Street tacos: carne asada, steak, pollo

Stopped by for cinco de mayo. They had a 1.99 street taco special and it was just delightful. If you must choose one meat to get, it would be the pollo 100%. The juciest, most flavorful chicken breast that I've had in a minute and definitely the best pollo Taco I've ever had. Can pay with venmo and zelle, 4% off if paying with cash. Interior is homely and old- school.

Cevichazo El pirata Tower of Ceviche I highly recommend this dish. It's just amazing.

I love the food at El Pirata. Even though Agua Chile is my go-to, I have tried their quesadillas, fish tacos, Chile verde, rice & beans, chips& salsa. Their red salsa is blended, spicy, delicious. I'm addicted to it once I start eating it. You will love their food, it's authentic, delicious and made with love. I have suggested this restaurant to my co-workers and family. I would recommend it to anyone, looking for a great meal, in our little backyard of Diamond Bar. It is a hidden gem.

This is a great place within walking distance from my house. The tacos were so flavorful! Its a small, hole in the wall , but those are usually the best! Flor, took my order and it didnt take long until it arrived. I cant wait to come back to try something else!

This restaurant is located in the back of a mini shopping center, you might miss it. The food is made to order, if you are in a hurry, call it in before you arrive... 909-396-7966. If not, enjoy complimentary chips and salsa as you wait. They do have indoor dining and one or two tables outside. Seafood is their specialty, I had one Marlin taco alacart, and a Ceviche Seafood Tower. The Tower is VERY delicious and a large portion that is good for 2 or 3 people. Needless to say, I took most of it home and enjoyed it for dinner. They offer several types of shrimp dishes, like grilled, breaded, wrapped in bacon, on a tostada or in a coctele (cocktail). I want to try their specialty dishes like the half pineapple filled with Seafood or a chicken/steak molcajete. You might prefer other typical Mexican dishes like chicken enchiladas or a burrito, They do have a children's menu (chicken nuggets, taco or quesadilla, etc). I didn't notice beer or wine on the menu. I had a choice of Coke, Aqua Fresca, juice or coffee.

So I learned of this restaurant at a yelp event. The sample of chips, salsa and ceviche were so delicious they warranted a visit to try the menu, and let me tell you.....THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! Don't worry the windows look dark and the way the high chairs were visibly stacked makes it look like they're closed, but they're open (check business hours though). Service 5/5 friendly & attentive Cleanliness 5/5 (Restrooms are not public, BUT impressively knowing the importance of waking your hands before you eat, there's a standing sink with soap & paper towels to use) Flavor 5/5 Decor 4/5 Now to the REAL reason you're here.... THE FOOD ..... Chips & salsa - STILL delish ! Chips come to the table warm! Salsa FLAVORFUL with a lil heat to it! Fajitas Mixtas - HONEEEEEY!!! I closed my eyes and did a lil dance they were sooooo good! DO NOT sleep on this dish!! Shrimp, chicken, and steak fajitas served with a mini quesadilla on top. I could've just had the peppers & onions and had the same reaction! SOOOOOO GOOD!!!! We shared this meal and then also got a taco a la carte. Carnitas taco..... again an eye closing, shoulder bouncing, table dancing, mmmmm good item! Simple taco, carnitas, cilantro, & onions. Taco de Camarón....I didn't get to taste this one, but my friend said it was good as well. Clearly you're here for suggestions so..... go order the fajitas mixtas and a taco and thank me later . You won't be disappointed! Provecho/Bon Appétit

First time coming here. What a great time we had. The salsa has a kick to it it was very tasty. My friend and I split the fajitas mixtas (shrimp, chicken, steak) with the flour tortillas. There is a small quesadilla on top of it when it comes to you sizzling. It counts with rice, beans and a salad. We each had an a la carte taco as well. (Carnitas and shrimp). Our server was absolutely wonderful. There are 10 tables and depending on when you come, it fills up fast. Festive decorations.

First time here! Went in there today around 6pm and there was only one family there. Cashier was polite and let me know I could ask her for help as well as told me when my togo order would be ready. Around $8 (?) for the fish ceviche and had to wait less than 10 mins. It was pretty good! I've been craving fish ceviche ALL week so I was not disappointed. The only downside is that there was about a tea spoon of hot sauce in the portion cup they gave me. They provided a lot of salsa but didn't really need that for my ceviche (I did not add the hot sauce in the photos). Not a big deal because I still enjoyed my meal. Thanks to whoever posted this location on Facebook!

I have mixed reviews for this place. We came on May 14th for Mother's Day and there was only one waitress and one cook so the food took a while to come out. It is also small inside and only fits a couple tables/guests. The menu prices on Yelp were very outdated and what we got was about $20 more than what the Yelp menu from only a couple months ago said, which I thought was a big difference. I thought the parrillada would come out hot at least since it took a long time, but we got it and it seemed to have been sitting for a bit. The ceviche tower was my favorite thing out of everything but when it was brought out, we weren't given any salsas tostadas, chips, condiments etc. and the waitress never came back to the table to offer or ask. Food overall was 6.3/10

If you are someone that judges a book by its cover to eat , like my wife, you better think twice this place it's just hidden ,,it's not where most restaurants will be. ,,The food there is delicious and the service speaks for itself ...I used to have to drive to San Diego to get my wife her Molcajete... even the Horchata was the seafood, amazing fresh.

