The most tasteless sushi I have ever had. I've enjoyed grocery store sushi more than this. It starts with the rice, their rice is mushy and horrible. Their menu lies (says all sashimi comes with three pieces, and it doesn't), there is no ambiance/music playing, they are packing orders in the middle of the restaurant which is awkward. I was so excited to find a sushi place on my way home from work and it was a fail. The Tobiko sashimi was supposed to come with 3 pieces only came with 2 - also had a choice of colors (flavors) but didn't get the ones I asked for. All of their pictures are from shutterstock! Have been here in the past for take out Sushi and have not been disappointed. To try something different, I ordered the Thai Coconut curry chicken and when I got home and saw how disgusting it was, especially the chicken, which I couldn't even tell was chicken because it was heavily breaded and I don't think it was cooked, I had to take action. So I took out the vegetables, rinsed them off, threw everything else out, made my own chicken and stir fried everything together with a sauce that I made that was actually tasty, unlike the "sauce" this dish came in. $16.75 down the drain. I agree with reviewer Dj M who also hated this dish. I also ordered fried gyoza, which looked steamed, kind of bland. read more

Ordered a few rolls for takeout this past Saturday - the California Roll, the Mango Tuna Special Roll and the Red Lion Special Roll. Everything was nicely prepared and it all tasted fresh and perfectly fine to me. I am not a sushi connoisseur by any means though. I do really wish the owners would take much more pride in the appearance of this restaurant. I do not think the place is dirty, per say, but the disorganization and deterioration may lead some to believe that is the case. There are not a lot of options in this small town and by investing some money into making the interior of this place very aesthetically pleasing, they could actually have a gold mine on their hands. read more

We ordered teriyaki chicken to go, along with a pint of Tom Yum soup. This came to $28.41. The teriyaki chicken had no flavor and was a very small amount of chicken. The sauce wasn't even brown, vegetables were few and barely heated. The rice was ok, but again a minuscule quantity. There was miso soup included, approximately a cup, nothing worth talking about. The Tom Yum soup was tasty, $7.55 for a pint. Composed of a very spicy broth, mostly carrots, green squash and broccoli, it had two snow pea pods, two shrimp and what might have been very thinly sliced chicken. I've had sushi from this restaurant as well, very overpriced, but of reasonable quality. Even though I live in town, after this expensive debacle I doubt I'll return, just not enough value for money spent. read more

$7.75 for a soup? We just got take out from here. The teriyaki came straight from a bottle. It tasted like corn syrup. No flavor. For $18.75. Came with a very standard miso soup and rice. We have had sushi from here several times, it's acceptable, not the greatest quality fish but ok. This meal however was bad enough that we won't go there anymore. Teriyaki is supposed to be grilled with a yummy sticky sauce. This is not that. So much for Japanese food in Clinton. read more

Same for the Summer Role a bland wrap with wilted rotting lettuce little more than a vehicle for the plum sauce. The value for your dollar is not there. A place to be avoided. read more

You wouldn't expect a small town in rural New Jersey to have good sushi... and you'd be right. Easily the worst sushi I've had. The dynamite roll was sloppy, loosely packed, and fell apart when trying to pick it up with chopsticks or fingers. The bomb was slightly better, as it was at least rolled well, but the fish did not taste fresh at all. This may be the first time I've ever not finished a roll. If you find yourself in the Clinton, NJ area and are in DIRE need of sushi, check the ShopRite first. read more

The place was dirty...the floors were sticky there's a fly trap right by the bathroom and it's just a mess stacked boxes everywhere with only two tables to dine in. They still have Valentine's Day decorations up on the windows in June so they just obviously don't care about appearances...the food was just alright. I ordered the salmon nigiri and couldn't even bite through it. It was too chewy. Also everything was served to us on paper plates and plastic containers for soy sauce. Overall food is good for the area, the service is beyond lacking. This has become a common trend that I am not willing to accept anymore even in these COVID times. While we are all doing our best, telling me an hour is OK. But then taking my money at pick up and telling me it will be another twenty minutes when it is OVER AN HOUR, is just downright unacceptable. Wow. What a great experience! My boyfriend and I had just gotten off work and he was hungry so decided to go get some dinner. While we were driving home on 22 from Somerville we stopped at a pizza place. While we were looking at a menu a man came out and told us they were closed. When we got in the car we noticed that it was only 8:54 and they closed at 9. When we got to Neo Sushi we were greeted my a very friendly woman. My boyfriend decided instantly on the Double Honey roll which consisted of jalapeños, spicy tuna, spicy salmon and cilantro on top. I on the other hand needed to use the restroom. While I was in there my boyfriend, who is quite the conversationalist, was talking to the owner who greeted us and she told him that they were going to close early at 9 for Columbus Day, but they saw us pull up (at 9:05, after they were going to close) and decided to stay open. What a different experience from the first! I came out of the restroom and decided to get miso soup. The lady also said that they would just make us whatever we wanted as long as they had the ingredients, so I asked for a mango avocado hand roll because I had already eaten a small meal on my late break. While we were waiting for them to make our food (a VERY short wait for how well it was made!) we turned around and noticed they had Japanese soda! One of my favorite things! Once our food was made we thanked them and left. When we got home and opened our food we were very pleased with how it looked. My boyfriend took a bite of his roll and remarked how the roll really did seem to melt in your mouth like one of the other reviews said! I don't understand how a sushi roll could melt in your mouth but he swore it did. I didn't try any because I don't like spicy food. We loved our experience and coming from a woman who is half Japanese and has grown up eating this cuisine the food was very good was well! We will be back! read more

This place is crazily overrated. We arrived for dinner on a Sunday and the restaurant was literally empty - no customers, and no staff anywhere. After a few minutes, someone came out and seated us. Bellowing over the loud music AND the TV that were playing, we ordered a tuna roll, vegetable dumplings, curry coconut chicken and shrimp udon soup. I was presented with a soda that was somehow watered down beyond recognition. The veggie dumplings were recognizable as the ones you can get in a giant bag at the grocery store. The tuna roll was honestly the best part of the whole affair - it was fresh and fairly flavorful. My boyfriend said his entree was pretty good, but I didn't taste it so I can't speak to that. My shrimp udon was completely tasteless. The shrimp were just steamed and rubbery, and the broth had no seasoning whatsoever. I had to dump soy sauce in it. The noodles were fine, but the veggies were completely raw and tasted a bit like kindling. Not a total disappointment, but definitely not how I wanted to spend my fifty bucks. read more
