I have been away from Oakland business district for many years. So I an surprised with this tiny Thai restaurant. I have been here a couple of times and ordered different items from the menu. I must say they haven't disappointed my tastebuds. Perfect blend of spice and ingredients. Fresh and perfectly prepared dishes. Good size servings and surprisingly efficient staff and courteous service. Clean and respectable ambiance for lunch crowd. This one can rival the Original Osha in SF. Owners pls don't change a thing. Was curious to try Express after trying most of the OSHA Thai locations in SF over the years and it was meh. Ordered chicken pad see ew and it was decent but the spicy string beans n chicken over rice was mostly rice, some chicken and a sprinkling of boiled string beans that weren't even stir fried and bland for $17 and waste of money. I am 1000% biased. Let us just start there. I have been in love with Osha Thai since I was in college. The love began with their calamari, expanded into their combination fried rice and became steady with their crab fried rice. I am forever grateful for the fresh taste, the lightness of the meal, and the beautiful flavors that are married in this dish. See - completely biased. I understand that the name says "Express," but it doesn't mean the food preparation is rushed. The dishes are absolutely amazing. It is in a great location for those in Oakland craving Osha Thai food. They are on doordash, GrubHub, and Postmates. Every single time I receive a delivery - my food is still hot and delicious. I wish their menu would expand, but I am only one voice. I need them to add more starters. Seriously this is an amazing experience and pure joy to finally have Osha Thai in Oakland. Great food. Somewhat small portions for the price. There is no service at this express location aside from the person bringing food to the table that was ordered at the kiosk. The inside of the restaurant was really cold to sit in for a while, but at least it was quiet. read more

The food here is DELICIOUS! The Pad See Ew is a really generous portion (good for two meals) and has a really yummy slightly caramelized taste to it that adds to the flavors of the dish. I've also had the Crispy Chicken Fried Rice dish and again the portion was so generous I had enough for two meals. It's a nice place to eat indoors, or they have a few outdoor tables. Ordered take-out from here and the food was ok. I got the pad thai with chicken, pad see ew with beef, and Angel wings. The angel wings were the best out of everything I ordered. It was coated in a delicious sweet and sour fish sauce which my partner ended up putting in the pad see ew to give it a bit more flavor. Both the pad Thai and pad see ew were lacking in flavor. Also, the noodles in the pad see ew were a bit too soft for my liking. Would give this place three stars, but the wings were so good I had to give another star! read more

So happy that this has opened! They have indoor and outdoor dining, as well as takeout. We ordered takeout in person and it only took 10 minutes. We tried the pad thai and fried pork plate. The pad thai was well flavored with chewy noodles and generous portions. The fried pork came with rice and a papaya salad. The papaya salad was our favorite - we got it spicy and it was limey, saucey, and had a really nice kick. The pork was well flavored, tender, and went well with the side sauce. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. read more

This place is legit! Don't let the name express mislead. It's very good quality just like their sf restaurants. Menu has the typical Thai food and as well some special ones. The Chinese restaurant I used to go to prior to the pandemic closed down and this Thai restaurant took its place. It was definitely a worthy replacement! My go to for Thai near where I work. I always order the pad see ew to go from the yelp app. It's really good! One thing I don't like that much though is the use of regular broccoli. Wish they had Chinese broccoli instead lol but it's a Thai restaurant. I tried the red curry once and the fried rice with fried chicken. The red curry is good! The fried rice with fried chicken was lacking flavor. I don't recommend that dish. If I find my pictures I'll be back to post! read more

On Friday night (5/31), I had the worst experience I have ever had at ANY restaurant - EVER. We ordered a bit late, it was almost closing time. When I arrived to pick up the to-go order, I noticed that the guy at the front who was packing to go orders was rather busy, so I sat down to wait. I overheard other customers complaining about the wait time of orders, and the accuracy of their orders, but I didn't really give it any thought. The guy brought out my order, and it was stapled at the top. I grabbed the order and walked out the door and headed home. Once I got home, I opened the bag, and saw that he did not include the Pad Kee Mao (my dinner) in my bag. Not sure if it was put into a different bag, or what happened. So I tried calling, and no one picked up. So I drove back to the restaurant, and told the same guy what had happened. He immediately tells me "You're wrong. It was in the bag!" and began to argue with me and got a complete attitude, and told me "Come back tomorrow!" and refused to address me. I've never had anyone at any restaurant treat me that way. He did not apologize, nor did he do anything to help. He gave me an attitude and acted like I was lying. Why would anyone drive 15 mins back to the restaurant for some very average Pad Kee Mao? Did he think I enjoyed being there? He was a TOTAL asshole and utterly unhelpful and was resentful and completely disrespectful. I will NEVER go back to this restaurant and will tell everyone I know to do the same. It's a shame for the restaurant, as we were ordering several times (3-4 times) a month, and were always spending $100 each time. No more. Take your chances when you go here, and doublecheck your to go order before leaving. If you order delivery from them, you are DEFINITELY taking your chances. read more

I am a big Thai fan and was happy to try Osha for lunch. The restaurant is fairly small with somewhat limited seating, but it is conveniently located and has a wide selection of traditional Thai dishes. You can order in person or online, which is super helpful. I ordered online and it took about 20 minutes at noon on a Thursday. I went with their Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodle) with chicken and medium spicy (they have a clear spice level listed when ordering online, which is nice). The dish was tasty with a good heat level, but the noodle-to-veggie ratio was lower than I would have preferred. The portion was a normal size and I can get probably two small meals out of it, but at the same time, I can also find some great lunch meals in the same area for $2 to $5 less. I found their $17 (plus tax) price to be hard to swallow. This will be a "every once in awhile splurge" for me. read more

Went to this Osha Thai location for take out for my first time on 08-16-23. I really liked this OSHA Thai Express. It's really convenient for that busy night when you need some delicious Thai food that is prepared well and ready for pick up fast. I especially like the Pad Thai as it was loaded with shrimp. Other Thai take out places tend to be a bit stingy with the number of shrimp in a their dishes, but not this Osha Thai Express. They also have a very pleasant indoor seating arrangement. This business needs to get their s*** together. They never seem to be open, and they have conflicting information online as to what their hours actually are. Google says they are open until 9:00 p.m. but their website in the specific link to their location on 23rd Street in Oakland lists them as being open until 10:00 p.m. on Friday and saturday. I tried placing an order via the online ordering options and they all would only let me place an order for the next day. I tried calling the restaurant and after seven times of trying to call they finally answered only to tell me that they're only open until 9:00 and they don't know why it says 10:00 p.m. I've tried ordering from here in the past with similar issues about the incorrect information being listed on their website as to their hours. I really wish whoever manages this would actually pay attention to the details because the hours that you're open is pretty important for business and I'm constantly surprised at how many businesses neglect updating that information online so they end up losing out on customers and frustrating other people who think they still have time to order. I'm not going to bother trying again here since it seems pointless after multiple tries and them never being there or even answering their phone because everyone's too damn afraid of voice conversation as opposed to text and online ordering BS. read more

It's not even that it wasn't spicy there was NO spice. The individual components were okay, and the chicken wings were actually good, but I have to admit I nearly cried when I tried the pad khee mao. I am on an extremely tight budget and getting food delivered is a once in a blue moon treat for myself when I've had a really hard day.
