Had one of the worst experiences I have every had in visiting this restaurant this week, a dingy, unsanitary lounge style atmosphere. Ordered a couple of simple burritos and a margarita. I've been to Tijuana Mexico and had a better experience there than I did at this awful place. The staff could care less and when I mentioned the meat looked inedible, just got blank stares... I saw them fight with several patrons over their "come on" offers... and several left. I have only actually eaten here once and the food was decent. I did have nachos a couple weeks ago and they were quite tasty. Even better with a cold beer. A friend of mine has a karaoki/dj gig here a couple times a week, so on occasion I'll show up with some friends. The drinks are good. Strong and cheap. This is DEFINITELY not a high class place by any means. The bar pretty much consists of "regulars" who come in for drinks. There are some sketchy biker types, but they are harmless. read more

Came here because we saw the 99cents taco Tuesday sign so we decided to go in and check it out, who doesn't love tacos ! But we came in looked around and got sat in the restaurant dining side there was also a bar side so you can choose where to sit. We ordered the tacos which was 99 cents you can only choose ground beef for that matter we order two soft tacos and two hard tacos it was delicious! We also order shrimp cocktails Mexican style which was ceviche more like a salad than a cocktail in my opinion but it was good wasn't too bad last but not least we order dessert which was the caramel flan with whip cream caramel was on point, it was frozen flan but it actually tasted really good frozen it was like frozen ice cream flan which I thought was a good texture to it than really soft flan that I had before at other places overall it was a good spot to dine in on taco tuesdays! I should start this by saying I am easy to please. When I go out for a meal that cost under $35 (with margaritas) I don't expect a lot. That being said, the service can be kind of slow but when you only need one margarita (because they are the size of your head) who cares. And they are strong and good. I always get the same thing so I have a hard time judging the food overall. The stuffed chicken is easily my most favorite meal from any restaurant. Their chips and salsa is also great. read more

Stopped by for a bite to eat on a Tuesday evening during a long highway trip. From the outside, the place looked rather beat up, and the front signage for karaoke and comedy nights had me worried this was more of a bar. To our pleasant surprise, the front of the restaurant was a small, mom-and pop-style Mexican place with comfortable booths that used normal chairs separating the booths with high walls. It was a comfortable and unique. The food was pretty good, and they were very helpful with ordering. The drinks were huge and good, including some non-alcoholic drinks for the driver, like a banana ice cream smoothie. Their menu items were explained very well, which helped the member of my party who has a gluten sensitivity and can only eat corn tortillas. The waiter was attentive throughout our meal. It appeared there was a bar on site, in the back perhaps, but it didn't affect my meal, or that of several families that were eating there. The food served was not the most amazing I've eaten (thus 3 stars), but it was good and everyone I was with finished their plates. I just happened to walk into Oscar's on a warm night in August, and have been coming a few times a week since. Taco Tuesdays are great. A dollar a taco cant be beat. If you're really lucky, you can catch the elusive Taylor working the bar. If you do, youre in for a treat. Sweet and pretty and on point with her drinks. Overall. Oscars has had its ups and downs but in the last few years it has absolutely stepped up its game. The food is delicious, and taco Tuesday is my favorite. One star because zero isn't an option. Walked in on a Saturday night @ 7:00 to a restaurant only having three tables and the one server on running around like she was on fire. We were given chips and salsa when the hostess came over to get our drink order. Chips were cold and stale- salsa tasted like watered down Tostitos dip that came right out of the fridge it were so cold. The hostess came over roughly ten minuets later and asked what we wanted for a drink. My boyfriend and I both asked for waters to start and got the wrong drinks. When she came back she asked if we wanted an app we said no, she disappeared again. When she came back a while later asked what we wanted to eat I ordered the chicken enchiladas- informing her I have a shellfish allergy to which she responded she would be right back. When She came back she told me sorry they didn't have swordfish that night I decided it wasn't a good place to eat having an allergy that the server clearly didn't understand and didn't want to risk it. This is some of the finest and tastiest Mexican food that I've ever had. Food is consistent and very reasonably priced.

