I REALLY wanted to like this place, but there really wasn't one thing that made me consider going back. First of all, the service was terrible. There was one waitress for 12 tables. 7 o'clock on a Saturday night. There were two busboys but one didn't speak a word of English. We asked him for butter but he didn't understand. The salads, margarita pizza, eggplant, chicken and pasta weren't good. I wish they were but they just weren't. Bland, lukewarm and overpriced. No warmth to the restaurant and no apologies for the hour we waited between appetizers and entrees. Very odd way to treat customers. Go to Basso in Chappaqua. Same prices but FAR superior food and you can tell they actually care about their patrons. read more

Tramonto regularly shows up on lists of top Italian restaurants in Westchester. I'd been to their outpost Mimi's in Irvington which is nice but with a more limited menu. To start, we got takeover awhile back just to try it. Baked clams and Italian cheesecake were good, with my veal bolognese just being okay partially because of the pasta steaming on the way to us. On the other hand, my wife got a orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage dish that she hated, but that I loved! Plenty of meat and full of spicy flavor. This didn't really make the delivery routine as we don't order Italian often (I can make it myself), however getting it bookmarked Tramonto in my head to try in person sometime. Came before Blaze even though my son was in a weird mood. Loved the upscale barnhouse vibe inside, and all of the families having dinner; make a reservation, they pack out. Service (Shane) was excellent. The Barrel Boulevardier was a well executed classic, even if I didn't get much from the barrel. Bread was very good, with olive oil coming with it being particularly awesome quality. We got my son the pizza bianca which he refused to eat; what a jerk, this stuff was addicting and I didn't hate having a bowl of it to take home. For an appetizer we got the fried artichoke, which was Jewish-style which my wife hadn't had before. This was a good rendition of a classic, with some addicting lemon aioli underneath. For my main I couldn't resist ordering the orecchiette. As someone who makes this dish regularly, the addition of nduja (spreadable, spicy sausage is brilliant. Really big portion too. My wife got the chicken, which she didn't let me try which is a very good sign. I did try the sauce which was tasty. Wish I had tried the espresso, however I will definitely be back here. Tramonto is a great Italian restaurant and stands out even for someone who cooks this stuff regularly. read more

After Cemetary, our large group lunched here, what a surprise - lovely upscale restaurant with very well prepared starters and entrees. We waited a bit to have waiters set up a third long table. We were attentively waited on and the starters kept us happy, then entree arrived -all received happily. My white wine paired deliciously with both the chicken and salmon entrees my husband I shared. I've been here a bunch of times, but his time was superb! My wine group met up for a Spanish themed meal paired with Spanish wines. Nando and his staff did an amazing job! The service and food were stellar! We started with plates of figs wrapped in bacon, Iberico Jamon, Manchego cheese and Marcona Almonds. Next up was grilled Octopus over a potato hash and paprika aioli. Next was a Saffron Paella with braised chicken and chorizo. The chicken fell off the bone and was so moist and tender, the rice was perfect and chorizo was so savory. Next was the star, a whole roasted suckling pig! The presentation was epic and the pig itself was divine! The skin so crispy, the meat so tender and delicious. Just amazing! Dessert was a chocolate mousse with olive oil sea salted caramel which was light yet loaded with flavor. This is such a wonderful restaurant. I highly recommend it! read more

Dinner with friends recently. First time here and we were a little confused, not seeing the front door from the parking lot and being unsure of how to get in. Opened a door that turned out to be a side door and found ourselves inside the restaurant. Seemed the staff was shocked to see us - which added to the confusion. Found out there's also a Happy Hour that runs until 6:00 pm. A good reason to come early for a 6:00 dinner reservation! The dinner itself was good as was the service. We go here all the time. Food is very consistent. Very good octopus appetizer, always perfectly cooked - which isn't easy. Excellent pastas, cooked to order. Often special risottos - always worth ordering. For main courses, go for the duck if it's available. Also their steak is cooked to order and very reliable. The reason for this rating is the service, which was abysmal!! Our waiter was MIA the entire evening. Our food was delivered cold and one dish was not what we ordered and we were blamed for not being clear when we ordered. We had the same issue with dessert. Wrong item delivered twice. Service took forever. We were at the restaurant for 3 hours!!! The overhead light was blinding and we asked numerous times for the light to be turned off. We asked to speak to the manager who didn't care at all that we were having a bad experience. She had no idea how to conduct service recovery. Her lame effort was to give us free coffee and dessert. We we were extremely disappointed and asked for her to comp our bottle of wine, which she begrudgingly did. Such a disappointment!!! We wanted to have a nice dinner on a visit east, and somehow landed on Tramonto. We made a reservation, and upon arrival were quickly seated and brought water. That is a thing for me, so it did set the tone for a nice evening. To start, we ordered a bottle of Prosecco and a couple of appetizers - risotto balls and chickpeas. They also brought out some bread and olive oil. Both were delicious. My brother had the chicken parm, HUGE portion and honestly enough for two. My niece had the mixed seafood (reminded me of cioppino) which she loved. I ordered the chef special ravioli which was veggie and delicious as well. To cap things off we went for dessert - a crème brule crusted cheesecake and the Nutella pizza. I can't even describe how amazing it is to eat Nutella on pizza dough. The service was perfection as well. My only issue with the whole experience was the loud techno/club music playing. Don't get me wrong, I actually dig techno, but not this loud and while I am eating at a nice restaurant. It seemed super bizarre. read more

