2.5 stars. I had dinner here tonight and was not impressed. The restaurant seemed nice when we walked in. There's a bar area and a restaurant area. I've heard good things but they did not hit it out of the park for me. I have dietary preferences that I found very hard to make work here. I had looked at the menu beforehand and identified two options that would work for me. The crispy wings and the burger. It turns out I could try neither of those options as they were out of both. It's a Wednesday dinner service and the restaurant was empty so imagine my severe disappointment. I ended up getting a Caesar salad which was fine but let's be honest a Caesar salad is lettuce, cheese, dressing and croutons. There was nothing to write home about with this one. The other three members of the group got pizzas. Here comes the next disappointment - it took more than 45 minutes for the food to come out. There were only two other tables with people so I cannot understand why it took so long. All this to say I waited almost an hour for my sad plate of lettuce, which was not my first or second choice. I was annoyed and still left hungry. The rest of the group seemed to enjoy their pizzas, but I will not be returning. read more

Looking for a light lunch today as the temperatures hovered in the mid 90's, we decided to give Osteria Procaccini a try. Upon entering the nicely cooled place, we were warmly greeted and promptly seated by a window adjacent to the wood fire oven. This was our first visit. The room is very lively. Thankful we were seated in the corner which helped with the acoustics. With the dining room mostly full at lunchtime, it was difficult to hear my bride on the other side of the table. We were in no hurry so overtime, the place thinned out a bit and the volume subsided. Could be a real issue on a busy night. Might try the bar room side next time. (Some decorative acoustic ceiling tiles would greatly reduce the noise.) There were menu additions as well as a limited but decent selection of value wines. We decided on the Shrimp Mango Avocado Tower and a Shrimp Caesar salad and a bottle of Villa Antinori. The Shrimp Mango Avocado salad is one of the best salads we have ever had. Really. Blueberry, strawberry, arugula, candied pecans, feta cheese topped with a limoncello dressing and aged balsamic with a few grilled shrimp. Was hoping for more shrimp, but the salad is very filling. The interplay of the various flavors was very tasty and the wine was a good paring. The Shrimp Caesar salad was also very good. I loved the anchovie and dijon forward flavors with just the right amount of garlic. The homemade croutons with just the right flavor and crunch. The pace was perfect. Server (manager?) was attentive but not overbearing. We had a nice relaxing and delicious light lunch. Exactly what we were looking for. We will definitely be back to try the pizza and some desserts. read more

Went there this evening and was extremely disappointed. First, I asked for an iced tea. They didn't have it. I didn't want anything with alcohol, so i asked for a soda, she said they didn't have that either . The menu we were given had very few items on it that the menu on their website showed. We came here after a doctor's appointment and were excited to give this place a try because we went to an Osteria in Princeton and really liked that place a try. So, we were hoping that this place would be the same. We ordered the following: The Wedge, which is a romaine wedge, pancetta, cherry tomatoes, corn, red onion and blue cheese dressing. Hubs thought that this was the best item that we had for the evening. Daughter liked the wedge salad a lot and it's her favorite and she thought that it was nice and crispy. Trenton mustard pie, which has mozzarella, tomato sauce, crumbled sausage and spicy mustard. Daughter liked the mustard pie. Pizza was ok but it didn't meet our expectations. The other location didn't have a mustard pie, so we knew that this was something new. Procaccini rustic pie, which has Sunday sauce, minced red onion, roasted garlic, grated pecorino Romano cheese. Hubs thought that this was the tastier of the 2 pies but it felt wet in the middle and that it flopped around. We also ordered 2 shangri la unsweetened iced tea. These were $5 each, which were expensive. Service was barely there. The waiter never came back to check on us except to take our order and give us our bill. We were very disappointed and was hoping that they'd be the same as the other location in Princeton, but I guess not. Will probably not return. read more

Why mess with a good thing? Perhaps to save money? The new pizza dough slipped in without notice. It is not good. Thin, crackly. No more pillowy bubbles in the crust. The pizza photos in YELP should have a warning alerting customers that the photos do not depict current offering. By having a thinner crust it saves the restaurant on ingredients as flour use goes down, which saves costs. Sell pizza for same price = more profit per pizza sold. I am not buying it. read more

I'm rating Osteria Procaccini a 4 for the convenience of being able to eat and drink without having to stop at the liquor store first! Full bar and wine, the food was average. Appropriate for family dining with small ones. It's very hard to find quality Italian food in the Pennington area. read more

