Osteria Marco in Fall 2020 was better than our experience yesterday. In order to make a reservation 3 weeks ahead, I had to pay a deposit of $15/per person to have a early father's day for my husband a few weeks ahead. Ok.. I get that. You want to guarantee seats to their tables. I was called the day before, to confirm our table, and made our adjustments to the quantity of guests of losing one person. No other information was shared. We arrived at our time and was greeted by a hostess that was very detailed; we were asked us to sign a waiver (name, number, email,) due to their COVID protocols and safety details, as well, told that we will be charged a 22% fee for 'employee fairness' and we can tip our server if we choose. Plus a 1% fee for COVID cleaning. This is very important for people to know. You will be charge 22% fee to eat here. no matter what. We filled out our names only- as I/we don't want anymore mailing lists and the form was explaining their cleaning process and time limits of two hours. They don't need my email for that and COVID is lowest risk as all their staff either wear a mask or rubber bracelet that says they were vaxx'd. While filling out the forms, a man comes in off the street, not wearing any mask and asks to use their bathroom. Hostess with the most-est pointed him in the direction- guess what?!? He didn't fill out of waiver for COVID protocols or safety or pay to use the restroom. He just entered and walked in, gaiter/mask free and walks by the enter bar to get there. GROSS. Our waitress, she was lovely to meet. She was attentive and focused. Like, a hunting dog on a pheasant hunt. We couldn't speak about anything on the menu-without her input. If she was in ear shot, she walked over to share her opinion. She upsold drinks to those drinking wine before reading the menu, she suggested like a pro. It annoyed the crap out of me. This was our time to eat, relax and enjoy a meal. You want to upsell to make more money. I will undertip automatically. Why? because overzealous fails during the actual process of serving. Coming to our table every 10min asking how our food/drink/service was before the main meal comes, made me want to eat at the bar where they could eat and drink without being interrupted often. We ordered our usual of pizza, pasta and salads, burrata, olives. This was delightful. I also can get these exact quality in Louisville,CO. These were ideal. creamy burrata. nice salad and perfect pasta and sauces. We also ordered roasted artichoke, crab cake, and garlic bread with the rest of tables main meals. Artichoke was raw. Only a few leaves were edible and left nearly whole on the table. Crab cake was mush. It wasn't lump, it was dense and stringy, heavy and covered in a sauce as well served the same on the side. In texture like a canned salmon patty soaked in lemon flavored cold sauce. Garlic bread was forgotten three times then came to the table by a busser who allowed us to be served a completely burnt garlic toast. I mean, charcoal. not in spots. The server who started strong, had come to the table witnessed this bread (we turned it blacked sides up) twice, didn't notice or care to mention these issues of uneaten artichoke, black bread, uneaten crab cake. She wanted the alcohol bill to grow more than than make sure we actually liked our meal. She upsold a wine to my husband like he was paying the bill... Time for the bill. She places in front of him. I paid our bill and your 22% for our car payment of a dinner. I had a salad, tea, as I am gluten and alcohol free. my dinner of crab cake, and artichoke was terrible and the service was focused on her bill increasing over any actual satisfaction. I most likely will never go back to this location and will go back to Capital Grille for better service for the same price. This service, hidden fees and bad food for me... Im done. Someone two other tables became vacant and were reset.... So we walked up to talk to the entitles hostess and was told we still had 13 minutes to wait. And the best part.... Is then someone randomly walked up and sat at one of the tables seconds after, who they explained there was a wait only to serve him regardless. I will start off with the good. The food was AMAZING. However, that is the best thing I have to say about the place. We made our reservations 3 weeks in advance. When we arrived we were informed about an additional 22% fee that is added onto the meal (not to mention an additional 1% fee that they didn't disclose), we asked the hostess if it was in lieu of tipping. She said no. I thought this might have been a mistake since it was loud, maybe she just did not understand the question. We asked the waitress and she said the same thing. No there is a 22% fee on top of the meal, and you still have to tip. I will admit I because a bit frustrated at the fact that when I made the reservation no one said anything about it. However, the fact that a meal (for four) consisted of two pizzas, and two salads was nearly $200, it was rather disappointing. I also found it shocking at how dirty the restaurant was. Next to our table was a large wooden island/bar, that had about 1/4 inch of dust on it. How could it get that dirty without any of the staff going "Oh maybe I should clean that... Gross"? After ~5 years of always making a point to come eat here, whenever we went to Denver, I do not think we will be coming back. It genuinely was an immense disappointment to see how far down hill they have gone, and how they are screwing over their customers. If you are okay with adding an additional 43% to the menu prices to factor in all the fees and tip, then this is a great place to eat. I like this place for a date night, a girls night, when family/company is visiting town, or you need someplace fast, yet high-end and delicious to eat before a show or sporting event. My fiance and I went here for an early dinner on a Sunday. I was a little worried about