We ordered the mixed cup ceviche which was super good and extremely fresh. It came with two fried corn tortillas that you could break into chips and put the ceviche on top. We ordered 4 tacos: grilled octopus, battered shrimp, skirt steak, and grilled fish. Our favorite by far was the octopus. It was so tender and seasoned perfectly. Battered shrimp was also wonderful. Least favorites were probably the grilled fish and the steak. The fish taco didn't have a veggies on it, just avocado so it felt like it was missing something. Came here with my mom right after paddle boarding and the food hit the spot! We got a taco especial and a mixed ceviche! Both were a good portion but the fish in the ceviche was too big and chunky. Stopped by on a weekend to grab some fish tacos. The line to order took quite long, so I'm not sure if they were short staffed. The inside seating gets busy but people finish pretty quickly. I had one wish when I came out to California, well maybe more but one was an octopus tostada or taco , something I can't find in Florida. The octopus taco was excellent. I ordered a grilled fish taco and smoked fish taco and both included plenty of fish. Hubs ordered a grilled fish and their Al Pastor. The grilled fish taco included cilantro and avocado. The smoked fish taco included cabbage, pico and avocado. The grilled fish taco was cooked perfectly and was super moist. It was also amazing that the tortillas never fell apart. Oscar's is definitely worth the hype. Their battered fish tacos are always a hit. They don't skimp on the amount of fish that they give you. The pieces of battered fish are pretty thick. All the flavors blend so well together and it tastes fresh. We also ordered the shrimp ceviche which was also delicious and tasted fresh. It comes with two tostada chips. Service was excellent. The workers moved us through the line quickly and we received our orders quickly. They have a self service sauce station where you can get however much sauce you like. There are a variety of hot sauces on each table as well. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. Seems like they have a lot of space but I'm sure it gets packed often. I think what made the food nearly unpalatable was the bad service provided by the guy in the front named Jose. From the minute he took our order, and others, his attitude sucked. He also forgot our chips and guac. We asked about their waters/aguas, his surly response was that there weren't any available because he had to make some... it was 5:30 pm. The place had no air flow, had flies, salsa bar area was less than stocked, also we had to stand in line for another 15 mins to ask for a box for the chips and guac we ended up getting at the end of our meal, to which he replied that there weren't any no boxes only foil, when clearly there were boxes that we were looking at right behind him. Had the attitude, atmosphere been different with a less surly person (he also ignored his co-workers when they would come to him and was rude to them too) perhaps the food experience would have been better. The salsa selection was fantastic, all three options impressed us and we enjoyed mixing them together. I have loved Oscars since 2015. 10 years later I'm older and wiser and well the expectations for good food are higher as well. I judge a Mexican seafood place based on how good their fish batter taco is. I do like Oscars fish taco but it could def use some improvements. This taco has too much cabbage and not only is it unnecessary but it will speed up how fast your taco gets cold. Last- the tortilla is too big for the fish taco. You need smaller tortillas. Less cabbage and smaller tortillas are a good start to a better taco. I might as well comment on the cabbage, its thick, choppy, cut it thinner, finner. I did discover their seafood stew this last visit, and well it's just lovely! And, totally worth ordering. Their fish ceviche was dry/meh. I think that's my bad because I meant to order shrimp ceviche. Which tends to be juicier and more delicious. I love how much more space they have now. A lot more tables and seating options. Quick tip for customers: the line moves slow enough that by the time you get your food you will be seating at a table.
