Osterio Marco is situated on one of the cutest blocks in Denver. The environment is cool, low noise, clean, bustling. We had an amazing server - Ken (ask for his tables!). He gave amazing recommendations and his service was OUTSTANDING. We had the house made burrata - it's a must. Followed by the mushroom pasta with truffle oil (to die for) and prosciutto pizza (so much prosciutto!!). The wine list is very nice but they also have a full bar. We ended our meal with limoncello and meloncello (they make their own cellos!). We will definitely be coming back to try more! read more

It was a Friday night and I had reservations so they sat us right away. The location is pretty good since it's in Larimer square and it was easy to get to. It was a nice day but it was so hot inside the restaurant but it wasn't too horrible. I ordered the rigatoni which was delicious. My only complaint was that the noodles were not as cooked as I'd like it to be. I also ordered a small arugula salad which just had cheese on it with a lemon vinaigrette dressing which was simple but perfect to start. I've friends living in Denver, so on my first visit to the city, I was told Osteria Marcos was a must. The photos on yelp gave me the impression this was a nice restaurant. Upon arrival, it seems that's what the owners had in mind, but didn't hit the mark. You go downstairs to find a big, open space. The service was sufficient, as was the food. The rabbit gnudi was good. It was $27. I wish there had been more gnudi and vegetables/greens in the dish. The proportion to meat was off for me. The scallops tasted a bit off to me as well... not very fresh. I'd expect more at $30 The grilled ciabatta bread was $5-6 and came cold. The caesar salad was OK at $7 nothing on it except a few croutons and a small sliver of white anchovy. I saw someone eating a quinoa spinach salad that looked very good. Well didn't we save the best for last. This meal was dubbed as The Last Super. And boy did we eat like Jesus and his Disciples. Piggies, piggies everywhere! A piggy above the sign outside will greet you as you arrive. Primal cuts piggy on the wall near the Charcusteria. A pencil like drawing of three angelic looking piggies above the stairway as you walk down to the dining room. A piggy on the Captains Wine list as well as a clever cocktail name called The Hog Tie that includes Whistle Pig Rye. Oh and don't forget that every Sunday night they have a special Slow Roasted Suckling Pig. This I was told by our wonderful server Katie, is usually sold out by 7pm so make your resie for the early time slots. We came here on the recommendation of "you MUST try the Lamb Meatballs". Got it, 10-4, we'll take an order of those for the table to start. These lamb meatballs are the epitome of foodgasm. Man Isa if you like my normal eatin ooo's and ahhh's you should have heard me while I was eating those meatballs. Put it this way, they were so darn good one in our group ordered a second round for his entree. The meatballs themselves were SO tender, juicy and moist. The smoked tomato sauce, my word will not do that sauce justice. Hands down the best balls I have had the pleasure of putting in my mouth and easy one of the top 10 dishes I have ever had. I will remember them forever. Our meal was hardly a meal and more like a feast. We gathered around dish after dish and ooed and ahhed them all. Pizzas here are incredible and the perfect way to kick of the meal - Carme Pizza (Sausage, Meatball, Pepperoni & House Ricotta) 5/5 - Margherita Pizza 5/5 Entrees - Stuffed Pork Loin (Roman Gnocchi, Tallegio, Sausage & Pepper Gravy) perfectly plated into a tower of savory treats. 5/5 easy - Grilled Flat Iron Steak (Crispy Parmesan Potatoes, Asparagus & Avocado Puree) such a vibrant colorful dish. The steak was pre sliced and cooked to perfection. They also let it rest the right amount of time. I have never had flat iron steak melt in my mouth and this one did. Again another 5/5 - Vegetable Lasagna was not "lasagna" BUT I was able to appreciate their playfulness and creativity behind it. There were no "lasagna noodles" but the vegetables were sliced super thin and then layered like lasagna. Good but it should be noted somewhere or at least told that there is no pasta noodles. 3/5 - Chicken Parmesan Sandwich WOW, really really good. Another dish that is good for sharing. 4/5 Other items - Turkey Salad (House Bacon, Marcona Almonds, Golden Raisins, Goat Feta) this salad had me at all the ingredients above. I couldn't have picked a more perfect salad. What was really impressive was that the turkey was shredded turkey and was still slightly warm. 5/5 - Chef's Assortment of Meat and Cheese (3 and 3) this was by far the most exquisite meat and cheese plate I have ever had. Yes the one at Amile in San Fransisco was large and beautiful but this one was real and had class. I choose the Burrata, Mozzarella and Ricotta as my cheese selection and ALL are made in house. Lightly dresses with olive oil, salt and pepper, these cheeses were so divine I had to eat them all even though I was so stuffed bc they just couldn't go to waste. My meats choices were Coppa (house cured), Prosciutto and Speck. We ate every last shred of perfectly