I feel this place has gone a little downhill. I still enjoy the lunch special but it's definitely smaller servings and the service is OK but they could use some extra help. If you're not doing the hibachi, you're pretty much ignored and have to ask for anything you need. The food is still OK and the lunch deal is still a great special but honestly, the sushi is where it's at. It's really good. It's very affordable and I always enjoy the sushi. From now on I think I'll stick with that when I go here.

The lunch sets are reasonably priced especially on the weekend. $12.50 for salmon. I asked if the lunch sets includes the hot green tea. The waitress said it is only for dinner. I said I only want it if it's complimentary. My husband ordered the steak and scallop (dinner). The waitress reiterated that the hot green tea is only for dinner. We asked her if my husband's order was dinner. We ended with a small pot of hot tea for both of us and were charged for it ($2.50). Did not get any refills. The tea was lukewarm and was just enough for four small teacups. Everyone was waiting around for our check after we were done eating and the ice cream was not served. Our waitress only informed us that the dinner came with ice cream after she came back with the check and our card.

This was our first time to visit Osaka since they first opened. We were happy with the service from our waiter and impressed how huge this place is! We were there on a Friday evening and the wait was was not long! Our cook was Sebastian and he was entertaining and engaged with the customers. The food he prepared was seasoned well and done to perfection. I had Hibachi Shrimp, really tasty and my wife had Hibachi Lobster. It was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. No fishy smell like some other places we have visited. We will definitely visit again soon and recommend this restaurant. The Hibachi menu includes your choice of protein but also includes salad, soup, fried rice, vegetables with bean sprouts. No noodles like other Hibachi style. Choice of ice cream flavors. We had hot saki with our dinner!

I used to frequent Osaka for the hibachi, but I have recently stopped visiting because of the service. I ordered the Osaka Favorite to go which is filet mignon and lobster. However, the "lobster" I received was shrimp. I know they usually provide shrimp in addition to what is ordered, but I received mostly shrimp and very little lobster. I called to have the issue rectified and was told that I apparently didn't know the difference between the two. I decided to stop eating here due to this. The food is consistently good and well prepared. I LOVE the fried rice, but I would recommend dining in and eating at the hibachi grill so that you're able to see what you've ordered being cooked. The photo attached is from a previous visit, not the mistaken order.

My husband and I were attending his friend's birthday dinner. The inside is very nice and the set up around the grill was nice and cozy. You are able to see all of the tricks with the food without the view being obscured. The service was excellent. Our waiter was very efficient and helpful. The food was all delicious. They brought us a small salad with a house dressing that was sweet with ginger in it that was pleasing. They also had a sort of broth soup with mushrooms and onions that was good. Then came the main course that is prepared in front of you. After we ate (we all needed to go containers) they brought dessert! You had your choice of vanilla, chocolate or strawberry ice cream. They really take care of their guests. This was my first time and I will be going back again.

I had never been to a restaurant where they cook in front of you but over all the food was great with excellent seasoning and sauces for everything! As well as our chef or what not was amazing and kept our group laughing the whole time! And the lava sushi was delicious!

We brought our grandkids ages 3 and 6, they loved the food, the service and the chef! Great fun and the ice cream at the end was perfect!

Have eaten here 4-5 times at the Hibachi and each and every time was delicious and fun. Great Hibachi Chefs and more than enough food.

When a…read morewaiter/waitress takes my order & asks about spice level, I usually "play it safe" & go to a 3 (their scale was 1-5... spice level 3 was subtle). Speaking of flavor, I'm sure the special blended soy sauce played a major part. On top of that, there's chili sauce at the table & that right there has a Shawn Michaels super kick to it. With the bowl being full of chicken along with the other components like fish cake, seaweed, bamboo shoots, green onion & a soft boiled egg (that's also flavored)... it's not even an overload. It's flavor on top of flavor on top of flavor. I couldn't even finish it & took it to-go. My waitress was super nice & the wait on my food didn't take long (they had a mini lunch rush when I got here). Outside of ramen, there's so much to choose from. Whether you're in the mood for ramen, sushi, bowls, etc... this is your spot. I was having a headache & really needed some food to help get rid of it (I was also in the area). Ramen usually does the trick & it prevailed as I started feeling better. Oishi came in the clutch.

I wanted to get a good sampling of what the restaurant had to offer so I got the spicy miso ramen with the grilled chicken and then sampled the sushi by getting an order of salmon sashimi. Both dishes were very good and there was much more grilled chicken with the ramen than I was expecting, so that was a nice surprise! The prices were reasonable as well. Overall, I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and would certainly come back. 4/5

The chef and wait staff friendly and always a pleasure. However, the last take out order was not up to par for what we have always experienced with MoJ. We very frequently order the same thing: Sushi Regular and Shrimp Fried Rice, so this was not like a one-off. My husband said the shrimp was hard and when I plated it, it smelled like rancid oil. My sushi had cloudy salmon roe that I have never seen before, and my husband said the tuna tasted very fishy, and he could not eat it. The surf clam piece was chewy and when fresh, it is not chewy. I wish I had taken pictures but nothing _looked_ bad except for the salmon roe. Aside from the decline in quality, the wait staff is mostly new and not friendly. This will affect the ambience. I'm not concerned about decor. That can change. But with unfriendly staff, I am not inclined to dine in to see what else has changed. One guy was abrupt to my husband during a phone call. He said the guy had "a tone." This is not New York where no one should be offended by locals' rapid-fire conversations. This is Oklahoma where people are supposed to be more polite and patient, especially wait staff. While it may seem that I'm being overly critical, please bear in mind that after 20 years of consistent quality, suddenly we get poor quality and unhappy staff. I don't know if ownership has changed or if the previous owner has turned operations over to someone else, but I cannot give MoJ 5 stars anymore.

When going to Memories of Japan, I would recommend getting the Tulsa Fried Bean Curd appetizer (fried tofu). The soft tofu is coated with a thin layer of batter and is then deep fried. The end product is a crunchy coat and super soft silky tofu inside. This fried tofu dish is very different to any other fried tofu elsewhere and it was delicious. The sauce that came with the dish was bland and lacked flavors. The sushi at Memories of Japan were good. The special rolls, Alaska and Florida roll, were $8.95 each. Let me tell you, I haven't seen specialty rolls this cheap. Of course, there are more expensive rolls on the menu. In terms of sushi, Sushi Hana is better and so is Oishi. I liked the decorations inside the restaurant. Nothing extravagant but they made the place look more oriental. Service was excellent. I would say if you are looking for the best sushi, Memories of Japan is not that place. Go to Sushi Hana for that. If you want good sushi that does not cost you an arm or a leg, then you come to the right place. 4 stars plus an extra star for affordability factor.
