The closest thing to San Diego mexican food I've had in Nashville thus far. This place definitely reminded me a lot of taco shops back home. Pretty much anything you'd get will be delicious and crunchy. I would only stick to tacos, burritos, and quesadillas here, if you get enchiladas or anything like that it will not be good. Back in San Diego the enchiladas at taco shops were terrible, just like this place. Better than mexican restaurant food I've had, I'll definitely be back!

Another great little Oscar's Taco Shop! This place is a local California-style Mexican Restaurant, with pretty decent food. I love their Shrimp burrito, the fish tacos, the carnitas, Pastor, and many other items. It reminds me of a small chain we had back home in Fresno called Maria's Taco Shop which was a kind of fast food Mexican place that had great food too. All of the locations that I have been to so far have been good. Check them out!

Felipe provided the best service ever!! The torta is huge too! Great portion for the price.

    Chicken bowl.

I want to like Oscar's so bad because Mexican is my fave and it's close. But they have hands down the most disgusting chicken I have ever had in my life. I've gone several times and tried different menu items but it's always the same. Their chicken is hard and looks like alien intestines and tastes funky too. Idk what the heck part of the chicken they use or what their cooking process is but they've got to change it! I always end up picking it out of my food or just losing my appetite because it tastes so wonky. If you go, don't get the chicken!

Love me some Oscar's. But, if you're going to offer breakfast burritos in the menu, maybe be open during breakfast hours?

Spanish music played in the background at just the right volume, creating a relaxed atmosphere where I could easily see myself enjoying a cold beer. My server greeted me with a smile and brought out chips and salsa right away. The house salsa was very mild, so I asked for something spicier. The red and green salsas were both excellent--great flavor with just the right amount of heat. I ordered the chilaquiles with steak and eggs. Unfortunately, the eggs I ordered medium came out hard. The steak was decent but nothing memorable, while the beans were flavorful. The chilaquiles were completely covered in sauce. The sauce itself was delicious, but there was simply too much of it, making the dish soggy. I was also surprised that the plate didn't come with tortillas. Service was decent overall, although my server didn't check back until I was almost finished eating. The décor was a little confusing, combining a tropical jungle theme with rustic ranch-style seating. Maybe that's part of Acapulco's culture--I honestly don't know--but it didn't seem to have a consistent theme. Overall, it was an average experience. The atmosphere and spicy salsas were the highlights, but the food execution and attentiveness during the meal left room for improvement

My wife and I had such great memories of the food but our schedules kept us away. We finally had some time off between loads it took us 2 years to get back and we knew that eating at Acapulco Burrito was a must. We even found a parking spot next door so we could sit and enjoy our dinner. Well the night went downhill right after walking in. We were seated quickly, we looked over the menu and we made our selections. Our meals were cold my wife was served a cold chicken burrito and my food was far from hot. Disappointed doesn't come close to how we felt afterwards. We don't complain, we remember and the next time we find ourselves in Antioch or Laverne we are good with eating elsewhere.

Also on the list was Los Agaveros, however, I looked and saw the Yelp rating (via Apple Maps) and opted for Rancho Cantina. I am so glad I followed Yelp's recommendation. I visited on a Monday evening and it wasn't too busy. They had wonderful mariachi playing and a big screen at the bar of the performance. I was told to sit wherever I wanted. I was given chips and salsa and a menu. The menu was huge. Lots of pages. So much to choose from, it looks like they serve it all. I went in expecting tex Mex but was pleasantly surprised. I got the Pechuga a la Plancha con Chorizo. It was down to either that or the Carne Asada. Since I always get carne adana I chose the Pechuga a la Plancha con Chorizo. I got Rice and beans, and corn tortillas. It came out very quickly. On a plate that was similar to fajitas. Sizzling and steamy. The smells coming off were amazing. The tortillas were home made and not store bought. The food was very good. The chicken was soft and cooked perfectly. The flavor was very good and I completely cleaned my plate. I will definitely return here. LaVergne is 2-0 on Mexican places now. Mexichina is very close by as well. I am well pleased.

OK...here is the deal... A few Sundays ago we wanted…read moreMexican, but wanted it to go. We call Cozumel and order a double mixed fajita with shredded cheese, extra salsa and mild dip. To those not in the know - the mild dip is their burrito sauce. Here is what you do. You dip a chip in the burrito sauce then sprinkle it with the shredded cheese - you are welcome! We have been coming here since before they expanded into an adjacent store that went out of business. When they first opened in the early 90's it was just the section you walk into. My youngest was barely 2 and my oldest was almost 5. We would just order a single fajita and the whole family would eat that. We used to go to Gatlinburg at least once and sometimes twice a year. We would always come here Sunday after church a week or so before our trip and plan our itinerary on one of their paper placemats. For quite a while they were the only Tex_Mex in town. Soon after Smyrna passed liquor by the drink they started popping up everywhere. Sadly we gravitated away and tried "new" things. Well, we rediscovered Cozumel again after being first enamored and then disappointed by the others. We had fajitas that night. I did a reheat in a skillet the next night. My wife had it for lunch 3 days - I had it 2 days. Sad to say - a week later we discarded the rest and seriously - I think we threw away a couple of more meals! No...not because it was not good - there was just so much! Basically, we had 7 meals (9 if you count the leftovers we tossed) for less than $30 - you do the math. Granted - the food was best the first day, but was not bad the other days - especially the next day when I reheated in the skillet. We always get the pico and quac on the side. Granted quac browns quickly so use it ASAP, but everything else was fine. They have been the most consistent of all the others we have tried. We were there a couple of nights ago dining in and ordered a single mixed fajita. It was MORE than adequate for two people. I even had a loaded "soft taco" for the next day. Smyrna's original Tex-Mex - still Smyrna's best!