I've been a long time customer of this restaurant approximately 15 years and hands down this restaurant has the crunchiest Tacos in Tewksbury and surrounding towns. I go to this place twice a month just to get Tacos and Enchiladas. This is a very casual place and some customer may not like the appearance of the restaurant from inside but my review is strictly based on taste and quality of the food. The prices of most items on the menu are reasonable and lower than most Mexican restaurants around the area. The restaurant is going under renovation right now because of building violation code. I hope they complete renovation soon and comply with Board of Health so I can enjoy the BEST Tacos in town. read more

I'm a karaoke fiend! I love going to Pinatas to sing and get drinks with my friends. The fact that they have karaoke night 4 days a week is my favorite thing about this place. The guys who run it do their best to make sure everyone that puts their name in sings at least twice throughout the night. The song selection is really good too. The margaritas are huge, tasty and have always been strong enough that I feel like I'm getting my money's worth. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The waitstaff is friendly and down to earth. There are some busy nights where I feel like the bar area is under-staffed. The one downfall of Oscar's Pinatas is the space in the bar area. You have to get there early if you have a party of four or more people if you want enough room because it fills up fast. If only that room was slightly bigger then I wouldn't have any complaints! Found this place on Groupon and figured I would have a taco Tuesday/ Mexican food date night with my husband. Usually I read reviews and look at menus before I go to restaurants. But I was feeling spontaneous since we were kid free. The nachos were stale and the salsa was pretty basic. It's clearly not an authentic Mexican restaurant just from looking at the menu. They have pasta and burger dishes for what they call "non Mexican food eaters" lol. Someone else wrote a review about how this place should be on the Gordon Ramsey show Kitchen Nightmares... and this is EXACTLY what I thought after just a few minutes of looking at the menu! So I figured I would play it safe and order appetizers instead of ordering off the dinner menu. I ordered chicken quesadillas which I will say was not too bad. My husband on the other hand ordered chicken wings, chili, & 3 beef tacos. The chicken wings looked and tasted like they had no seasoning whatsoever. Not to mention one of the chicken wings looked like someone bit a piece off. The ground beef in the chili and tacos looked like a grey/white color and my husband even thought it was pork meat. It looked like cat food in my opinion. My husband loves to eat and he couldn't even finish one taco. The waitress Sue didn't ask how the food was until we were ready for the bill. Then she seemed upset that my husband didn't like the food. She did bring him an order of quesadillas which was tolerable so that's why I'm giving one star. Everything else about this place is NOT good. I also want to mention that this place is NOT KID FRIENDLY in case anyone plans on bringing kids here. The Yelp ad says it is but they do not have a kids menu, no changing tables in the bathroom, & it smells like cigarettes and old carpet in the restaurant. Not a good first impression. I went to oscars for taco Tuesday, where 1.00 tacos are offered. Walked in and host sat us right away. Sat there for 20 minutes and no server had greeted us yet. The restaurant was pretty empty at this time. Meanwhile, there was a server who walked past us SEVERAL times and didn't pay ANY mind to us. She probably wasn't our server, but if you see a couple of people who have been sitting there for sometime, wouldn't you at least tell someone? Frustrated, I finally walked to the bar because now I can't even find that one server, or the host. I told the bartender there's no server in the dining room. She said sometimes they miss people coming in....and did nothing. I decided just to sit at the bar and I put in my order immediately, not wanting to wait any longer than I already have and the food came out quickly. I got two tacos and shared an app of boneless wings. The only reason why I'm giving this place a star at all is because for one dollar, I was pleased by the tacos. Last night on a friend's recommendation, my wife, my son and I tried this place. I should have known I was screwed when the 50 year old lady I saw outside sucking on a Marlboro, who looked like she rode a Harley to work, approached my table with her pad and pen ready. I ask Easy Rider what brands of tequilas this fine establishment offers and she says " we have some, no-name brand for our house margaritas, and then we have Cuervo, Patron, and 1800. Do you want me to ask what else we have?" Now, Dan is thinking that this lady is gonna have contact with my food atH some point, so I forgo the "no Flo, I don't. You say you've been here for 13 years, I want you to KNOW what tequila you have!!! And by the way, 1800 IS MADE BY CUERVO!!" that comes to mind, and let herknow that Patron will suffice. 9 minutes later she arrives at my table with an adult sized glass of water for my son...ya..kid's menu, but they don't have kid's cups....and two, bird bath-sized margaritas for wifey and me. 3lbs. ice, 67oz. of sour mix and 1/2 tablespoon of tequila....POOF!! Oscar's "famous" margarita....all for the low low price of only 12 bucks apiece. While perusing the menu I'm trying to decide between chicken fajitas and Mexican chicken parmesan (yup, really!!) I go with the fajitas. Bad idea. What comes to the table is a skillet with what just might be poached chicken, peppers and onions, all swimming in a sauce that may or may not have been made with stewed tomatoes, accompanied by a teaspoon of the usual fajita condiments. We also ordered "made to order, by hand" chili con queso. HAHAHAHA. Melted cheese with 4-5 pieces of diced tomatoes....made by hand. I'm sure it was....along with the other 3 gallons of melted cheese dip the prep cook threw on the steamtable. About 15 or so minutes after the food comes, "Flo" breezes by the table faster than she would if she was on roller-skates wondering if everything is good. Thanks for the concern, was it time for another smoke?? I asked for the check and the waitress of 13+ years ignored the fact that 89% of our food went uneaten. Even the handmade cheese dip. I would just as soon eat my own left arm before going back there. Anne Frank wouldn't eat at Oscar's Pinata. I should have known a Mexican restaurant with potato skins and mozzarella sticks on the menu would not be my new favorite place. DAMN read more

