I had used them once b4 for an oil change and I found them through Google and the reviews for Ossies were very good,especially by women. My inspection was past due and they took me in pretty quick and I met Ossie himself. He is very kind and explained what I have to keep up on a 13 yrold Buick lacrosse with only 51 thousand miles on her. Very kind and he cared and they offer a ride to and back to the shop if it's an all day job. That is something I would need as I am fairly new to the area. I will 100% recommend Ossies and I found my mechanic! When you move and have to find all new services who won't rip you off,being a single woman is difficult. Be very careful they had our car for a routine inspection but said due to an issue that would need to be addressed and cost upwards of $700. + And up. I felt uneasy and We brought car to another mechanic who looked the entire car over with a fine tooth comb and he couldn't understand what they were talking about. He also said the part in question shouldn't cost more than $50- $100.00 And Said no such issue existed at all. He even kept the car longer to make sure. read more

My friend asked me to bring his car in to get the NYS inspection (he's recovering from a broken leg). He says he gets all his work done at Ossie's in Bohemia. I had never been there so I was curious as to what it was like. Well let me tell you this, it was wonderful! The receptionist was a doll, the waiting room had nicer furniture than my living room, and the bathroom was exquisite! You can tell a lot about a place by how the bathroom looks and it was very nice! You could tell the owner put some money into his business, and cared about his customers impressions. They did the inspection in a timely manner, and I was very happy with my entire experience. Laura was good about getting me in for a NY State Inspection at 8:30a:m prior to her 9:00 a:m appt. I felt very welcomed and the hospitality was nice. They gave me a thorough computer generated print out of the things I needed To have repaired before my car passed inspection. Boy am I thankful I found this place. Needed a pre-purchase inspection on a BMW. Ian found a million issues with it - prior damage not reported to CARFAX, codes being thrown, oil dripping, etc etc. He knows BMW's inside out. Obviously I didn't buy the car. I have passed by here so many times on my way to work that when I needed some work done to my car, I figured I will try out Ossie's and have it done here. Huge mistake. They kept my car for five hours and then text me a report stating I don't just need the work done I came in for, I actually need close to $2,000 worth of work. So I said "can I just come pick up the car" and they said Yes. While I am there, Ossie goes on and on about a special brake fitting I have on my car and it is illegal. I pay for the oil change and take my car to another shop. 90% of what was suggested wasn't necessary, the mysterious brake fitting he stated was present wasn't and the total repair cost me $485. So he tried to take advantage and thankfully I said no. I will never come there and unbeknownst to Ossie, I come in contact with a large amount of people every day. Typically 15-20 and about 3,000 in a year. I will be telling them about my experience so they don't go there either. read more

I am informed of the health of my car by text message or emailed reports, with recommended services and pictures. A phone call gets you a staff member, or Ossie himself to answer any questions. They are never pushy to sell, just inform me of what's needed so I can make an educated decision. Ossie and his technicians are knowledgeable and professional. I rarely bring my cars to a mechanic for service since I do most repairs necessary. Of course my family's "fleet" of cars needs NY state inspection every year. I tried Ossie's a few years ago and I'll keep on going back. I never feel pressured into getting work done. They provide a fantastic electronic report viewable on your phone that details the results of their inspection with recommended services. I even have been having the place do repairs when I'm too busy with work to do myself. Repairs have been done correctly and at a reasonable cost relative to the parts costs. After 2400$ just to pass inspection, (I take care of my car, this was a first)! It still did NOT pass inspection!! So, a catalytic converter at 780$ (he pads the parts ) was not the problem an oxygen sensor was not the problem, (at 150) also padded price, tires , that he padded 20$ each was not the problem,after two weeks of "letting the computer reset" turns out another oxygen sensor was the issue!! So, me thinks he started with the most Expensive part FIRST !! You can't choose your family, but you can choose your car care !! I going back to FIRESTONE care centers. They were reliable. Still got good brakes three years later!!! NO COMMISSIONS at Firestone !! read more
