Stopped in for lunch while in town on business. The restaurant was obviously shortstaffed due to some flu going around town, but you can tell that they were busting their butts to get everyone taken care of. While service was a bit slow, they were really moving. Also, they were very friendly despite being short staffed. Had the veggie fajitas with guac and it came with two sides, I had potatoes and black beans (once I found out they didn't contain lard). Fajitas came out in a lava bowl instead of skillet but were hot and tasty. They use more and different types of veggies than most places, much appreciated. Beans were very tasty and the potatoes were too. A little oily but with a good rosemary taste. Flour tortillas were better than expected this far north. Salsa didn't have much heat but you can ask for their homemade sauce which was tasty and had great kick. Would recommend. read more

The signature veggies were soaked with oil and not hot, the red potatoes were completely under seasoned and appeared to have been sitting around, the fish was a bit over cooked and bland. The manager care up to the table and tried to press happy hour on two people who do not drink. Awkward experience to say the least. Absolutely delicious. I was pleasantly surprised because we got this delivered to work. It cane fresh, hot and delicious. We met some friends for lunch at Osorio's the other day. We enjoyed the food and an hour of conversation in a relaxed atmosphere. Our server appeared promptly for our drinks order and brought us some chips and a tasty salsa to munch on before our food arrived. I noticed fresh cilantro in the salsa -- usually a sign that it is mixed up in house instead of coming out of a jar. I ordered their Cuban sandwich and opted for tortilla soup instead of a salad. The portion was ample and I enjoyed it -- but be forewarned that though they call it a Cuban sandwich (and the meat is seasoned Cuban style) it is NOT a traditional Cubano. The pulled pork was nicely roasted and seasoned but the avocado and tomato did not bring much flavor, brightness or texture to the party. Overall it lacked the tanginess and punch that pickles and mustard bring to a traditional Cubano, and the toasty, crispy bread that results when cooked on a sandwich press. The soup was fine. The tortillas and a hit of lime juice were added table-side. I crumbled in some of the appetizer chips to supplement the tortilla strips. It is also worth noting that one of our party is a vegetarian and there were suitable options on the menu for him. Every one else enjoyed their selections. Too bad other reviews are not as positive. I really did enjoy the food at Osorio's. It has a different twist on other Latin food. I really liked the appetizer we had - Ceviche. Also, the black and white whitefish was excellent, with the vegetables and Parmesan potatoes. Also, had a fantastic "spicy" martini - give it a try (has jalapeno but cooled with a mulling of cucumber - very nice mix!). The only feedback I would have is the ambiance - nice overall, but the middle of the restaurant is too open and "loud." They need to find a way to make the overall feel more cozy and not as open - match what they are trying to deliver. read more

My wife and I have been in quite a bit lately as it was convienently located for a later dinner after furniture shopping. We have always stopped in from time to time for their excellent happy hour and margaritas, but we sort of let ourselves forget how exceptional their food is. Within seven days, we were in twice and each time we left very, very happy. During that time we had the AguaChile ceviche and tortilla soup as our appetizers. The ceviche was excellent, and quite unique with the green sauce with lime. We both loved the tableside tortilla soup, which was a different way to serve it. The broth for the soup was full flavored, and as you would expect in this kind of soup, was the highlight. For our main dishes, between us, we had the carne asada, molcajete mixed grill, and shrimp ala Espana. The carne asada was perfect - tender, beefy, well seasoned and served with their black beans and veggies. The shrimp ala espana was quite good with perfectly cooked shrimp and nicely seasoned chorizo. The highlight was the molcajete mixed grill! This was a massive amount of shrimp, chicken, steak and carnitas, and some veggies, served in a big, hot lava rock. The seasoning of the entire dish was spot on, and each protein was cooked quite well. However, I have to single out the carnitas as some of the best I've ever had. The only slight letdown was the one night we had dessert - their cheesecake was good, but not great. Their drinks deserve to be called out as they are worth coming in for just by themselves. There are a number of times we just sit at the bar with some apps and have a few of their wonderful signature margaritas. Overall, Osorio's has provided wonderful meals and service. We will not hesitate to come back. read more