cured meat. 5/5 Desserts: So simple. So delicious. Just the right size. - Bread Pudding 5/5 WOW you just need to get this and try it for yourself. Sweet, moist and that perfectly crispy top - Goat Cheese Pana Cotta (Special) topped with mint (not needed) and strawberries. This jiggled just the right amount and still stayed in tact and crumbled ever so slightly when you took a spoonful with mint 3/5 once we picked the mint off 5/5 (it would have been nice with basil instead of mint) - Nutella Chocolate Chip House-made Ice Cream 5/5 they had me at nutella. Service Katie, Katie, Katie.....did not bat a lash at our outrageous ordering. Eased us into every course and shared stories of her eating extravaganzas. A doll, a delight and truly gave spectacular service. I will for sure request her as my server when I return. YES I will be returning. I can seriously see myself making trips to Osteria Marco just like I make trips to Napa for fried chicken nights at ad hoc. Our group came here for dinner before heading over to see Stomp. Osteria Marco has been near the top of my list of restaurants that I want to try, for some time now. I am very glad that I was able to enjoy some lovely food here. Those of us who did not drink wine got out of here for just under $20 (including tax and tip). Our sixth person could not make it, so to honor their absence the five of us decided to split six items. (yeah, that is believable and makes us seem less gluttonous). We split three Panini, and three Pizzas. From each set, I had a "Winner", a "Runner-Up", and a "Loser--wish I had ordered something else". THE PANINI (Winner) Wild Boar Sausage: Caramelized Onions, Fontina, Creamy Horseradish Aioli. This was a very nice and earthy sandwich with good flavors. For me, it was the caramelized onions (of which there were plenty) than made this my top pick (by a narrow margin). (Runner-Up) Lamb Meatball: Arugula Pesto, Smoked Pepper-Tomato Jam, Goat Cheese. This was the most popular panini at the table, and it was easy to see why. The lamb meatballs were tender, flavorful, and not at all gamy. There were many complimentary tastes going on, and I would recommend this sandwich to anyone. (Loser) Cubano: House Cured Pickles, Ciccioli, Prosciutto, Provolone. We almost ordered something else, and I wish that we had. The pork on this is cooked in duck fat (which sounded great to me). But, I found the pork to have a very off-putting flavor and an unpleasant mouth-feel. This dominated the other tastes on the sandwich, and was the worst bite I had at dinner. Conclusion, don't get a Cuban sandwich at an Italian restaurant. Each panini was accompanied by a small arugula "salad" (most likely just arugula dressed simply with lemon and olive oil), but it was quite delicious and I polished off every last bite. THE PIZZA (Winner) Prosciutto San Marzano: Fresh Mozzarella, Prosciutto Di Parma, Arugula Salad. Over the past couple years I have become a total "arugula-slut". I just cannot seem to get enough of this peppery green. I like it on sandwiches, in salads, as a garnish, and I think it is the best pizza topping since someone put animal flesh on a pie. This was an excellent Prosciutto and Arugula pizza. In my mind, it was even better than the similar pizza offered by Marco's Coal Fired Pizza, but not quite as good at the one served by Via Baci. They had generous amounts of Prosciutto, and the arugula "salad" was piled in the middle, waiting to be spread about. I recommend this pizza without reservation. (Runner-Up) Margherita San Marzano Tomato, Basil, Mozzarella. Although this is the most traditional Italian pizza in the world (literally), I generally find it a bit boring. This one was packed full of basilly goodness, and was quite delicious. (Loser) Carbonara Pancetta, Egg & Pecorino Toscano. We ordered ours with two eggs on it. I loved the concept, and I really enjoyed my first few bites. It was creamy, rich and flavorful. That was while it was hot. As it cooled off, I enjoyed it significantly less. The flavor and texture seemed to suffer as it approached room temperature. My advice would be that if you order this pie, eat it first, and eat it fast. They have chili oil for dipping your crusts in. However, it was so mild to my palate, that I did not really see the point. The crushed red peppers were quite fiery, and the shredded cheese was "fresh" and sharply pungent. The dining space in this underground establishment is quite nice, even if the chairs are somewhat uncomfortable (a woven chair seat with raised corners). Our service was excellent up until the very end, when I think it took about five to ten minutes longer to pay the check than it should of (a minor complaint, but a pet peeve of mine). read more

