Great service! I went hear during ther last hour hoping to get some poke for a late night on the beach and the server was super helpful. I had a custom poke bowl no rice or too many toppings, I wanted a small snack instead of a whole meal. Although they charged me for a regular poke bowl (which is fair) it was absolutely delicious! Such a bright & well-lit restaurant! Fish & Things is located near the beach as well and I took my poke bowl to go and had a nice dinner at the beach. Service is fast, cashiers are kind. Just an FYI, the poke bowls aren't "Hawaiian" style in the way where it's just poke and rice, but F&T offers a lot of toppings and relies on the sauce. Really solid poke spot. The vibe is chill, it's super clean inside, and only about a 2-minute walk from the beach. Perfect location if you're hungry after hanging out near the water. I got the large bowl which comes with 5 proteins. I went with 3 tuna, 1 salmon, and 2 spicy salmon. The 6th scoop was extra, but I was hungry and it was worth it. You can pick two bases but I kept it simple with just sushi rice so I could track my macros easier. For toppings, I did green onion, edamame, cilantro, and two scoops of seaweed salad. The second scoop of seaweed was also an extra charge, but again, no regrets. They let you grab one of each regular topping without charging extra which is rare and honestly appreciated. I also grabbed a Diet Coke and a side of white rice for my kid. Total was $34.36 after adding a tip. The bowl was legit. Super fresh and good portions. The tables even have little games on them. We had Connect 4 and my kid was entertained the whole time. Bathrooms were clean too which is always a good sign. Definitely would come back. Discovered F&T Poke Bar after my beach day in PB. I mainly came for poke and ordered a medium bowl. The portion was a bit small as I'm unsure if we got 3 scoops of fish instead of the 4 that were meant to be scooped, but I took a picture of it. I wasn't sure if it was because it was near closing, but the ordering process and hand off was a bit off and chaotic. It was difficult to communicate what we wanted but in the end our bowl was made and their fish compared to other poke bars is higher quality. I'd be curious to try their rolls sometime! Fish & Things has offerings that I've never seen at other poke spots such as the option to have cucumbers as a base, macadamia nuts on top, and even panko bread crumbs as a finishing touch. I got the regular bowl with 2 scoops of spicy salmon and 1 scoop of F&T mix, which is premarinated ahi tuna and salmon in a spicy and savory sauce. The F&T mix was so good! I wish I had 2 scoops instead. The spicy salmon was good, but the F&T mix just had that extra spice kick. Together with all the toppings and sauces, it was just incredible. Several years ago, there was another poke shop that operated out of this PB suite within a stone's throw of the boardwalk. They closed rather quickly because of a controversial business/legal decision that sparked backlash from the community. Fish & Things Poke Bar, with locations in San Jose and the Greater Sacramento Area, has debuted recently in this space with the same concept of poke bowls. The menu was a little more diverse as it included sushi rolls, tacos, and burgers as other offerings. There was dedicated parking on the west side of the building, however numerous signs were posted to indicate that you have to pay in advance. Those who parked in these spaces to use the businesses at this address needed to provide a license plate number for validation. I visited in the early afternoon on a weekday and spent less than 30 minutes on-site. The suite was lit up from the sunshine coming through the west and south facing windows. It created some glare on the menu screens behind the counter. I noticed that the build-your-own poke bowl prices have increased with inflation but were on par with the local competition. In the past, you could get a large bowl that included five scoops of protein for under $20 at a typical poke shop. That's no longer the case as a large size here will set you back more than $24 after tax. There were three preset, signature bowls sold at a regular size which was three scoops of protein. I chose the Classic Hawaiian which had the following ingredients... ahi tuna, crab salad, classic shoyu sauce, macadamia nuts, green onions, white onions, and sesame seeds. The quality of the tuna was good, but I felt more non-premium toppings should have been included. I am talking about veggies like edamame, cucumbers, and seaweed as examples. For the soft opening, there was a 15% discount applied which was a bonus. I gave a four star rating for my dining experience at Fish & Things Poke Bar. read more
