I'm writing this in the car on the way home because my sundae was so great I couldn't wait to review it! This location is relatively new, so it's still clean and shiny on the inside. Service was quick, order was accurate, and we didn't have to wait long to receive our sundaes. I had the flavor of the day, which was pecan pie, with nice big chunks of pecan pie mixed into the custard. I topped it with peanut butter cups, which they gave a very generous amount. The cherry on the proverbial sundae was the nice model train they had setup, complete with the Seven Dwarfs mine, and some seasonal characters like the headless horseman and Dracula on a Vespa. Will definitely be back, and possibly try their food menu next time. read more

The custard is great. I love their banana shakes. The food hasn't been so great. I've eaten here 4 times, tried 4 different food items and it was never very good. The last time I ordered a chili dog and the bun was so hard it was like those microwavable cheeseburgers you can buy at the store that have buns that harden in certain spots when you microwave it. Some of the things are good, but boring. The menu is pretty much like any other burger, fries, chicken sandwich place. Nothing stands out as better than the other drive-throughs. I am disappointed in the custard. The chocolate chip pint I bought was vanilla with some chocolate flakes on top. That's disappointing. The other pints have been similarly mediocre. The single dishes have been very good but the pints are stingy on the mix-ins. It's no Culvers or Kopps but its close by so I go there for the chili and the fries. Both are very good. The food is subpar but the prices are low. I've had their burgers, fries, and onion rings about 5-10 times in the last year and they're always serviceable. Any of the breaded chicken products are bad; similar quality to lunchroom chicken patties, definitely not real chicken but some sort of pressed version. After waiting months for this location to open, I have to say it is a bit of a let down compared to the restaurant that once was in this space. Nothing about my two experiences here was terrible, but nothing was memorable either. I tried their 1/2 pound bacon cheeseburger, which was flame broiled, but the bacon was the cheap stringy microwave kind that you are better off without. I've seen a few comments about the fries not being large enough portions, however I thought that for $1.29 you got a good amount. I mean, you can't even get $1 fries at McDonald's anymore, so I thought the value here was fair. The chili cheese fries were alright - a bit soggy and the chili flavor was not my favorite, but still edible. Make sure if you want yellow mustard on your hot dogs, you ask for the hot dog plain and then use the mustard packets in the seating area, otherwise you will get brown mustard if you order it at the counter (this happened to us twice, despite specifically asking for yellow mustard) Overall the place is okay. But if you're looking for the frozen custard type experience in this area, you are way better off choosing Kopp's instead. read more

I stopped today for lunch (1-09-18) and ordered 2 hotdogs with fried onions, fries, and a root beer. Well i can say the best part of the meal was the Root beer! To start with the hotdog buns were stale and hard, the onions i think were also left over from days gone by, and the hotdogs were not fully cooked and grey color!!! Had a half pound big O with cheese. It tasted really good and was as u can imagine a good size being a half pounder. The family also enjoyed the chicken sandwich and onion rings. Both also were real good. French fries however were the only downside to the meal. Small and greasy, I would recommend cheese curds instead. Reasonable prices and fast service. When visiting Milwaukee I always want to try different custard places. Oscars was good but not that over the top I was hoping to find. The chocolate shake was my favorite. The brownie sundae was good but needed more ice cream to complete it. The vanilla custard was smooth and delicious but the chocolate custard was chilled to low and caused it to crystallize and have a good grainy texture. Overall I have found better choices in Milwaukee that's why I gave this a solid 3 Stars. read more