I recently promised myself that I would only rate a restaurant 5 stars if they totally blew my socks off. Well, here I sit, barefooted, writing about Osario's. The place looks great. Very elegant, clean, well-designed with a nice ratio of booths and tables. There's wonderful Latin music playing, and there's just enough "customer noise" in the background to give the place a friendly vibe without being distracting. Some serious sound engineering went into designing this place. The host was friendly and helpful, and the wait staff even moreso. Let's get to the food. Oh boy. The food was amazing. Because I prefer to eat a vegan diet, I am always apprehensive about Mexican and Latin restaurants. Lard in the refries, cheese and cream everywhere. Not so at Osario's. The Black Bean Refries are vegan and they are delicious! The cook is very imaginative and flexible, and can make just about any dish vegan or gluten-free. They take a lot of care and pride in their work. I ordered the vegan version of the Molcajete Mixed Grill, which was super hot (temperature) and mildly hot (spices) and fabulous. Lori ordered the Seafood Burrito, which she loved. Both meals came with two sides, which were yummy. I really can't say enough about this place. This is restaurant week. What varied interesting menu, included: gluten free, vegetarian. Food excellent great flavors, lovely plating, correct temperature. Offered halibut, steak, & chicken. Sides rice with poblano pepper, & a bean, corn, & kale side, I'm not a fan of kale and am picky this was good. Portions appropriate. Desert was flan with a sauce & chocolate, just a kiss off coriander. The chef is so creative with flavors and textures. This was the best Mojito since I was in Aruba, I had the plain. I went there for the first time. The chips and salsa, queso dip were delicious so I was excited for my meal. I ordered the enchiladas. When my meal came it was such a disappointment. It was almost inedible. The tortillas were so tough I couldn't cut through them. There was also nothing inside them at all! I ordered the chicken enchiladas and there was one sad piece of chicken on top of the empty enchilada. The rice was okay but the vegetables that came with it were not at all. We ate here last night and let's just say, if I could give zero stars I would. I'm not going to blame our server because she was obviously pretty new and a little uncertain on what to do. I can look past the service if the food is good (for the most part), but that wasn't the case last night. I was already a little nervous when the people sitting behind us complained about their food and the manager went over to talk to them. I'm ordered enchiladas with steak and verde sauce and it was very obvious that my food was microwaved because the tortillas were so soggy. I'd also be willing to bet my steak, while probably cooked on a skillet initially, was also warmed up in a microwave because of the way each piece curled and the fact that there was zero pink. Beyond that, there was just no flavor. I easily could've made that better at home and I'm not that great of a cook. My husband's food, though, was far worse. He ordered mahi mahi tacos and the fish was definitely off. It tasted like it was about two months old and then had been left sitting out for a few hours before it was microwaved and then served to him. And again, zero flavor. I tried it and felt sick almost immediately. As of right now, my husband is still feeling okay and I think he might've gotten lucky in not getting food poisoning from his meal. Both of us didn't each much, although I'll admit I ate most of my steak just because I was hungry. If our waitress had had more experience, she probably would've noticed we weren't eating our food and asked us about it sooner. Granted, we could've (and should've) said something before she brought us our check and asked if we wanted boxes, but at that point, both of us felt sick and wanted to leave as soon as possible. After both of us explained what was wrong with our food, you'd think a manager would've come over to talk to us but that didn't happen. My husband's food was taken off our bill but that doesn't account for my terrible meal too, especially since a manager never talked to us. It's not like we were looking for special treatment, but we'd seen the manager talk to the table behind us for the same reason not even a half hour before and expected he would do the same. Yes, we could've asked to speak to the manager and after we left, we wished we had, but like I said, both of us weren't feeling well and wanted to leave as soon as we could. I don't often write reviews, but this was one of the worst meals I've had at a restaurant in a long time. Had a manager talked to us to try to make it right, I might've just left it alone and we would've just talked with our feet and not come back. This restaurant is fantastic. We enjoyed every minute of it. We arrived around 7:30 pm, came in the back door and a waitress immediately ran over to seat us and explain the other door is the front door and that's where the hostess is. Our server was nice and friendly. The queso and salsa were great, the chips as well were great and not greasy. My signature margarita was outstanding, so I had 2. I am a plain eater. I got the steak quesadillas and the tortilla soup. Both were outstanding, the white tequila sauce was so delicious. My husband got the inside out burrito and he said is was just delicious, the steak was grata and not chewy. The prices are more than reasonable. You could eat here for the same price as HuHot, have really great food and leftovers! You can tell the chef puts a lot of effort into everything, sauces were great. The menu is a bit confusing, lots of things we had no clue what they were so we just skipped those items. The restaurant is clean, tables spread apart, booths big and comfy, bathrooms cute and very clean. The only thing I'm disappointed in is that we haven't tried this sooner! Well, we've been wanting to try this restaurant for some time. We had the chance after seeing a show at the PAC, and decided it was time to go out for a great meal! The raves: Loaded Queso Dip! Visited Osorio's for the first time this weekend and it was fantastic. They have a decent selection of beer on tap, and my date said his mixed drink was very much "wisconsin-style"...i.e. mostly booze. The restaurant is spacious and a a little of the beaten path in Appleton, near the Timber Rattlers Stadium. The crowd for Saturday night was pretty small...hopefully this business doesn't become a victim to lack of traffic. The menu is a simple two page menu of "Latin Fusion" choices. Free chips and salsa accompany entree orders. I opted for steak and chicken fajitas, poblano rice and spinach-y vegetables. I totally had order envy of my date, who ordered a chicken breast, stuffed with cheesy goodness, lightly breaded and coated with mole sauce. IT WAS delicious. I will order that the next time...but the name of the dish escapes me. The service was adequate and good. Not overwhelming with the perfect amount of times for our waitress to check in. The only odd part is that the host/hostess station is in the middle back of the restaurant...or maybe there's a second entrance? (Not sure on that). Go here, experience new food tastes! read more

