Our first stop in PB. Always Oscar's. My wife and I got 2 surf n turf tacos each and a shrimp ceviche to share. My kids got surf n turf burritos. My youngest got a steak quesadilla and shrimp quesadilla. We haven't been here in 2 years and they renovated it. They cut the wall next door and now it's wide open. Service was good as always. Restaurant was clean and food always tasty. The surf n turf tacos always taste great. If we go back, I'm ordering octopus tacos. Thank you Oscar's!

Had a delightful lunch at Oscars last week. We tried the beer battered, pork and asada tacos. We also got the ceviche and everything was delicious. There isn't a ton of space, so get friendly with strangers and share a table. Having it right off the beach is so nice and everything tasted wonderful. Will be back next time!

I wish I had an Oscar's closer to home!! Every time I visit San Diego I make sure to stop by to get some delicious seafood tacos. The shop is located on the beach and the interior has a lot of windows, giving it a classic beachy vibe to it. I always get the taco especial and the pulpo taco; the pulpo might be my favorite. I also tried the surf n turf which was also great. One of my favorite spots to eat in SD and honestly so worth the drive!

Solid place, not sure if it's worth the the wait for ordering and for a seat for me. Tacos were good, and you can dress it yourself with sauce and limes from the mini-fridge.

Oscar's Mexican Seafood The line was super long on a Saturday night, but these tacos are huge and totally worth the wait. I started with the Battered Fish Taco (3.75): cabbage, onion, tomato, and cilantro. It was amazing! The fish was very well done and the batter was perfectly crispy. My absolute favorite was the Surf & Turf Taco (7.50) with steak and shrimp; it was honestly insane and easily the best of the bunch. I also tried the Grilled Fish Taco (7.50) with cilantro and avocado, but I wasn't really a fan of that one compared to the others. Insane surf & turf and massive tacos

Saddest burrito there ever was. Please do better. My husband and I stopped by to grab some food to eat by the beach today. There was no line when we got there to order. We waited awhile for our food but I initially didn't mind until I saw my burrito. This was my first burrito of the year.. extremely disappointed. We also ordered their mixed ceviche which was a lot better. Flavor was good but heavily salted today. Maybe it was an off day for them today? Still, please do better.

Oscar's Mexican Food is a culinary spot that embraces Mexican flavors with a seafood focus. The friendly service makes this eatery a local favorite for both casual diners and food enthusiasts. It's especially known for its fish tacos. There can be a line when ordering, as we waited about 20 minutes. The restaurant has about ~10 tables inside and follows an open-window concept. The atmosphere makes it perfect for takeout or casual dine-in. FOOD: 1. Fish Stew (with onions, carrots, celery, and lime; 3/5): This was served to customers waiting in the long line. We waited about 20 minutes. It has ingredients similar to chicken noodle soup. 2. Shrimp and Chorizo Special Taco (with cabbage, onion, tomato, cilantro, avocado, and cheese; 3/5): I liked that they were generous with the seafood and toppings. Otherwise, it was just okay and somewhat bland/missing something. The three different salsa sauces helped a lot. 3. Grilled Octopus Taco (with cabbage, onion, tomato, cilantro, avocado, and cheese; 3/5): Similar to #2. 4. Skirt Steak Taco (with cabbage, onion, tomato, cilantro, avocado, and cheese; 3/5): Similar to #2. 5. Taco Especial (smoked fish, shrimp, and scallops with cabbage, onion, tomato, cilantro, avocado, and cheese; 3/5): Similar to #2. 6. Mixed Ceviche (fish and shrimp mixed ceviche; 4/5): This was my favorite of the dishes we tried. You can't go wrong with this - consider adding some of the red hot salsa. The service is self-serve after ordering. Because the restaurant is often packed, tables are not always cleaned right away, as the staff is busy preparing food and handling orders. You can claim a table when one opens up and ask someone to come by to clean it. Would I come back? It wouldn't be at the top of my list, but if someone wanted to go, I'd be open to it.

