Strolling on Grand Avenue, I was hoping to find a place where I could have a relatively quick lunch since I was on my way to a haircut. I probably could've been a few minutes late since I don't have that much hair to cut, but I just wanted to respect my appointment time for my haircutter's sake. There was no problem with me being late because unfortunately this wasn't a memorable dining experience. The woman running the front of the house seemed convivial with her customers. Just not to me. It didn't bother me until I noticed how she spent time being above-and-beyond with the younger customers. She simply took my order, and that was it. I ordered a rather bland dish, the $14.95 Vietnamese-Style Cabbage Salad with shards of dry chicken breast. It featured carrot, mint leaves, peanut, fried onion, and a rather tasteless fish sauce (Photo 7). She didn't come by to see how I was doing, and I had to go up to her stand to pay the check. Like I said, I didn't give it much thought. At least until I wrote this review. FOOD - 2 stars...I made the choice, but it was pretty bland and flavorless AMBIANCE - 2.5 stars...nothing noteworthy here SERVICE - 2 stars...already went into it in my review TOTAL - 2 stars...not a memorable experience RELATED - Exploring Oakland? This is my go to spot for no frills Vietnamese when I'm near the lake. I love their iced coffee and usually get the pho or a vermicelli bowl. The staff is always kind and welcoming.

It was my first time walking into Miss Saigon in Oakland. One of the places that happened to be open late night. The place is comparably small but welcoming. Somehow, the ambiance could make you feel as if you're in Vietnam. I think the noodle soup will do justice for the people who love Pho. We ordered chicken thighs on the side and i personally didn't like it. It was too oily and flavorless. Soup was rich and comforting. I loved it. Service was polite and nice. The ice tea is good as always. Worth trying!

First time here, I ordered to go.... I walked in and young server immediately greeted me and offered me a menu and a table to sit at.. I explained I was ordering TO GO and server showed me to the counter After I placed my order food was ready in about 10 minutes I ordered won ton soup and my friend ordered #50 Soup was really good and flavorful, really hit the spot for me My friend enjoyed his meal Prices are reasonable Inside is well decorated and there is a lot of seating available Restaurant has beer and wine only Menu is extensive Parking is street parking only and parking can be hard to come by as it is on a busy street

Located on Grand Ave between all the other restaurants and shops. Parking is kind of tricky. There is no private lot. You are limited to metered street parking. We were lucky, up the street from the restaurant across from the laundromat someone just pulled out. We went to restaurant depended if we can find parking. They have both inside and outside dining. When we arrived a couple was eating right outside the entrance, sort of on the wide sidewalk. Another table filled up across from them. When we entered the restaurant there were 4 other tables full of people. We were offered a table and sat down. Soon as we sat down we were given menus and water, lemon flavored water I believe. It had a citrus taste to it. It was very pleasant. On the table under glass they also have a menu and pictures of their Banh mi sandwiches. They looked so good I ordered the BBQ pork Banh mi sandwich. I had it minus the pate. I didn't notice the jalapeños until I took my 3rd to last bite and bit into one and boy was it hot. Next time I'm going to say no jalapeños. The sandwich was good. Not overly filling. I could have fit some dessert in, but it wasn't offered. I would have enjoyed a sweet treat to end my meal as I wasn't overly full. My honey ordered the Grilled Shrimp Vermicelli and enjoyed it. I tried it, it was good. Service. The waitstaff were pleasant, they refilled our water without us needing to flag them down. I'd go back and see what else is on their menu.

    Chow Mein, Crispy Noodles

3345 Grand Ave Oakland, CA 94610 I was in the Grand/Lakeshore area, and I decided to stop by this place and grab some takeout. The staff were very friendly, and answered my questions. I ordered the Prawn Chow Mein w/ crispy noodles. Now, I expected that their recipe might be a bit different than a Chinese recipe. But the chow mein was dry and bland. I probably used three packets of soy sauce, and it still had no flavor. The toppings were beautiful.....prawns, carrots, celery, broccoli, onions, etc. But not enough gravy to moisten the crispy noodles. But the next day, the chow mein was much better.

This is my go to spot for pho and egg rolls. My food is always good and ready in little to no time. The service is always good and they are all friendly.

The staff is so welcoming and so nice. The food is very rich in flavor, combine with 35yrs snack juice (IYKYK)! This place open late night if anyone craving for a hot bowl of pho this is a place to go. The atmosphere makes you feel like you're in Vietnam!

I would say 3.5 stars. Friendly and prompt service with ample indoor and some.outdoor tables to sit and enjoy your meal. Very easy and accessible location Om grand ave so hard to miss it :) We shared lemongrass tofu, garlic noodles, beef broccoli and veg fried rice. Food was good but not exceptional or anything or that sorts. Would love to be back to try their pho though...

    Hue Banana Wrappers
    Kathleen P.

Why does this place only have 3.5 stars?! The waiter was incredibly friendly and made a point of letting us know that their pho broth is brewed from bones which very few places do since it takes time. The service was super attentive, too. I tried Hue Banana Wrappers for the first time, and let me tell you, the sauce was chef's kiss. I also had the beef noodle soup, adding a squeeze of lemon, hoisin, and mint--pure comfort in a bowl. Tried a bite of a rice plate as well, which was equally satisfying. Cozy, comforting, and definitely worth a try!

Super friendly staff! Phones so tasty and I really enjoyed the bbq chicken ban mi Easy parking out front. - metered during the day Had the chicken pho and would recommend. Can choose small or large bowl. Fountain w/ Koi fish was really cute!

Shrimp chips were fun and the dressing had a great balance of sweet, and vinegary flavor with lots of chicken and fresh veg. Pork bahn mi was just okay. I've definitely had better. Bread was good. Meat was pretty sparse and the pickled veg could have had more flavor. Probably would order the pho next time. Everyone seemed to have that on their tables. And the sizzling beef looked great. I brought my friend for her to try a new viet spot since she typically only goes to one spot and she absolutely loved it! Our favorite was the Banh Khot which are mini crispy pancakes with shrimp. I was not expecting it at all. They definitely do not joke about their servings. My friend got the Bun Bo Hue, lemongrass beef soup, which was better than other ones I've had in Downtown Oakland but not as lemongrassy as I like. My fiancé had the vermicelli bowl which he said was pretty good with all the stirred fried tofu, veggies and mushrooms. What was surprising the most was the Vietnamese pancake. It was so good that I would come back for just this appetizer. It has a crunchy texture on the outside, but the inside was so creamy. Wrap that with a lettuce and dip in the fish sauce and wow!