I was at my granddaughter's graduation at Hopewell Valley Central high and we decided to try Osteria Procaccini , It was the best move ever after long heated wait for 600kids to get diplomas. It was a beautiful event as to our meal and service was excellent. I had fettuccine Alfredo sausage and Reggiano Parmesan cheese shredded was humongous stuffed clams that were great. This place is a winner all around Service Caesars help with the menu when I asked him a question about how things were prepared. He was on top of. It came out exactly as he said I like to see that. All I can say is WOW. We had dinner there last night. We'd seen the sign for a long time and didn't go in because it read pizza bar. That is so deceiving. This is a full blown restaurant with a recently redecorated lovely interior and enlarged bar with a full menu that includes pizza. Specialty is Italian food and it's excellent. Prices are good. Happy hour is great and the service is friendly and fast. We met John and Ryan who were behind the bar last night. Their friendliness and service was remarkable. Can't wait to return next Friday. Italian restaurant at Hopewell, NJ Was here Thuraday late lunch around 2:30pm. The restaurant had a plenty of seating with a bar area. There was a construction going on in the back and was noisy and had change our seat. We liked meatball as an appetizer. The mushroom and sausage thin crusted brick pizza was delicious. Romaine salad with feta cheese and tomatoes were little too salty but a good portion. Their lime soda was not too sweet and went well with our meal. We were very full and had left over to bring home. Came in for a weeknight dinner with a friend. She has recommended this place after being a customer at the former Osteria Procaccini in Princeton. My friend was waiting for me already when I got there, so the host directed me to our table. Our waitress came around in about 5 minutes. I asked for a water and took a look at the menu. The waitress had come back around in about 10 minutes and took ordered for our appetizer and entrees. I still had no water at that point and kindly reminded her that I was waiting for it. Our appetizer of Peach Brûlée and Burrata Bruschetta came out about 10 minutes after ordering. From start to finish, this dish was really bad. The bread that the Bruschetta was on was burnt badly, and the "bruleed" peaches were peaches in syrup from a can. My friend kindly told the waitress that the dish wasn't up to standards, and she took it back in exchange for a Truffle Honey & Ricotta Bruschetta that we requested. Our pizza had come out before our appetizer reorder. I had ordered the Nonna Cesina Pizza. The overall flavor was pretty bland and lacking. The toppings were far too heavy for the crust which made it limp and unable to hold itself together. As we were eating, the new appetizer was brought over. It was better than the first, but it was nothing super unique or special. Overall, this place was pretty much lacking in all of the food categories. Service was OK, and the waitress was doing her best. Regardless, I've tried much better Italian and wouldn't give this one another shot. read more

Two stars is the best that I can give it, wilted salad and something really strange going on with the first pizza that we ordered that we had to send it back for a redo. At least to redo was a little bit better but overall experience kind of missed the spot for us regular restaurant folks; we dine out often. The ingredients fell short, and staff really should be familiar with the menu to be able to answer your questions. I have a few regrets about coming here. First is that it was for a lightish lunch and not dinner. I HAVE to try more pies. Second is that I wasn't able to enjoy any of the incredibly reasonably priced wines. We were close to this one so I thought my companion in crime would enjoy it. To compensate for the carbs we decided to try a salad. A spinach and Apple was selected and it was very good, and at $8 plenty to share. The quality of said appetizer was such that we eagerly anticipated the main event. I let her choose, and pesto pomodoro was selected. We must have been distracted when ordering because when it arrived at the table it looked alien to us. Kind of greenish and reddish with way more diced toms than we pictured it having. It also was artfully spritzed with a balsamic glaze. But the crust looked sturdy so I picked up a slice, and lo and behold it held firm without having to employ the folding maneuver. Biting into it was a revelation of tomato, basil, fresh mozz and balsamic yumminess. I felt that the crust on this one was vastly superior to the other location I had tried. This spot is the only one of their restaurants to feature a liquor license. And it was refreshing to see that all of the choices were modestly priced. BYOB enthusiasts should not overlook it due to this fact, just come and try to pair glasses to each course or pie variety. I love pizza - period! The pizza we had was a specialty one - I picked the most plain one as I don't really go for those w/ lots of toppings. This pizza was called 'pesto pomodoro' and it was covered in diced tomatoes topped w/ pesto and drizzled with balsamic. WOW - a taste orchestra of sensation for the palate & buds! Prior, we started with nice tasty & healthy salad - all spinach leaves w/ blue cheese crumbles and walnuts. Very good and plentiful for the two of us. Good pizza in a clean and family-friendly environment! I have come to Osterio Procaccini multiple times and have enjoyed my experience on each occasion. The location in Pennington is somewhat difficult-to-find for the unfamiliar driver like me, but the pizza here is great, as is the service. Personally, I prefer the Red pizzas (with tomato sauce) and my favorite is the Amatriciana, but the wide range of White pizzas available here make it possible to have any kind of authentic Italian pizza you want. The stone hearth gives the crust a truly smoky aroma and taste, and the main dishes are also good too. When I had the strawberry salad, it tasted a little out of wack in its flavor, perhaps too much cheese or too little dressing. The restaurant itself is very spacious, and it's rarely ever too busy or crowded, even on Saturday nights. The wait staff are very nice, although a bit slow, but everything seems very professional on the face of it. Although it is nothing exceptional, Osteria Procaccini offers a wonderful array of Italian offerings in a very hospitable setting. read more

