I was excited to try this place, especially because they offered some vegan options, but my meal was overall disappointing. We came there around 11:30am (the day after Thanksgiving) and knew we would have to wait which was fine - it turned out to be 45 minutes, a little longer than what they estimated. We finally got seated and the place had cleared out and slowed WAY down, but our food took SO long, probably a half hour of more, even with only a few tables filled at this point. I ordered tostados with sautéed veggies and it was lukewarm and such a small portion - just two small tostados with maybe a quarter cup of veggies. Due to a dairy allergy, I ordered it vegan and had to omit the slaw, cheese and sour scream. You'd think they'd include more veggies for the vegan version and the same price you pay for all the dairy stuff, but the veggies were very few. I don't have a huge appetite, but it was pretty pathetic. I'd suggest serving it with potatoes, adding more veggies or a third tostado. Also, the cold salsa on top likely contributed to the food being lukewarm so that should go on the side. The ingredients seemed high quality and the employees were cool and friendly, but the portion, temperature and value of my meal was lacking majorly. read more

We love this neighborhood cafe in Seaside! Off the beaten path, it's worth the usual long wait for the unique menu with Latino-inspired fare and great coffee. Start it off with a fresh-baked pastry and then one of my favorites: the Arepas or the Avocado Toast. If you're feeling traditional, the Sausage and Tomato Omelette or the Pancake Breakfast are equally delicious. Lunch sandwiches are still worth the wait, so if the line is long, just stay and wait for it! Enjoy outdoor seating in the summer or the cozy fireplace atmosphere when it's rainy and cold. My friends and I (9 of us) stopped here for lunch; we'd never been here before. We were seated promptly and suddenly realized it was only about 20 minutes before closing. But our server, Tanner, who was terrific, by the way, assured us it was okay if we stayed. I loved the cozy fireplace and the art on the walls, and our food was delicious. Was surprised and excited that a place like this was so close to our hotel! We popped in for breakfast one morning and though it is small and busy, we were able to be seated outside to eat. Thankfully the sun was out or it would've been too cold. The service was really great! Our waitress was on it and gave great recommendations when asked. She kept filling drinks without being asked, and was attentive and friendly. The FOOD...was so good!! All of it. The chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, and the burrito were all super good. The first two are different, with their own take...but so so good! The French toast IS a custard style (which we had never had before, so didn't realize it would be that way). Our eight year old wasn't a fan, so we quickly got pancakes for him. But they were pretty tasty, just not the normal French toast you get elsewhere. This is place was such an awesome find! Off the beaten path and amazing food! Literally something for everyone. They even had a vegan breakfast hash that was absolutely delicious! Perfectly cooked potatoes (even purple sweet potatoes), fresh seasonal vegetables, and well seasoned without being overly salty or oily. We also shared a scone that was sooo good. We ask the girl that appears to be working behind the counter if we can have a drink while we wait. She says, "Sure, give me just a couple minutes." About fifteen minutes pass and she is almost positively pretending we forgot. We hadn't. We finally get seated on the stools in the back that had been open the entire time we were waiting, but it's cool. We sit. And sit. And sit. No one is coming over. The menus are on the bar already, so I assume they hope they can just come over after we've already decided and get our drinks AND food order in at the same time. No. How about you take drink orders first like a normal restaurant. I get tired of waiting and having my searching gaze avoided by everyone in the tiny building, so I ask a girl bussing a table if we can get drinks and holy goddamn, the look she gave me in response could've killed a horse and the "uh...okay..." that followed was laced with a toxic attitude that confirmed we'd wasted the last half hour of our lives. I've eaten here twice, once in the restaurant and once for takeout. Both times it was so good. They can get busy but the staff is very friendly. They have daily specials and nice sized portions. The menu has quite a variety too. Last time I had the eggs with oysters and potatoes. Very flavorful. My sister had a smoked salmon omelette with a side of bacon. I got the Chefs breakfast and it was the perfect amount of food to keep my tummy satisfied. I chose to have my 2 eggs poached; and they were eggcelent (I'm sorry I had to (*´｀*)), they also gave my really thicc slices of whole grain toast, much thicker then the sour dough toast. It also came with a tiny bowl of fruit: blueberry, strawberry, grape, melon, and I tini banana piece. The interior was cute and the table had a little display of money from all over the world under the glass. That was really cool and kept us entertained until we got our food. Totally disappointed in the staff and food. Snotty cashier, food was under cooked, ordered avacado toast w poached eggs, bread not toasted, eggs watery. Presentation was lame, we were sitting outside and we handed a box. No salt or pepper, had to clean off the table and we charged a six dollar fee for a to go order. Within walking distance from the beach and in a nice neighborhood. This place seems to be really well known within the area, because they recognized a few of the locals. In a town filled with lovely, but unremarkable greasy spoon brunch spots, osprey Cafe stands out for a unique and delicious menu. I grabbed the arepa meal with eggs and was super pleased. I'm not sure what country aprepas are native to, but they are corn meal and cheese cakes that are absolutely delicious. They had a fried rice and eggs dish that sounded good too but I only had one chance here and there are only so many calories a guy can consume at once. Came for the arepas but enjoyed everything! There is a wait on the weekend but it moved quickly. My mom and I shared the breakfast burrito, potato hash and the arepas. The arepas were fluffy and the salsa was delicious! Perfect complement and very affordable. The potato hash was my favorite thing. Soft potatos, sweet carmelization, some crisp... So much yum! Maybe an off morning? But I don't understand these 5 star ratings. I'm a medical traveler, so I go to restaurants by myself a lot. A LOT. It amazes me how many places treat people eating by themselves like lepers. I chose this place because I have never had an arepa, and I'm always down for something new. I ordered over easy eggs. They came out hard as a rock. The server never came back to check on me. When the person clearing plates asked how everything was, I asked if over easy meant something different in the area. She said, "no, they should have been runny, sorry" and walked away. $16 for a meal that wasn't what you asked for is ridiculous. I rarely tip only 10%, but, frankly, even that wasn't earned. This is my favorite off the strip secret. Shhhh, don't tell anyone. It is one of those great places with anything you could want, a charming atmosphere and friendly small-town service. It's a block from the beach but way south of the main tourist town center. The french toast and bowls are two of my favorite items. A must anytime I'm out at the beach.