I had the misfortune to work out in Tewksbury for a year back in 2003, and at the time at least, this was pretty much the only good food in town. Really first rate Mexican food, sort of reminiscent of New Mexican (except, sadly, without the green chili sauce). Be prepared for ginormous portions though. The dinners could feed a small village, and the large Margaritas come in a glass almost as big as your head. This place has the best mexican food in the area. I am really hard to please but the value is here, both in portions and taste. The service has needed improvement (although I went there Friday and it was good). Atmosphere is Mexican (pinatas and all) with a guitar playing Mexican singer on Friday if you like that. I'm a west coaster so when I say an east coast Mexican place is ok that's a high compliment. Fr me Mexican food is comfort food--give me some chips and salsa and a chicken enchilada any day and I'm in. Their enchilada sauce is house made with great flavor and not overbearing, the sauce they cook the chicken in is quite tasty too. Their combos are huge, definitely enough for lunch the next day or in my case breakfast and lunch, They even had fresh guacamole which I have unfortunately come to realize isn't common at a lot of places around here. read more

Usually I only get take out from Oscar's. Their food is fine, nothing to write home about but a good amount of satisfactory mexican food for the price. Getting the attention of the only waitress there (maybe the owner/co-owner?) is usually difficult and takes a lot of time, because theyre never up front and usually are in the kitchen loafing around. That being said, I ate in at the restaurant for the first time and it was incredibly meh. It took almost five minutes, in a near empty restaurant (only one table was full) to even see the waitress, and when she did walk by she casually told us to grab our own menus and pick whatever table we wanted. o...kay? The place was almost embarrassingly quiet, save for the cheesey mexican music (why? I know youre a mexican place, theres mexican food and decor. Dont ruin the experience with the same three horrible songs looped over and over). It took awhile for her to stop and take our order (we sat one table behind the only other one that was occupied, so she walked past us at least three times to serve the other patrons...guess she was too busy to stop?) and when she did she just braced her arms against our table and kind of made eye contact, waiting. My friend and I was so off put we stammered for a minute before telling her our orders. And even then, she kind of quietly stared at us for a few seconds too long, before nodding, writing it down, and bolting off again. We couldnt stop talking about how weird it was! She's clearly grown too comfortable in her job, it was so offputting and kind of creepy. Oh, and taco tuesday means 99c tacos. But only for beef tacos-- which they dont mention unless you try to order a nonbeef taco on tuesday. Then they just kind of grumble "you know taco tuesday is only for beef tacos, right?" Uh, why would I know that? cant you just tell me that without being rude, or ask for clarification? In short, alright for take away. avoid eating in at all costs. read more

Waited for 15 minutes for any one to take our drink order, by that point we were ready to place our food order and the waitress said "No, ill take your food order later, the bartender can take a long time." She came back 6 minutes later with our drinks and then took our food order. Once the food came (about 20 minutes later) she dropped off the food and never came back to check on us. About 30 more minutes she came back and took my plate without asking if i wanted to bag it (I had half my food left). Worst waitress ever. O and did I mention that in the middle of her shift she felt the need to sit down in front of everyone to empty out her purse and do paperwork. Never going back read more
