This is a cool brewery up on the hill. They have a really nice patio setup. Kinda of cool they have isolated tables for dogs that might not be as friendly. The inside is sparse, but still nice. I had to try their Oktoberfest, which was pretty good. Next we ordered the Greek salad. We were so hungry I forgot to take a photo. The salad was anything special, really didn't have much in the way of flavor. Finally we ordered a works pizza. It was actually pretty good. read more

We were staying at the hotel just down the road. We decided to try something close by and we could pick up and bring back to the hotel. We had the jerk wings and the Prosciutto and pineapple pizza. I absolutely love this place! It has always been my favorite snack spot being connected to Ska. But it is a big plus for Ska which has been my go to for beers over the past ten years. So.. definitely get a pizza, wings and if you want the salad. That's what I got. Most Def get the Jerk Wings!! The lightly burnt edges with that savory sauce!!!! Super messy but daaayum that sauce I couldn't get enough. It comes with a side blue cheese, chunky/yummy dressing. FYI I AM NOT A FAN OF RANCH. Lots of napkins! The Works Pizza with Marinara, Sausage, Pepperoni, Mushrooms, Quattro-formaggio, Peppers, Onions, and Kalamata Olives. Mmmmmmmm I think brick oven pizza makes any pizza great! But this time I have to give props to the mushroom, meat and olive combo. Different tangs and tings but definitely had that spicy Italian kick. The WORST meal I've had in a while, traveling from Moab to Taos. Drizzly evening, want something quick and nearby and this fit the bill, as we could walk to the spot from the hotel. This pizza place really is housed in a few shipping containers that have been artfully (good infrastructure) combined to make a pizza café. The Container shares the premises with SKAA brewing (beer), of which well ... I don't drink beer. So I can't tell you about that, what I can tell you is that the yeast that is an output of the beer brewing is used to make the pizza dough. Once you eat this pizza dough all other pizza dough pales in comparison, I know because it's now happened to me. You submit your order at the counter and it's delivered to your table when ready. At that same time you let the order taker (what?) know if you'll have drinks (water for us). The silverware and napkins are off to the side, opposite the order counter. When ordering you can see the chef(s) putting pizzas together. I have to say that (1) the order taker was not very friendly, and a bit short in her words --- maybe it'd been a long day so I gave her the doubt and a wide berth (2) it's noisy in the building, with hard floors, lots of metal and glass (walls, ceiling). There were many tables to sit inside, but we chose outside on the "back" patio. This is a cool patio, with a very unusual pergola. With the patio umbrellas we were out of the mist, and we could enjoy the cool weather (we're not in 100* Texas anymore), admire the plantings, visit, and of course people watch. We did witness the almost lackadaisical watchfulness parents had for their children running around and playing. A young girl (not yet walking) was on the patio and kept picking up little pebbles and putting them in her mouth. I though should I say something, or is this like 'grit' for her belly? Grateful that her mother remembered the baby, I didn't have to be accused of being nosey or bossy (thankful0). Pizzas arrived, and they were great. We each ate a slice more than half of each our pizzas, and unfortunately we left the remainder (road trip). I had the veggie and the husband had ... you guessed it the one with like 25 different (I exaggerate) meats with olives and 'shrooms. The one negative about the pizza was that the pizza (not the dough) ingredients were mostly in the middle of the pie kinda like when two of you of you sleep in a bed with a deep dip in the middle. Yeah, it was like that. But still, it was good. If we could marry the dough from The Container with the ingredients from Mellow Mushroom (in Mansfield, TX) then there'd be a super winning combination. Cleaning up steps are: you bring your stuff to the clean up station ... there's one inside as well as outside. Bins for trash, dishes and cutlery as well as cups. Adios, all done. read more

While I agree with Matt H. that the local hipsters that bring their kids and let them run amuck while they drink beer should receive a beat-down, the food offered by The Container makes it tolerable. There are additional tables upstairs and outside, so one could find a rug-rat free zone. The Container has gluten-free pizza and buns for their sandwiches, something we really enjoy. The thinner gluten-free crust makes their pizzas in my opinion and I enjoy it over the regular crust. The burgers are top 5 in the area and their salads are fantastic. My wife & I get one of their pizzas and she get the beet & goat cheese salad as our go-to meal. With a couple pints of fresh beer, one of the best meals you can get in Durango! Hopefully Ska will clue in to the fact that people letting their house-apes run around kills the vibe and sets up an adult swim like area or hours. read more

Super cool, laid back bar/brewery/restaurant I discovered while in Durango for vacation. It was difficult to find-didn't realize it was the same location as Ska Brewing Co. Kept passing it because the sign only said brewery and we were looking for a restaurant. Well worth it. 2nd floor was very spacious where lots of parents with small kiddos took advantage. Like literally toddlers were crawling everywhere. The food was ahmazing! Tried the pulled pork sandwich and wings. Good food, but the place is loud as hell and overcrowded. A once great beer tasting room has become a playground. *shrug* I don't have kids so I have no tolerance for people parenting on autopilot like the place is a Chuck-E-Cheese. When you give the parents beer and the kids sugar the rest of us have to suffer your downtime. I hope they possibly open up the second floor seating, branch out into patio area for seating, and do something about all the noise bouncing off the walls.
