I like bacon and hash browns well done which they did! Most restaurants sort of get one or the other well done but Oscar's makes it the way you like it! Done right, affordable and a diner with lots of character. Please note that you can put yourself on their waiting list through Yelp before you get there. If I could give a negative 5 starts I would. We used to come to Oscar's every time we came to town and it was great. Today we were greeted with such rudeness. We had a party of five entering and were literally yelled at to close the door as we were walking in. There's too many other breakfast options to choose from to be treated like that. read more

Walked in and it was busy, waiting for a table 15 min , two others walked in with their own coffee drinks and the waitress sits them down as I'm standing right next to them. Ordered an omelette, the food was ok but dropping a blob of scrambled eggs on top of the ingredients that are supposed to inside doesn't make an omelette then charging extra for toast?? Really tasty breakfast! The verdes bowl was delicious and the pancake was huge! The space is fairly small, loud, and cramped but the food is fast and the staff are friendly. Look for the train inside! I also thought it was nice that you can check in to the wait list on yelp ahead of time. We will be back, we want to try some pie! read more

went here after seeing and reading reviews, honestly me and my wife were shocked by how bad the food was, the help was fine, but over-all not a place I would revisit. the sausage was cold and shunk up like it was made 1 hour ago, the hash brown same totally over oily from sitting to long and burnt and cold. If your in the business of cooking at least try to do that, keep it fresh. This was awful hopefully they do read these review and at least make an effort to clean up their act. read more

Apparently the wrong color to visit this place. Ordered our food, it came out not edible and not one server asked if everything was ok after we sat there and did not eat. We went to pay and told them it wasn't edible, they really had no concern and charged us 36.00 for our food. Will not be visiting this place ever again! read more

We are visiting Durango and decided to try this quaint place not only for breakfast one day but lunch the next. The breakfast was fast, and absolutely delicious. They made fun pancakes for the kiddos and I ordered the Tijuana Tasty omelette and it was so delicious! I was excited to come here for the chile verde, but, a tiny bit let down, honestly. I went with the "Tio", a cheese omelette with chile verde and hash browns. Everything tasted good, nice mildly spicy chile with good flavor, and the omelette was...well, a pretty standard cheese omelette. Hash browns could have been a little more done to my preference, but then...I also could have asked for them to be a little more done, so that's a whatever. I do like that the waitress asked me if I wanted hot sauce, after putting basically half a plate of green chile in front of me - no, I'm good, haha. Unfortunately, the plates were freeeeeezing, and as a result, my food was just warm when I started and pretty cold by the time I got to the end of it (and I definitely ate all of it). Plus a scoop of cool red salsa on top of the omelette kind of helped things to cool off faster. There are a lot of options on the menu, lots of other things to try, but the cold plate kind of puts me off a little. They wouldn't have to be so hot I couldn't touch them, just...not refrigerated. But, complaint aside, I would come back to give this another shot, because, as I said, the food itself tastes pretty good, and I love chile verde. Otherwise, prices are reasonable and the service was good. Worth noting that I was in early on a Wednesday morning and about had the place to myself, but I can see this getting busy later in the mornings and on the weekends especially. read more

The staff here is very friendly and welcoming. I had the vegetarian omelet while my husband ordered the BLT with Avocado. Both were good. It can get pretty crowded and because of that it's pretty noisy. We've visited a few times and the end result seems to depend upon who is cooking that day. Nothing new to report. This is an outstanding cafe / diner stop. Great breakfast and burger selection and prep. Hard working, friendly staff. A great value for a quality meal and service. And...you can have "green" on anything you order. Have stopped in here frequently over many years. Two / three times during a one-week visit. I questioned if there would be issues with recent change in ownership. The answer is no. This team, headed by Guy is doing a great job enhancing a Durango jewel. Unfortunately I don't have a good review here. The last time I ate here as a Durango local, this restaurant was owned by someone else and the food and service was great. However, today's breakfast was in our opinion the worst. We both had eggs Benedict and the sauce tasted from a package, the English muffin wasn't cooked at all and was soggy. Both eggs, the English muffins and half the plate were completely sloppily slathered with what seemed an entire package of hollandaise sauce. I couldn't even identify, not taste the eggs once i started eating. Needless to say it was all left on the plate. We dined with 2 friends, their meals they said were okay however they were delivered 10 minutes before ours. Bad service, bad food. Such a bummer as I loved this place but the quality of the food has gone way down. I hope the owners read this review and make some improvements. read more

I highly recommend Oscar's Cafe for breakfast or lunch. The food is delicious and prepared to order. The portion sizes are "ginormous". The service is excellent. The owner is engaging and involved with the daily operation of the business. But be forewarned, He has a great sense of humor! The ambience is eclectic and filled with old world memorabilia.