getting seated right away because there was a lot going on downtown, but it was very quiet. When it's just the two of us, we opt for the bar, which was very open. The wine list is a little overwhelming...and that's coming from a wine drinker. It is all in Italian and a bit hard to read. I ended up getting a couple of glasses of the 'Lagone' Aia Vecchia '16 Toscana (Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon). It was VERY good! For food, we shared the calamari and wild mushroom flatbread with truffle oil. The calamari was some of the best I've ever had. It was beautifully fried and it came on this delicious bed of warmed greens (spinach and arugula). (I was pleased with that because we were debating between a starter or a salad, so we kind of got a two for one!) And, the dish had a deliciously spicy kick! It comes with some red peppers that definitely had some heat. The bartender gave us a heads up. They were pretty hot, but I really like that. The tastes of this calamari were top notch and I kind of like that it seemed lighter than other calamari appetizers...and it didn't come with the cream/mayo aioli that it usually does, which I'm A-OK with. The flatbread was really, really good. I will have to say, it was a little bit oily, but it was still very tasty. Be aware, this is SUPER rich! If you can't handle very oily, creamy, truffly tastes, opt for another flatbread. But, it was good! The two of us had a full flatbread and a good-sized starter. We probably ate a bit too much, but it was good fuel for the rest of the night. I love the downstairs space. It is nice for an intimate time. There are TVs if you want to watch sports, but they usually don't have the TV sound on. The outdoor area is sweet too. It isn't big and this particular evening, it was pretty packed on the patio because it was a very nice night out. We ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts and they were super burnt and undercooked (probably because the pan was too hot when they put them in). Originally picked here because of restaurant week, but there were so many delicious items we ordered off the main menu! We took advantage of the happy hour specials which ran from 4-6pm, $2 off wine by the glass, $2 off some cocktails, and discounted appetizers. We started with the marinated olives, house made burrata, and calamari. The olives were so delicious and with so much variety! They had multiple different types of green and black olives, some pickles, garlic and even caper berries! Absolutely delicious! The house made burrata was so delicious we considered ordering a second!! Then split the Bucatini Carbonara, and oh my goodness was it delicious! Creamy, rich, with a hint of spice, and the bacon used was perfect! The house wine, violetta 75 and tap beer were all great as well! We sat outside, even though a little chilly there were fires that warmed it up and our waiter was very attentive and personable. Not only did the food come out in a timely fashion but they gave me some chocolate chip muffins as a treat for ordering online directly from them along with a note of appreciation! I came here many years ago and couldn't stop thinking about returning. Now that I finally got the chance, dare I say Osteria Marco might be my favorite restaurant in all of Denver?! The food here is a showstopper, but so is the decor. It's cozy and upscale, yet not overly so. And the burrata is a dream. My pasta was good but a bit over cooked (as is easy to do with gluten free pasta). But the burrata appetizer and extensive wine list more than made up for it. What's more, our waiter, Reed, was amazing, attentive, and so personable. Everything about Osteria Marco was Italian food done just the way it should be. For catching up with a couple of friends, this was a perfect spot. And I wouldn't hesitate to come here again for dinner, no matter the occasion! read more

Shared a very decently priced bottle of 2016 Damilano Marghe Nebbiolo Langhe, a 90+ point rated wine, for about $55 or so that matched perfectly with what all of us we were having. And then moved on to OM's really incredible butterscotch bread pudding which we shared for dessert. The server and the service were excellent and the only unfortunate (?) event of the night for me . . . Sitting next to Gregg Popovich coach of the Spurs who beat the Nuggets Saturday night and who are in town for a 3 game series that I hope ends up more successfully than it has started out. Located in the heart of Denver. This place has som pretty authentic Italian dishes. Highly recommend getting a truffle pasta and a pizza to share. Great for date nights! I know it's bread pudding, but at least add some raisins or apples. And instead of a bottled caramel sauce, how about a bourbon sauce from scratch? The ice cream was also a dismal experience. Probably breyer's with ice crystals (old). If you're going to add ice cream, make your own gelato, or buy it from a quality gelatoria. Definitely cannot recommend this bread pudding. So, the food...really nice, actually. Started with a Burrata share, moved to a house salad (excellent), then to a pizza - Wild Mushroom & Robiola (it's a cheese) with sausage (add-on), all tasty. I also love the caprese salad and the whole roasted artichoke. House olives. Any of the meat or cheeses. Of course there's a gorgeous selection of pastas and pizzas, but I usually stick with apps and the house red wine for $7. Can't go wrong. My fiance and I went here for lunch with his soon-to-be coworkers and we were thrilled to have found a genuinely delectable Italian spot! Service was exceptional (I drink a ton of water, and multiple servers were constantly coming over and replacing the carafe on our table) and the interior decor was cozy and inviting. We didn't get any wine since it was a quick lunch, but they had a wide selection. I will be sure to report on that front when we go back, because we certainly will be. The food