like to go out and try new trendy restaurants around Miami. So we heard about a new cool Peruvian and Japanese fusion eatery called Osaka. Located in the Miami version of Manhattan called Brickell, you will find this cool slick restaurant. With cool lounge music playing in the back, Osaka also has a very cozy atmosphere especially for a date night. As I mentioned prior the menu here is Peruvian Japanese fusion so we ordered a sample of items that fully embrace that combination. First off we ordered the wasabi fish and scallop ceviche which was amazing very fresh with the wasabi giving an extra kick. The sliced ahi tuna tirato was also very tasty, the yellow sauce reminded me of the Peruvian yellow pepper used in many dishes. The next item to arrive was the chirashi causa which is their version of stuffed yellow potato topped with fresh tuna and crab salad, one of the best causa we had in a while especially the texture. The octopus anticucho was well seasoned and very tender, while the flaming scallops were good but too expensive for the two shells that were served. To round out our meal we decided to order three sushi dishes, the Inca nigiri (tuna), the Nikkei (roll with salmon and white fish) and Nori Furai ( salmon, shrimp, and avocado). All the sushi were very fresh with my favorite being the Inca and Nikkei for giving a leche de Tigre after taste. For dessert we ordered the suspiro Nikkei which was a fancy version of the Peruvian dessert with dulce de leche and chocolate crumbles. After all these great and innovative dishes the dessert fell short in taste, but get high mark for the presentation. Another Japanese/Asian cuisine popping up in this hot area of Brickell, this one is Japanese-Peruvian to be exact! Dim lighting, lot of wood, outdoor patio and indoor dining as well as private room for parties! We ordered a bit of everything. All sushi was ok. Tiny sliced compare to Zuma and Novikov nearby. It's hard to see this one compete with the others! Nothing memorable, their plating missed the mark, I was looking forward to this visit but it fell short. Unfortunately the best thing we are was the steak over hot rock! Go figure! They have a lot of room for improvement unless they open to serve only the top 0.01% of population. They need to come back to reality just a tiny bit! The food is pricey compare to the portion/quality you get in this part of town. Cocktail was solid. Service by Francisco was perfect. Manager Ivanka was super sweet! No corkage fee allowed. Their wine list is ridiculously HIGH MARK UP! I know it's freaking Miami but being in food and wine business, I was shocked for a place just opened and tried to make a name for themselves. Imagine Napa wine 400-500% mark up! STICK to cocktail for a better bet! Dinner for 3 of us was almost $500 (20% tip automatically added here. Very common in Miami). I do not see myself return, there's so many options in town and we are bicoastal couple, we come to Miami 9-15 times a year for business. We become regular at Brickell hot restaurants. Osaka, the best sushi experience you can find in Miami, hails from Peru, and is the prime example of Nikkei cuisine - which combines typical Peruvian ingredients with Japanese techniques. Not only are the inside and outside ambiances incredible but the staff will truly make you feel like you are home. After hearing lots of hype about the food here, I recently came and sat/ate at the bar. We got three different dishes and while they were all 'good', I can't say I was blown away. Also, to be clear, this is not 'Japanese' cuisine (as the top banner image on this page indicates), as much as it is a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian. All the dishes we had seemed to have multiple layers of flavorings, such that the dishes/food was not exactly 'light' or 'clean' (as one might experience at a restaurant offering pure Japanese cuisine, such as unembellished sushi or sashimi). From what I saw, sitting at the bar, and while enjoying one of their cocktails, the greater(?) stars of Osaka seem to be the folks who work behind the bar. They were consummate pros, clearly very experienced and dedicated to their craft and art. Considering the price of the food vs my experience of the dishes/flavorings, I'm not sure I'd return... I'm much more a fan of pure Japanese cuisine. read more