The menu here was really fresh! It included standard Mexican items found in Wisconsin like burritos, tacos and nachos but went above with seafood offerings, cajun fashion and even some pastas. The food is generally ok but the last two times I have experienced service that leaves something to be desired. I ordered lunch to pick up and picked a time 10 minutes before I could be there. Still waited 10 minutes. When I expressed my disappointment the server told me the order read that it wasn't even due yet but the time on the receipt for pickup proved she was lying. I thought I would give it another chance because a friend wanted to go. She ordered a wrap with shrimp in it and they were undercooked so she sent it back. It returned still undercooked. They still had that shine and translucency and cool temp but the server argued and muttered crappy comments as she walked away with the plate. I ordered eggchilada and the enchiladas were relatively void of filling. And one of the shells had hard inedible pieces. I will never be back. My last service here was disappointing. the food remained top notch but our server was sub-par. She rarely checked on us (a large party of 6) and was half hearted at best. This was extremely disappointing as we had chosen this restaurant as host/ess pay res I am happy to support local, pay reasonable price for good food but service is integral to the experience. It may be a lack of training or an apathetic waitress, either way it dampened the evening. A pleasure to experience! The staff on top of their game, the food is tip top. Fresh, flavorful and unique. Great care was taken with my partners gluten free vegetarian food. (He has Celiacs Sprue and Gluten is dangerous to him.) Our picky 12 year old niece was happy with everything. Chose this restaurant somewhat based on reviews but also on curiosity about the fusion part and Latin mystique. So we headed out to celebrate my wife's B-day, day after Christmas there. The big ceilings make the place boomy and reverberate perhaps a bit much and it has a Mex-horns feel I think more than a Latin Samba, flamingo, guitar music ambiance that I expected. But although those could have added a significant layer for the immersive impact, the food was the hit for us to be sure. We had a house specialty and a more typical dish: the Filet Osorio and the grilled Mahi fish tacos. After a fruity moscato and blood orange martini that were a perfect prelude with crisp chips and a mild tasty salsa, the order came out timely. The tacos were ample and flavorful and the Mahi, moist and flakey. The Filet I ordered med-rare was -perfectly done; the crab-Nopalitos /cream sauce really, so outstandingly savory, yikes, when merged with each tender-petite filet forkful, did that eye-roll back in my head-thing, I've got to admit. The Latin-rice side and saluted vegetables enhanced it even more! We finished up with a for-2 fried ice cream dessert that was just enough for us. So if you can increase the amount of Latin Salad to Tuna pieces that would be AWESOME! You would think I needed more Tuna but it was more than enough pieces. I could have eat this dish everyday! The food (and drinks) were absolutely delicious. The chips had a seasoning on them that made them different and tastier than your run of the mill pre-meal chips and salsa. The margarita was excellent and it was obvious they don't use a sugar filled pre-made mix. The chicken enchiladas used seasoned grilled chicken instead of shredded chicken most places use. I highly recommend getting the poblano rice as a side, very tasty. My fiancé got the chicken and steak fajitas which were also great. Food was good but nothing special. I had the special "Rack of Lamb" which was cooked perfectly but the mint and jalapeno pepper sauce was only mint no sign of spice or heat. The portion was fairly small for Wisconsin standards. The pablano rice was average but the veggies were very good. My wife had dish that was to be served in tortilla shells but the shrimp came with the tails one. Kind of strange for dish to be made into a taco like dish. The dish looked great but had very little flavor. Prices are steep, wait staff was very friendly. Nothing here to make we want to go back anytime soon. read more

We had osorios cater for a wedding shower. It was a horrible experience from start to finish. We had a first meeting and went through everything we wanted. We ended up having a second meeting and she had lost all of our notes so we had to start all over with deciding on menu items. We told her exactly how much we wanted to spend and when she sent us our quote it was over double how much we wanted to spend. And on the quote included items that we never even chose ! Trying to get a hold of her was near impossible! She was always too busy to talk or not in the restaurant. This was over a 2 month time frame too! Then to top it all off the day of the event they were supposed to be here at 11 and did not get to our house until 1145! And we still haven't gotten the invoice ! It was a horrible experience There are so many restaurants that are struggling right now during the pandemic I wanted to make sure people knew how bad it was to work with those Osorios so we can make sure to give business to these other businesses. read more