    - large open seating area, service is relatively quick - shrimp ceviche ($9): super punchy, loved all the crunchy elements and then topped with some smooth avocado - comes with two crunchy tostadas - average ceviche! Nothing outstanding

I love Oscar's! The food never disappoints and it's always so delicious. The inside of the restaurant is clean and casual. I usually order to go if I'm by myself and sit by the beach since it's so close. The service is friendly and usually quick unless it's super busy. Can't wait to go back!

Oscars is the go to spot for sure if you don't know... you gotta go! This place is a legit spot for tacos and more that is just steps from the Boardwalk. Don't be discouraged by the line it's worth it.

We stopped by Oscar's for dinner and really enjoyed their fish tacos. The line was a bit long so we did wait about half hour to order, but it was well worth it. I ordered a grilled fish taco and smoked fish taco and both included plenty of fish. Hubs ordered a grilled fish and their Al Pastor. The grilled fish taco included cilantro and avocado. The smoked fish taco included cabbage, pico and avocado. The grilled fish taco was cooked perfectly and was super moist. It was also amazing that the tortillas never fell apart. We've found this to be the case at a few places in San Diego, such a nice surprise.

Oscar's is definitely worth the hype. Their battered fish tacos are always a hit. They don't skimp on the amount of fish that they give you. The pieces of battered fish are pretty thick. All the flavors blend so well together and it tastes fresh. We also ordered the shrimp ceviche which was also delicious and tasted fresh. It comes with two tostada chips. Service was excellent. The workers moved us through the line quickly and we received our orders quickly. They have a self service sauce station where you can get however much sauce you like. There are a variety of hot sauces on each table as well. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. Seems like they have a lot of space but I'm sure it gets packed often. Parking can be a struggle as it shares parking with the beach next to it. We were able to find parking in one of the spots in front of Oscar's.

Ask the Community - Oscars Mexican Seafood

    Does Oscar's have happy hour?

I don't think so. Maybe just specials like their "Oscar's Combo" etc.

Do they always run out of chips whenever I go there?

    Shit happens

What are the three sauce names, they are all so yummy?

    Red, green, Habenero

Gluten Free options? - someone who worked here said the tortillas are gluten free?

2 salad options, tacos themselves do not have a gluten free option

    Do they take credit cards?

Yes! But sometimes the machine is down so it is a safe bet to bring cash. Most likely it will be working just fine. :)

Do they have a happy hour?

    Yes they do: M-Thu 2:30-5:30PM!

Beware there's only street parking, no valet service (unless you're a hotel guest), so that can present a challenge. Reservations a MUST on weekends, especially with a group. Now for the food reviews. Everything we ordered was delicious from the squash blossom and smashed tuna tartare appetizers to the El Festin platter (made for groups) . Since the main dining area is kept dark for the dramatic gothic effect, it's tricky to rely on your sense of sight for the presentation of each of the dish. The highlight for me was the chili garlic shrimp tacos. So full of flavor! The only drawback is that many of their dishes are made with nuts. So if you have a nut allergy, which one of us in our group did, the menu was limiting. Overall, it's an incredible place for first timers and out-of- towners. I might return for a special celebration, but not repeatedly. Once is good enough experience, especially with so many other special dining options in our fine city.

Delicious food, great view, and wonderful hospitality!…read more On our last evening in San Diego, we went to Coasterra to wrap up our vacation there. This restaurant came highly recommended by major Visit San Diego websites, and we felt we should give it a try. Located right next to the water, the restaurant offers expansive view of the harbor and the San Diego skyline. Sitting is about 50/50 indoor vs. outdoor, and we chose the indoor sitting as it tended to get colder in the evening. Parking is available out front, but we took Lyft there. We came in around Happy Hour, and we were able to score two appetizers for $11 each. We got fried calamari and fish cervice as appetizers. For entree, we had the fish tacos and scallops. Both of the appetizers were excellent, and the cervice was so light and flavorful. My husband loved his scallop entree, and the taste and presentation were original and outstanding. My fish taco was enjoyable as well. For dessert, we had fresh churro that was paired with ice cream, which was excellent as well. Our meal came to $143 with taxes, which was a very good value with the quality and services offered. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, which made us felt right at home. As for the ambiance, it felt modern and relaxed. There were diverse customers from locals, tourists, and business people. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience and we will return.
