Despite it being one of the arguably top 2 breakfast outposts in Durango, I found it average to below average overall. I've never seen an "omelette" like this. The cook cooked the eggs and forgot to insert the ingredients into them, instead, dumping a heap of the ingredients inside an already-cooked egg "pancake" as an afterthought. The only thing that made its way into the "omelette" was the cheese. The cheese was a less than interesting cheddar. It's probably less work and quicker this way, instead of having to carefully oversee the omelette and watch the timing of ingredient insertion. The toast was ordinary. The orange juice? Store bought average quality. The seating arrangement at the bar is unacceptable, with the distance between the stools laughable. I had friendly elderly on both sides of me with their elbows in my face. Imagine if Spirit airlines created a diner in its planes. That's just how close the stools are together. While I suspect that real butter is used in the toast I fear that the kitchen--not unlike diners of this ilk--likely uses very unhealthy canola oil. I wish that these places would use butter or avocado/oil and just charge a little extra. There exists a wide-open, high end, quality breakfast niche in Durango awaiting fulfillment. read more

I would not recommend this place. It's a cute cafe but they have a real fly issue. The chile verde that is their signature dish is okay, but nothing to write home about. I also got a patty melt and unfortunately I would rank it high on my list of worst burgers I have ever had. We were looking for a breakfast place in Durango and the first one had rude customer service, the second was too crowded, and this was the 3rd place. We got lucky. We checked in with Yelp and our table was ready when we got there. Our server was great and kept our drinks checked on. My husband had the Verde Bowl and he loved it. Since we arrived when they opened we were seated immediately but I hear lines can get long. I had the Farmer's Breakfast which included eggs, hash browns, sausage, bacon and pancakes. I gave the bacon to my husband to round out his breakfast of eggs, hash browns and toast. So pretty classic diner fare. Busy even on week days. Don't let the strip mall location fool you, this is as authentic an American diner as you'll find. Neon, ruby red vinyl, local Americana, and a complete collection of local Snowdown posters going back at least as far as 1980. A VERY small and tight place, but run extremely efficiently. Food was good and service was good. This restaurant gets good ratings so we tried it for breakfast. My husband had the bacon and eggs and I had the bacon and avocado omelette. Both were tasty and filling. Neither of us cared for the hash browns. We asked for them crispy but they were a bit dry. Pretty sure they make their own and they leave the skins on making them a little bitter. The omelette had a ton of bacon and at least a half of avocado inside. Frustrating experience. They're clearly very popular, and even though we used the remote check in option and arrived on time, we had to wait an additional 40 minutes. The poor souls seated outside were treated to dozens of people milling around them, staring at their food, and attempting to make unwelcome conversation. When we were finally seated, we were LITERALLY seated in front of the restrooms in a table that never should have existed (see the photo). There was 1.5 feet of space to pass through between our table to the wall, and our entire meal was accompanied by people standing by our table, commenting on our food, and bumping our plates. One person, while waiting to use the bathroom, actually asked us what we did to earn such a bad table. Toilet flushes, toilet smells, toilet noises, all throughout our meal. Why didn't I complain? Because my family would be back out in the rain waiting for another table, and some other family would be stuck at this miserable table. And it would only hurt the servers, who aren't the ones who decided to put a table here. No quality of food would make up for the lousy experience. That being said, the food was FINE. I've eaten at hundreds of popular diners over my life and the food was as good as any. But nothing truly exceptional. I got the verde plate, with 2 scrambled eggs, hash browns, green chili sauce, and a tortilla on the side. They smothered it, which made the hashbrowns soggy. The green chili sauce was quite good, and could hold its own as a stew. The tortilla was ok, but probably not homemade. The kids' pancakes were fluffy and unremarkable. Bottom line, management has a serious issue with experience. Our table shouldn't exist, the outside tables shouldn't exist, and the way they manage their wait-list is truly broken. The food is passable. The decor, while cute, looks like 1000 other diners out there and was invisible from our toilet-centric vantage point. Vote with your feet and pick a more accessible spot. read more

Unfortunately, they have gone to a online sign in Which we obey by but the process seems to get us no better seats. A friend and I decided to pop into this little gem of a place. I had eaten here years ago and remembered that the food was excellent. So had to try it again. I had their Uncle Rueben sandwich. I highly recommend it! One of the best I have had in a while. Our server Shane was on it and we now have a local nickname there of "Grill my junk". Haha. Will be going back for sure. We weren't sure about the place when we walked in. But we got a parking spot right in front of the door, and a table for 6 was empty and waiting for our party of 5. The waitress was friendly and helpful. I didn't want hash browns, but the only substitution was sliced tomatoes. No grits. Not in the south anymore. We all ordered different items: chilli relleno with beans and eggs and toppings (nephew said the relleno was too doughy, but he didn't have room to finish it), egg over hard with grits & sausage (little niece who ate all but hash browns), biscuit and gravy with eggs, bacon, sausage, & hash browns (husband ate everything, but half the biscuit - loved getting full), Denver omelet with hash browns (Mama niece - hash browns were just okay, and little niece & I concurred), & my egg over easy came with English muffin and hash browns (loved it all except for hash browns). This place was busy! Someone was always waiting for a table - coming and going didn't stop in the 30 minutes we were inside. Looking for a different place for breakfast before we leave. Oscar came recommended by some locals - so off we go for a brisk walk. When we get here there are 2 couples ahead of us. No problem, a short wait and we managed to get a table, although there was seating at the counter. Food ordered, Denver with Oscar' Famous Hash Browns, County Road 203 Omelet with hash browns, 1 coffee & 1 hot chocolate. Drinks arrived, watered down coffee???? Thought it was an anomaly, but subsequent cups were equally diluted. Probably the best profit margin in the house and it's watered down? Hot chocolate equally watery. Food was meh, average and the famous hash browns should not have been. Disappointing to say the least. We'll pass this one up next time maybe you should too! read more