The customer service, on the other hand, left a lot to be desired. The first thing that rubbed me the wrong way was being charged $2 for a bottle of water. If I'm already spending $15-20 per entrée, I don't think complimentary water is an unreasonable expectation. It started the meal off on the wrong foot, but I was there with my family and wanted to enjoy our breakfast. Our waiter, Mauro, came across as cold and uninterested from the start. He never checked back on our table after taking our order and delivering our food, so we didn't have the opportunity to ask for anything we needed (refills, etc) or see how the meal was going. While the food itself was enjoyable, the lack of attentive service made the overall experience disappointing.

But before ordering, we waited over 10 mins just to take our order. The restaurant was short staffed with only 1 server tending to 8 tables and 4 to go orders during our dining. She was very nice and served with a smile but she was pulled from all different directions and also checking the back to serve the good. I felt very bad for her and wished she had more help so it was a better experience for the customers and staff. All the food here is very reasonable with huge portions you can share as family style. I higher recommend the chicken quesadilla and the steak and check fajitas. I don't recommend the nacho since the plate portion seemed light compared to other places. The plate looked much later in the menu pictures. We also ordered the Pancho Molcajete that came with shrimp, steak, cheese and onions. it was not worth $42 and no it doesn't serve for 2 people. It was more of the black salsa sauce in the bowl than the actual food. Very disappointing and not worth the price. I would come back to order to go but not ever come back for a sit down!

I had the opportunity to try out this restaurant today. Let's go over each part of the experience…read more Ambiance: My initial impression was that the restaurant itself was clean and tidy. However, none of the usually warm attributes of a family owned establishment. The was a distinct lack of color and warmth. Service: The service was good. I was greeted quickly and shown to a table very promptly too. (It was 4pm so it was after the lunch crowd and before dinner.) I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to experience the best possible service.) Menu: The menu had lots of options but I was set on exploring their taco Tuesday special. I ordered one of each. Food: My first surprise was when I was offered chips and salsa for $1.99. This is usually a free item at most restaurants but I thought to myself, if they are going to charge, then it must be something to talk about. I WAS WRONG! The chips were homemade but not to order. As a result, they were cool to the touch. The portion was modest and the salsa itself was barely an elevated tomato purée. That was almost no discernible spice to it. Then came the tacos. They were the small traditional street taco size which was just fine. However, none of the 4 tacos that I ordered had any noticeable heat. They were not quite cool to the touch but the certainly were not hot either. The presentation was nice as they were set on a long rectangular plate side by side and dressed with traditional cilantro and onions. I ordered 4 different meat types but the only offered one small shot glass sized salsa for all 4 of them. Sense of welcome: They were showing one of the World Cup games. In other circumstances, I might have ordered more tacos, maybe a dessert or even a beer. Unfortunately, at this point, I didn't want to stay. If I wanted more chips, they were going to charge another $2. It wasn't the $2 that was the problem, it was simply that nothing to that point was worth staying for. If they cannot get a simple plate of tacos served correctly when there was nobody else in the restaurant, I don't think there's any reason to go back to try anything else. I would have been better off at a taco truck.

Now the food.... I had the Chon's Breakfast Comal. The chorizo was ok. Lacked quite a bit of flavor. Potatoes tasted kinda like they were boiled and then finished in a sauce, then plated. The bell peppers and onions were fantastic. A lot. But they were cooked well. Over easy eggs were decent, despite one of them being cooked all the way through. Comal was perfect temperature. But insanely greasy (which is expected from chorizo). Rice. Eh... Rice is rice. Wasn't bad. But was all "Oh my goodness this is amazing." Beans tasted like the refried Rosarita's can. Just topped with cheese. The salsa. It was pretty good. The 1st time. Until I found a hair. Then I was given a 2nd one. And when I decided to eat it, it was no good. It was starting to spoil. I realized this once I put it on a bite I was about to take and immediately put it in my food i was about to chew in my napkin. After about 15 minutes when my server finally came by, I told her of the situation. She said "I'll go check." Then disappeared. Someone else gave me the check, and then someone else brought the receipt. The initial server didn't pop up until I was getting up to walk out. So no manager interaction. No "we'll comp your coffee." Just a "Sorry you didn't like it." As I walked out. Ambiance is cool, but some table placement doesn't make sense. That needs to be addressed. Will I come back here? I don't know. Maybe. Maybe not. But I'm talking like 80 no /20 yea. So I guess we'll see.. So I'm giving this place 1 star. I'm sorry, but this is my opinion based on my 1st experience here. Maybe it'll be better. We'll see....
