4.5 Quaint. Walk in to order with a good sized outdoor dining area. I noticed a pick up order of 2 large trays and all orders halted while this was taken care of. So the wait was a bit. This location does NOT have a vegan option. What is listed on the website is not for this location (which sounded divine with vegan "eggs", Soyrizo, tater tots, vegan sour cream, guacamole...) Perhaps considering making that clear on the website. However - the Soyrizo, tater tot & guacamole burrito was delicious

Stopped by here on our way out of SD from Memorial Day weekend on a Sunday. Was surprised to see how busy this little joint gets! The parking lot is fairly small & requires payment so be prepared for that. As well, it does get very busy on the weekends, as we waited around 15-20 min after ordering to receive our food. The wait was well worth it! Our food was delicious!! While ordering I was told the bowl I got could have any meat in it, not just the ones listed on the description, this was great considering I am not a huge sausage/bacon fan. As well, the sauces in both the burrito & the bowls were SO GOOD! These burritos are HUGE and definitely a shareable option. Really loved the vibes here as I heard many people say "this is the best breakfast burrito they ever had." Which is reassuring as we waited around for our food. The customer service was top tier as they were so friendly & welcoming.

Being so close to the water , you wouldn't think "heaven " would be so close ! Ok, maybe , but the spice, the flavor ... the wide window opening with stools , while the fresh air supports you through breathing out your hangover -needs more egg but has, taters, eggs , salsa , fresh tort BEST customer service!!!!!!!! Didn't get her name n now feel horrible cuz it was Tuesday morning, best girl tude, coffee was cold brew and very yummy ! Hangover or not, stop here for breakfast!

Fulfillment of our beach bite Food: Assortment of burrito options! we ordered the Carne Asada burrito without tortilla strips and Eggie n' Cheesy burrito. Carne asada burrito had crispy tots (not soggy) and medium scrambled eggs with fresh guacamole. Eggie n' Cheesy burrito was delicious, simple and every other burrito is built on this foundational option. They have a basket of individually packed red and green salsas. Grab both options: red was most spicy and green was more mild. Burrito's temperature was pipping hot! No cold eggs here Service: Ordered easily online for a 25 minute pickup on a Saturday afternoon. Upon arrival the lady was so friendly and helpful at the counter. I love the crew calls out your full gov name to ensure it's your order! Ambiance: Clean Californian coastal stand and catch the shining sun rays outdoor seating. Small note there are no restrooms. Overall: we will most definitely come back for burritos to eat on the beach!

I've had this before and loved it but my burrito is 75 percent tater tots and the rest is burnt eggs. Not happy with this experience. I also showed the counter service my burrito had no sauce and burnt eggs and was told "sorry".

I can't believe it was my first time here! One of the best burritos I've had in a while! I also love tatter tots and that was inside my carne asada burrito. Such a big portion, I can only eat half. Service was fast and friendly. There's more seating outside than inside.

metal in our food from their veggie cutting equipment

I really hate leaving this review because I actually love the food here. I visit San Diego about once a month, and Earlybird has been one of the places I regularly stop at. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was serious enough that I feel people should know about it. There were four of us having breakfast when my girlfriend bit into a sharp piece of metal inside her burrito, which cut the inside of her mouth. We still have photos of the metal piece and the burrito. What made the situation even more frightening was that the rest of us had already been eating our food. Two of our friends became so worried that there could have been additional pieces of metal in what they had eaten that they were trying to make themselves throw up because they had no idea whether they might have swallowed something. I want to be very clear that the employees handled the situation with genuine concern. They were extremely sweet, immediately came over to help, and brought us to the back. We were shown the equipment used to prepare/cut the vegetables, and we could see that pieces appeared to be missing from part of the machinery. Naturally, that made the situation even more concerning given what we had just found in the burrito. We could have immediately pursued an insurance claim or made this into a much bigger issue, but we didn't. We simply left our contact information with the owner, who was there and speaking with his employees when this happened. I expected, at the very least, a phone call to check on my girlfriend and the rest of us, acknowledge what happened, and apologize. It has now been two weeks, and we have not received a single call or message. That is ultimately why I am leaving one star. Accidents can happen, and the employees showed us that they genuinely cared. What disappoints me is the complete lack of follow-up from ownership after a customer was injured by a piece of metal found inside their food and an entire table was left worried about whether anyone else might have swallowed metal. Great food and genuinely caring employees, but after being a loyal customer, I expected much more concern, responsibility, and basic courtesy from the owner.

BIG BURRITO AND YOU CAN ORDER ONLINE SO MINIMIZE WAITING!!!! Came here on a Sunday morning and there were quite a bit of people in the our door patio. I got the asada burritos and it was so much food. I think the best part was the green sauce it made everything so much better.

My son found this place online. It's a simple burrito shop that makes incredible burritos, that are more than enough for one person. I had the firebird, which was super tasty, but my son said the star was the carne asada. They do take a little time to make, the egg in it is fried and not scrambled so it can be messy, but they are worth the wait.

Perfection in a tortilla. Great way to kick off our day at Pacific Beach. The ratios were spot on and the taste was absolutely incredible. Wouldn't change a single thing. Ordering the food was easy but my recommendation would be have a better way of communicating the status of our order. We got ours at the same time as a group that showed up five minutes after us. Not sure what their process is here but we felt like they forgot to make our burrito for a minute. This was immediately forgotten after we got ours food and bit into the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. Just keep that in mind when coming here. It may be quick it may be slow but it'll definitely be delicious.