Came here on Friday evening with my daughter and her family. There is a small bar along with two rooms filled with tables. One room is much larger than the other room. The restaurant offers Wood burning Neapolitan artisan pizzas. There are several different sized pies. There are additional pasta and salad offerings on the menu. We opted for a beet salad which was large enough to feed four adults. It was a good start to the dinner. With four adults and two young children we ended up with four different pies. My son in law and I ordered the RUCHETTA E PROSCIUTTO Fresh mozzarella, prosciutto di parma, arugula, shaved parmigiano, balsamic reduction which was s white pie. We also ordered the PIZZA DORA Tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, sausage, pepperoni. The remaining two pies were s standard margherita and s combination mushroom and spinach. The pies are thin crusted and charred. There is also gluten free dough for an extra charge. The pies that we ordered were smaller than a typical small pizza but with our varied choices was plenty to eat. This was my second trip to this location also having eaten at their Crosswicks location. This trip was much more enjoyable and certainly a perfect halfway spot to meet for us and my daughter and her family. read more

Although we were still in close proximity to other tables, the bright interior felt pleasantly spaced out. Taking advantage of not having our "red-sauce-only" partners with us, we opted for the white Gorgonzola and Pear Pizza which was delicious, although a bit sweeter than expected as it light on the gorgonzola. I've got a big soft spot for this place. The pizzas remind me of the ones we'd see in San Francisco all the time--small, semi-personal (two people rly), with a bunch of fun elements. The wait staff are pretty young, and while a mistake will be made on occasion their general energy is pretty great. Stand out food options include the eggplant rollatini (amazing), all the pizzas, most of the salads, and the lobster ravioli. Some of the other pastas are great too, just say away from the "simple" one that I think just tastes like butter and salt--I forgot the name off the top of my head. Also stay way away from the bruschetta; it's not really deserving of the quality of this place. Not much of a wait at all except for Friday - Sat evenings starting at 6. After 5:55pm, prepare to wait for 45-60 minutes on average unless you are a table of two. read more

What a disappointment...I remember when this place started the pizza was top notch and they did great at what they did with a small menu of pizza and salads only. Now, with an expanded menu and more locations their pizza is some of the worst in Mercer Co. Got a pesto pomodoro pizza this evening for takeout and it was barely cooked and so loaded with toppings that it was a puddle of watery tomatoes, tasteless pesto and undercooked crust. Both the dough and toppings had no salt or acid. While the salad was passable, it was not worth with the $34 I paid. Cross this one of the list and may I ask the group which owns this place to stick to pancakes. read more

If it isn't broken, don't fix it. I've been coming here for years. Always good. Until tonight. Under staffed, smaller portions, lesser quality dough, no fizzy in the sodas. The problem began with the menu. Gone are the classic hot sandwiches. They've tried to go with more entrees, and forgot the basics. They forgot the key item is pizza. If I could give it zero stars I would. way overpriced - $17-20 for smallish salads? We're not in the city. No bread with the measly antipasta? The bread and pizza crusts had no flavor and crust was droopy. $9 for a very small rice pudding. What! Frankly, not sure what the people who like this place are eating. read more

I just read the first review and I believe that I saw that table of 7 when I stopped in with my son. I agree with most of Jess's review but must admit that before I went in I was thinking, "Seriously, do we really need another Italian place in Pennington? Really!?!" My son didn't think that their brick oven could compete with Cugino's. Well, I am pleased to say that indeed we do! I love the push for all natural ingredients and the decor is awesome. Further, it's our first wine bar and I can't wait to go back with my friends! That shopping center has had an awful time attracting patrons and I believe that Osteria Procaccini will be just what the area needs. Salute!! read more

As a big fan of their food at their Kingston location for lunch during the week I was thrilled to see another location open up near my home. The new location benefits from more space, a bar area, and a liqour license. Apparently they also sell the wine on their wine list to go as they have a package good license as well. Speaking of wine its refreshing to see by the glass prices $5-6 range versus the $8-12 seen in local restaurants. They use all natural ingredients and source locally when in season. Two people could make a meal by splitting one pizza and a salad. The decor is fresh and chic without being prententious. A big fan of this place. read more