was a dream and I felt it was reasonably priced, all things considered. I ordered the Quinoa Salad and my fiance went with the Prosciutto Pizza; both were divine. Found this gem of an Italian place purely by accident. We were down at the Chalk Festival when the sky was threatening to downpour, so we stepped inside for a bite to eat. We were led down a wide staircase that opens up into a large dining room/bar area. Our waitress immediately appeared with water and asked for our drink orders. BTW, Osteria Marco has one of the best wine lists I've seen in a while. Since we were stopping for lunch, we both ordered salads and decided to split a pizza. I ordered the House Salad which consists of Pine Nuts, Salami, Gorgonzola and Red Wine Vinaigrette. I love pine nuts, so I had to give this salad a try. My salad arrived and was large enough for a meal all on it's own. Beautiful in presentation and divine on the taste buds. I was beginning to wonder if I'd saved enough space for the Fig & Goat Cheese pizza we ordered. Mind you this piece of heaven on a pizza crust comes with Black Mission Fig, Arugula and Truffle Oil. And if that wasn't enough, we added Prosciutto di Parma to top it off. My word, pair this with a glass of the house red and you will be in a food coma. It's ok though, because when you wake up you can try one of their amazing desserts or a little dessert wine. I didn't particularly find the pricing out of line, but if you do it's most likely because the ingredients are high quality. We came here for our anniversary. I had tried to come here previously but the wait was CRAZY. For the anniversary we played it safe and made a reservation. This place is very nice! We the shared the house made burrata which was creamy and delicious (my mouth is watering just thinking about it). We also shared the artichokes, also very tasty! My husband got the bistro tender and I had the pizza. Ohhhh the pizza, its too freakin good! The crust was thin and the toppings were plentiful. I definitely recommend this place for a classy date night. Visited this place on a Saturday. Even though there was a snow storm that day the place was packed when we arrived at 8pm. That day happened to be during Denver restaurant week where the restaurant was promoting a good deal, 3 courses for $35. This might explain why it was crowded on a stormy day. We took advantage of the offer and started with the meatball sliders which comes in 3 pieces. Overall they were good and liked their sauce but wouldn't mind if the sauce was more richer, I mean same taste but a bit stronger. As the second appetizer we went with the Artichoke which was a disaster mainly because we had no idea which part was edible! I had to google it, even then felt too much work for so few calories. For the salads we went with the quinoa salad and the beet roots salad. Although both were just ok we liked the quinoa more cause it had more going on. For the main dishes we went with the wild mushroom pizza and the lamb shank. Although the lamb shank was great, the meat was tender that it fell of the bone, I enjoyed the pizza more. The truffle taste and smell of the pizza have it an edge. Overall a decent place to visit specially if you want Italian food that can be considered budget friendly then this place might work. When you enter Osteria Marco you immediately head downstairs to a cave type dining area. Very cozy and feels like your in an Italian wine cellar. I recommend the Sangiovese if your going for a drinkable wins by the glass. Must have: burrata with toast. So creamy so delicious We also had a Caesar salad with grilled shrimp. Besides that it's located in the Larimer section of downtown Denver that I'm currently enamored with. The mere mention of freshly made burrata everyday is another reason I can't pass going here any longer. I wasn't disappointed. Even though my order was based 100% on our awesome waiter Rick's(?) recommendation it was on point. The Braised Short rib was amazing! It was so flavorful and tender. I am definitely in love with this dish. It looks small but it's not and it packs it's wallop in the flavor it possesses. Their Butterscotch bread pudding was excellent. Our starter was the Meat and cheese platter. I had to order this. I must try their creamy Burrata. I wasn't disappointed. The Burrata was one of the best! The rest of the meat and cheeses were all top notch and fresh! My prosecco was a drink made to match my mood and our company's bubbly personality. I was very pleased with everything. The location was one of the sought after not the normal street level restaurant. It sits below the street with a flight of stairs that takes you down to the bar on your right and it opens up to the main dining area. The wall of wines just captured that spirit of Italy where you just want to eat, drink and be merry! The outside seating would be great to people watch. It's my next target. Short review: overrated. Long review: I wasn't half way through my salad and my pasta carbonara arrived. The restaurant and bar were nearly empty, so I doubt they were pushing for a high turnover of tables. Anyway, my pasta was swimming in a pool of something greenish-yellow. I thought it couldn't possibly be olive oil; it must be egg yolk. But I realized the egg was cooked nearly perfectly (bravo) and adhered to the spaghetti very well (I swapped it for their less traditional choice of bucatini). I was left to no other conclusion that it was actually olive oil. I hope I'm wrong. In addition to the foregoing, there was nary a hint of "carbonio" I'm my carbonara. In fact, the lack of any real taste was disappointing. I don't know if the guanciale or the pasta water were just very lightly seasoned, but there was not much taste to speak of at all. Lastly, when I was told they were out of the Super Tuscan I ordered, the bartender suggested a $12.00/bottle Motepulciano d'Abruzzo as an alternative. You be the judge. read more