Keeping it so real here... this place is FIRE. Service was friendly and quick, especially on a Friday morning which probably helped as I've heard there can be lines out the door on the weekend. Lots of outdoor seating options and a quick walk to the beach which is where we chose to enjoy our burrito. We split the Carne Asada Breakfast Burrito and holy Toledo was this thing MASSIVE. Stuffed with eggs, sauce, tater tots, guacamole and of course, tasty carne asada. They have great salsa too which is always a must! I'm sure you've heard the hype, but definitely experience it for yourself. We'll be back to try some more menu items!

Hands down the best carna asada breakfast burrito yet so far!

We were here on a weekend and it was very busy with 40 minute wait but let me tell you it was worth it because the food was bomb.com If you come here on a weekend expect to wait but it'll be worth it, the burritos looks small but inperson there pretty hefty and fulfilling.

I picked a place off Google but when we landed there we were not comfortable stopping to park, so we looked again and decided to check out La Puerta not realizing it was in the Gaslight District. I am not a fan of the Gaslight District, which is why I am so mad!! I'm going to HAVE to go back to the Gaslight District!! The food was AMAZING!! I HIGHLY recommend the Potato Flautitas. It's the kind of dish I'm going to dream about, I'm salivating now just thinking about them. I also did the Pick 3 Street Tacos (and actually ordered a 4th). The Ranchero Shrimp and Grilled Veggie were top notch. The Conchinita was recommended by our waiter, and it was interesting, tasty but different. It could have used a little more pickled onion. The only one I would not recommend (shockingly, I thought it would be the easy pass) was the carne asada. It was too greasy. My husband ordered a carne asada quesadilla and said the same, it was too wet and soaked through the tortilla. But there were no many other delightful options, I would say just don't go traditional. But honestly my favorite thing on the plate was the side dish rajas con crema, seriously, that alone is going to drag me down to the Gaslight District. I'm even considering going to a Padres game just for the excuse. I'm salivating again! As for our waiter, Colin, he was fantastic. Very informative, made great suggestions and seemed genuinely pleased by our satisfaction. He was smiling the whole time, friendly and stayed very present. I highly recommend you get yourself through the door at La Puerta and sit down for a meal ASAP. (We ate the food so fast I forgot to take pictures.)

The food was equally impressive, with flavorful, well-prepared Mexican dishes that exceeded our expectations. What I enjoyed most was the diverse crowd. People from all walks of life came together to enjoy good company, delicious food, and a festive atmosphere. It truly felt like a place where everyone could relax, connect, and have a great time. I highly recommend visiting on Taco Tuesday. It's a fantastic value, with delicious tacos and TJ Dogs for just $3 each. The tacos were packed with flavor, and the TJ Dogs were just as tasty. It's hard to beat the quality, atmosphere, and prices. We'll definitely be back!

DJ decided on a house margarita. Both very refreshing on a still summer Sunday morning! The brunch menu has a nice variety to choose from, but choosing one can be a little hard. I ordered guacamole to start. It came with two delicious salsas. For breakfast, I ordered the pancakes and carnitas. I would say this would be the equivalent of chicken and waffles. This was really good! Especially when you drizzle the syrup on the carnitas and eat it with the pancakes. I also added a couple of scrambled eggs. DJ had the breakfast carne asada potatoes and eggs. Came with guacamole and pico de gallo. Soooooo good! The portions are huge which, in this crazy world of cutting back and charging more, is how it should be. I could only finish half, and had the rest the next day. Love when you can do that! Again, the staff is great! And the patio is well laid out for owners and their dogs. Cako Approves!

We had a reservation and were really excited to give it a try. Unfortunately, the experience just did not meet our expectations. We ended up being late to our reservation because we were told that the Lafayette parking valet was full and that we would need to find parking elsewhere. We drove around trying to find somewhere to park and literally could not find anything, so we eventually had to Uber from a couple of blocks away. Obviously, some of that was out of the restaurant's control, but it definitely made getting there more stressful than expected. Once we were finally seated, things didn't really improve. We sat there looking at the menu for around 30 minutes and no one came by to check on us, ask if we wanted drinks, see if we had questions, or even acknowledge that we had been waiting. We were honestly just sitting there wondering if someone was going to come over. Eventually, we started talking about leaving because we had been waiting so long. Our waiter finally came over and basically said that it seemed like we weren't ready to order and that he assumed we still weren't, so we could let him know whenever we were ready. My friend explained that we actually had been ready and had just been waiting for someone to come help us. At that point, we decided to be honest and let him know that the experience really wasn't meeting our expectations. Unfortunately, the overall interaction left us feeling like we weren't really being taken seriously. I don't want to assume that it was because we were a group of young girls, but that was genuinely the impression we got from the experience. It felt like we didn't really belong there or weren't being treated with the same level of attention as other guests. We also mentioned that we were celebrating my friend's birthday, and there really wasn't any acknowledgment of it, which was disappointing considering that was the reason we were visiting in the first place. I will say that the aesthetic is beautiful and definitely what originally caught our attention, but unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed that for us. We came in excited to celebrate and try somewhere new, and we ended up leaving without even ordering because we felt so overlooked. Maybe we caught them on an off night, but unfortunately, based on our experience, I wouldn't return or recommend it. The atmosphere may be beautiful, but the service needs to match it.
