Last time meeting with my mom for lunch she decided we would go to Osuna's in Walnut. I know there is one in Valinda/La Puente are but there is also this one in Walnut. This one is tucked away into a small plaza off of Amar Rd. I ordered a taco salad which comes with one of three choices of meat. I opted for a veggie option by just dropping the meat. I also ordered an horchata to drink. The taco salad was excellent and filling without being really heavy which I have noticed lots of places I eat at feel. We recently had a small birthday party, 6 people, at Osuna's. We go here alot and know most everyone. The food and service is usually good but not today. The food was very different and the server was terrible. She really had trouble communicating with us. That said when the bill came we noticed a service charge. When we asked we were told--we are using a card, which was a debit card--so there is a service charge. It was 20% of our bill.This was common during the pandemic but never here. With the rise in prices and now this we are reconsidering coming here with our small birthday parties. There are several a month. We are good tippers but this didn't sit well with us. read more

We have been coming to Osunas for a few years. The brunch is our favorite. Tonight we celebrated my husbands birthday with family & friends. The staff and food were amazing. The staff always making sure everyone had enough to eat or drink. It was awesome. All the meals were served fresh and hot. It's probably one of the Best Mexican places you'll find in the area. The Food is pretty good, however sometimes the carne Asada very dry. Thankfully our dinner last night was delicious and our meat was cooked perfectly. The wait time was longer than usual because they were understaffed. However our waitress always greeted us with a smile when she approached our table. Their soup of the day was fideo - which is the most amazing thing in the world! Carne Asada tacos were bomb. The steak was actually still pink in the middle. I wasn't a fan of the barbacoa. It was a bit too sweet for me. Overall, it was a good meal. Just had to wait a long time. I just was here for lunch and it was really sad. Our bill was 50 dollars and it was a mediocre. I got a cucumber lemonade and it was slimy.. we ordered a guacamole and it was tasteless. No salt. No seasoning. With non ripe chunks. 2 tacos with a little rice and beans for nearly 15 dollars. They were nothing special. I ordered enchillas for my mom and she said it was eh for the price. You are better off going to another restaurant but I support small family businesses so I understand their struggles that we may not see. Came here while car was in the shop. Atmosphere seemed good and staff seemed friendly. Ordered nachos for me and husband got some sopes. His sopes didn't have the crispy bottom and he was unable to pick it up to bite it. The nachos were okay, but lacked some beans and cheese. Lots of pico de gallo, which I forgot to tell them no thanks. Being a long day at work, I saw they had happy hour and margaritas for $4.50. No, it tasted like the little leftover you have after the ice has melted, that bitter, gawd awful taste that makes you just not want to drink anymore. I hadn't been to this place in over 15 years. I would have given a 5 had it not been for the service on our 2nd visit a few days later We came for the 1st visit on a Sunday and were seated promptly and treated like our visit mattered. The food was hot, well seasoned and filling (we ordered carnitas and barbacoa), yummy! The server was great, answered all our questions and was very attentive always coming to the table at the right time, we knew we'd be back and hoped we'd see him again. We returned a few days later on a Thursday and were disappointed with the service. The place was empty and yet after being seated we were made to wait for the server to come by and when she did she didn't even have chips & salsa?!?!? I said no chips and salsa and she said she was busy but would bring them?!?!? We could see she was busy cleaning up, taking phone orders and waiting on 1 table, ours?!?!? We could also see she was not the only 1 working but said she had to do everything and was visibly unhappy. Sad but since covid this place stopped caring. They are still serving food on styrofoam plates even with dine in. Ordered the fajitas the steak they used was really cheap and full of nerves and hard fat was inedible and also served on a foam plate. Wow! Came here to eat with my family to celebrate a birthday and the waiting staff was very friendly!!! They were able to speak Spanish to my family which helped them feel accommodated. Our waitress was very kind and attentive, she assisted my grandmother in packing her food in a box when the plate was too heavy for her. Food was delicious, their salsa is very spicy and really tasty! I ordered the nachos in the appetizer section, which was enough to fill me up and then some. Quick note, as of yesterday June 21, 2020 the dining area is still not open. But they are still open for take out. I usually get the molcahete here. It's not on the menu so make sure to ask your server for details. But basically it comes with meats such as chicken, steak, shrimp and chorizo (pork). It includes veggies such as onion, cactus, and chili's. It also includes cheese and their special salsa inside. This dish comes with a side of beans, rice, and guacamole. More often than not the server will bring a small bowl of soup or a small quesadilla to munch on along side with chips and salsa while your molcahete is being prepared. This is a lot of food, plenty to share between two people, I've even shared between three people. It's about $30.00 so if you're willing to share this tasty molcahete it's definitely a bargain.