A hidden gem of a restaurant! To start, it's a surprisingly spacious and expansive restaurant and seems to have limitless indoor and outdoor options. It just kept going as I walked to the bathroom! The decor was elegant yet minimal! The art was really tasteful and not tacky like many other faux Italian restaurants. Now to the food: OMG! I was so caught up in the flavorful options on the table, I forgot to take pictures. I got an amazing pistachio creamy crusted fish which I ate after the freshly made pizza app came. Holy moly. It was perfectly crusted on the outside and the flavors gave my tastebuds quite the party. My husband had the short rib Ragu pasta and I could see his eyes glistening with satisfaction with each mouthful. To complete this meal, we all shared a tartufo and tiramisu. To leave an Italian restaurant and not feel overstuffed is remarkable and unusual, for me at least. My only complaint is, why am I just finding out about this restaurant now! Found this diamond in the ruff restaurant in an industrial location off of 9A in Hawthorn NY. The atmosphere and staff were just amazing. Great location to meet friends for a lovely light lunch. The drinks were flavorful just as the food.. Only reason they didn't get a full 5 star is because the salmon, in my to go order, did not taste as fresh as it should've tasted but it was still good. Last night we had a great experience, of hosting a very special event at Tramonto restaurant. We had booked a party for our daughter's sweet 16 birthday dinner with family and friends. Everything was planned and handled precisely. They even allowed us to come in during the afternoon to decorate with balloons and some other things. We were able to use the back room of the restaurant that probably could hold a party for 40 to 50 people that would be incredible. The back area of the restaurant is very intimate, and has a beautiful view out large Palladium windows out to beautiful greenery. The decor of the restaurant is very updated and very cool. They've used many textures and materials in accents. They make the restaurant extremely warm and inviting. They even have a fireplace when you enter that is surrounded by beautiful plush leather upholstery. Many of the walls have beautiful weather barn siding and massive barn doors. With a mixture of very cool brick and beautiful upholstery this restaurant looks amazing. We had approximately 24 people that could not have been happier about the service and quality of food. All of the food was brought out on time. The staff was extremely attentive, and the choices and variety was amazing. We enjoyed fried calamari, eggplant rollantini, great fresh cheeses, meats, Italian meats, etc. We also had a great penne, pasta course, and they gave us an amazing choice of entrées from salmon to chicken, and some great meat dishes. For dessert, they put out an amazing spread of cookies, pastries, and a fresh crispy fried dough with the perfect amount of powdered sugar. I highly recommend this restaurant for à la cart, or for a special event, I can promise you we will become a regular. The entire staff was kind and super helpful, and Management was constantly checking on our party to make sure we were happy. If you live in the area, I hope your fortune enough to give Tramonto a try. I think he will also become a regular. read more

I'd drop anything to come back here and have their Mushroom Risotto. The thing was so damn good, I wanted more! Tramonto is a casual Italian restaurant through and through and located on Saw Mill River Rd. Placed a take out Lunch order at the bar with Kristine(?)who made waiting time pleasant and welcoming. Place is styled nicely with an old-timey, Italian charm, Tudor-esque wood beams, and stone- giving the entire place a Rustic and Romantic feel. My Salmon Entree was pretty big and kinda different- especially with the Roasted Red Onions on top. The Wild Rice was a unique touch I feel- but once I started eating at home, Salmon was rock hard. (I mean...I could've mention my temp preference the same way my girl Kristine could've asked). Wild Rice? Had mustard in it. Really??? I never liked mustard- I just think it's nasty. And quite honestly, I didn't think mustard was a main ingredient in Italian cooking. Who knew? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I do see myself coming back because their menu looks very nice. But listen...now I know what to ask for: Medium on the Salmon and no mustard on ANY of my dishes - then we're set. We had an excellent dinner last night at Tranonto. It is a nice quiet place 6 minutes from Pleasantville where my son goes to school. The staff was so welcoming and very attentive. We started with grilled octopus, baked clams and the meatball appetizer and they were all excellent, especially the octopus. My son and I had the squid ink pasta with seafood and it was awesome. Came out hot and very tender. My wife had the chicken parm and she really enjoyed it. My son's girlfriend had the pizza and said it was excellent. Leave room for desert. Our first impression was disappointing as we were extremely rushed. We were 2 but asked for a larger table and were turned down. Appetizers came & they were circling for us to finish. Within - what felt like 7 - mins the main course was out and my friends appetizer plate was literally taken from her while she was still eating. There was a private party inside that was about to begin an hour into us being there & perhaps that's why we were rushed initially? But once the private party started things settled down and service was pleasant. Everything we ate was very nice, and we were not rushed once the main course was on the table.