Easily one of the best meals I've had in Denver. We decided on a whim to go out for dinner and walked in on a Thursday night. We started with a cocktail. I loved the Cucumber di Neve, with fresh basil and mint. The flavors, including passion fruit, were subtle and came together nicely. My bf's Chartreuse Siero was more striking and complex--really delicious. We tried the seasonal bruschetta, with goat cheese, speck, and tomatoes with a balsamic drizzle. It really surprised me with how delicious it was. I often dismiss bruschetta, but every ingredient (esp the speck) was top-quality and packed a wallop of flavor. The bread was not very toasted, but it allowed us to enjoy its chewy crust. I had a spicy tomato soup with a bit of cream and some goat cheese as well as some whole grape tomatoes. The red peppery spice really warmed me up, and it had good tomato flavor. The bf's roasted beet salad, with citrus, arugula and hazelnuts, was fresh and well-balanced. My entree (which was a generous portion that I couldn't finish after bruschetta and soup) was, to borrow a phrase from a favorite chef, "a flavor bomb"--in a good way. The mushroom & asparagus orzo had a mound of arugula and shaved parmesan atop it. It put any risotto dish to shame. The wild mushrooms were bursting with flavor, and the saltiness of the parmesan paired perfectly with that and the nuttiness of the arugula. The bf, whose grilled lamb was excellent (good meat grilled to perfection), was still jealous of my dish and kindly offered to finish what I couldn't. With dinner, the bf ordered a "handcrafted beer from San Marino." He normally doesn't drink Italian beers but thought he'd give it a try. He didn't like it, though it was the only part of the meal we didn't LOVE and it was certainly no fault of the restaurant. But when a staff member asked, "How do you like that beer?" he answered honestly, "it was just okay." He added later, "I just ordered a beer that I didn't like," because we soon learned that at Osteria Marco they want to be sure you enjoy EVERYTHING. Our server brought us a shot of their housemade nocello (walnut and hazelnut liquer) to go with the 'deconstructed tiramisu' we ordered for dessert. He did it to make up for the disappointment with the beer (which made the bf feel badly about being honest--it just wasn't his kind of beer). I'm so grateful he did, because I would never think to order something like that. It was so good, and it paired nicely with the amazing zabaglione and ladyfingers. All in all, this was a great meal with service that went above and beyond to make our experience a positive one. read more

Wowza. Enough for, what?, three hungry people. Huge chunks of avocado, perfectly dressed with fresh ingredients. Please don't go without ordering this! On my two trips to Denver, I made it a point to dine at Osteria Marco, hence I know the menu fairly well - that and my fork likes to poke other people's plates. The Yelp reviews were stellar and that helped guide us to this place during a recent trip to Denver, but I must say that our experience was disappointing. On the positive side, the ambience is nice, though a bit dark so the menus are hard to read; and the service was professional and efficient. The beers recommended by our server, the 90 Shilling and Karma, both from Colorado, were excellent and the high point of my meal ($5 a glass). The food, however, was average at best. I started with a caesar salad, which had high quality lettuce and was not over-dressed ($6). It was odd that the anchovy was placed raw on top of the salad instead of being incorporated into the dressing. As a result, the dressing was bland and lacked any kick. It also needed some garlic. I opted for the sausage pizza ($14). It was ok, not horrible, but very, very far from great. The problems were threefold: (1) the crust was not crisp, instead kind of flaccid; (2) there was hardly any "stuff" on the pizza, it was mostly cheese; and (3) the little "stuff" that there was had not been evenly distributed. Thus, the few pieces of sausage and onions were lumped on 2-3 pieces and the remaining 5-6 pieces had nothing. The wife got the lamb meatballs, which the servers were really pushing the night we were there, and which happen to be the most expensive thing on the menu ($23). The dish comes with 2 big meatballs on a polenta with sauce. The sauce was so spicy that you could not taste the polenta. The meatballs had the funky texture that you get when they have too much filler and not enough meat. My wife loves lamb but said she could hardly taste any. She did not like them at all and in fact ate only one. So we paid $23 for one meatball. We were disappointed with the food, and surprised that Yelpers rated this place so highly. We find Yelp to be very helpful and accurate on most occasions, but on this one I have to disagree. read more

Italian food is a great combo for the palate in most occasions and a nice cold peroni only makes it more delectable. Please note that the 4 start is more a comparison of my experience with Italian food across the US and not just in Denver. This place does extremely well with the burrata. I could probably eat 2lbs and hate myself later. The beet salad with salmon was excellent and the salmon rather surprising. The pizza is the sticking point for me. I just love when I pick a place using Yelp for a really special night out with friends, and it turns out to be such a win! We loved everything, from the wonderful decor to the excellent service. For starters, we ordered the buratta, the bruschetta and the artichoke - they were all absolutely outstanding. For me, the buratta was the winner, but the bruschetta was a close