I have been going here since they opened and I have yet to see anyone asked to pull in the waiting area for there order. So you sit and wait and wait and wait to get to the window for your order. I really was disgusted with the person at the front takes the money an has dirty gloves on blue gloves an you see all the black dier on the finger parts. I took my money told him hold on so I could sanitize my hands to grab my stuff an I wasn't thinking quick enough but he touched my ice cream cup with those dirty gloves an I sure wasn't gonna ask for no napkins from those dirty germy gloves.. Do you NOT get that gloves are properly used as being taken off each person.. All your doing is keeping all the germs an those gloves carry more germs then your own hands. The person should be sanitizing hands after touch the money the money is the most germs carried also. At least Mc Donald's if they wear gloves at the window they only touching money. These places that have one window either need to get another window or invest in alot of sanitizer cause every person your hands should be cleansed. Your protecting yourself but your NOT in anyway protecting then customers. If any customer came by that day an had covid -19 those germs from their credit card or money can be on those gloves that you don't change. Then touching the food after touching the dirty money even if it's the cup of the icecream we are still touching it. If any germs of infection are on those gloves it's passed onto the items touched an the customers touch an we then eat. Years ago we came across the Oscars located on Hwy 100 . Burgundy cherry was the flavor of the day that first time and it "hooked" us completely. For Butter Pecan we go to Leons but for anything else we would go all the way out to Oscars on Hwy 100. We were so excited when they put in the Oscars here in Franklin, just blocks from our home but so very disappointed when we tried it out. Let's face it, the fruits and chocolate pieces really make the flavor but this Oscars' apparently can't afford it or something. I got the 1/2 pound California burger which was bigger than I thought it was going to be...could have gone with the 1/4 pound. My girls enjoyed their corn dogs and I like that the chicken strips were made with real chicken breasts for my son. The onion rings were nice and crisp, and the cheese curds were good. Went out of our way for today's flavor of the day, Drum...Stix. Pretty self explanatory what that flavor contains. Ordered 1 scoop in a dish and 2 scoops in a waffle cone from the drive through. Got to the window and was handed the cone before the money was taken, and was then handed the dish. As the employee gave us change we had to ask for napkins because the cone was already a mess. We got the napkins, but not a receipt. It didn't get better from there. The custard itself was about 98% vanilla custard and almost no peanuts, chocolate or waffle cone pieces. If we wanted vanilla custard we would've gone to the Culvers 2 minutes from our house. So disappointing! We'll wait for Culvers to have Just Drummy or, even better, for Kopps to have Drumstick before ever considering coming back to Oscar's. read more

I generally don't leave bad reviews because teams deserve a chance to redeem there selves. I tried on my first experience at this New location. We have been going to West Allis for years and Franklin is not even close. The Sprite Fountain Soda had a bad smell and taste to it. The burgers were cold. The Chili Cheese Fries nothing like West Allis, the chili was cold and missing my onions and cheese I asked for. I think I will continue going to West Allis. read more

When I walked in I ordered my food I had onion rings and mozzarella stick. Onion rings were good and the mozzarella sticks were amazing. I also loved the scenery especially the big mountain train set to move the train you just have to push a little dogs nose. For dessert I had a hot fudge sundae and it was amazing!!!!!! The new Franklin location is just as wonderful as the as the other two. Awesome food, cleanliness, prices, and the service is even faster than West Allis and Waukesha. The thing that prevents a perfect review is the chili. My wife likes it, I wish they would find another recipe. Their chili is thick from tomato paste and doesn't have a hint of spice. Remove the beans and it makes a great spaghetti sauce. I taste green bell pepper which adds to the sweetness of the tomatoes. Perhaps on the day I ordered the chili they forgot to include chili peppers, chili powder, and ground black pepper. read more

Finally opened after the nice weather is gone. Well, the food is good here. Great burger and fries. My wife says they did not cut her grilled cheese so not happy about that. Her big concern is that she likes fresh brewed ice tea. They only have crappy, yes crappy, tea out of the soda machine. Yuck !!! Which is behind the counter so no refills on soda. Correct those 3 issues and it could have been 5 stars. The big plus for me as a train buff is the G and HO scale layout in the middle of the dining room. Nice touch there guys !!! read more

I stopped here tonight to get carry out for my family. I ordered 1 burger, 1 fish sandwich, 1 grilled cheese, 2 fries and 1 onion ring. I also ordered 4 single scoops of custard. I guess, living so close to Kopps, you get spoiled and I probably use that as the bench mark for other similar restaurants. The burger was just ok. My wife's fish sandwich was also just ok. The kids grilled cheese was less than ok. I agree with another post that the fries seemed really small in the bags and were without salt. The onion rings were solid. Now the custard...we got chocolate and vanilla. The chocolate seemed like it was pre packaged because it was icy/gritty and the vanilla was good, but again it's no Kopps custard. You can really tell the difference. The main difference was the cost...$23 and that same meal at Kopps would have been about $35. In my opinion if you want a great burger, fries, onion rings and custard, go to Kopps! I had really high hopes because living on the south side of town there is literally no where good to eat. I believe in giving every place 2 attempts so we will be back to see if it gets any better. read more