second, since it had buratta, cherry tomatoes and a delicious balsamic reduction. For dinner, the four of us split two pizzas, the fig and prosciutto with fontina as well as the house made sausage pizza. They were both absolutely delicious, but the sausage pizza had some peppers on it that were really spicy. For dessert we had the butterscotch bread pudding and the angel food cake with berry compote and whipped cream. Everyone else at the table loved the bread pudding, but I really enjoyed the berry dessert. The drinks were good, and I really appreciated our server for helping us choose a wine that would be a good pick. We told him our price range and what we normally like, and he took it from there. Osteria Marco had never been on my list of restaurants to try. That was silly. B. and I had a wonderful meal here before heading over to Comedy Works last weekend! We started with the Cheese Plate and had the Burrata added to it. And, for dinner I had the Shrimp Salad and B. had the Grilled Vegetable Risotto. While we enjoyed the Burrata, I don't think it lived up to all the hype I've heard about it on Yelp and elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, it was good and there wasn't any left. I just don't know if I would actually order it again or tell anyone it's a must have. I actually think the stand out cheese was the sheep's milk cheese and that grilled bread is pretty darn tasty too. My shrimp salad was amazing! Grilled shrimp with fresh grilled corn and a corn vinaigrette that was like nothing I've ever had; outstanding! And Brent really enjoyed his risotto. Our server was friendly, helpful and made sure we were served in a timely manner so we could head over to Comedy Works in time for our show. While Osteria Marco may not have been on my list of restaurants to try, it is certainly on my list of places I'll return to. read more

Ended up here after realizing Rioja is closed for lunch on Tuesdays (boo). The lovely Tiffany C and I were seated right away next to a huge rack of wine on the wall....the best seat in the house in my eyes! There would be no wine for us on this Tuesday afternoon or I'd be in for a long afternoon map, but plenty of good eats to choose from. I couldn't decide between the cheese plate, pizza, and mussels...but luckily Tiffany offered to split the cheese plate and pizza with me (so I got 2 out of the 3)! I could live off of cheese plates, especially ones that have cheeses this delicious! My favorite was the ricotta, which I learned is actually made in house-nice job Osteria! I was pretty full after all that cheese, but can always make room for a few slices of artichoke pesto pizza. It was perfect- thin crust pizza, but with very doughy crust (just the way I like my pizza!). A bit on the garlicky side, which was quite tasty. I wish that wine is included in the list but it wasn't. Nevertheless, I cannot pass on the Lambrusco here so my girlfriend and I each ordered a glass. For starter, you can choose your typical appetizers like calamari or mussels or you can go with their cheese and meats. My friend and I shared the prosciutto and organic goat cheese. It came with ample bread and the combination tasted phenomenal together. I couldn't stop eating! Then came the salad. There were honestly more than one choice I would have liked to try but I went with the poached pear and candied walnut since that's a more unique option. My salad was really good and I was able to try my fitness couscous and kale salad which was super delicious and filling. For entree, I got the carbonara pizza. It comes with bacon and a runny yolk egg in the middle. Super unique and the cheese was delicious too. The only thing I would change would be the crust it's not the best I have had. I tried my friends lamb meatballs which were super good and also my other friend had the whole pig and that was very savory as well. Everyone was super full and had to take their food to go. The pizza was a full size and I only ate 3 slices before I gave up and had enough food to last another meal. Dessert was $4 extra which would have been lovely but we were all too full to indulge and my parking meter was running up. After numerous of times coming here, it feels like they don't care about takeout orders. I get hit with these long Wait times. Food is not even worth it. Rather get a 30 count Chick-fil-A nugget. read more

My boyfriend took me here with some friends for my birthday! Our experience was wonderful! I have had this place on my list for a long time but really didn't know where it was and had even walked by it many times but being next to Ocean Prime it sort of gets overshadowed by their showy entry area. Here are a few tips 1. Meats/Cheese - if you are sharing with several people I recommend doing the chef's selection. A way better deal and you get a great variety. 2. If you are doing the meat and cheese plus entrees...consider splitting an entree with someone - it gets to be alot of food! 3. If you like an egg on your pizza get the carbonora pizza. So delicious!! 4. If you have any non drinkers in the party the bartender makes some delicious mocktails! 5. Make a reservation this place was quite busy even on a cold, rainy Wednesday night. 6.
